  • Årsbok 2018 : Socialhögskolan, Lunds universitet
  • 2019

  • Radioimmunoassay of beta-microseminoprotein, a prostatic-secreted protein present in sera of both men and women
  • 1989
  • Ingår i: Clinical Chemistry. - 0009-9147. ; 35:7, s. 1497-1503
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We describe a simple radioimmunoassay of beta-microseminoprotein, one of the three most abundant secretory proteins of the prostate gland. The detection limit of the assay is 1 microgram/L, and its precision, expressed as the total coefficient of variation, is less than 10% for values between 10 and 150 micrograms/L. Using this assay, we found that beta-microseminoprotein immunoreactivity was present in sera from both sexes at about the same concentration. The protein detected had the same molecular size on gel chromatography as the protein isolated from seminal plasma, and dilution curves for the sera paralleled that for the pure protein. The findings suggest that beta-microseminoprotein is present in serum of healthy subjects of both sexes and that it originates in tissue other than the prostate gland. The range of the serum concentration was 0-10.6 micrograms/L (median 4.1) for 51 healthy adult women and 1.1-14.7 micrograms/L (median 6.2) for 35 healthy adult men not older than 40 years. In males with prostatic cancer the concentration in serum was highly variable and often greatly increased. The concentration of beta-microseminoprotein was correlated with that of creatinine in serum, suggesting that the protein is eliminated--at least partly--from the circulation by glomerular filtration. Little of the protein was present in the urine of women. In urine from men the concentration was high and variable, probably because of local contribution from the prostate gland to the urethral urine.

  • Macrophage Gene Expression in Adipose Tissue is Associated with Insulin Sensitivity and Serum Lipid Levels Independent of Obesity.
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Obesity (Silver Spring, Md.). - : Wiley. - 1930-739X .- 1930-7381. ; 21:12
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objective: Obesity is linked to both increased metabolic disturbances and increased adipose tissue macrophage infiltration. However, whether macrophage infiltration directly influences human metabolism is unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate if there are obesity-independent links between adipose tissue macrophages and metabolic disturbances. Design and Methods: Expression of macrophage markers in adipose tissue was analyzed by DNA microarrays in the SOS Sib Pair study and in patients with type 2 diabetes and a BMI-matched healthy control group. Results: The expression of macrophage markers in adipose tissue was increased in obesity and associated with several metabolic and anthropometric measurements. After adjustment for BMI, the expression remained associated with insulin sensitivity, serum levels of insulin, C-peptide, high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-cholesterol) and triglycerides. In addition, the expression of most macrophage markers was significantly increased in patients with type 2 diabetes compared to the control group. Conclusion: Our study shows that infiltration of macrophages in human adipose tissue, estimated by the expression of macrophage markers, is increased in subjects with obesity and diabetes and associated with insulin sensitivity and serum lipid levels independent of BMI. This indicates that adipose tissue macrophages may contribute to the development of insulin resistance and dyslipidemia.

  • Phase tailoring of Ta thin films by highly ionized pulsed magnetron sputtering
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Thin Solid Films. - : Elsevier. - 0040-6090 .- 1879-2731. ; 515:7-8, s. 3434-3438
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Ta thin films were grown on Si substrates at different inclination angles with respect to the sputter source using high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HIPIMS), an ionized physical vapor deposition technique. The ionization allowed for better control of the energy and directionality of the sputtered species, and consequently for improved properties of the deposited films. Depositions were made on Si substrates with the native oxide intact. The structure of the as deposited films was investigated using X-ray diffraction, while a four-point probe setup was used to measure the resistivity. A substrate bias process-window for growth of bcc-Ta was observed. However, the process-window position changed with changing inclination angles of the substrate. The formation of this low-resistivity bcc-phase could be understood in light of the high ion flux from the HIPIMS discharge.

