  • Experimental access to Transition Distribution Amplitudes with the PANDA experiment at FAIR

    • Baryon-to-meson Transition Distribution Amplitudes (TDAs) encoding valuable new information on hadron structure appear as building blocks in the collinear factorized description for several types of hard exclusive reactions. In this paper, we address the possibility of accessing nucleon-to-pion (pi N) TDAs from (p) over barp -> e(+)e(-)pi(0) reaction with the future PANDA detector at the FAIR facility. At high center-of-mass energy and high invariant mass squared of the lepton pair q(2), the amplitude of the signal channel (p) over barp -> e(+)e(-)pi(0) admits a QCD factorized description in terms of pi N TDAs and nucleon Distribution Amplitudes (DAs) in the forward aid backward kinematic regimes. Assuming the validity of this factorized description, we perform feasibility studies for measuring (p) over barp -> e(+)e(-)pi(0) with the PANDA detector. Detailed simulations on signal reconstruction efficiency as well as on rejection of the most severe background channel, i.e. (p) over barp -> pi(+)pi(-)pi(0) were performed for the center-of-mass energy squared s = 5 GeV2 and s = 10 GeV2, in the kinematic regions 3.0 < q(2) < 4.3 GeV2 and 5 < q(2) < 9 GeV2, respectively, with a neutral pion scattered in the forward or backward cone vertical bar cos theta(pi 0)vertical bar > 0.5 in the proton-antiproton center-of-mass frame. Results of the simulation show that the particle identification capabilities of the PANDA detector will allow to achieve a background rejection factor of 5 . 10(7) (1 . 10(7)) at low (high) q(2) for s = 5 GeV2, and of 1 . 10(8) (6 . 10(6)) at low (high) q(2) for s = 10 GeV2, while keeping the signal reconstruction efficiency at around 40%. At both energies, a clean lepton signal can be reconstructed with the expected statistics corresponding to 2 of integrated luminosity. The cross sections obtained from the simulations are used to show that a test of QCD collinear factorization can be done at the lowest order by measuring scaling laws and angular distributions. The future measurement of the signal channel cross section with PANDA will provide a new test of the perturbative QCD description of a novel class of hard exclusive reactions and will open the possibility of experimentally accessing pi N TDAs.

  • The potential of Λ and Ξ- studies with PANDA at FAIR
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: European Physical Journal A. - : Springer Nature. - 1434-6001 .- 1434-601X. ; 57:4
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The antiproton experiment PANDA at FAIR is designed to bring hadron physics to a new level in terms of scope, precision and accuracy. In this work, its unique capability for studies of hyperons is outlined. We discuss ground-state hyperons as diagnostic tools to study non-perturbative aspects of the strong interaction, and fundamental symmetries. New simulation studies have been carried out for two benchmark hyperon-antihyperon production channels: p¯ p→ Λ¯ Λ and p¯ p→ Ξ¯ +Ξ-. The results, presented in detail in this paper, show that hyperon-antihyperon pairs from these reactions can be exclusively reconstructed with high efficiency and very low background contamination. In addition, the polarisation and spin correlations have been studied, exploiting the weak, self-analysing decay of hyperons and antihyperons. Two independent approaches to the finite efficiency have been applied and evaluated: one standard multidimensional efficiency correction approach, and one efficiency independent approach. The applicability of the latter was thoroughly evaluated for all channels, beam momenta and observables. The standard method yields good results in all cases, and shows that spin observables can be studied with high precision and accuracy already in the first phase of data taking with PANDA.

  • 2016
  • Ingår i: European Physical Journal A. - : Springer Publishing Company. - 1434-6001 .- 1434-601X. ; 52:10
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Simulation results for future measurements of electromagnetic proton form factors at P ¯ ANDA (FAIR) within the PandaRoot software framework are reported. The statistical precision with which the proton form factors can be determined is estimated. The signal channel p¯ p→ e+e- is studied on the basis of two different but consistent procedures. The suppression of the main background channel, i.e.p¯ p→ π+π-, is studied. Furthermore, the background versus signal efficiency, statistical and systematical uncertainties on the extracted proton form factors are evaluated using two different procedures. The results are consistent with those of a previous simulation study using an older, simplified framework. However, a slightly better precision is achieved in the PandaRoot study in a large range of momentum transfer, assuming the nominal beam conditions and detector performance.

