  • DSAM Lifetime Studies for Gd-Nd nuclei with EUROBALL and AFRODITE
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Frontiers in Nuclear Structure, Astrophysics, and Reactions, FINUSTAR 2007. - : AIP. - 1551-7616 .- 0094-243X. - 9780735405325 ; 1012, s. 383-385
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Lifetimes of high-spin states have been measured for 142Gd and 134Nd with EU-ROBALL IV and AFRODITE, respectively, using DSAM. From calculations in the cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky model it was concluded that at the high-spin states of the (+,0)1 band, 142Gd represents a triaxial nucleus rotating around the longest principal axis.

  • Probing the uniformity of hydrogen intercalation in quasi-free-standing epitaxial graphene on SiC by micro-Raman mapping and conductive atomic force microscopy
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Nanotechnology. - : IOP PUBLISHING LTD. - 0957-4484 .- 1361-6528. ; 30:28
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper, micro-Raman mapping and conductive atomic force microscopy (C-AFM) were jointly applied to investigate the structural and electrical homogeneity of quasi-free-standing monolayer graphene (QFMLG), obtained by high temperature decomposition of 4H-SiC(0001) followed by hydrogen intercalation at 900 degrees C. Strain and doping maps, obtained by Raman data, showed the presence of sub-micron patches with reduced hole density correlated to regions with higher compressive strain, probably associated with a locally reduced hydrogen intercalation. Nanoscale resolution electrical maps by C-AFM also revealed the presence of patches with enhanced current injection through the QFMLG/SiC interface, indicating a locally reduced Schottky barrier height (Phi(B)). The Phi(B) values evaluated from local I-V curves by the thermionic emission model were in good agreement with the values calculated for the QFMLG/SiC interface using the Schottky-Mott rule and the graphene holes density from Raman maps. The demonstrated approach revealed a useful and non-invasive method to probe the structural and electrical homogeneity of QFMLG for future nano-electronics applications.

  • High-spin states in Au-191 : Evidence for triaxial shape?
  • 2003
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C. Nuclear Physics. - 0556-2813 .- 1089-490X. ; 68:5, s. 543081-5430814
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The level scheme of Au-191 was considerably extended to high spin using gamma spectroscopy with the Eurogam-II array and internal conversion measurements with the Orsay electron spectrometer. Several bands that appear as strongly coupled were associated with low- Omega configurations in Au-191 . Using total routhian surface and cranked shell model calculations it was shown that these bands have a rotation-aligned nature and are most likely generated by the nonaxiallity of the nucleus induced by the odd proton. The predictions for the presence of such bands in Au-191 and in the oblate nuclei in the Pt-Au-Hg region found excellent agreement with the experimental data, as well as the predictions for their alignments and band-crossing frequencies in Au-191 .

  • Sets of rotation-aligned bands indicating nonaxiality in Au-190
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C. Nuclear Physics. - 0556-2813 .- 1089-490X. ; 69:4, s. 044320-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The level scheme of Au-190 was extended up to high spin using gamma spectroscopy with the Eurogam-II array and internal conversion measurements with the electron- gamma spectrometer of Orsay. Several sets of rotation-aligned bands were found and associated with high- j, low- K configurations. According to the total Routhian surface and cranked shell model calculations these bands are caused by the nonaxiality of the nuclear deformation (gammaless than or equal to-70degrees). Furthermore, very good agreement was obtained between the experimental data and the theoretical predictions for the properties of these bands, such as alignments, band-crossing frequencies, and signature inversion, thus supporting the suggested nonaxial shapes.

  • Shears band with a large dynamic moment of inertia in Bi-197
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: European Physical Journal A. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1434-6001 .- 1434-601X. ; 25:1, s. 49-55
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • High-spin states in Bi-197 were studied with the AFRODITE gamma-ray array at iThemba LABS using the Ta-181(Ne-22, 6n) reaction at a beam energy of 125 MeV. A new shears band was found and linked to the low-lying states in Bi-197. Its dynamic moment of inertia, F (2), is considerably larger than the ((2)) of the shears bands in the neighbouring Pb isotopes. This is probably a result of the involvement of an additional high-K h(9/2) proton orbital.

  • A review of mixed-effects models of tumor growth and effects of anticancer drug treatment used in population analysis
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: CPT. - : Wiley. - 2163-8306. ; 3:5, s. 1-10
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Population modeling of tumor size dynamics has recently emerged as an important tool in pharmacometric research. A series of new mixed-effects models have been reported recently, and we present herein a synthetic view of models with published mathematical equations aimed at describing the dynamics of tumor size in cancer patients following anticancer drug treatment. This selection of models will constitute the basis for the Drug Disease Model Resources (DDMoRe) repository for models on oncology.

  • Signature inversion in the yrast band of Ta-164
  • 2002
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C. Nuclear Physics. - 0556-2813 .- 1089-490X. ; 65:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Excited states in Ta-164 were populated in the Nd-142(Al-27,5n)Ta-164 reaction and investigated using the AFRODITE spectrometer Arran. The yrast rotational decay sequence Lip to spin 21(-) is identified for the first time and assigned to the pi[514]9/2(-) x nu[660]1/2(+) configuration. A less intense. excited hand is also identified. Low-spin signature inversion is observed in the yrast band, and is compared with the extended total Routhian surface calculations. It is likely that quadrupole pairing plays a role in generating the anomalous signature splitting, but an additional mechanism apart front the assumed mean field and quadrupole pairing interaction may be required to account for the experimental data.

  • Models for change in tumour size, appearance of new lesions and survival probability in patients with advanced epithelial ovarian cancer
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology. - : Wiley. - 0306-5251 .- 1365-2125. ; 82:3, s. 717-727
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • AimsThe aims of this study were (i) to develop a modelling framework linking change in tumour size during treatment to survival probability in metastatic ovarian cancer; and (ii) to model the appearance of new lesions and investigate their relationship with survival and disease characteristics. MethodsData from a randomized Phase III clinical trial comparing carboplatin monotherapy to gemcitabine plus carboplatin combotherapy in 336 patients with metastatic ovarian cancer were used. A population model describing change in tumour size based on drug treatment information was established and its relationship with time to appearance of new lesions and survival were investigated with time to event models. ResultsThe tumour size profiles were well characterized as evaluated by visual predictive checks. Metastasis in the liver at enrolment and change in tumour size up to week 12 were predictors of time to appearance of new lesions. Survival was predicted based on the patient tumour size and ECOG performance status at enrolment and on appearance of new lesions during treatment and change in tumour size up to week 12. Tumour size and survival data from a separate study were adequately predicted. ConclusionsThe proposed models simulate tumour dynamics following treatment and provide a link to the probability of developing new lesions as well as to survival. The models have potential to be used for optimizing the design of late phase clinical trials in metastatic ovarian cancer based on early phase clinical study results and simulation.