  • Relationship of grain fructan content to degree of polymerisation in different barleys
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Food and Nutrition Sciences. - : Scientific Research Publishing, Inc.. - 2157-944X .- 2157-9458. ; 5, s. 581-589
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Fructans are important in the survival of plants and also valuable for humans as potentially health promoting food ingredients. In this study fructan content and composition were determined in grains of 20 barley breeding lines and cultivars with a wide variation in chemical composition, morphology and country of origin, grown at one site in Chile. There was significant genotypic variation in grain fructan content ranging from 0.9% to 4.2% of grain dry weight. Fructan degree of polymerisation (DP) was analysed using high-performance anion-exchange chromatography with pulsed amperometric detection (HPAEC-PAD). Changes in the distribution of different chain lengths and the pattern of structures of fructan were detected with increasing amount of fructan in the different barleys. A positive correlation was found between fructan content and the relative amount of long chain fructan (DP > 9) (r = 0.54, p = 0.021). Our results provide a basis for selecting promising barley lines and cultivars for further research on fructan in barley breeding with the aim to produce healthy food products.

  • Effect of different temperature cycle profiles on the crack propagation and microstructural evolution of Sn-3.8Ag-0.7Cu solder joints
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: 15th European Microelectronics and Packaging Conference and Exhibition, EMPC 2005 - Conference Programme and Proceedings. ; 2005, s. 523-528
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Temperature cycling of real electronic components was carried out in a systematic manner at two different temperature profiles and in a single-chamber Heraeus climate cabinet. The first temperature profile ranged between -55°C and 100°C and the second between 0°C and 100°C. Top-side SMD components (chip resistors and Ball Grid Arrays (BGA)) were soldered with Sn-3.8Ag-0.7Cu lead free solder paste. Crack initiation and propagation was analyzed after every 500 cycles for each temperature cycling profile. Totally, 6500 cycles were run at both temperature profiles. Finite element modeling (FEM) calculations, for the analysis of strain and stress of 1206 chip joints were used to corroborate the experimental work results, especially regarding the crack initiation sites. Cracks were firstly visible for the temperature cycling ranging between -55°C and 100°C. The cracks observed were also visibly smaller for the temperature profile ranging between 0°C and 100°C, concluding that crack initiation and propagation was slightly slower for this temperature profile. Cracks continued to propagate as a function of temperature cycles. The reason for this difference in crack initiation and propagation was also analyzed.

  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Microelectronics and Reliability. - : Elsevier BV. - 0026-2714. ; 47:2-3, s. 266-272
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Temperature cycling of a test board with different electronic components was carried out at two different temperature profiles in a single-chamber climate cabinet. The first temperature profile ranged between 55 and 100 C and the second between 0 and 100 C. Hole mounted components and secondary side SMD components were wave soldered with an Sn–3.5Ag alloy. Joints of both dual in line(DIL) packages and ceramic chip capacitors were investigated. Crack initiation and propagation was analysed after every 500 cycles. In total, 6500 cycles were run at both temperature profiles and the observations from each profile were compared. For both kinds of components analysed, cracks were first visible for the temperature profile ranging between 55 and 100 C. For this temperature profile, and for DIL packages, cracks were visible already after 500 cycles, whereas for the other temperature profile, cracks initiated between 1000 and 1500 cycles. The cracks observed after 1500 cycles were visibly smaller for the temperature profile ranging between 0 and 100 C, concluding that crack initiation and propagation was slightly slower for this temperature profile. For the chip capacitors, cracks were first visible after 2000 cycles.