  • Study of excited Ξ baryons with the P¯ ANDA detector
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: European Physical Journal A. - : Springer Nature. - 1434-6001 .- 1434-601X. ; 57:4
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The study of baryon excitation spectra provides insight into the inner structure of baryons. So far, most of the world-wide efforts have been directed towards N∗ and Δ spectroscopy. Nevertheless, the study of the double and triple strange baryon spectrum provides independent information to the N∗ and Δ spectra. The future antiproton experiment P¯ANDA will provide direct access to final states containing a Ξ¯ Ξ pair, for which production cross sections up to μb are expected in p¯p reactions. With a luminosity of L= 10 31 cm- 2 s- 1 in the first phase of the experiment, the expected cross sections correspond to a production rate of ∼106events/day. With a nearly 4 π detector acceptance, P¯ANDA will thus be a hyperon factory. In this study, reactions of the type p¯p → Ξ¯ +Ξ∗ - as well as p¯p → Ξ¯ ∗ +Ξ- with various decay modes are investigated. For the exclusive reconstruction of the signal events a full decay tree fit is used, resulting in reconstruction efficiencies between 3 and 5%. This allows high statistics data to be collected within a few weeks of data taking.

  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Physics A. - : Elsevier. - 0375-9474 .- 1873-1554. ; 954, s. 323-340

    • Bound nuclear systems with two units of strangeness are still poorly known despite their importance for many strong interaction phenomena. Stored antiprotons beams in the GeV range represent an unparalleled factory for various hyperon-antihyperon pairs. Their outstanding large production probability in antiproton collisions will open the floodgates for a series of new studies of systems which contain two or even more units of strangeness at the PANDA experiment at FAIR. For the first time, high resolution gamma-spectroscopy of doubly strange Lambda Lambda-hypernuclei will be performed, thus complementing measurements of ground state decays of Lambda Lambda-hypernuclei at J-PARC or possible decays of particle unstable hypernuclei in heavy ion reactions. High resolution spectroscopy of multistrange Xi(-) -atoms will be feasible and even the production of Omega(-) -atoms will be within reach. The latter might open the door to the vertical bar S vertical bar = 3 world in strangeness nuclear physics, by the study of the hadronic Omega(-) -nucleus interaction. For the first time it will be possible to study the behavior of Xi(+) in nuclear systems under well controlled conditions.

  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The exclusive charmonium production process in (P) over barp annihilation with an associated pi 0 meson (p) over barp -> J/psi pi(0) is studied in the framework of QCD collinear factorization. The feasibility of measuring this reaction through the J/psi -> e(+) e(-) decay channel with the AntiProton ANnihilation at DArmstadt ((P) over bar ANDA) experiment is investigated. Simulations on signal reconstruction efficiency as well as the background rejection from various sources including the (P) over barp -> pi(+)pi(-)pi(0) and (p) over barp -> J/psi pi(0)pi(0) reactions are performed with PANDAROOT, the simulation and analysis software framework of the (P) over bar ANDA experiment. It is shown that the measurement can be done at (P) over bar ANDA with significant constraining power under the assumption of an integrated luminosity attainable in four to five months of data taking at the maximum design luminosity.

    • In the first production run of the WASA experiment at COSY, the eta decay into three neutral pions was measured in proton-proton interactions at a proton beam kinetic energy of 1.4 GeV. The Dalitz plot of the three pious was Studied using 1.2 x 10(5) fully reconstructed events. and the quadratic slope parameter alpha was determined to be -0.027 +/- 0.008(stat) +/- 0.005(syst). The result is consistent with previous measurements and further corroborates the importance of pion-pion final state interactions. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

