  • Analysis of sound transmission loss of double-leaf walls in the low-frequency range using the finite element method
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Building Acoustics. - : SAGE Publications. - 1351-010X .- 2059-8025. ; 11:4, s. 239-257
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The sound transmission loss of double walls in the low-frequency range is studied by means of structure-acoustic finite element analysis. The analysis simulates standard experiments to determine sound transmission loss of walls. The model is a detailed description of the geometry of the system, including both the double wall and the rooms acoustically coupled to the wall. The frequency range studied is in the 1/3-octave bands between 40 Hz and 200 Hz. A parametric study is performed to investigate the influence on the sound transmission loss of various material and geometric properties of the wall and the dimensions of the connecting rooms. The model confirms the importance of primary structural resonance and the size of the connecting rooms in determining the degree of sound transmission loss. The primary structural resonance is mainly determined by the distance between the wall studs and the properties of the sheeting material. Wall length is also important; if the length is such that the wall studs of the last wall cavity are closer together than those of the other wall cavities, the primary structural resonance will be at a higher frequency, thereby decreasing sound transmission loss over a broader frequency range. Similar dimensions of the connecting rooms results in poor transmission loss, mainly at frequencies below 100 Hz (for the wall and room dimensions studied here).

  • Psychological well-being of hybrid entrepreneurs
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Journal of Business Venturing Insights. - : Elsevier. - 2352-6734. ; 17
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Although the phenomenon of hybrid entrepreneurs—individuals who work in paid and self-employment simultaneously—is prevalent, the psychological well-being of hybrid entrepreneurs has not been researched systematically to date. This is unlike research on paid employment and (assumed) full-time entrepreneurship, where psychological well-being has been researched as a key factor. Using data from the United Kingdom Household Longitudinal Survey, we address this void by studying whether hybrid entrepreneurs display distinct psychological well-being patterns (measured via mental strain, job satisfaction, and life satisfaction), utilizing a comparison with full-time paid employed, full-time self-employed and individuals working in two paid jobs. We further examine whether the specific work arrangements of hybrid entrepreneurs shape their well-being. To this end, we study the changes in well-being of hybrid entrepreneurs and other individuals in the comparison groups who switch to other jobs. For this purpose, we employed matching (entropy balancing approach) to account for self-selection effects. Our results suggest that the well-being of hybrid entrepreneurs is indeed distinct and can be explained by both self-selection effects and unique aspects of their work arrangements. Our study is thus the first to deliver evidence showing that hybrid entrepreneurs need to be studied as a separate group in entrepreneurship research concerned with well-being and psychological functioning. Our results have important implications not only for future research but also for practice.

  • When to “pull the plug” and when to “take the plunge”: the timing of strategic decisions towards new ventures
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Australian Centre for Entrepreneurship Research Exchange Conference 2014, 4-7 February 2014, Sydney, Australia: Conference Proceedings. - Brisbane : Queensland University of Technology. - 9781921897962
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Firms face opposing incentives regarding when to take strategic decisions towards their exploration ventures. On the one hand, postponing can reduce uncertainty, but on the other, moving quickly allows capitalizing on a potential competitive advantage. Drawing on theories of entrepreneurship and real options reasoning, we suggest that firms resolve the competing tensions for acceleration and deceleration through an assessment of their venture portfolio and environment. An empirical study of the timing of termination and exploitation decisions taken with regard to 3,272 exploration ventures in Australia’s mining industry over the years 2002-2011 provides an insight into the drivers of decision timing. We find that venture portfolio composition is an important driver of timing— but only with regard to exploitation decisions. Higher levels of market uncertainty increase the time to venture termination but not exploitation, and a positive market trajectory increases the time to venture termination, yet decreases the time to exploitation. Finally, we find support for interaction effects between the portfolio and market. The overall pattern of findings sheds new light on the tension between deceleration and acceleration in entrepreneurial strategic decision making and highlights the importance of distinguishing between the timing of different types of decisions.