  • Thermal cycling aging effect on the shear strength, microstructure, IMC and initiation and propagation of surface mounted Sn-3.8Ag-0.7Cu and wave soldered Sn-3.5Ag ceramic chip components
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: IEEE Transactions on Components and Packaging Technologies. - 1521-3331. ; 31:2, s. 331-344
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Temperature cycling of electronic components was carried out at two different temperature profiles, the first ranging between -55°C and 100°C (TC1) and the second between 0°C and 100°C (TC2). Totally, 7000 cycles were run at TC1 and 14500 cycles at TC2. The test board’s top-side components were surface mounted using Sn-3.8Ag-0.7Cu solder alloy, and bottom side SMD components were wave soldered with Sn-3.5Ag alloy. The solder joint degradation was investigated as a function of cycle number by means of shear strength measurements and cross-sectioning. The shear strength drop was correlated to both crack initiation time and propagation rate, and Microstructural changes. The effect of manufacturing process (reflow versus wave soldering) and component size (0805 versus 0603 components) on the shear strength were also investigated. For both reflow and wave soldered components, the harsher the test environment the faster and largest the decrease in shear strength. The shear force is higher for the 0805 components compared to the 0603. The effect of component size on the residual shear strength is higher for the testing condition TC1. TC1 also seems to have a higher effect on the residual shear strength compared to TC2. The main difference between wave soldered and reflow soldered components is that the shear strength is in average higher for the wave soldered components compared to the reflow soldered. For the reflow soldered components using SAC, the microstructure coarsens, especially the Ag3Sn intermetallic particles. Furthermore, this alloy shows an increase of the IMC layer (Cu-Ni-Sn) thickness, and the IMC layer growth is controlled by a diffusion mechanism. The IMC growth coefficient is for the SAC system tested at TC1 0.0231 μm/hr1/2 (0.00053μm/hr) and for TC2 0.0054 μm/hr1/2 (2.9*10-5μm/hr). The microstructural changes during thermal cycling are a result of both static and strain-enhanced aging. For the wave soldered components the microstructure also became coarser, however, the IMC layer (Ni3Sn4) thickness did not change. The IMC layer growth does not affect the shear strength for the test conditions applied in this work. The shear strength decrease observed in the present work as a result of thermal cycling is a result of both microstructural coarsening and crack propagation inside the solder joint.

  • Thermal cycling of lead-free Sn-3.8Ag-0.7Cu 388PBGA packages
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Soldering and Surface Mount Technology. - : Emerald. - 1758-6836 .- 0954-0911. ; 21:2, s. 28-38
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to assess the effect of different temperature cycling profiles on the reliability of lead-free 388 plastic ball grid array (PBGA) packages and to deeply understand crack initiation and propagation.Design/methodology/approach - Temperature cycling of Sn-3.8Ag-0.7Cu PBGA packages was carried out at two temperature profiles, the first ranging between - 55 degrees C and 100 degrees C (TC1) and the second between 0 degrees C and 100 degrees C (TC2). Crack initiation and propagation was analyzed periodically and totally 7,000 cycles were run for TO and 14,500 for TC2. Finite element modeling (FEM), for the analysis of strain and stress, was used to corroborate the experimental results.Findings - The paper finds that TC1 had a characteristic life of 5,415 cycles and TC2 of 14,094 cycles, resulting in an acceleration factor of 2.6 between both profiles. Cracks were first visible for TC1, after 2,500 cycles, and only after 4,000 cycles for TC2. The crack propagation rate was faster for TC1 compared to TC2, and faster at the package side compared to the substrate side. The difference in crack propagation rate between the package side and substrate side was much larger for TC1 compared to TC2. Cracks developed first at the package side, and were also larger compared to the substrate side. The Cu tracks on the substrate side affected the crack propagation sites and behaved as SMD. All cracks propagated through the solder and crack propagation was mainly intergranular. Crack propagation was very random and did not follow the distance to neutral point (DNP) theory. FEM corroborated the experimental results, showing both the same critical location of highest creep strain and the independence of DNP.Originality/value - Such extensive work on the reliability assessment of Pb-free 388 PBGA packages has never been performed. This work also corroborates the results from other studies showing the difference in behavior between Pb-free and Pb-containing alloys.

  • A Numerical Study of Material Parameter Sensitivity in the Production of Hard Metal Components Using Powder Compaction
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Journal of materials engineering and performance (Print). - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1059-9495 .- 1544-1024. ; 23:6, s. 2199-2208
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Modeling of hard metal powder inserts is analyzed based on a continuum mechanics approach. In particular, one commonly used cutting insert geometry is studied. For a given advanced constitutive description of the powder material, the material parameter space required to accurately model the mechanical behavior is determined. These findings are then compared with the corresponding parameter space that can possibly be determined from a combined numerical/experimental analysis of uniaxial die powder compaction utilizing inverse modeling. The analysis is pertinent to a particular WC/Co powder and the finite element method is used in the numerical investigations of the mechanical behavior of the cutting insert.

