- This chapter takes an interest in the world of platforms for creative and cultural work. Platforms for creative and cultural work started to become popular in the late 20th century, and their popularity has grown rapidly over the years. Taking its point of departure from these platforms, this chapter aims to shed light upon and discuss the work of the professionals who handle and manage these platforms. Through narratives of and about the work of these platform professionals, the chapter illustrates how creativity and creative work are encouraged and facilitated. The main contribution of the chapter is the identification and discussion of two core practices in platform professionals’ narratives of how they enable creativity and cultural work. We reflect upon how creativity is conceived of as a project requiring different kinds of administrative and material support, which the managers of these creative clusters, incubators, and makerspaces provide. Furthermore, we introduce the idea that platform professionals can be perceived as a contemporary guild whose actions, and use of language and terms illustrate the creative imperative of our time.

Interdisciplinarity and Lifelong Learning in Doctoral Education for Sustainable Development: A Case Study on the Agenda 2030 Graduate School at Lund University

- The 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a framework for “peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future” (UN, 2015). Fast-moving societal questions as the ones related to the SDGs are often addressed from within traditional disciplinary research paradigms, which might not be best equipped for tackling the emerging challenges. At Lund University, an interdisciplinary Graduate School is working to address the growing societal challenges, utilizing the SDGs framework. We here investigate how the SDG framework influences the choice of research topics and supervisors in doctoral education, both in the beginning of doctoral studies and over time. We use semi-structured interviews with three doctoral students and with the Graduate School’s coordinator. We conclude that while the SDGs provide a shared language and framework for discussions, the research is mostly disciplinary. The Graduate School, however, provides opportunities for doctoral students and their supervisors to connect beyond their discipline and be exposed to new ideas and inspiration. Utilizing these opportunities shall turn the Graduate School into a lifelong-learning hub, thus increasing awareness of changes in areas such as technology, finance, and politics.

Bedömningarna baseras på det forskningssamarbete och den rådgivning som sker inom det Internationella Havsforskningsrådet (ICES).De bestånd som förvaltas nationellt baseras på de biologiska underlagen, och rådgivningen i huvudsak på den forskning och övervakning samt analys som bedrivs av Institutionen för akvatiska resurser vid Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet (SLU Aqua) samt yrkesfiskets rapportering.Rapporten omfattar 41 fiskarter uppdelade i olika bestånd, samt sju skal- och blötdjursarter.Nytt för årets upplaga är kapitlet om ekosystemtjänster. Avsnittet beskriver de fördelar människan får genom ekosystemen, till exempel hur fisk och skaldjur kommer till nytta för människan genom föda, rekreation och biologisk mångfald. - The public management of urban space is an everyday practice that requires development. But how is creative work done in a public context? The idea of offering outdoor offices and outdoor conferences is being implemented in an open-air museum, owned by a middle-sized city in Sweden. This chapter focuses on their ambitions to be innovative, and the practices officials engage in, to innovate. The ethnographic material comprises interviews texts and observations. The study draws on theory on social innovation practice and on sociologist Hartmut Rosa’s concept resonance, forming an analysis of a municipality’s innovation practices as responses to change. The study finds that innovation work is presented as a more efficient use of existing resources, while it promises improved work health for the public. One conclusion is that innovation work requires communicating a culture of courage. The explored case shows the different ways in which outdoor offices and conferences are expected to create efficiency and health experiences as new potential values, proposed for citizens and visitors in the innovation practices. Doing social innovation, based on the case of outdoor offices and conferences and the concept of resonance, constitutes a response to new societal norms, such as the free choice of office workplace and place independence.

- This is a dissertation about life style boutiques and the shopkeepers who operate them. Lifestyle boutiques are shops where a variety of goods and services is offered and staged as an overall concept, often targeted to specific groups and tastes with atmosphere-creating aesthetics. Aiming to understand how lifestyle is made into retail enterprising, this narrative ethnography describes and analyses stories about and from lifestyle boutiques. Taking point of departure in Pierre Bourdieu's field theory I depict lifestyle boutiques as an area within the field of retail where customers, influencers, media, retailers and suppliers gather around and negotiate specific conceptions and practices. The idea of the shopkeeper as part of a larger context where the forms and ideals for her occupation is negotiated works as an entry point to see and understand the order that organizes the lifestyle boutiques and the collective and symbolic structures where they are embedded.By putting the lifestyle boutique and the shopkeepers' work in a social and cultural context my objective is to shed light on and problematize lifestyle boutiques as a contemporary phenomenon and make a contribution to the theory development of the growing field of aesthetic labour and aesthetic work. This field proceeds from the notion that aesthetics is a lifestyle marker that gives status and competitive advantages to companies and organizations. The narratives from and about lifestyle boutiques point to several knowledge gaps in relation to how aesthetic work is usually understood and discussed. The staging practices that I identify and discuss open for a wider understanding of aesthetic work where practices that entail handling and staging of things, both physically and how they are depicted, could also be included. This means an understanding of aesthetic work beyond physical expressions and audiences, where aesthetic work is understood as material and narrative staging practices where things are arranged and prepared to correspond to a certain aesthetic or desired expression. This way of understanding and using aesthetic work adds more dimensions to the term that hitherto mostly has been limited to embodied gendered and class-coded abilities.

