  • Report from the fifth international consensus meeting to harmonize core outcome measures for atopic eczema/dermatitis clinical trials (HOME initiative)
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: British Journal of Dermatology. - : John Wiley & Sons. - 0007-0963 .- 1365-2133. ; 178:5, s. E332-E341
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This is the report from the fifth meeting of the Harmonising Outcome Measures for Eczema initiative (HOME V). The meeting was held on 12-14 June 2017 in Nantes, France, with 81 participants. The main aims of the meeting were (i) to achieve consensus over the definition of the core domain of long-term control and how to measure it and (ii) to prioritize future areas of research for the measurement of the core domain of quality of life (QoL) in children. Moderated whole-group and small-group consensus discussions were informed by presentations of qualitative studies, systematic reviews and validation studies. Small-group allocations were performed a priori to ensure that each group included different stakeholders from a variety of geographical regions. Anonymous whole-group voting was carried out using handheld electronic voting pads according to pre-defined consensus rules. It was agreed by consensus that the long-term control domain should include signs, symptoms, quality of life and a patient global instrument. The group agreed that itch intensity should be measured when assessing long-term control of eczema in addition to the frequency of itch captured by the symptoms domain. There was no recommendation of an instrument for the core outcome domain of quality of life in children, but existing instruments were assessed for face validity and feasibility, and future work that will facilitate the recommendation of an instrument was agreed upon.

  • Magnetic properties of deformed dipole bands in Te-110,Te-112
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: Physica Scripta. - 0031-8949. ; T125, s. 192-193
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A lifetime analysis using the Doppler-shift attenuation method has been performed on the Tellurium isotopes Te-110,Te-112. The experiment was performed using the Gammasphere array in conjunction with the MICROBALL charged-particle detector. Three strongly coupled bands were previously established in Te-110,Te-112 which were observed up to unusually high spins. In the current experiment, it has been possible to extract lifetime measurements using a Doppler broadened lineshape analysis on one of the Delta I = 1 band structures in Te-110. In contrast to similar Delta I = 1 structures in other nuclei in this mass region, the extracted B(M1) values did not rapidly decrease with increasing angular momentum. Instead, the strongly coupled band in Te-110 represents a deformed 1p-1h structure, rather than a weakly deformed structure showing the shears mechanism.

  • Smooth terminating bands in Te-112: Particle-hole induced collectivity
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C (Nuclear Physics). - 0556-2813. ; 75:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Gammasphere spectrometer, in conjunction with the Microball charged-particle array, was used to investigate high-spin states in Te-112 via Ni-58(Ni-58, 4p gamma) reactions at 240 and 250 MeV. Several smooth terminating bands were established, and lifetime measurements were performed for the strongest one using the Doppler-shift attenuation method. Results obtained in the spin range 18-32h yield a transition quadrupole moment of 4.0 +/- 0.5eb, which corresponds to a quadrupole deformation epsilon(2)=0.26 +/- 0.03; this value is significantly larger than the ground-state deformation of tellurium isotopes. It was also possible to extract a transition quadrupole moment for the yrast band in Xe-114, produced via the 58Ni (58Ni, 2p gamma) reaction. A value of 3.0 +/- 0.5eb was found in the spin range 16-24h, which corresponds to a quadrupole deformation epsilon(2)=0.19 +/- 0.03. Cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky calculations are used to interpret the results.

  • Smooth band termination at high spin in 113I
  • 2001
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C - Nuclear Physics. - 0556-2813. ; 64:1, s. 143041-1430419
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The 113I nucleus has been studied using the 58Ni(58Ni,3p) reaction at 250 MeV with the Gammasphere/ Microball facility. Gamma-ray three-and four-fold data gated by charged particle combinations were analyzed. Multipolarities of the γ rays were assigned following the angular correlation measurements. The present study is focused on the high spin properties, where the structure is dominated by 2p-2h excitations across the Z=50 gap. Ten decoupled bands showing the features of smooth band termination were observed; three of those bands are linked to known low-spin states, which allows the identification of configurations by direct comparisons with configuration-dependent cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky calculations. The yrast band, which was linked along with the signature partner, was followed up to (101/2+) and ℏω∼1.3 MeV. The other linked band was a negative-parity band observed up to (95/2-). Tentative configurations for the unlinked bands are discussed. Comparisons with the theoretical results suggest that the band built on a configuration involving the neutron i13/2 intruder orbital originating from the N=6 harmonic oscillator subshell was observed in this experiment.