    • Firms face opposing incentives regarding when to make strategic decisions about their exploration ventures. On the one hand, postponing a decision can reduce uncertainty, while on the other hand, moving quickly allows one to capitalize on favorable market conditions. Drawing on theories of entrepreneurship, real options reasoning, and decision speed, we suggest that firms resolve competing tensions between acceleration and deceleration through an assessment of their venture portfolio and environment. An empirical study of the timing of termination and exploitation decisions regarding 3,272 exploration ventures in Australia’s mining industry over the years 2002–2011 provides insights into the drivers of decision timing. Higher levels of market uncertainty increase the time to venture termination but not exploitation, and a positive market trajectory increases the time to venture termination yet decreases the time to venture exploitation. We also find support for an interaction effect between the portfolio and market characteristics. This pattern of findings sheds light on the tension between acceleration and deceleration in strategic decision making and highlights the importance of distinguishing between the timing of different types of decisions.

  • Digital or not – The future of entrepreneurship and innovation : Introduction to the special issue
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Journal of Business Research. - : Elsevier. - 0148-2963 .- 1873-7978. ; 125, s. 436-442
  • Tidskriftsartikel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Digitization is arguably currently the single most important force in entrepreneurship and innovation. In this special issue editorial, we shed light on the current state of digital entrepreneurship and digital innovation research to take stock of past research and identify opportunities for the future. The 11 papers in this special issue present a decisive step in extending the current research by either exploring the context of digital entrepreneurship and digital innovation, by operationalizing digital technologies as moderators or mediators, or by modeling the particularities of the role of digital technologies as independent or dependent variables. This editorial suggests paths for future research and specifically calls for more joint consideration of digital entrepreneurship and digital innovation along with specific theory building and testing that incorporates the specificities of digitization. An important aspect in that process is extending the understanding of the dark side of digitization.

  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Transportation Research Procedia. - : Elsevier BV. - 2352-1465. ; , s. 36-50, s. 36-50
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper gives an overview of the Swedish trunk road system and present objectives, guidelines concerning capacity and level of service procedures to assess these issues in the feasibility and design procedure are also described. An important goal in Sweden is investments and speed limit changes over a 10 year time scale to decrease the C02-exposure. The long term speed limit overview with the objective to require median barriers at speed limits over 80 kph with results so far is presented. By now over 50 % of the former traffic load over 80 kph is decreased to 80 kph. Some 2,700 km have been retrofitted to 2+1 median barrier roads with speed limit mainly 100 kph.An overview is also given of the updated Swedish Highway Capacity Manual with new chapters especially on jam densities, entry lanes, weaving areas and traffic signals. Some interesting research projects are also briefly covered. These are 2+1 median barrier roads, capacities at motorway work zones, speed harmonisation with variable speed limits on motorways to increase capacity, ramp metering and Drive Me (autonomous driving full scale tests).

  • New Perspectives on the Interactions between Adsorption and Degradation of Organic Micropollutants in Granular Activated Carbon Filters
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: Environmental Science and Technology. - : American Chemical Society. - 0013-936X .- 1520-5851. ; 58:26, s. 11771-11780
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The removal of organic micropollutants in granular activated carbon (GAC) filters can be attributed to adsorption and biological degradation. These two processes can interact with each other or proceed independently. To illustrate the differences in their interaction, three 14C-labeled organic micropollutants with varying potentials for adsorption and biodegradation were selected to study their adsorption and biodegradation in columns with adsorbing (GAC) and non-adsorbing (sand) filter media. Using 14CO2 formation as a marker for biodegradation, we demonstrated that the biodegradation of poorly adsorbing N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) was more sensitive to changes in the empty bed contact time (EBCT) compared with that of moderately adsorbing diclofenac. Further, diclofenac that had adsorbed under anoxic conditions could be degraded when molecular oxygen became available, and substantial biodegradation (≥60%) of diclofenac could be achieved with a 15 min EBCT in the GAC filter. These findings suggest that the retention of micropollutants in GAC filters, by prolonging the micropollutant residence time through adsorption, can enable longer time periods for degradations than what the hydraulic retention time would allow for. For the biologically recalcitrant compound carbamazepine, differences in breakthrough between the 14C-labeled and nonradiolabeled compounds revealed a substantial retention via successive adsorption-desorption, which could pose a potential challenge in the interpretation of GAC filter performance.