  • High intensity neutrino oscillation facilities in Europe
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Physical Review Special Topics - Accelerators and Beams. - : American Physical Society. - 1098-4402. ; 16:2, s. 021002-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The EUROnu project has studied three possible options for future, high intensity neutrino oscillation facilities in Europe. The first is a Super Beam, in which the neutrinos come from the decay of pions created by bombarding targets with a 4 MW proton beam from the CERN High Power Superconducting Proton Linac. The far detector for this facility is the 500 kt MEMPHYS water Cherenkov, located in the Frejus tunnel. The second facility is the Neutrino Factory, in which the neutrinos come from the decay of mu(+) and mu(-) beams in a storage ring. The far detector in this case is a 100 kt magnetized iron neutrino detector at a baseline of 2000 km. The third option is a Beta Beam, in which the neutrinos come from the decay of beta emitting isotopes, in particular He-6 and Ne-18, also stored in a ring. The far detector is also the MEMPHYS detector in the Frejus tunnel. EUROnu has undertaken conceptual designs of these facilities and studied the performance of the detectors. Based on this, it has determined the physics reach of each facility, in particular for the measurement of CP violation in the lepton sector, and estimated the cost of construction. These have demonstrated that the best facility to build is the Neutrino Factory. However, if a powerful proton driver is constructed for another purpose or if the MEMPHYS detector is built for astroparticle physics, the Super Beam also becomes very attractive.

  • Ubiquitous broad-line emission and the relation between ionized gas outflows and Lyman continuum escape in Green Pea galaxies
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: Astronomy and Astrophysics. - 0004-6361 .- 1432-0746. ; 682
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We report observational evidence of highly turbulent ionized gas kinematics in a sample of 20 Lyman continuum (LyC) emitters (LCEs) at low redshift (z ∼ 0.3). Detailed Gaussian modeling of optical emission line profiles in high-dispersion spectra consistently shows that both bright recombination and collisionally excited lines can be fitted as one or two narrow components with intrinsic velocity dispersion of σ ∼ 40 − 100 km s−1, in addition to a broader component with σ ∼ 100 − 300 km s−1, which contributes up to ∼40% of the total flux and is preferentially blueshifted from the systemic velocity. We interpret the narrow emission as highly ionized gas close to the young massive star clusters and the broader emission as a signpost of unresolved ionized outflows, resulting from massive stars and supernova feedback. We find a significant correlation between the width of the broad emission and the LyC escape fraction, with strong LCEs exhibiting more complex and broader line profiles than galaxies with weaker or undetected LyC emission. We provide new observational evidence supporting predictions from models and simulations; our findings suggest that gas turbulence and outflows resulting from strong radiative and mechanical feedback play a key role in clearing channels through which LyC photons escape from galaxies. We propose that the detection of blueshifted broad emission in the nebular lines of compact extreme emission-line galaxies can provide a new indirect diagnostic of Lyman photon escape, which could be useful to identify potential LyC leakers in the epoch of reionization with the JWST.

    • Context. We present 8.2m VLT spectroscopic observations of 28 H II regions in 16 emission-line galaxies and 3.6m ESO telescope spectroscopic observations of 38 H II regions in 28 emission-line galaxies. These emission-line galaxies were selected mainly from the data release 6 (DR6) of the Sloan digital sky survey (SDSS) as metal-deficient galaxy candidates. Aims. We collect photometric and high-quality spectroscopic data for a large uniform sample of star forming galaxies including new observations. Our aim is to study the luminosity-metallicity (L-Z) relation for nearby galaxies, especially at its low-metallicity end and compare it with that for higher-redshift galaxies. Methods. Physical conditions and element abundances in the new sample are derived with the T-e-method, excluding six H II regions from the VLT observations and nearly two third of the H II regions from the 3.6m observations. Element abundances for the latter galaxies were derived with the semiempirical strong-line method. Results. From our new observations we find that the oxygen abundance in 61 out of the 66 H II regions of our sample ranges from 12 + log O/H = 7.05 to 8.22. Our sample includes 27 new galaxies with 12 + log O/H < 7.6 which qualify as extremely metal-poor star-forming galaxies (XBCDs). Among them are 10 H II regions with 12 + log O/H < 7.3. The new sample is combined with a further 93 low-metallicity galaxies with accurate oxygen abundance determinations from our previous studies, yielding in total a high-quality spectroscopic data set of 154 H II regions. 9000 more galaxies with oxygen abundances, based mainly on the T-e-method, are compiled from the SDSS. Photometric data for all galaxies of our combined sample are taken from the SDSS database while distances are from the NED. Our data set spans a range of 8 mag with respect to its absolute magnitude in SDSS g (-12 greater than or similar to M-g greater than or similar to -20) and nearly 2 dex in its oxygen abundance (7.0 less than or similar to 12 + log O/H less than or similar to 8.8), allowing us to probe the L-Z relation in the nearby universe down to the lowest currently studied metallicity level. The L-Z relation established on the basis of the present sample is consistent with previous ones obtained for emission-line galaxies.