  • Collective structures and band termination in 107Sb
  • 2000
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C - Nuclear Physics. - 0556-2813. ; 62:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • High-spin states in the near proton-dripline nucleus 107Sb have been identified, and collectivity in this nucleus has been observed for the first time in the form of two rotational bands. One of the observed rotational structures is a ΔI = 1 band, and is interpreted as based on a π(g9/2)-1 ⊗ π(g7/2d5/2)2 proton configuration. A second structure has ΔI = 2 character, and is explained as being based on a πh11/2⊗[π(g9/2)-2 ⊗ π(g7/2d5/2)2] proton configuration through comparison with cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky model calculations. The calculations predict that this band terminates at a spin of 79/2 (Latin small letter h with stroke).

  • Identification of excited states in 119Ba
  • 2000
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C - Nuclear Physics. - 0556-2813. ; 61:4
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Excited states have been identified in the very neutron-deficient 119Ba nucleus. Two bands have been observed, which are likely to be based on h11/2 and (g7/2d5/2) neutron orbitals. Despite this being the first observation of excited states in 119Ba, the bands extend to (75/2)ℏ and (79/2)ℏ, respectively. The bands have been assigned to 119Ba using gamma-recoil and gamma-x-ray coincidences. Several quasiparticle alignments have been identified, involving neutron (h11/2)2 and proton (h11/2)2 aligned configurations. Furthermore, the bands show features which are reasonably consistent with smooth band termination at high spin. Theoretical results for 119Ba are discussed within the framework of cranked Woods-Saxon and Nilsson-Strutinsky calculations.

  • Mutations in the gene encoding PDGF-B cause brain calcifications in humans and mice
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Nature Genetics. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1061-4036 .- 1546-1718. ; 45:9, s. 1077-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Calcifications in the basal ganglia are a common incidental finding and are sometimes inherited as an autosomal dominant trait ( idiopathic basal ganglia calcification (IBGC)). Recently, mutations in the PDGFRB gene coding for the platelet-derived growth factor receptor beta (PDGF-R beta) were linked to IBGC. Here we identify six families of different ancestry with nonsense and missense mutations in the gene encoding PDGF-B, the main ligand for PDGF-R beta. We also show that mice carrying hypomorphic Pdgfb alleles develop brain calcifications that show age-related expansion. The occurrence of these calcium depositions depends on the loss of endothelial PDGF-B and correlates with the degree of pericyte and blood-brain barrier deficiency. Thus, our data present a clear link between Pdgfb mutations and brain calcifications in mice, as well as between PDGFB mutations and IBGC in humans.

  • SN 2022joj : A Peculiar Type Ia Supernova Possibly Driven by an Asymmetric Helium-shell Double Detonation
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Astrophysical Journal. - 0004-637X .- 1538-4357. ; 958:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present observations of SN 2022joj, a peculiar Type Ia supernova discovered by the Zwicky Transient Facility. SN 2022joj exhibits an unusually red g ZTF - r ZTF color at early times and a rapid blueward evolution afterward. Around maximum brightness, SN 2022joj shows a high luminosity ( MgZTF,max similar or equal to-19.7 mag), a blue broadband color (g ZTF - r ZTF similar or equal to -0.2 mag), and shallow Si ii absorption lines, consistent with those of overluminous, SN 1991T-like events. The maximum-light spectrum also shows prominent absorption around 4200 angstrom, which resembles the Ti ii features in subluminous, SN 1991bg-like events. Despite the blue optical-band colors, SN 2022joj exhibits extremely red ultraviolet minus optical colors at maximum luminosity (u - v similar or equal to 0.6 mag and uvw1 - v similar or equal to 2.5 mag), suggesting a suppression of flux at similar to 2500-4000 angstrom. Strong C ii lines are also detected at peak. We show that these unusual spectroscopic properties are broadly consistent with the helium-shell double detonation of a sub-Chandrasekhar mass (M similar or equal to 1 M circle dot) carbon/oxygen white dwarf from a relatively massive helium shell (M s similar or equal to 0.04-0.1 M circle dot), if observed along a line of sight roughly opposite to where the shell initially detonates. None of the existing models could quantitatively explain all the peculiarities observed in SN 2022joj. The low flux ratio of [Ni ii] lambda 7378 to [Fe ii] lambda 7155 emission in the late-time nebular spectra indicates a low yield of stable Ni isotopes, favoring a sub-Chandrasekhar mass progenitor. The significant blueshift measured in the [Fe ii] lambda 7155 line is also consistent with an asymmetric chemical distribution in the ejecta, as is predicted in double-detonation models.