- Universal Design (UD) is a design approach that recognises and anticipates diversity as a fundamental human condition. UD is also frequently referred to in relation to the social dimension of sustainable development. Central to both UD and sustainability is the way “everyone,” as the target of UD and sustainability goals, is understood. The purpose of the study is to identify how UD’s “everyone” is conceptualised in Swedish UD policy and to provide a set of recommendations for how to categorise people with regards to UD. A qualitative text analysis is used, which investigates semiotic modes in relation to the content, form, and social relations of texts. Based on the analysis, two challenges for UD policy are identified: (i) how to convey that UD is design for everyone, and (ii) how to move away from a thought pattern of norm and deviation. Seven recommendations for how to approach categorisations of people in UD policy are formulated. We argue that an adoption of UD has the potential to bring about sustainable living environments for all, if integrated with social, economic, environmental, and spatial dimensions of development, but that in order for this to succeed, careful attention needs to be paid to how UD is conceptualised, and a radically different way of categorising people is necessary.

- The architectural community needs to be better at managing a diversity of experiences, desires and needs associated with architecture. How can students' call for a more problematizing and inclusive education and industry be used as a basis for student and teacher collaboration, as well as an educational platform for raising diversity issues? The Symposium Expanding Architecture - Critical Perspectives Acting from Within, held at the School of Architecture, LTH in the spring of 2018, was the answer to a shortage within the education as identified by the students. The event served as an opportunity for criticism of architectural education and profession, as well as a visualization of these issues for students. It thus became an example of how teaching can address a question based on a specific position and contextualize this issue in relation to contemporary research and teaching.

- Crime fiction has become one of Sweden's biggest cultural exports. In this chapter, we discuss how individual crime fiction writers are used as role models for how creative industries should function in both local and global contexts. They appear to be at the forefront of outreach to an international audience, how to market books and your own author brand through events, and how to make a successful living from your writing. There is a higher demand for personal exposure of writers in the public sphere that can almost overshadow the interest shown in their work. The aim of this chapter is to understand the conditions and limitations that crime fiction writers face in the contemporary Swedish crime book market. We will do this by focusing on some writers’ experiences of working in the business of crime writing. The connections and/or tensions between building a professional identity as a crime writer and the writer's personal lifestyle are in focus. In this context, we address the issue of social marketing through digital media, and we have chosen to look more closely into some individual writers and their personal experiences.

This paper takes its point of departure in an ongoing research project on the work of professionals at platforms for creative and cultural work in Scania, Sweden. Through narratives of and about the professionals at the different platforms the paper illustrates how creativity and creative work are encouraged and facilitated. The main contribution of the paper is the mapping of two practices for enabling creativity. Further, we reflect on how the platform professionals can be perceived as a new contemporary ‘guild’, whose actions, language use and terms illustrate the creative imperative of the cultural economy.

- To plan, design and build with diversity in mind is a complex process. While goals such as inclusion, participation and social sustainability may be present in the vision for a future product, service or environment, studies show that the initial vision isn’t always realized in the end result. There are still far too many products, services and environments that are hard to access or use for parts of the population. In this text we focus on comparatively simple, lightweight, tools – “low hanging fruits”. Such tools are already available, there are personas, context cards, but also checklists and guidelines. Inspired by the existing work, we have developed one deck of cards, intended to serve as thought support by visualizing population diversity. In order to obtain a similar effect in digital environments (egin digital twins and other 3D environments used in planning and development) we have also developed 3D models (vehicles, devices and humans) that can be put in the digital environment, and serve as a reminder to the users of the digital environment of population diversity.

- Ensuring the conditions for an inclusive society in the face of humandiversity places various demands on the built environment. Planning isessential for accommodating a wide range of individual preferences andabilities.This article examines the presence and absence of Universal Design (UD)in contemporary urban planning and construction in eight new or remodelledSwedish building and public space projects. The projects werestudied in-situ and via documentation from the planning and buildingprocess.The findings show two ways in which UD is present. The first is a patternwhere people are not separated from each other, whilst the secondis a pattern of facilitating equal use by placing low demands on users’abilities. It was revealed that UD was implemented more in remodellingprojects than in new constructions, which instead created new inequalitiesthrough categorisations of users and high demands on users’ abilities.They were also linked to an imbalance between green and socialsustainability.We argue that a change of mindset is pivotal for implementing UD.Human diversity must be a consideration throughout planning andbuilding processes, and creating a sustainable society requires UD. Thisarticle contributes new knowledge regarding patterns characterisingsuch a mindshift.