  • Ozonation of 14C-labeled micropollutants – mineralization of labeled moieties and adsorption of transformation products to activated carbon
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Water Research. - : Elsevier BV. - 0043-1354 .- 1879-2448. ; 221
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Ozonation transformation products (OTPs) are largely unknown compounds that are formed during the ozonation of micropollutants, and it is uncertain to which extent these compounds can be removed by subsequent adsorption to activated carbon. Thus, 14C-labeled micropollutants were ozonated to generate 14C-labeled OTPs, for which the adsorption of the sum of all 14C-labeled OTPs to activated carbon could be determined, based on the adsorption of the labeled carbon. Further, 14CO2 traps were used to examine the mineralization of 14C-labeled moieties during ozonation. 14CO2-formation revealed a partial mineralization of the 14C-labeled moieties in all compounds except for propyl-labeled bisphenol A and O-methyl-labeled naproxen. A similar degree of mineralization was noted for different compounds labeled at the same moiety, including the carboxylic carbon in diclofenac and ibuprofen (∼40% at 1 g O3/g DOC) and the aniline ring in sulfamethoxazole and sulfadiazine (∼30% at 1 g O3/g DOC). Aromatic ring cleavage was also confirmed for bisphenol A, sulfamethoxazole, and sulfadiazine through the formation of 14CO2. The adsorption experiments demonstrated increased adsorption of micropollutants to powdered activated carbon after ozonation, which was connected to a decreased adsorption of dissolved organic matter (DOM). Conversely, the OTPs showed a substantial and successive decline in adsorption at increased ozone doses for all compounds, likely due to decreased hydrophobicity and aromaticity of the OTPs. These findings indicate that adsorption to activated carbon alone is not a viable removal method for a wide range of ozonation transformation products.

  • Tracking 14C-labeled organic micropollutants to differentiate between adsorption and degradation in GAC and biofilm processes
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Environmental Science and Technology. - : The American Chemical Society (ACS). - 0013-936X .- 1520-5851. ; 55:16, s. 11318-11327
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Granular activated carbon (GAC) filters can be used to reduce emissions of organic micropollutants via municipal wastewater, but it is still uncertain to which extent biological degradation contributes to their removal in GAC filters. 14C-labeled organic micropollutants were therefore used to distinguish degradation from adsorption in a GAC-filter media with associated biofilm. The rates and extents of biological degradation and adsorption were investigated and compared with other biofilm systems, including a moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) and a sand filter, by monitoring 14C activities in the liquid and gas phases. The microbial cleavage of ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac, and mecoprop was confirmed for all biofilms, based on the formation of 14CO2, whereas the degradation of 14C-labeled moieties of sulfamethoxazole and carbamazepine was undetected. Higher degradation rates for diclofenac were observed for the GAC-filter media than for the other biofilms. Degradation of previously adsorbed diclofenac onto GAC could be confirmed by the anaerobic adsorption and subsequent aerobic degradation by the GAC-bound biofilm. This study demonstrates the potential use of 14C-labeled micropollutants to study interactions and determine the relative contributions of adsorption and degradation in GAC-based treatment systems.

  • 2003
  • Ingår i: Applied Spectroscopy. - : SAGE Publications. - 1943-3530 .- 0003-7028. ; 57:2, s. 216-222
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A detailed experimental investigation has been made of the pyrolysis-the first step in biomass combustion-of single birchwood particles. In addition to mass spectrometric and gravimetric analysis, the pyrolysis volatiles were characterized by different optical techniques. Absorption measurements showed a nearly featureless absorption in the ultraviolet spectral region with a continuously stronger absorption for shorter wavelengths. Using different excitation wavelengths, laser-induced fluorescence measurements revealed generally broad spectra in the spectral region from 300-500 nm, which are characteristic spectral signatures for larger hydrocarbons. The optical data were monitored at different times in the pyrolysis process of the particles and compared with the results from the mass spectrometric and gravimetric analysis. The sensitivity of the optical techniques for differentiation between specific molecules was rather low, although formaldehyde could be observed both in absorption and fluorescence spectra. Laser-induced fluorescence measurements were also made for two-dimensional visualization of the pyrolysis volatiles; emitted from heated birchwood particles, indicating much higher flows along the fiber direction than across.