  • Defining and measuring 'eczema control' : an international qualitative study to explore the views of those living with and treating atopic eczema
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology. - : John Wiley & Sons. - 0926-9959 .- 1468-3083. ; 33:6, s. 1124-1132
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background Atopic eczema (also known as eczema) is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition that often afflicts patients' health and well-being. The Harmonising Outcome Measures for Eczema (HOME) initiative recommends that 'long-term control of eczema' is measured in all clinical trials 3 months or longer in duration. However, little has been published on what eczema control means to those living with or treating atopic eczema. Objectives To (i) develop understanding of what eczema control means to patients, carers and clinicians and (ii) explore the feasibility and acceptability of different ways of measuring eczema control in the long term. Methods Online focus groups explored patients/carers experiences in the UK, the United States, the Netherlands, France, Sweden and Japan, and an international online survey gathered views of clinicians. The framework method was used to analyse the focus groups, and thematic analysis was used to analyse survey data. All findings were integrated into a theoretical framework to create overarching themes that cut across these diverse groups. Results Eight focus groups with patients (16 years+) and eight groups with carers of children took place (N = 97). Sixty-two people took part in the survey. Eczema control was described as a multifaceted construct involving changes in disease activity, the treatment and management of the condition and psychological, social and physical functioning. Patient/carer measurement allows personal accounts and frequent measurement, whilst clinician measurement was deemed less subjective. The burden on patients/carers and issues for analysing and interpreting data should be considered. Conclusions This study formed the basis of judging the content validity and feasibility of measurement instruments/methods to assess control of eczema in clinical trials. This online approach to an international qualitative study is an example of how core outcome set developers with limited resources can engage with multiple stakeholder groups on an international basis to inform consensus meeting discussions.

  • Development and initial testing of a new instrument to measure the experience of eczema control in adults and children : Recap of atopic eczema (RECAP)
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: British Journal of Dermatology. - : Oxford University Press (OUP). - 0007-0963 .- 1365-2133. ; 183:3, s. 524-536
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Eczema control has been identified as an important outcome by key stakeholders in eczema research (including patients, carers, healthcare professionals and researchers) but no validated instruments for the domain have been identified. Objectives: To develop a measurement instrument to capture a patient's perspective of eczema control that is suitable for use in eczema clinical trials. Methods: Best practice for the development of a patient-reported outcome was followed. A mixed-methods approach was used to develop and refine a conceptual framework, generate, refine and select items and to test the distribution and construct validity of the final scale. The mixed-methods approach involved expert panel meetings (including patient representatives, healthcare professionals and methodologists), and data collection using a focus group, cognitive interviews and an online survey with people with eczema and caregivers. Multivariable linear regression was used in the item selection process. Results: Fourteen expert panel members co-produced the instrument, with input from people with eczema and caregivers via a focus group (n = 6), cognitive interviews (n = 13) and an online survey (n = 330). The resulting instrument, Recap of atopic eczema (RECAP), is a seven-item questionnaire that captures eczema control via self or caregiver report. The development process aimed to ensure good content validity and feasibility. Initial testing suggested no floor or ceiling effects and good construct validity. Hypothesized correlation with the Patient-Oriented Eczema Measure was confirmed [r(258) = 0·83, P < 0·001]. Conclusions: RECAP has the potential to improve reporting of eczema control in research and clinical practice. Further exploration of measurement properties is required. What's already known about this topic?. Eczema control has been identified as an important outcome by key stakeholders in eczema research (including patients, carers, healthcare professionals and researchers). Qualitative studies suggest eczema control is a multifaceted and individual experience and no instrument has been identified that captures eczema control in this way. What does this study add?. We have developed Recap of atopic eczema (RECAP), a seven-item questionnaire to capture the experience of eczema control in all ages and eczema severities; there are two versions: a self-reported version for adults and older children with eczema, and a caregiver-reported version for younger children with eczema. Designed with input from people with eczema, caregivers and healthcare professionals to ensure good content validity. Initial testing of score distributions and construct validity suggests good measurement properties. What are the clinical implications of the work?. The RECAP instrument is appropriate and feasible for measuring eczema control in clinical trials and may also be useful in routine practice.

