  • A complete update of ε0/ε in the standard model
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: European Physical Society Conference on High Energy Physics (EPS-HEP2019). - Trieste, Italy : Sissa Medialab. - 1824-8039. ; 364
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The recent release of improved lattice data has revived again the interest on precise theoretical calculations of the direct CP-violation ratio ε0/ε. We present a complete update of the Standard Model prediction [1,2], including a new re-analysis of isospin-breaking corrections which are of vital importance in the theoretical determination of this observable. The Standard Model prediction, Re(ε0/ε) = (14±5)·10−4, turns out to be in good agreement with the experimental measurement.

  • Isospin-breaking contributions to ϵ ′/ϵ
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: International Conference on Kaon Physics 2019 10-13 September 2019, University of Perugia, Italy. - : IOP Publishing. - 1742-6588. ; 1526
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present an updated analysis of isospin-violating corrections to ϵ0=ϵ in the framework of chiral perturbation theory, taking advantage of the currently improved knowledge on quark masses and nonperturbative parameters. The role of the different ingredients entering into the analysis is carefully assessed. Our final result is ωeff = 0:110 +0:090 -0:088 [1].

  • Isospin-violating contributions to ∈′/∈
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Journal of High Energy Physics. - 1029-8479. ; 2020:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The known isospin-breaking contributions to the K → ππ amplitudes are reanalyzed, taking into account our current understanding of the quark masses and the relevant non-perturbative inputs. We present a complete numerical reappraisal of the direct CP-violating ratio ∈′/∈, where these corrections play a quite significant role. We obtain the Standard Model prediction Re (∈′/∈) = (14 ± 5) · 10−4, which is in very good agreement with the measured ratio. The uncertainty, which has been estimated conservatively, is dominated by our current ignorance about 1/NC-suppressed contributions to some relevant chiral-perturbation-theory low-energy constants.

  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We briefly overview the historical controversy around Standard Model predictions of ϵ ′/ϵ and clarify the underlying physics. A full update of this important observable is presented, with all known short-and long-distance contributions, including isospin-breaking corrections. The current Standard Model prediction, Re(ϵ ′/ϵ) = (14 ± 5) • 10-4 [1, 2], is in excellent agreement with the experimentally measured value.

  • Visual guidance of mobile robots using a neural network
  • 1998
  • Ingår i: Mechatronics '98. - Oxford : Pergamon Press. - 0080433391 ; , s. 427-431
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper we present a self-learning method for low-level navigation for autonomous mobile robots, based on a neural network. Both corridor following and obstacle avoidance in indoor environments are successfully managed by the same network. Raw gray scale images of size 32 by 23 pixels are processed one by one by a feed forward neural network. The output signals of the network represent the appropriate steering actions of the robot.

  • Unmet Medical Needs in Ulcerative Colitis : An Expert Group Consensus
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Digestive Diseases. - : S. Karger. - 0257-2753 .- 1421-9875. ; 37:4, s. 266-283
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • BACKGROUND: The authors aimed to conduct an extensive literature review and consensus meeting to identify unmet needs in ulcerative colitis (UC) and ways to overcome them. UC is a relapsing and remitting inflammatory bowel disease with varied, and changing, incidence rates worldwide. UC has an unpredictable disease course and is associated with a high health economic burden. During 2016 and 2017, a panel of experts was convened to identify, discuss and address areas of unmet need in UC.METHODS: PubMed and Cochrane Library databases were searched for relevant articles describing studies performed in patients with UC. These findings were used to generate a set of statements relating to unmet needs in UC. Consensus on these statements was then sought from a panel of 9 expert gastroenterologists using a modified Delphi review process that consisted of anonymous surveys followed by live meetings.RESULTS: In 2 literature reviews, over 5,000 unique records were identified and a total of 138 articles were fully reviewed. These were used to consider 26 areas of unmet need, which were explored in 2 face-to-face meetings, in which the statements were debated and amended, resulting in consensus on 30 final statements. The unmet needs identified were categorised into 7 areas: impact of UC on patients' daily life; importance of early diagnosis and treatment; drawbacks of existing treatments; urgent need for new treatments; and disease-, practice- or patient-focused unmet needs.CONCLUSIONS: These expert group meetings found a number of areas of unmet needs in UC, which is an important first step in tackling them in the future. Future research and development should be focused in these areas for the management of patients with UC.

  • I-CARE, a European prospective cohort study assessing safety and effectiveness of biologics in inflammatory bowel disease
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology. - : Elsevier. - 1542-3565 .- 1542-7714. ; 21:3, s. 771-788.e10
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • BACKGROUND AND AIMS: There is a need to evaluate the benefit-risk ratio of current therapies in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients to provide the best quality of care. The primary objective of I-CARE was to assess prospectively safety concerns in IBD, with specific focus on the risk of cancer/lymphoma and serious infections in patients treated with for anti-tumor necrosis factor and other biologics monotherapy as well as in combination with immunomodulators.METHODS: I-CARE was designed as a European prospective longitudinal observational multicenter cohort study, to include patients with a diagnosis of Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or IBD unclassified established at least 3 months prior to enrollment.RESULTS: A total of 10,206 patients were enrolled between March 2016 and April 2019, including 6,169 (60.4%) patients with Crohn's disease, 3,853 (37.8%) with ulcerative colitis, and 184 (1.8%) with a diagnosis of IBD unclassified. Thirty-two percent of patients were receiving AZA/thiopurines, 4.6% 6-mercaptopurine, and 3.2% methotrexate at study entry. At inclusion, 47.3% of patients were treated with an anti-tumor necrosis factor agent, 8.8% with vedolizumab, and 3.4% with ustekinumab. Roughly one quarter of patients (26.8%) underwent prior IBD related surgery. Sixty-six % of patients had been previously treated with systemic steroids. Three percent of patients had a medical history of cancer prior to inclusion, and 1.1% had a history of colonic, esophageal or uterine cervix high-grade dysplasia.CONCLUSION: I-CARE is an ongoing investigator-initiated observational European prospective cohort study that will provide unique information on the long-term benefits and risks of biological therapies in IBD patients.