- Denna handbok beskriver relevansen av och tillvägagångssättet att planera och förvalta solcellsparker att gynna biologisk mångfald och ekosystemtjänster, med särskild fokus på jordbruk. Med utgångspunkten i hänsynshierarkin beskrivs hur målet om netto noll eller netto positiv påverkan kan integreras i solcellsprojektens olika faser. Centralt är att placeringar på mark med höga naturvärden ska undvikas. Planeringsfasen för nya solcellsparker behöver ta avstamp i de lokala förutsättningarna avseende befintliga naturvärden, potentialen för jordbruk och sociala och rekreativa värden. Sedan ska solcellsparken utformas så att solelproduktion och biologisk mångfald, jordbruk och/eller andra ekosystemtjänster kan samexistera. Detta kan underlättas genom zonindelningar och val av lämplig solcellsmontering och lämpliga solcellspaneler. Även framtagande av skötselplaner i ett tidigt skede bidrar till en anläggning som har goda förutsättningar att skapa multifunktionella värden. Anläggningsfasen ska utföras så att minimal påverkan sker på naturen och marken, till exempel genom att undvika vissa årstider, att hålla skyddsavstånd och undvika markpackning. Driftfasen handlar om rätt skötsel, så att den önskade biologiska mångfalden kan frodas och/eller att jordbruket är produktivt och att de olika aktiviteter kan hanteras effektivt sida vid sida. För att inspirera och ge konkret guidning innehåller handboken åtgärdsbibliotek för ekovoltaiska system (d.v.s. kombinationer av ökad biologisk mångfald och reglerande, kulturella och/eller stödjande ekosystemtjänster med solcellsinstallationer) och agrivoltaiska system. Solcellstekniska lösningar och deras påverkan på förutsättningar för framförallt jordbruk, men även biologisk mångfald, beskrivs också i mer detalj i handboken.

Bedömningarna baseras på det forskningssamarbete och den rådgivning som sker inom det Internationella Havsforskningsrådet (ICES).De bestånd som förvaltas nationellt baseras på de biologiska underlagen, och rådgivningen i huvudsak på den forskning och övervakning samt analys som bedrivs av Institutionen för akvatiska resurser vid Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet (SLU Aqua) samt yrkesfiskets rapportering.Rapporten omfattar 41 fiskarter och åtta skaldjursarter.Nytt för i år är att flodkräftan och signalkräftan har fått egna presentationer. Vi har även ett nytt kapitel "Hållbarhetsbedömning av fisk- och skaldjursbestånd i havsområden runt Sverige”. Det består av en sammanfattning av den årliga bedömningen av hållbarheten i nyttjandet av fisk- och skaldjursbestånd i kust och hav runt Sverige. Bedömningenär baserad på de senaste tre åren vilket möjliggör en jämförelse över tid iantalet hållbart nyttjade bestånd. Jämförelsen visar inga tydliga förändringar över de senaste tre åren.Det finns ett nytt avsnitt i kapitlet ”Från biologi till förvaltning” om hur Havs- och vattenmyndighetens tillståndsgivning går till, och hur bedömningen baseras på resursöversikten vid ansökan om fiskelicens eller annan tillståndsgivning. Kapitlet har också utökats med ett avsnitt där SCB:s fritidsfiskeundersökning beskrivs och hur resultatet används i beståndsanalyserna.

- Totalfångsten i yrkesfisket i Vänern har planat ut runt 600 ton per år. Den viktigaste arten för yrkesfisket var gös, vilken stod för cirka 43 procent av totala fångstens värde. Den näst viktigaste arten är siklöja (27 procent av värdet). Fångsterna av gös, lake och sik ökade från 2014 till 2015, medan abborre, ål, gädda och siklöja minskade och lax- och öringfångsterna i stort sett var oförändrade. De registrerade fritidsfiskarna fångade under 2015 totalt 44 ton, vilket är den lägsta fångsten sedan statistiken infördes. Totalt 240 400 lax- och öringsmolt sattes ut våren 2016 vilket är något under medelvärdet för den föregående femårsperioden. Även utsättningen av ål har minskatpå senare år, 150 000 karantäniserade ålyngel sattes ut under 2015 att jämföra med 600 000 stycken under 2014.
