  • Computation of Entropy Measures for Metal-Organic Frameworks
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Molecules. - : Mdpi. - 1431-5157 .- 1420-3049. ; 28:12
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Entropy is a thermodynamic function used in chemistry to determine the disorder and irregularities of molecules in a specific system or process. It does this by calculating the possible configurations for each molecule. It is applicable to numerous issues in biology, inorganic and organic chemistry, and other relevant fields. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a family of molecules that have piqued the curiosity of scientists in recent years. They are extensively researched due to their prospective applications and the increasing amount of information about them. Scientists are constantly discovering novel MOFs, which results in an increasing number of representations every year. Furthermore, new applications for MOFs continue to arise, illustrating the materials' adaptability. This article investigates the characterisation of the metal-organic framework of iron(III) tetra-p-tolyl porphyrin (FeTPyP) and CoBHT (CO) lattice. By constructing these structures with degree-based indices such as the K-Banhatti, redefined Zagreb, and the atom-bond sum connectivity indices, we also employ the information function to compute entropies.

  • A Novel Single-Fed Dual-Band Dual-Circularly Polarized Dielectric Resonator Antenna for 5G Sub-6GHz Applications
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Applied Sciences. - : MDPI AG. - 2076-3417. ; 12:10
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this research article, a single-fed dual-band circular polarized (CP) dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) for dual-function communication, such as GPS and WLAN, was made. Initially, the proposed design process was initiated by designing a linearly polarized singly fed-DRA. To attain CP fields, the cross-shape conformal metal strip was optimized to excite the fundamental and the high-order mode in the two frequency bands. The metallic strip (parasitic) was utilized on top of the rectangular DRA to improve and widen the impedance and axial ratio (AR) bandwidth. This step led to a 2.73% improvement on the lower band and an impact of 6.5% on the upper band while on the other side a significant improvement was witnessed in the AR bandwidth in both frequency bands. A prototype was designed and fabricated in order to validate its operations. The measurement outcomes of the proposed antennas authenticated wideband impedance bandwidths of 6.4% and 25.26%, and 3-dB axial ratios (AR) of 21.26% and 27.82% respectively. The prototype is a decent candidate for a global positioning system (GPS) and wireless local area network (WLAN).

  • Mononuclear copper(i) complexes of triphenylphosphine and N,N′-disubstituted thioureas as potential DNA binding chemotherapeutics
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: New Journal of Chemistry. - : Royal Society of Chemistry. - 1144-0546 .- 1369-9261. ; 45:20, s. 8925-8935
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this work, nine new mixed-ligand complexes with the general formula [CuBr(TPP)2Tu1–9] were synthesized. The copper(I) complexes of triphenylphosphine (TPP) and different N,N′-disubstituted thioureas (Tu) were characterized via spectroscopic techniques including Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H, 13C, and 31P NMR), and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SC-XRD). The complexes were synthesized via the direct reaction of bromo(tris(triphenylphosphine)copper(I)) [BrCu(PPh3)3] precursor and thiourea ligand solution under ambient conditions. Complexes 1, 2 and 3 crystallized in a triclinic system with the P  space group. Each complex is mononuclear, and the copper atom is tetrahedrally attached to two TPP groups through the phosphorous atom, one thiourea molecule through the sulfur atom and one bromine atom. The synthesized compounds were docked with a DNA macromolecule to predict their binding site and it was found that all molecules showed favorable binding to the DNA minor grooves. The DNA interaction studies of the representative complexes demonstrated their efficient DNA binding affinities. Based on the docking and DNA interaction results, complex 7 was found to be the best binder with a docking affinity of 382.2 kJ mol−1 and binding constant of 3.96 × 104 M−1. This compound tends to interact with the minor groove through the bromine atom positioning the side triphenylphosphine rings along the X-axis of the groove while keeping the 1-(2-chlorobenzyl)-3-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)thiourea ring on the outside.

  • Triangular loop resonator based compact chipless RFID tag
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: IEICE Electronics Express. - : IEICE-INST ELECTRONICS INFORMATION COMMUNICATIONS ENG. - 1349-2543. ; 14:4
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A novel, frequency selective surface (FSS) inspired, fully passive, chipless data encoding circuit capable of being operated as a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag is presented. The tag is composed of finite repetitions of the unit cell realized on a grounded FR4 substrate having an overall size of 27.5 x 30mm(2). The unit cell is made up of several triangle-shaped resonators patterned in a looped fashion. Variation in the geometric structure of the tag, achieved by addition or removal of nested loops, corresponds to a specific bit sequence. Each sequence is represented in the spectral domain as a unique frequency signature of the resonators. The proposed 10-bit tag covers the spectral range from 4 to 11 GHz. The tag is compact, robust, and exhibits a stable response to impinging signals at different angles of incidence.

