- Brydon, Forsgren, and Fur’s Concurrent Imaginaries, Postcolonial Worlds demonstrates the value of reading for concurrences in situating discussions of archives, voices, and history in colonial and postcolonial contexts. Starting with the premise that our pluriversal world is constructed from concurrent imaginaries yet the role of concurrences has seldom been examined, the collection brings together case studies that confirm the productivity of reading, looking, and listening for concurrences across established boundaries of disciplinary or geopolitical engagement. Contributors working in art history, sociology, literary, and historical studies bring examples of Nordic colonialism together with analyses of colonial practices worldwide. The collection invites uptake of the study of concurrences within the humanities and in interdisciplinary fields such as postcolonial, cultural, and globalization studies.

- This article analyses the relationship between women, food and power in two novels by the Swedish feminist writer Elin Wägner (1882-1949): The Norrtull Gang (Norrtullsligan 1908), and Penwoman (Pennskaftet 1910). One important point of departure is Diana McGee's Writing the Meal (2001), in which she examines how various representations of food reflect the feminist ideas of women writers of the period and their criticism of the traditional roles of women in society.The analysis shows that Elin Wägner utilises the representation of food to examine and criticise the condition of women in contemporary Swedish society. The critical aspect dominates in the first novel, where food serves as a symbol for the harsh economic conditions, while the second sometimes parodies the role of the housewife and food in order to destabilise traditional gender norms.

- Research on Nordic colonialisms constitutes a growing field and has mainly been concerned with Nordic examples of oversees colonialism as well as with so-called internal colonialism, often connected with Sapmi and the Sami. This article highlights a third focus within the field of Nordic colonialism, examining Nordic participation in the wider field of European colonialism. The source material consists of five "colonization narratives" written by four authors based on their experiences of working and living in different colonial contexts in Central and East Africa. Margit Rundgren's Tvei ar pa Kongofloden [Two Years on the Congo River] (1930) describes her time in the Belgian Congo, while Hjalmar Frisell's two books, Sju ar i talt: Bland svarta och vita [Seven Years in a Tent: Among Blacks and Whites] (1937) and Leva farligt i Afrika [Dangerous Living in Africa] (1937) as well as Eric von Otter's Som officer och storviltjagare i Turkana [As an Officer and Hunter in Turkana] (1930) take place in British Kenya. Finally, Gunnar Agge's I svart tjeinst mellan vita stormakter: Tre ar som regeringslakare i Ogaden [In Black Service between White Great Powers: Three Years as Government Doctor in Ogaden] (1935) describes the author's work in Ethiopia, which became an Italian colony 1935 after having been the sole remaining independent state in the area. The analysis of these texts is focused on the following research questions: How are the different colonial systems described and how do these Swedish writers relate to them and to the African contexts they encounter? How do these texts expose ideas about cultural difference and development? The article examines and analyzes the complexity in the colonial encounters described in the works as well as the differences between them.

- "I am something in-between": Class and Colonialism in Gustaf Hellström's Bildungsroman Love and PoliticsThis article analyses Gustaf Hellström’s novel Kärlek och politik [Love and Politics], published 1942, both from a class perspective and a postcolonial one, showing how they interact with each other together with gender. Following the novel’s hero, Stellan Petreus, and his development during his stay in London 1908-11 as a foreign correspondent, the analyses shows how his identity as a Swede and as a liberal middle class man is problematized, when he is confronted with class conflicts and social injustices in England and with British colonial politics, especially towards Ireland and India. The analyses also shows that Stellan Petreus uses his writings, both as a journalist and as an author of fiction, as a way to handle the conflicts he is faced to. Another way to handle the conflicts is to define his position as a compromise between (mellanting).

- The article examines the intertextual relations between the Swedish author Sonja Åkesson's poem "Kvällspromenad" (Evening Walk), published in 1959, and the Swedish author Ragnar Thoursie's poem "Sundbybergs-prologen" (The Sundbyberg Prologue) (1952). The aim is to demonstrate how "Kvällspromenad" has a deep and polemic relation to "Sundbybergs-prologen". The comparison between the two poems is made by using Manfred Pfister's six criteria for analyzing intertextual relations: reference, communication, autoreflexion, structure, selection and dialogue.The analysis shows that Åkesson gives a completely different view of modern post-war Sweden in her poem compared to the intertext. Instead of the male worker i Thoursie's poem, Åkesson lets a lonely and alienated woman walk around in the same modern suburbs and in a society where she seems homeless. The many intertxtual relations between "Kvällspromenad" and its intertext, can be seen on a thematic as well as a metaphorical level.