  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Methods in molecular biology (Clifton, N.J.). - Totowa, NJ : Humana Press. - 1940-6029. ; 1124, s. 39-52
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A wealth of knowledge on the life and death of human neutrophils has been obtained by the in vitro study of isolated cells derived from peripheral blood. However, neutrophils are of main importance, physiologically as well as pathologically, after they have left circulation and transmigrated to extravascular tissues. The journey from blood to tissue is complex and eventful, and tissue neutrophils are in many aspects distinct from the cells left in circulation. Here we describe how to obtain human tissue neutrophils in a controlled experimental setting from aseptic skin lesions created by the application of negative pressure. One protocol enables the direct analysis of the blister content, infiltrating leukocytes as well as exudate fluid, and is a simple method to follow multiple parameters of aseptic inflammation in vivo. Also described is the skin chamber technique, a method based on denuded skin blisters which are subsequently covered by collection chambers filled with autologous serum. Although slightly more artificial as compared to analysis of the blister content directly, the cellular yield of this skin chamber method is sufficient to perform a large number of functional analyses of in vivo transmigrated cells.

  • Power law distributions in entrepreneurship : Implications for theory and research
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Journal of Business Venturing. - : Elsevier Inc.. - 0883-9026 .- 1873-2003. ; 30:5, s. 696-713
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A long-held assumption in entrepreneurship research is that normal (i.e., Gaussian) distributions characterize variables of interest for both theory and practice. We challenge this assumption by examining more than 12,000 nascent, young, and hyper-growth firms. Results reveal that variables which play central roles in resource-, cognition-, action-, and environment-based entrepreneurship theories exhibit highly skewed power law distributions, where a few outliers account for a disproportionate amount of the distribution's total output. Our results call for the development of new theory to explain and predict the mechanisms that generate these distributions and the outliers therein. We offer a research agenda, including a description of non-traditional methodological approaches, to answer this call.

  • How organizations incorporate insights from stakeholder communication : The role of media and modal affordances
  • 2021
  • Doktorsavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Organizations are increasingly opening up to external voices that might carry new insights and help organizations to find their place in society. But the context through which organizations communicate with their stakeholders shapes how communication unfolds. Traditionally, organizations communicated with their stakeholders through shareholder letters, town hall meetings, or printed advertisements. Nowadays, cyberspace has opened up communication in multiple ways. It affords fast and boundless two-way communication between organizations and stakeholders and among stakeholders, that can be both a blessing and a curse. In any case, changes in the communication landscape have affected all types of organizations—large corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises, and newly started ventures. My research connects to ongoing discussions on how new media have shaped the landscape of organizations. Specifically, I explore how organizations incorporate insights from stakeholder communication from a practice-based view. This view allows me to magnify and understand better how the communication context shapes the interaction. My empirical research focuses on stakeholder communication in a single-case study of the world’s largest miniature model railway exhibition and three new venture ideation cases. I employ a mix of qualitative research methods, including digital data collection techniques.A bricolage of the four papers included in this dissertation frames the insights under the assumption that communication constitutes organization. It allows me to conceptualize the incorporation of new insights from stakeholder communication as a co-authoring process. Specifically, I show that modes provide the meaning-making resources through which humans communicate organizations into being. Media act as vessels of modes and shape how stakeholders can interact with—and co-author—the modes. My future research agenda focuses on two aspects. First, I suggest following more closely how new narratives that stakeholders offer during the co-authoring process subsequently travel through an organization. This question is particularly relevant in larger corporations where the newly proposed narratives have to travel more considerable distances between stakeholder communication practices and decision-making practices. Second, I suggest investigating stakeholder communication from a design perspective, that is, a study of the heuristics that managers and entrepreneurs employ before engaging in stakeholder communication.