  • Keywords-based test categorization for Extra-Functional Properties
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: 2020 IEEE International Conference on Software Testing, Verification and Validation Workshops (ICSTW). - : IEEE. - 9781728110752 ; , s. 153-156
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Categorizing existing test specifications can provide insights on coverage of the test suite to extra-functional properties. Manual approaches for test categorization can be time-consuming and prone to error. In this short paper, we propose a semi-automated approach for semantic keywords-based textual test categorization for extra-functional properties. The approach is the first step towards coverage-based test case selection based on extra-functional properties. We report a preliminary evaluation of industrial data for test categorization for safety aspects. Results show that keyword-based approaches can be used to categorize tests for extra-functional properties and can be improved by considering contextual information of keywords.

  • Technical Design Report for the Upgrade of the ALICE Inner Tracking System
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physics G: Nuclear and Particle Physics. - : IOP Publishing. - 0954-3899 .- 1361-6471. ; 41:8
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • LICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment) is studying the physics of strongly interacting matter, and in particular the properties of the Quark–Gluon Plasma (QGP), using proton–proton, proton–nucleus and nucleus–nucleus collisions at the CERN LHC (Large Hadron Collider). The ALICE Collaboration is preparing a major upgrade of the experimental apparatus, planned for installation in the second long LHC shutdown in the years 2018–2019. A key element of the ALICE upgrade is the construction of a new, ultra-light, high-resolution Inner Tracking System (ITS) based on monolithic CMOS pixel detectors. The primary focus of the ITS upgrade is on improving the performance for detection of heavy-flavour hadrons, and of thermal photons and low-mass di-electrons emitted by the QGP. With respect to the current detector, the new Inner Tracking System will significantly enhance the determination of the distance of closest approach to the primary vertex, the tracking efficiency at low transverse momenta, and the read-out rate capabilities. This will be obtained by seven concentric detector layers based on a 50 μm thick CMOS pixel sensor with a pixel pitch of about 30×30 μm2. This document, submitted to the LHCC (LHC experiments Committee) in September 2013, presents the design goals, a summary of the R&D activities, with focus on the technical implementation of the main detector components, and the projected detector and physics performance.

  • Diagnostic and prognostic factors in patients with prostate cancer : a systematic review
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: BMJ Open. - : BMJ. - 2044-6055. ; 12:4
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objectives As part of the PIONEER Consortium objectives, we have explored which diagnostic and prognostic factors (DPFs) are available in relation to our previously defined clinician and patient-reported outcomes for prostate cancer (PCa). Design We performed a systematic review to identify validated and non-validated studies. Data sources MEDLINE, Embase and the Cochrane Library were searched on 21 January 2020. Eligibility criteria Only quantitative studies were included. Single studies with fewer than 50 participants, published before 2014 and looking at outcomes which are not prioritised in the PIONEER core outcome set were excluded. Data extraction and synthesis After initial screening, we extracted data following the Checklist for Critical Appraisal and Data Extraction for Systematic Reviews of prognostic factor studies (CHARMS-PF) criteria and discussed the identified factors with a multidisciplinary expert group. The quality of the included papers was scored for applicability and risk of bias using validated tools such as PROBAST, Quality in Prognostic Studies and Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies 2. Results The search identified 6604 studies, from which 489 DPFs were included. Sixty-four of those were internally or externally validated. However, only three studies on diagnostic and seven studies on prognostic factors had a low risk of bias and a low risk concerning applicability. Conclusion Most of the DPFs identified require additional evaluation and validation in properly designed studies before they can be recommended for use in clinical practice. The PIONEER online search tool for DPFs for PCa will enable researchers to understand the quality of the current research and help them design future studies. Ethics and dissemination There are no ethical implications.

  • Revealing the concentration of hydrogen peroxide in fuel cell catalyst layers by an in-operando approach
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Chinese Journal of Catalysis. - 1872-2067. ; 43:7, s. 1918-1926
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • To evaluate the H2O2-tolerance of non-Pt oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) catalysts as well as investigate the H2O2-induced decay mechanism, the selection of an appropriate H2O2 concentration is a prerequisite. However, the concentration criterion is still unclear because of the lack of in-operando methods to determine the actual concentration of H2O2 in fuel cell catalyst layers. In this work, an electrochemical probe method was successfully established to in-operando monitor the H2O2 in non-Pt catalyst layers for the first time. The local concentration of H2O2 was revealed to reach 17 mmol/L, which is one order of magnitude higher than that under aqueous electrodes test conditions. Powered by the new knowledge, a concentration criterion of at least 17 mmol/L is suggested. This work fills in the large gap between aqueous electrode tests and the real fuel cell working conditions, and highlights the importance of in-operando monitoring methods.

