  • A sensor framework for combined data streams and in-situ characterization of machining processes
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Procedia CIRP. - : Elsevier BV. ; , s. 868-872
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Machining vibrations is a critical phenomenon in the industry as they negatively affect the quality and tool-life. One common avoidance strategy for machining vibrations is the fine-tuning of process parameters, thus leading to longer production time. Our research addresses this challenge and uses different streams of data to classify problematic processes. Data streams of machining parameters, tool position, loads, vibration sensors, together with process plan data and cutting tool usage information, are visualized. Experiments are performed to derive classification criteria. These results are then used to observe vibrations in a five-axis machining center for further process adjustment.

  • Digital Twin of a Cutting Tool
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Procedia CIRP. - : Elsevier. - 2212-8271. ; 72, s. 215-218
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper focuses on a digital twin of a cutting tool as a digital replica of a physical tool, its data format and structure, information flows and data management, as well as possibilities for further applications and analysis of productivity. Data are collected throughout the production lifecycle in an accurate way, using the international standard ISO 13399 and messaging based on the previously developed event-driven line information system architecture (LISA) with IoT functionality. The digital twin is tweeted to be stored, refined and propagated to the process planning for an optimized machining solution.

  • Production Across the Nordics
  • 2022
  • Rapport (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • In the uncertain and volatile market that companies are currently facing worldwide, researchers and engineers become a key link to strengthen the industry and universities in order to understand, communicate, and tackle current challenges. In the PhD course, International Production, the goal is to investigate what makes Sweden and Iceland booming industrial hubs driven by technology. Through the visits to different types of industries, such as fintech, medical, or automotive industry, we as researchers have gained a better understanding of the challenges they are currently facing. This report is a summary of our findings and observations.   The participants have focused on the six challenge areas highlighted within the Produktion2030 graduate school and summarize their findings as:   •Resource-efficient production:  Data as a resource is becoming increasingly important for the majority of companies in the Nordics and the application of traditional resource management tools on data is a suggested area for future research.   •Flexible production: To strengthen organizations by enabling production systems to be flexible to address market variations is a key challenge to consider in the manufacturing industry •Virtual production development: Digitalization level is distinct in each Nodic country with the reason that each country has its own digitalization transformation policy and different measures on digitalization level.  •Humans in the production system: Humans are central in the production systems of the visited companies. Use of automation technology and AI to support humans in their work may become more common in the future. •Circular production systems and maintenance: Circular production systems require a complex approach through the whole value chain. Industry in the Nordics has started the adoption of a circularity approach.  •Integrated product and production development:  Integration of product and production development is a key business factor for the Nordic countries, and geographical proximity between the two departments can have a beneficial effect.   We hope that this report provides more details regarding the success and current challenges of the Swedish and Icelandic enterprises.

  • Experimental and ab initio studies of the novel piperidine-containing acetylene glycols
  • Annan publikation (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Synthesis routes of novel piperidine-containing diacetylene are presented. The new molecules are expected to exhibit plant growth stimulation properties. In particular, the yield in a situation of drought is expected to increase. The synthesis makes use of the Favorskii reaction between cycloketones/piperidone and triple-bond containing glycols. The geometries of the obtained molecules were determined using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The electronic structure and geometries of the molecules were studied theoretically using first-principles calculations based on density functional theory. The calculated geometries agree very well with the experimentally measured ones, and also allow us to determine bond lengths, angles and charge distributions inside the molecules. The stability of the OH-radicals located close to the triple bond and the piperidine/cyclohexane rings was proven by both experimental and theoretical analyses. The HOMO/LUMO analysis was done in order to characterize the electron density of the molecule. The calculations show that triple bond does not participate in intermolecular reactions which excludes the instability of novel materials as a reason for low production rate.