  • Ingår i: Powder Technology. - : Elsevier BV. - 0032-5910 .- 1873-328X. ; 202:1-3, s. 78-88
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A numerical analysis, using the finite element method, of the mechanical behavior at powder compaction at higher densities was performed. In this investigation the material behavior is modeled using an advanced macroscopic constitutive description initially presented by Brandt and Nilsson [1]. This material model, like many other models describing powder compaction at higher densities, includes a large number of constitutive parameters and as a result, a complete material characterization is a difficult task to perform or at least requires a large number of different experiments. A remedy to this problem is to apply inverse modeling, i.e. optimization, for determination of relevant material properties from comparatively simple experiments. It is then of course important, in order to achieve high accuracy results from the optimization procedure, that the stress fields produced during the experiments involves high gradients of stress. Adhering to simple uniaxial die compaction experiments the main parameter that can be used in order to achieve such a feature is the geometry of the punch used for load application. In the present investigation a number of punch profiles are studied and it is found that a skewed punch geometry is the most appropriate one to be used for experimental die compaction aiming at a constitutive description of the powder material based on inverse modeling. The main efforts are devoted towards an analysis based on the previously mentioned material model by Brandt and Nilsson [1] but also relevant results for another type of constitutive model will be presented. • In order to decrease the amount of experimental work at material characterization of powder mixtures, optimization procedures are often used. In the present study, characterization of WC/Co powders described by an advanced plasticity model is at issue. In particular, uniaxial die compaction is analyzed numerically in order to determine the correlation between material parameters, scalar and functional, and measurable information from experiments. Such information include radial (contact) pressure between powder and die walls, press force as function of indentation depth and frictional effects between powder and die walls. The commercial finite element solver LS-Dyna and the optimization module LS-OPT are used in the present investigation.

    • Dry pressing powder compaction is analyzed using the finite element method (FEM) and in particular then the explicit commercial FEM program LS-DYNA. The aim is then to determine the sensitivity of mechanical local and global parameters with respect to different constitutive as well as geometrical variables. A very advanced constitutive description (not available as standard in commercial FEM packages but implemented into LS-DYNA for the present investigation) is used in the numerical analysis, Brandt and Nilsson [1], and the results are particularly helpful for a forthcoming inverse analysis where it is crucial, for reasons of efficiency, to reduce the number of variables in the optimization procedure aiming at a accurate description of the mechanical behavior of the powder material. It should be clearly stated that the geometrical parameters to be investigated include different possible press geometries to be used for experimental verification of the results.

    • ObjectiveThe role of genetics for predicting the response to cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) for social anxiety disorder (SAD) has only been studied in one previous investigation. The serotonin transporter (5-HTTLPR), the catechol-o-methyltransferase (COMT) val158met, and the tryptophan hydroxylase-2 (TPH2) G-703Tpolymorphisms are implicated in the regulation of amygdala reactivity and fear extinction and therefore might be of relevance for CBT outcome. The aim of the present study was to investigate if these three gene variants predicted response to CBT in a large sample of SAD patients.MethodParticipants were recruited from two separate randomized controlled CBT trials (trial 1: n = 112, trial 2: n = 202). Genotyping were performed on DNA extracted from blood or saliva samples. Effects were analyzed at follow-up (6 or 12 months after treatment) for both groups and for each group separately at post-treatment. The main outcome measure was the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale Self-Report.ResultsAt long-term follow-up, there was no effect of any genotype, or gene × gene interactions, on treatment response. In the subsamples, there was time by genotype interaction effects indicating an influence of the TPH2 G-703T-polymorphism on CBT short-term response, however the direction of the effect was not consistent across trials.ConclusionsNone of the three gene variants, 5-HTTLPR, COMTval158met and TPH2 G-703T, was associated with long-term response to CBT for SAD.

