Forskning och kunskapsuppbyggnad i samlingsförvaltning : Slutrapport FoU-projekt RAÄ2019-2157

- Projektet har syftat till att, i linje med den svenska museilagen, implementera kunskapsuppbyggnad som en del i museers samlingsförvaltning och arbete med standarden Spectrum. För att uppnå detta syfte har projektet bearbetat styrdokument, internt textmaterial och genomfört intervjuer och fokusgruppssamtal.Arbetsgruppen har haft reguljära möten där analysen utvecklats och kommande steg lagts fast. Tre digitala workshops med projektets referensgrupp har genomförts med goda resultat, som sammanställts av projektledaren. Samtliga arbetande i projektet skrev PM inför och efter workshop 1 på temat vad forskning och kunskapsuppbyggnad spelar för roll i museiverksamheter. Dessa och diskussionerna kring dem bearbetades av projektgruppen och låg till grund för frågeställningar och arbetsuppgifter för workshop 2, som hade temat ’Den perfekta policyn’.Parallellt med workshoparna genomfördes analys av Spectrum, svensk museiförvaltning, samt interna styrdokument för att finna bästa vägen att stärka forskning och kunskapsuppbyggnad i samlingsförvaltning. När dessa analyser mötte resultaten av fokusgruppssamtal med personalen inom Göteborgs museer och konsthall framstod utvecklandet av en handbok för kunskapsuppbyggnad i samlingsförvaltning på Spectrumbasis som bästa sättet att fånga och sprida våra resultat. Denna handbok testades i den tredje workshopen med referensgruppen, samt i samarbete med Vadsbo museum i Mariestad för att nå så många slags museer som möjligt. Handbok för kunskapsuppbyggande samlingsförvaltning har publicerats av Kulturförvaltningen.Projektet har även producerat en samling korta utredningar av centrala begrepp, inte minst för att förstå begreppen forskning och kunskapsuppbyggnad i ett museisammanhang. Dessa ingår här, tillsammans med en redovisning av de genomförda workshoparna och fokusgruppssamtalen, samt en analys av styrdokument. Första delen följer Riksantikvarieämbetets mall för vetenskaplig slutrapport.

- Den italienske professorn Massimo Campanini presenterar i boken al-Ghazali and the Divine hur vi, utifrån ett muslimskt perspektiv, kan och bör förstå Guds absoluta transcendens. Abu Hamid al-Ghazali var en persisk filosof, teolog, jurist, logiker och mystiker som levde och verkade i övergången till och början av 1100-talet. På senare tid har det gjorts en forskningsmässig omtolkning av al-Ghazalis liv och verk där man gått från att se honom som en förnuftskritisk mystiker till en filosofisk teolog.

- I den här rapporten presenteras modeller och argument för hur museers värde kan beläggas. För att avgränsa vilka modeller och argument som är rimliga att använda i ett svenskt museisammanhang sägs också något om vad ett museum är och vilka uppdrag svenska museer har. Eftersom frågan om finansiering är nära kopplad till värdediskussionen berörs även den. Rapporten redovisar en genomgång av den internationella litteratur som handlar om museers värde och mer specifikt om hur de olika värden som identifieras eventuellt kan beläggas.

- The purpose of this study is to analyse how the Swedish tourism industry has marketed the world outside Sweden. What images of the people who populate tourist destinations has the tourism industry used to lure customers abroad? Answers to this question are drawn from a body data comprised of prospecti and brochures put out by Swedish tourism agencies in the period between 1930 and 1990. One of the central themes of this enquiry is that the world constitutes a coherent entity. Edward Said’s insistence on the worldliness of all texts is the driving force behind this enquiry. To uncover those frames of reference (a phrase developed in relation to Said’s structures of attitude and reference) regarding the world outside Sweden that are implicit in the idea of Swedish modernity, I make use of a contrapuntal reading that highlights connections that the texts only hint at. The most important phenomena that are analysed are the use of stereotypes and the denial of coevalness. The thesis provides a comprehensive historical overview of Swedish tourism abroad, but its primary goal is to ascertain how tourism and the Swedish self-image it caters is related to the modern/colonial era’s ideologies and power structures. The Swedish self-image is juxtaposed to the Swedish attitude towards foreigners and it is made clear how Swedish modernity has been created through comparisons with people who are not regarded as modern: primitive Africans, exotic Orientals, mañana Spaniards, peasants in colourful folk-costumes and so on. Thereby it becomes clear that these portrayals of blissful vacation spots are neither objective nor harmless. On the contrary, they are pivotal to the construction of the modern Swedish self-image as well as the confinement of other people to marginal roles. The dissertation ends with an in-depth discussion on the denial of coevalness, and the connections between the denial of coevalness and the metaphysics of presence discussed by Jacques Derrida is explored. - När ekonomisk tillväxt, teknologisk utveckling och individuell tillfredsställelse riskerar ekologisk kollaps, vad kan vi då eftersträva istället? Frågan är angelägen i klimatomställningens tid, då vi inte endast behöver hitta nya sätt att resa, producera och konsumera, utan också nya sätt att handla, tänka och leva. Med utgångspunkt i Aristoteles filosofi påminner idéhistorikern Klas Grinell om det antika idealet om mänsklig blomstring, eudaimonia. Snarare än att sträva efter tillväxt som ett yttersta värde behöver politiken riktas mot att utveckla medborgarnas möjligheter att leva hållbart och gott. Istället för att försöka bemästra naturen bör människan försöka återfinna sin plats i den och söka en lycka som inte beror av förgiftning, artdöd och global uppvärmning. Eudaimonia är en läsvänlig och sakkunnig redogörelse för Aristoteles livsfilosofi, som i den antika tankevärlden finner stoff till nya etiska och politiska horisonter och mer framkomliga vägar mot mänsklig blomstring.

- Modernist theories of development and democratization predicted that secularization would lead to the disappearance of religion. This has not happened. But contemporary democratic states are secular and define religion as a private matter. At the same time, a politics of recognizing religiosity is deeply rooted in the modern state, and it is obvious that intangible values play an important role and have a valid claim to public spaces. On the metaphorical agora, the square that constitutes the middle ground between the cathedral and the parliament, commitment born in the cathedral is transformed into rational arguments that can be presented in parliament. But who governs the square? Do spiritual values need a public defence? Can or should all religious commitments and expressions be transformed into profane arguments? How could public spaces be designed and maintained to promote peaceful mediations between profane, sacred and other principled commitments? By assembling artistic and academic thinkers who do not confine themselves to intellectual analysis, but demand our involvement and our realization that we are part of the processes we are considering, this Focus contributes to a discussion of religiosity and public spaces in post-secular societies.

- This article focuses on a neglected historical example where contemporary museological framings of Islam in Europe were established—the World of Islam Festival in London, 1976. The material consulted consists of the publications and materials from the Festival Trust, media coverage and academic discussions of the Festival. These are analyzed from a frame theory perspective. The Festival is situated in a very specific historical period after the advent of Gulf oil money, but before the resurgence of Islam and the Iranian revolution. It was framed by the traditionalist perspective of Frithjof Schuon and Seyyed Hossein Nasr and in large part funded by the United Arab Emirates. It is argued that what might at first appear to be a festival celebrating the presence of Muslims in modern Britain acted to stabilize a dichotomy between Islam and modernity that is still dominant in museological framings of Islam in Europe.
