  • Leakage of astrocyte-derived extracellular vesicles in stress-induced exhaustion disorder: a cross-sectional study
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Scientific reports. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 2045-2322. ; 11:1, s. 2009-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Patients with stress-induced exhaustion disorder (SED) demonstrate cognitive dysfunction similar to patients with minor traumatic brain injury (TBI). We have previously detected elevated concentrations of astrocyte-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) in patients with TBI. As such, we hypothesized that astrocyte-derived EVs could be higher in patients with SED than in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) and healthy controls. Patients with SED (n = 31), MDD (n = 31), and healthy matched controls (n = 61) were included. Astrocyte-derived EVs (previously known as microparticles) were measured in plasma with flow cytometry and labeled against glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and aquaporin 4 (AQP4). In addition, platelet EVs and their CD40 ligand expression were measured. Patients with SED had significantly higher concentrations of AQP4 and GFAP-positive EVs and EVs co-expressing AQP4/GFAP than patients with MDD and healthy controls. Patients with MDD had significantly higher concentrations of GFAP-positive EVs and EVs co-expressing AQP4/GFAP than healthy controls. Platelet EVs did not differ between groups. CD40 ligand expression was significantly higher in patients with SED and MDD than in controls. In conclusion, the present study suggests that patients with SED, and to some extent, patients with MDD, have increased leakage of astrocyte-derived EVs through the blood–brain barrier.

  • Spectroscopic observations, spin-orbit functions, and coupled-channel deperturbation analysis of data on the A (1)Sigma(+)(u) and b (3)Pi(u) states of Rb-2
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Physical Review A (Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics). - 1050-2947. ; 80:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present experimentally derived potential curves and spin-orbit interaction functions for the strongly perturbed A (1)Sigma(+)(u) and b (3)Pi(u) states of the rubidium dimer. The results are based on laser-induced fluorescence and optical-optical double-resonance polarization spectroscopy measurements combined with earlier laser-induced fluorescence data. We used an analytic potential (Hannover form) incorporated in a discrete variable representation of the Hamiltonian matrix for numerical energy-level calculation. A previous vibrational assignment of the A levels is confirmed, and very probable vibrational assignment for the b levels is also obtained. Currently, the rms residual of our fit is 0.053 cm(-1) as compared to the typical experimental uncertainties that are estimated to be 0.005 cm(-1). Fitted diagonal and off-diagonal spin-orbit functions are obtained and compared with ab initio calculations by all electrons and effective core pseudopotential methods. Analysis of the computational results yields an explanation for the ubiquitous single minima in these spin-orbit functions, which can be represented approximately by Morse-type functions.

  • Framework for Estimating Congestion performance measures : from data collection to reliability analysis: case study of Stockholm
  • 2008
  • Licentiatavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • For operational and planning purposes it is important to observe and predict the traffic performance of congested urban road links and networks. Congestion can be defined as traffic conditions caused by a downstream bottleneck or excess in travel time from what is incurred during light or free-flow travel conditions. Factors affecting definitions of congestion for specific studies are reviewed and an inventory of proposed congestion performance measures is presented for both definitions of congestion.Swedish Road Administration has recognized the reliability of the estimations of congestion levels as an important factor when describing the traffic condition in the road traffic network. Traffic data collected for the Stockholm congestion charging trials was used to estimate selected congestion performance measures and to analyze their statistical characteristics and applicability. A comparative analysis of data collection methods is provided and further recommendations for their using estimating Congestion Performance Measures. The reliability of the estimations of each Congestion Performance Measure is evaluated for different area networks and different time periods of the day. These series of observations are further studied aiming to identify systematic differences in the reliability of the estimations. A reliability ranking is provided for guiding future studies in the selection of estimators. Further, a simplify methodology for estimating recommended sample sized under budget restricted conditions is provided.