  • Effects of varying compressive biaxial strain on the hydrogen uptake of thin vanadium (001) layers
  • 1999
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physics. - : IOP Publishing. - 0953-8984 .- 1361-648X. ; 11:35, s. 6669-6677
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The hydrogen uptake of asymmetric Fe/V (001) superlattices with LFe/LV = 3/16 monolayers and 3/10 monolayers was investigated by resistometric methods. The hydrogen distribution and the enthalpy of solution were simulated using a diffusion model and calculated H-H interaction energies. It was found that the strain state of the V lattice strongly influenced the H-H interaction. The hydrogen-depleted interface region in the V layers was populated at lower concentrations than in previously studied symmetric samples, which implied that the energy difference between interior and interface regions was lowered. The V-H binding energy was found to be up to 60 meV higher than in the symmetric superlattices.

  • C-reactive protein is a determinant of first-ever stroke: prospective nested case-referent study.
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Cerebrovascular diseases (Basel, Switzerland). - : S. Karger AG. - 1421-9786 .- 1015-9770. ; 27:6, s. 544-51
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: C-reactive protein (CRP) is a determinant of stroke, but there are no prospective studies on CRP and first ischemic stroke divided into etiologic subtypes. Our primary aim was to study CRP as a determinant of ischemic stroke, classified according to Trial of ORG 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment (TOAST) criteria, and intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) in a prospective study. A secondary aim was to study the relationship between the 1444C>T polymorphism, plasma levels of CRP and stroke. METHODS: The study was a prospective population-based case-referent study nested within the Northern Sweden Cohorts. We defined 308 cases of ischemic stroke and 61 ICH. Two controls for each case were defined from the same cohort. RESULTS: The OR for the highest (>3 mg/l) versus lowest group (<1 mg/l) of CRP was 2.58 (95% CI 1.74-3.84) for ischemic stroke and 1.63 (95% CI 0.67-3.93) for ICH. In a multivariate model including traditional risk factors, CRP remained associated with ischemic stroke (OR 2.06; 95% CI 1.29-3.29). Small-vessel disease was associated with CRP in the multivariate model (OR 3.88; 95% CI 1.10-13.7). The CRP 1444 (CC/CT vs. TT) polymorphism was associated with plasma levels of CRP but neither with ischemic stroke nor with ICH. CONCLUSIONS: This prospective population-based study shows that CRP is significantly associated with the risk of having a first ischemic stroke, especially for small-vessel disease. No significant associations were found between the CRP 1444C>T polymorphism and any stroke subtype.

  • High-accuracy sampling of saproxylic diversity indicators at regional scales with pheromones : The case of Elater ferrugineus (Coleoptera, Elateridae)
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Biological Conservation. - : Elsevier BV. - 0006-3207 .- 1873-2917. ; 171, s. 156-166
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The rare beetle Elater ferrugineus was sampled at 47 sites in the county of Östergötland, Sweden by means of pheromone-baited traps to assess its value as an indicator species for hollow oak stands rich in rare saproxylic beetle species. In addition, Osmoderma eremita was also sampled with pheromone baits. These data were then compared against species survey data collected at the same sites by pitfall and window traps. Both species co-occur with many Red Listed saproxylic beetles, with E. ferrugineus being a somewhat better indicator for the rarest species. The conservation value of a site (measured as Red List points or number of Red Listed species) increased with the number of specimens of E. ferrugineus and O. eremita caught. Accuracy of sampling by means of pheromone trapping turned out to be radically different for the two model species. E. ferrugineus traps put out during July obtained full accuracy after only 6. days, whereas O. eremita traps needed to be out from early July to mid-August in order to obtain full accuracy with one trap per site. By using E. ferrugineus, or preferably both species, as indicator species, accuracy would increase and costs decrease for saproxylic biodiversity sampling, monitoring and identification of hotspots. © 2014 Elsevier Ltd.