  • The semiconductor SrFe0.2Ti0.8O3-delta-ZnO heterostructure electrolyte fuel cells
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: International journal of hydrogen energy. - : Elsevier. - 0360-3199 .- 1879-3487. ; 44:57, s. 30319-30327
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Highly ion-conducting properties in heterostructure composites and semiconductors have drawn significant attention in recent years for developing new electrolytes in low temperature solid oxide fuel cells (LT-SOFCs). In this work, a new semiconductor heterostructure composite SrFe0.2Ti0.8O3-delta, (SFT)-ZnO consisting of p-type SFT and n-type ZnO is proposed and evaluated as an electrolyte in LT-SOFCs. Electrochemical studies reveal that the prepared SFT-ZnO is a mixed ion-electron conductor possessing a high ionic conductivity of 0.21 S cm(-1) at 520 degrees C and the assembled SFT-ZnO fuel cell can achieve a favorable peak power output of 650 mW cm(-2) along with high open-circuit voltage (OCV) of 1.06 V at 520 degrees C. By referring the semiconductor conduction types and energy band parameters of SFT and ZnO, a p-n bulk-heterojunction effect is proposed to describe the electronic blocking and ionic promotion processes of SFT-ZnO electrolyte in a fuel cell. Our work suggests a new insight into the design of effective LT-SOFC electrolytes by using semiconductor heterostructure material.

  • Selective and Sensitive Nitrite Sensor Based on Glassy Carbon Electrode Modified by Silver Nanochains
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Electroanalysis. - : WILEY-V C H VERLAG GMBH. - 1040-0397 .- 1521-4109. ; 29:2, s. 415-422
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Herein, we report a facile method for the synthesis of silver nanochains (Ag nanochains) using pyridine as growth directing agent and citrate ions as capping agents in alkaline medium. The characterization of the synthesized high aspect ratio Ag nanochains was accomplished with the help of Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM) which demonstrates the thickness below 100nm. Crystalline nature of the synthesized Ag nanochains was investigated using X-ray diffractrometry. A sensitive electrochemical nitrite sensor was assembled using synthesized Ag nanochains as electrode modifier. An improved cyclic voltammetric response for the oxidation of nitrite ions was witnessed at the modified GCE surface in comparison to bare GCE in Britton Robinson (BR) buffer (pH4). The influence of pH on the oxidation peak current of nitrite ions was also examined using cyclic voltammetry. The electrocatalytic oxidation currents attained through amperometric measurements at Ag nanochains modified GCE were linearly dependent on the concentration of nitrite ions in the two ranges of 0.5-7.5 mu M, 5-480 mu M. Linear calibration plots of Ip vs. concentration of nitrite were also constructed at the proposed sensor using square wave voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry. The proposed sensing strategy was successfully employed for the determination of nitrite in water samples with excellent recoveries.

  • Evaluation of rare earth (Yb, La) doped (Sm3Fe5O12) garnet ferrite membrane for LT-SOFC
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: International journal of hydrogen energy. - : Elsevier Ltd. - 0360-3199 .- 1879-3487.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Rare earth element doping is a popular methodology for improving the electrical and electrochemical properties of materials. Inspired by this ideology, garnet ferrite material Sm3Fe5O12 (SFO) doped by rare earth (Yb, La) metal ions to form Sm3-0.5Yb0.5Fe5O12 (SYFO) and Sm3-0.5La0·5Fe5O12 (SLFO). The samples are synthesized by sol gel auto combustion and have been applied as electrolyte membrane for the first time in low temperature solid oxide fuel cell (LT-SOFC). The results indicate that the as-prepared materials have triple charge transport (H+/O−2/e−) carrier which promotes the hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR) and oxygen reduction reactions (ORR) in SOFC at triple phase boundary region (TPB). Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) reveals that the polarization resistance of SLFO membrane significantly reduces from 0.92 Ω-cm2 to 0.45 Ω-cm2 and the power output improve from 310 mW/cm2 to 650 mW/cm2 at 550 °C temperature in comparison with that of SYFO and SFO electrolyte supported cells. UV-vis diffused spectroscopy explains the semiconducting nature of the prepared materials due to the existence of optical bandgap in the semiconductor region. The further investigation also verifies the protonic conduction of SLFO membrane by constructing oxygen ion blocking fuel cell with configuration of Ni-NCAL/BZCY/SLFO/BZCY/Ni-NCAL having 427.94 mW/Cm2 fuel cell performance with 1.03 OCV at 550 °C temperature.
