    • We deterministically integrate nanowire quantum-emitters in SiN photonic circuits. We generate single-photons, suppress excitation-laser, and isolate specific transitions in the quantumemitter all on-chip with electrically-tunable filter.     • Efficient nonlinear silicon photonics rely on phase-matching through finewaveguide dispersion engineering. We experimentally demonstrate dynamic dispersion tuningof 800 ps/nm/km in a silicon waveguide ring resonator, by using microelectromechanicalactuation of an adjacent suspended waveguide rim.

    • Osteonecrosis of the femoral head is caused by inadequate blood supply to the affected bone. The bone decay process due to lacking blood supply would be likely to be accompanied by the formation of gas-filled pores. We have introduced diode laser absorption spectroscopy to successfully detect water vapor signals from pores in the femoral heads retrieved from hip replacement operations in 19 patients. The Gas in Scattering Media Absorption Spectroscopy (GASMAS) variety of tunable laser spectroscopy was employed. The results open up for the possibility of improved diagnostics for a very common disease.

    • We report here the lateral size scaling effect of the photonic crystal surface-emitting lasers (PCSELs) based on heterogeneously integrated InGaAsP MQW membranes transferred on silicon photonic crystal cavities. Lateral and vertical confinement schemes were also investigated towards low threshold lasing of PCSELs with small lateral cavity sizes.

    • We report here heterogeneous photonic crystal (PC) bandedge surface emitting membrane lasers on bulk silicon (Si) substrates. Optically pumped lasers were demonstrated experimentally with single mode operation and side-mode suppression ratio (SMSR) greater than 13.5 dB. Thermal resistance was investigated to evaluate the heat dissipation and lasing characteristics afforded by this integration and potential for high efficiency application.

    • We propose a novel type of tunable Yagi-Uda nanoantenna composed of metal-dielectric (Ag- Ge) core-shell nanoparticles. By choosing the appropriate nanoantenna parameters we excite a Van Hove singularity, supporting high values of directivity and Purcell factor within the same narrow frequency range. Our analysis reveals the possibility of flexible dynamical tuning of the hybrid nanoantenna emission pattern via electron-hole plasma excitation by additional fs-laser signal pulses.

    • Single-photon detectors with high efficiency, high time resolution, low dark counts and high photon detection-rates are vital for most demanding quantum optics experiments. Combining all performances in a single device has been challenging. Here, we demonstrate a broadband detector with efficiency higher than 92%, over 150 MHz photon detection-rate and dark counts below 130 Hz operated in a conventional Gifford-McMahon cryostat. Furthermore, using our custom made cryogenic amplifiers and optimized detector, we reach a record low jitter of 14.80 ps while maintaining high efficiency.