  • Storage of Transfusion Platelet Concentrates is Associated with Complement Activation and Reduced Ability of Platelets to Respond to Protease-Activated Receptor-1 and Thromboxane A2 Receptor
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Molecular Sciences. - : MDPI. - 1661-6596 .- 1422-0067. ; 25:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Platelet activation and the complement system are mutually dependent. Here, we investigated the effects of storage time on complement activation and platelet function in routinely produced platelet concentrates. The platelet concentrates (n = 10) were stored at 22 degrees C for seven days and assessed daily for complement and platelet activation markers. Additionally, platelet function was analyzed in terms of their responsiveness to protease-activated receptor-1 (PAR-1) and thromboxane A2 receptor (TXA(2)R) activation and their capacity to adhere to collagen. Complement activation increased over the storage period for all analyzed markers, including the C1rs/C1-INH complex (fold change (FC) = 1.9; p < 0.001), MASP-1/C1-INH complex (FC = 2.0; p < 0.001), C4c (FC = 1.8, p < 0.001), C3bc (FC = 4.0; p < 0.01), and soluble C5b-9 (FC = 1.7, p < 0.001). Furthermore, the levels of soluble platelet activation markers increased in the concentrates over the seven-day period, including neutrophil-activating peptide-2 (FC = 2.5; p < 0.0001), transforming growth factor beta 1 (FC = 1.9; p < 0.001) and platelet factor 4 (FC = 2.1; p < 0.0001). The ability of platelets to respond to activation, as measured by surface expression of CD62P and CD63, decreased by 19% and 24% (p < 0.05) for PAR-1 and 69-72% (p < 0.05) for TXA(2)R activation, respectively, on Day 7 compared to Day 1. The extent of platelet binding to collagen was not significantly impaired during storage. In conclusion, we demonstrated that complement activation increased during the storage of platelets, and this correlated with increased platelet activation and a reduced ability of the platelets to respond to, primarily, TXA(2)R activation.

  • Additive-like amounts of HDPE prevent creep of molten LDPE: Phase-behavior and thermo-mechanical properties of a melt-miscible blend
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Journal of Polymer Science, Part B: Polymer Physics. - : Wiley. - 1099-0488 .- 0887-6266. ; 55:2, s. 146-156
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is the preferred type of polyolefin for many medical and electrical applications because of its superior purity and cleanliness. However, the inferior thermo-mechanical properties as compared to, for example, high-density polyethylene (HDPE), which arise because of the lower melting temperature of LDPE, constitute a significant drawback. Here, we demonstrate that the addition of minute amounts of HDPE to a LDPE resin considerably improves the mechanical integrity above the melting temperature of LDPE. A combination of dynamic mechanical analysis and creep experiments reveals that the addition of as little as 1 to 2 wt% HDPE leads to complete form stability above the melting temperature of LDPE. The investigated LDPE/HDPE blend is found to be miscible in the melt, which facilitates the formation of a solid-state microstructure that features a fine distribution of HDPE-rich lamellae. The absence of creep above the melting temperature of LDPE is rationalized with the presence of tie chains and trapped entanglements that connect the few remaining crystallites.

  • Highly Insulating Polyethylene Blends for High-Voltage Direct-Current Power Cables
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: ACS Macro Letters. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 2161-1653. ; 6:2, s. 78-82
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The insulation of state-of-the-art extruded high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) power cables is composed of cross-linked low-density polyethylene. Driven by the search for sustainable energy solutions, concepts that improve the ability to withstand high electrical fields and, ultimately, the power transmission efficiency are in high demand. The performance of a HVDC insulation material is limited by its residual electrical conductivity. Here, we demonstrate that the addition of small amounts of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) to a low-density polyethylene (LDPE) resin results in a drastic reduction in DC conductivity. An HDPE content as low as 1 wt % is found to introduce a small population of thicker crystalline lamellae, which are finely distributed throughout the material. The change in nanostructure correlates with a decrease in DC conductivity by approximately 1 order of magnitude to about 10(-15) S m(-1) at high electric fields of 30 and 40 kV mm(-1) and elevated temperature of 70 degrees C. This work opens up an alternative design concept for the insulation of HVDC power cables.