  • The Sariçiçek howardite fall in Turkey : Source crater of HED meteorites on Vesta and impact risk of Vestoids
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Meteoritics and Planetary Science. - Hoboken : John Wiley & Sons. - 1086-9379 .- 1945-5100. ; 54:5, s. 953-1008
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Sariçiçek howardite meteorite shower consisting of 343 documented stones occurred on September 2, 2015 in Turkey and is the first documented howardite fall. Cosmogenic isotopes show that Sariçiçek experienced a complex cosmic‐ray exposure history, exposed during ~12–14 Ma in a regolith near the surface of a parent asteroid, and that an ~1 m sized meteoroid was launched by an impact 22 ± 2 Ma ago to Earth (as did one‐third of all HED meteorites). SIMS dating of zircon and baddeleyite yielded 4550.4 ± 2.5 Ma and 4553 ± 8.8 Ma crystallization ages for the basaltic magma clasts. The apatite U‐Pb age of 4525 ± 17 Ma, K‐Ar age of ~3.9 Ga, and the U,Th‐He ages of 1.8 ± 0.7 and 2.6 ± 0.3 Ga are interpreted to represent thermal metamorphic and impact‐related resetting ages, respectively. Petrographic; geochemical; and O‐, Cr‐, and Ti‐isotopic studies confirm that Sariçiçek belongs to the normal clan of HED meteorites. Petrographic observations and analysis of organic material indicate a small portion of carbonaceous chondrite material in the Sariçiçek regolith and organic contamination of the meteorite after a few days on soil. Video observations of the fall show an atmospheric entry at 17.3 ± 0.8 km s−1 from NW; fragmentations at 37, 33, 31, and 27 km altitude; and provide a pre‐atmospheric orbit that is the first dynamical link between the normal HED meteorite clan and the inner Main Belt. Spectral data indicate the similarity of Sariçiçek with the Vesta asteroid family (V‐class) spectra, a group of asteroids stretching to delivery resonances, which includes (4) Vesta. Dynamical modeling of meteoroid delivery to Earth shows that the complete disruption of a ~1 km sized Vesta family asteroid or a ~10 km sized impact crater on Vesta is required to provide sufficient meteoroids ≤4 m in size to account for the influx of meteorites from this HED clan. The 16.7 km diameter Antionia impact crater on Vesta was formed on terrain of the same age as given by the 4He retention age of Sariçiçek. Lunar scaling for crater production to crater counts of its ejecta blanket show it was formed ~22 Ma ago.

  • The impact and recovery of asteroid 2018 LA
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Meteoritics and Planetary Science. - : John Wiley & Sons. - 1086-9379 .- 1945-5100. ; 56:4, s. 844-893
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The June 2, 2018 impact of asteroid 2018 LA over Botswana is only the second asteroid detected in space prior to impacting over land. Here, we report on the successful recovery of meteorites. Additional astrometric data refine the approach orbit and define the spin period and shape of the asteroid. Video observations of the fireball constrain the asteroid's position in its orbit and were used to triangulate the location of the fireball's main flare over the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Twenty‐three meteorites were recovered. A consortium study of eight of these classifies Motopi Pan as an HED polymict breccia derived from howardite, cumulate and basaltic eucrite, and diogenite lithologies. Before impact, 2018 LA was a solid rock of ~156 cm diameter with high bulk density ~2.85 g cm−3, a relatively low albedo pV ~ 0.25, no significant opposition effect on the asteroid brightness, and an impact kinetic energy of ~0.2 kt. The orbit of 2018 LA is consistent with an origin at Vesta (or its Vestoids) and delivery into an Earth‐impacting orbit via the ν6 resonance. The impact that ejected 2018 LA in an orbit toward Earth occurred 22.8 ± 3.8 Ma ago. Zircons record a concordant U‐Pb age of 4563 ± 11 Ma and a consistent 207Pb/206Pb age of 4563 ± 6 Ma. A much younger Pb‐Pb phosphate resetting age of 4234 ± 41 Ma was found. From this impact chronology, we discuss what is the possible source crater of Motopi Pan and the age of Vesta's Veneneia impact basin.