    • Context. We present deep spectroscopy of a large sample of low-metallicity emission-line galaxies. Aims. The main goal of this study is to derive element abundances in these low-metallicity galaxies. Methods. We analyze 121 VLT spectra of H II regions in 46 low-metallicity emission-line galaxies. Of these spectra 83 are archival VLT/FORS1 + UVES spectra of H II regions in 31 low-metallicity emission-line galaxies that are studied for the first time with standard direct methods to determine the electron temperatures, the electron number densities, and the chemical abundances. Results. The oxygen abundance of the sample lies in the range 12 + log O/H = 7.2-8.4. We confirm previous findings that Ne/O increases with increasing oxygen abundance, likely because of a higher depletion of oxygen in higher-metallicity galaxies. The Fe/O ratio decreases from roughly solar at the lowest metallicities to about one tenth of solar, indicating that the degree of depletion of iron into dust grains depends on metallicity. The N/O ratio in extremely low-metallicity galaxies with 12 + log O/H < 7.5 shows a slight increase with decreasing oxygen abundance, which could be the signature of enhanced production of primary nitrogen by rapidly rotating stars at low metallicity. We present the first empirical relation between the electron temperature derived from [S III]lambda 6312/lambda 9069 or [N II]lambda 5755/lambda 6583 and the one derived from [O III]lambda 4363/lambda(4959 + 5007) in low-metallicity galaxies. We also present an empirical relation between t(e) derived from [O II]lambda 3727/(lambda 7320 + lambda 7330) or [S II]lambda 4068/(lambda 6717 + lambda 6730) and [O III]lambda 4363/lambda(4959 + 5007). The electron number densities N(e)(Cl III) and N(e)(Ar IV) were derived in a number of objects and are found to be higher than N(e)(O II) and N(e)(S II). This has potential implications for the derivation of the pregalactic helium abundance. In a number of objects, the abundances of C(++) and O(++) could be derived from recombination lines. Our study confirms the discrepancy between abundances found from recombination lines (RLs) and collisionally excited lines (CELs) and that C/O increases with O/H.

  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Astronomy and Astrophysics. - : EDP Sciences. - 0004-6361 .- 1432-0746. ; 503:1, s. 61-72
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Context. We present deep archival VLT/FORS1+UVES spectroscopic observations of the system of two blue compact dwarf (BCD) galaxies SBS 0335-052E and SBS 0335-052W. Aims. Our aim is to derive element abundances in different H II regions of this unique system of galaxies and to study spatial abundance variations. Methods. The electron temperature T-e (O III) in all H II regions, except for one, is derived from the [O III] lambda 4363/(lambda 4959+lambda 5007) flux ratio. We determine ionic abundances of helium, nitrogen, oxygen, neon, sulfur, chlorine, argon and iron. The empirical relations for ionization correction factors are used to derive total abundances of these elements. Results. The oxygen abundance in the brighter eastern galaxy varies in the range 7.11 to 7.32 in different H II regions supporting previous findings and suggesting the presence of oxygen abundance variations on spatial scales of similar to 1-2 kpc. Good seeing during FORS observations allowed us to extract spectra of four H II regions in SBS 0335-052W. The oxygen abundance in the brightest region No. 1 of SBS 0335-052W is 7.22 +/- 0.07, consistent with previous determinations. Three other H II regions are much more metal-poor with an unprecedently low oxygen abundance of 12 + log O/H = 7.01 +/- 0.07 (region No. 2), 6.98 +/- 0.06 (region No. 3), and 6.86 +/- 0.14 (region No. 4). These are the lowest oxygen abundances ever derived in emission-line galaxies, supporting earlier conclusions that SBS 0335-052W is the lowest-metallicity emission-line galaxy known. Helium abundances derived for the brightest H II regions of both galaxies are mutually consistent. We derive weighted mean He mass fractions of 0.2485 +/- 0.0012 and 0.2514 +/- 0.0012 for two different sets of He I emissivities. The ratios of neon and sulfur to oxygen abundance are similar to the respective ratios obtained for other emission-line galaxies. On the other hand, the chlorine-to-oxygen abundance ratio in SBS 0335-052E is lower, while the argon-to-oxygen abundance ratio is higher than those in other low-metallicity galaxies. The Fe/O abundance ratios in different regions of SBS 0335-052E are among the highest for emission-line galaxies implying that iron is almost entirely not depleted onto dust grains despite dust being detected in this galaxy in earlier ISO and Spitzer observations. The N/O abundance ratio in both galaxies is slightly higher than that derived for other BCDs with 12 + logO/H < 7.6. This implies that the N/O in extremely metal-deficient galaxies could increase with decreasing metallicity.