  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Several investigators have noted limitations of the most commonly used dummy in rear impact testing, the Hybrid III. A dummy for rear impact testing, the BioRID I, has previously been presented. It was a step towards an effective tool for seat performance testing, but it was concluded that its neck extension and T1 upward motion were too small and that its user-friendliness could be improved.A new BioRID prototype has been developed. It has new neck muscle substitutes with damping and elastic elements that are independent of each other and fitted inside the torso. The new neck muscle substitutes extend to T3 and thus also load the upper thoracic spine. The new dummy has a softer thoracic spine and a torso made of softer rubber than was used for the original dummy. The BioRID prototype's performance was compared to that of volunteers, the BioRID I and Hybrid III in rear impacts at V=7 km/h. The kinematics response of the new BioRID prototype appears to be more human-like than that of the BioRID I and Hybrid III. The dummy also provides repeatable test results and is more user-friendly than the BioRID I.

  • 1998

    • A number of current projects are developing new crash test dummies for rear-end impact testing. The validation of such a dummy design requires human response data from pertinent test situations. The objectives of this study are to quantify human head, neck, chest, pelvis and femur mechanical response in a well defined test seat. Another aim is to see how the response varies with seat design and sled speed change during low-speed rear-end collisions. This data is intended to be used in the validation of the crash test dummy (BioRID I) in rear-end impact situations, with a focus on low delta V (velocity change) collisions. Thirteen human subjects were exposed to 28 rear-end collision sled impacts with velocity changes close to 5 and 7 krn/h respectively. The results showed vertical motion of the subjects' H-point caused by ramping up along the seat, a forward rotat ion of the subjects' femur and maybe a contraction of the subjects' gluteus muscles. A vertical motion of the subjects' torso and head was also observed. This motion was caused by a combination of ramping up along the seat back and the straightening of the thoracic kyphosis. In the first 100 ms after impact, several subjects flexed their head relative T1. These new data have proven to be useful as validation data for new rear-end impact dummies.

    • In this short essay I offer some “business researcher” advice on how to leverage a strong background in psychology when attempting to contribute to the maturing field of “entrepreneurship research”. Psychologists can benefit from within-discipline research, e.g. on emergence, small groups, fit, and expertise as well as method strengths in, e.g. experimentation, operationalisation of constructs, and multi-level modelling. However, achieving full leverage of these strengths requires a clear conceptualisation of “entrepreneurship” as well as insights into the challenges posed by the nature of this class of phenomena.

Particular topics include the delineation of the “entrepreneurship research” field and community; data and data sources; the quest for increased theoretical precision, and demands for practical relevance and real-world impact. The chapter concludes that the future of entrepreneurship research offers both challenges and opportunities, and that it will remain an exciting field for scholarly study.

  • A measure of entrepreneurial bricolage behavior
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour & Research. - : Emerald Group Publishing Limited. - 1355-2554 .- 1758-6534. ; 23:1, s. 114-135
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • PurposeThe majority of emerging and young firms work under resource constraints. This has made researchers highlight the importance of resourcefulness. Perhaps the most important theoretical development in this context is the emerging, behavioral theory of entrepreneurial bricolage. However, although academic interest is increasing, research on entrepreneurial bricolage has been hampered by the lack of robust instruments that allow large-scale theory testing. The purpose is to help fill this void. The purpose of this paper is to describe the development and contents of a novel measure of entrepreneurial bricolage behavior and assesses its validity. The measure is intended to be applicable in broadly based, quantitative studies.Design/methodology/approachThe instrument was developed as a unidimensional, reflective measure. Standard protocols for scale development were followed. The validation uses primary, longitudinal data from four samples of nascent and young firms as well as published, cross-sectional evidence from another four samples representing different contexts and variations to the data collection procedure.FindingsPromising results are reported concerning the reliability as well as the discriminant and nomological validity of the measure. Based on the pre-testing and validation experiences guidelines are also provided for attempts at further improvements.Originality/valueThis paper presents a novel measure developed by the authors, which holds promise for being a useful tool for future research on the prevalence, antecedents, and consequences of entrepreneurial bricolage. Previously, no established measure of entrepreneurial bricolage behavior existed, and the few partial measures appearing in the literature have not been comprehensively evaluated. Thus, we offer a comprehensive and elaborate presentation of a measure only briefly introduced in Davidsson (2016) and Senyard et al., (2014).