  • SN 2020jgb : A Peculiar Type Ia Supernova Triggered by a Helium-shell Detonation in a Star-forming Galaxy
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Astrophysical Journal. - 0004-637X .- 1538-4357. ; 946:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The detonation of a thin (less than or similar to 0.03 M (circle dot)) helium shell (He-shell) atop a similar to 1 M (circle dot) white dwarf (WD) is a promising mechanism to explain normal Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia), while thicker He-shells and less massive WDs may explain some recently observed peculiar SNe Ia. We present observations of SN 2020jgb, a peculiar SN Ia discovered by the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF). Near maximum brightness, SN 2020jgb is slightly subluminous (ZTF g-band absolute magnitude -18.7 mag less than or similar to M ( g ) less than or similar to -18.2 mag depending on the amount of host-galaxy extinction) and shows an unusually red color (0.2 mag less than or similar to g (ZTF) - r (ZTF) less than or similar to 0.4 mag) due to strong line-blanketing blueward of similar to 5000 angstrom. These properties resemble those of SN 2018byg, a peculiar SN Ia consistent with an He-shell double detonation (DDet) SN. Using detailed radiative transfer models, we show that the optical spectroscopic and photometric evolution of SN 2020jgb is broadly consistent with a similar to 0.95-1.00 M (circle dot) (C/O core + He-shell) progenitor ignited by a greater than or similar to 0.1 M (circle dot) He-shell. However, one-dimensional radiative transfer models without non-local-thermodynamic-equilibrium treatment cannot accurately characterize the line-blanketing features, making the actual shell mass uncertain. We detect a prominent absorption feature at similar to 1 mu m in the near-infrared (NIR) spectrum of SN 2020jgb, which might originate from unburnt helium in the outermost ejecta. While the sample size is limited, we find similar 1 mu m features in all the peculiar He-shell DDet candidates with NIR spectra obtained to date. SN 2020jgb is also the first peculiar He-shell DDet SN discovered in a star-forming dwarf galaxy, indisputably showing that He-shell DDet SNe occur in both star-forming and passive galaxies, consistent with the normal SN Ia population.

  • Obesity-induced changes in lipid mediators persist after weight loss
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Obesity. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0307-0565 .- 1476-5497. ; 42:4, s. 728-736
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background:Obesity induces significant changes in lipid mediators, however, the extent to which these changes persist after weight loss has not been investigated.Subjects/Methods:We fed C57BL6 mice a high-fat diet to generate obesity and then switched the diet to a lower-fat diet to induce weight loss. We performed a comprehensive metabolic profiling of lipid mediators including oxylipins, endocannabinoids, sphingosines and ceramides in key metabolic tissues (including adipose, liver, muscle and hypothalamus) and plasma. Results:We found that changes induced by obesity were largely reversible in most metabolic tissues but the adipose tissue retained a persistent obese metabolic signature. Prostaglandin signaling was perturbed in the obese state and lasting increases in PGD 2, and downstream metabolites 15-deoxy PGJ 2 and delta-12-PGJ 2 were observed after weight loss. Furthermore expression of the enzyme responsible for PGD 2 synthesis (hematopoietic prostaglandin D synthase, HPGDS) was increased in obese adipose tissues and remained high after weight loss. We found that inhibition of HPGDS over the course of 5 days resulted in decreased food intake in mice. Increased HPGDS expression was also observed in human adipose tissues obtained from obese compared with lean individuals. We then measured circulating levels of PGD 2 in obese patients before and after weight loss and found that while elevated relative to lean subjects, levels of this metabolite did not decrease after significant weight loss. Conclusions:These results suggest that lasting changes in lipid mediators induced by obesity, still present after weight loss, may play a role in the biological drive to regain weight. © 2018 Macmillan Publishers Limited.

  • Fall, recovery, and characterization of the Novato L6 chondrite breccia
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Meteoritics and Planetary Science. - : Wiley. - 1086-9379. ; 49:8, s. 1388-1425
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Novato L6 chondrite fragmental breccia fell in California on 17 October 2012, and was recovered after the Cameras for Allsky Meteor Surveillance (CAMS) project determined the meteor's trajectory between 95 and 46 km altitude. The final fragmentation from 42 to 22 km altitude was exceptionally well documented by digital photographs. The first sample was recovered before rain hit the area. First results from a consortium study of the meteorite's characterization, cosmogenic and radiogenic nuclides, origin, and conditions of the fall are presented. Some meteorites did not retain fusion crust and show evidence of spallation. Before entry, the meteoroid was 35 +/- 5 cm in diameter (mass 80 +/- 35 kg) with a cosmic-ray exposure age of 9 +/- 1 Ma, if it had a one-stage exposure history. A two-stage exposure history is more likely, with lower shielding in the last few Ma. Thermoluminescence data suggest a collision event within the last similar to 0.1 Ma. Novato probably belonged to the class of shocked L chondrites that have a common shock age of 470 Ma, based on the U, Th-He age of 420 +/- 220 Ma. The measured orbits of Novato, Jesenice, and Innisfree are consistent with a proposed origin of these shocked L chondrites in the Gefion asteroid family, perhaps directly via the 5: 2 mean-motion resonance with Jupiter. Novato experienced a stronger compaction than did other L6 chondrites of shock-stage S4. Despite this, a freshly broken surface shows a wide range of organic compounds.