  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Astronomy and Astrophysics. - : EDP Sciences. - 0004-6361 .- 1432-0746. ; 517, s. A90-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Context. Active galactic nuclei (AGNs) have typically been discovered in massive galaxies of high metallicity. Aims. We attempt to increase the number of AGN candidates in low metallicity galaxies. We present VLT/UVES and archival VLT/FORS1 spectroscopic and NTT/SUSI2 photometric observations of the low-metallicity emission-line galaxy Tol 2240-384 and perform a detailed study of its morphology, chemical composition, and emission-line profiles. Methods. The profiles of emission lines in the UVES and FORS1 spectra are decomposed into several components with different kinematical properties by performing multicomponent fitting with Gaussians. We determine abundances of nitrogen, oxygen, neon, sulfur, chlorine, argon, and iron by analyzing the fluxes of narrow components of the emission lines using empirical methods. We verify with a photoionisation model that the physics of the narrow-line component gas is similar to that in common metal-poor galaxies. Results. Image deconvolution reveals two high-surface brightness regions in Tol 2240-384 separated by 2.4 kpc. The brightest southwestern region is surrounded by intense ionised gas emission that strongly affects the observed B - R colour on a spatial scale of similar to 5 kpc. The profiles of the strong emission lines in the UVES spectrum are asymmetric and all these lines apart from H alpha and H beta can be fitted by two Gaussians of FWHM similar to 75-92 km s(-1) separated by similar to 80 km s(-1) implying that there are two regions of ionised gas emitting narrow lines. The oxygen abundances in both regions are equal within the errors and in the range 12 + log O/H = 7.83-7.89. The shapes of the H alpha and H beta lines are more complex. In particular, the H alpha emission line consists of two broad components of FWHM similar to 700 km s(-1) and 2300 km s(-1), in addition to narrow components of two regions revealed from profiles of other lines. This broad emission in H alpha and H beta associated with the high-excitation, brighter southwestern H II region of the galaxy is also present in the archival low-and medium-resolution VLT/FORS1 spectra. The extraordinarily high luminosity of the broad H alpha line of 3x10(41) erg s(-1) cannot be accounted for by massive stars at different stages of their evolution. The broad Ha emission persists over a period of 7 years, which excludes supernovae as a powering mechanism of this emission. This emission most likely arises from an accretion disc around a black hole of mass similar to 10(7) M-circle dot.