  • 2011
  • Ingår i: New Business Creation: An international Overview. - London : Springer. - 9781441975355 - 9781441975362 ; , s. 27-52
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • It is widely acknowledged that entrepreneurship is one of the most important forces shaping changes in the economic landscape (van Praag and Versloot 2007). An understanding of the process by which new economic activity and business entities emerge is therefore vital. The Comprehensive Australian Study of Entrepreneurial Emergence (CAUSEE) is a research project that aims to uncover the factors that initiate, hinder, or facilitate the process of emergence, survival, and success of new independent businesses.

  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Comprehensive Australian Study of Entrepreneurial Emergence (CAUSEE) is a research programme that aims to uncover the factors that initiate, hinder and facilitate the process of emergence of new economic activities and organizations. It is widely acknowledged that entrepreneurship is one of the most important forces shaping changes in a country’s economic landscape (Baumol 1968; Birch 1987; Acs 1999). An understanding of the process by which new economic activity and business entities emerge is vital (Gartner 1993; Sarasvathy 2001). An important development in the study of ‘nascent entrepreneurs’ and ‘firms in gestation’ was the Panel Study of Entrepreneurial Dynamics (PSED) (Gartner et al. 2004) and its extensions in Argentina, Canada, Greece, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden. Yet while PSED I is an important first step towards systematically studying new venture emergence, it represents just the beginning of a stream of nascent venture studies – most notably PSED II is currently being undertaken in the US (2005– 10) (Reynolds and Curtin 2008).

  • Continued entrepreneurship and small firm growth
  • 1989
  • Doktorsavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The label entrepreneur is often used for the founder of a firm. Do owner-managers of small firms then remain entrepreneurial? Do they actually innovate, expand, and start additional ventures? While there are clear signs that small firms are of increasing importance to the economy, several studies suggest that the willingness among small firm managers to pursue goals for growth and development is limited. At the same time, some of them certainly continue to behave entrepreneurially. This empirical study focuses on explanations of continued entrepreneurship – and its absence – in small firms. Some of the issues addressed are: Which characteristics of the manager, the firm, the industry, and the environment promote, and which restrain small firm growth? Is it possible to delineate groups of more and less entrepreneurial small firms? Does the high-tech category represent a new and more entrepreneurial type of small firm? More than 400 managers of small firms were interviewed for this dissertation. Data on structural factors were collected from external sources. While using micro-level data, the study aims at building knowledge that is useful at the macro-level.

  • COVID-19 as External Enabler of entrepreneurship practice and research
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: BRQ Business Research Quarterly. - : Sage Publications. - 2340-9436 .- 2340-9444. ; 24:3, s. 214-223
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • For decades, entrepreneurship and strategy research has been dominated by agent-centric and inward-looking theoretical perspectives. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic demonstrates the limits of this stance, as its influence on business has been both enormous and palpable. For the most part, the effects of the pandemic are no doubt negative. Business research—and presumably business practice—typically address such influence in terms of failure, resilience, and crisis management among existing businesses. Contrasting this prevalent discourse, we focus instead on positive influence of the pandemic for some emerging and new ventures. We analyze the many possible positive effects on entrepreneurship practice and highlight also positive effects on entrepreneurship research. We illustrate both positives by applying the External Enabler framework.

  • Bokkapitel (populärvet., debatt m.m.)abstract
    • Per Davidsson discusses in the following chapter how he and David met and how they became close friends and collaborators. Using the economic analogy of knowledge spillovers, Davidsson creates a narrative of how David has built friendships across the world while also becoming one of the most prolific scholars in his field. These insights show how well-respected and connected David became by way of his open and honest demeanor.