  • Extreme N-emitters at high redshift : Possible signatures of supermassive stars and globular cluster or black hole formation in action
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: Astronomy and Astrophysics. - 0004-6361 .- 1432-0746. ; 681
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Context. Recent James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) spectroscopic observations of the z = 10.6 galaxy GN-z11 have revealed a very peculiar UV spectrum exhibiting intense emission lines of nitrogen, which are not typically detected in galaxy spectra. This observation indicates a super-solar N/O abundance ratio at low metallicity, which only resembles the abundances seen in globular cluster (GC) stars. This discovery suggests that we might be seeing proto-GCs in formation or possibly even signatures of supermassive stars.Aims. To examine whether other objects with strong N IV and/or N III emission lines (N-emitters, hereafter) exist and to better understand their origin and nature, we have examined the available JWST spectra and data from the literature.Methods. Using the NIRSpec/JWST observations from CEERS, we found an extreme N-emitter, CEERS-1019 at z = 8.6782, showing intense N IV] λ1486 and N III] λ1750 emission. From the observed rest-UV and optical lines, we conclude that it is compatible with photoionization from stars and we have determined accurate abundances for C, N, O, and Ne, relative to H. We also (re-)analyzed other N-emitters from the literature, including three lensed objects at z = 2.3 − 3.5 (Sunburst cluster, SMACS2031, and Lynx arc) and a low-redshift compact galaxy, Mrk 996. We carried out a comparison among the observed abundance ratios to observations from normal star-forming galaxies, predicted wind yields from massive stars, and predictions from supermassive stars (SMS with ∼104 − 105M⊙).Results. For CEERS-1019, we find a highly supersolar ratio log(N/O)= − 0.18 ± 0.11, and abundances of log(C/O)= − 0.75 ± 0.11 and log(Ne/O)= − 0.63 ± 0.07, which are normal compared to other galaxies at the low metallicity (12 + log(O/H) = 7.70 ± 0.18) of this galaxy. The three lensed N-emitters also show strongly enhanced N/O ratios and two of them normal C/O. The high N/O abundances can be reproduced by massive star winds assuming a special timing and essentially no dilution with the ambient interstellar medium (ISM). Alternatively, these N/O ratios can be explained by mixing the ejecta of SMS with comparable amounts of unenriched ISM. Massive star ejecta (from WR stars) are needed to explain the galaxies with enhanced C/O (Lynx arc, Mrk 996). On the other hand, a SMS in the “conveyer-belt model” (put forward to explain globular clusters) would predict a high N/O and small changes in C/O, compatible with CEERS-1019, the Sunburst cluster, SMACS2031, and GN-z11. Based on the chemical abundances, possible enrichment scenarios, and other properties (e.g., their compactness and high ISM density), we discuss which objects could contain proto-GCs. We suggest that this is the case for CEERS-1019, SMACS2031, and the Sunburst cluster. Enrichment in the Lynx arc and Mrk 996 is likely due to normal massive stars (WR), which implies that the star-forming regions in these objects cannot become GCs. Finally, we propose that some N-emitters enriched by SMS could also have formed intermediate mass black holes and we suggest that this might be the case for GN-z11.Conclusions. Our observations and analysis reinforce the suggested link between some N-emitters and proto-GC formation, which is supported both by empirical evidence and quantitative models. Furthermore, the observations provide possible evidence for the presence of supermassive stars in the early Universe (z >  8) and at z ∼ 2 − 3. Our analysis also suggests that the origin and nature of the N-emitters is diverse, including objects such as GN-z11, which may possibly host an active galactic nucleus (AGN).

    • The properties that govern the production and escape of hydrogen-ionizing photons (Lyman continuum, LyC; with energies > 13.6 eV) in star-forming galaxies are still poorly understood, but they are key to identifying and characterizing the sources that reionized the Universe. Here we empirically explore the relation between the hardness of ionizing radiation and the LyC leakage in a large sample of low-z star-forming galaxies from the recent Hubble Space Telescope Low-z Lyman Continuum Survey. Using Sloan Digital Sky Survey stacks and deep X-shooter observations, we investigate the hardness of the ionizing spectra (QHe+/QH) between 54.4 eV (He+) and 13.6 eV (H) from the optical recombination lines He II 4686 Å and Hβ 4861 Å for galaxies with LyC escape fractions spanning a wide range, fesc(LyC) ≃ 0−90%. We find that the observed intensity of He II/Hβ is primarily driven by variations in the metallicity, but is not correlated with LyC leakage. Both very strong (esc(LyC)> ≃ 0.5) and nonleakers (esc(LyC)> ≃ 0) present similar observed intensities of He II and Hβ at comparable metallicity, between ≃0.01 and ≃0.02 for 12 + log(O/H)> 8.0 and < 8.0, respectively. Our results demonstrate that QHe+/QH does not correlate with fesc(LyC), which implies that strong LyC emitters do not show harder ionizing spectra than nonleakers at similar metallicity.
