  • Chemoprophylaxis, diagnosis, treatments, and discharge management of COVID-19 : An evidence-based clinical practice guideline (updated version)
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Military Medical Research. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 2054-9369. ; 7:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the cause of a rapidly spreading illness, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), affecting more than seventeen million people around the world. Diagnosis and treatment guidelines for clinicians caring for patients are needed. In the early stage, we have issued "A rapid advice guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) infected pneumonia (standard version)"; now there are many direct evidences emerged and may change some of previous recommendations and it is ripe for develop an evidence-based guideline. We formed a working group of clinical experts and methodologists. The steering group members proposed 29 questions that are relevant to the management of COVID-19 covering the following areas: chemoprophylaxis, diagnosis, treatments, and discharge management. We searched the literature for direct evidence on the management of COVID-19, and assessed its certainty generated recommendations using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) approach. Recommendations were either strong or weak, or in the form of ungraded consensus-based statement. Finally, we issued 34 statements. Among them, 6 were strong recommendations for, 14 were weak recommendations for, 3 were weak recommendations against and 11 were ungraded consensus-based statement. They covered topics of chemoprophylaxis (including agents and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) agents), diagnosis (including clinical manifestations, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), respiratory tract specimens, IgM and IgG antibody tests, chest computed tomography, chest x-ray, and CT features of asymptomatic infections), treatments (including lopinavir-ritonavir, umifenovir, favipiravir, interferon, remdesivir, combination of antiviral drugs, hydroxychloroquine/chloroquine, interleukin-6 inhibitors, interleukin-1 inhibitors, glucocorticoid, qingfei paidu decoction, lianhua qingwen granules/capsules, convalescent plasma, lung transplantation, invasive or noninvasive ventilation, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)), and discharge management (including discharge criteria and management plan in patients whose RT-PCR retesting shows SARS-CoV-2 positive after discharge). We also created two figures of these recommendations for the implementation purpose. We hope these recommendations can help support healthcare workers caring for COVID-19 patients.

  • 2021
  • Ingår i: 2021 IEEE/CVF INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON COMPUTER VISION WORKSHOPS (ICCVW 2021). - : IEEE COMPUTER SOC. - 9781665401913 ; , s. 2711-2738
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Visual Object Tracking challenge VOT2021 is the ninth annual tracker benchmarking activity organized by the VOT initiative. Results of 71 trackers are presented; many are state-of-the-art trackers published at major computer vision conferences or in journals in recent years. The VOT2021 challenge was composed of four sub-challenges focusing on different tracking domains: (i) VOT-ST2021 challenge focused on short-term tracking in RGB, (ii) VOT-RT2021 challenge focused on "real-time" short-term tracking in RGB, (iii) VOT-LT2021 focused on long-term tracking, namely coping with target disappearance and reappearance and (iv) VOT-RGBD2021 challenge focused on long-term tracking in RGB and depth imagery. The VOT-ST2021 dataset was refreshed, while VOT-RGBD2021 introduces a training dataset and sequestered dataset for winner identification. The source code for most of the trackers, the datasets, the evaluation kit and the results along with the source code for most trackers are publicly available at the challenge website(1).

  • Robust estimation of bacterial cell count from optical density
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Communications Biology. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 2399-3642. ; 3:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Optical density (OD) is widely used to estimate the density of cells in liquid culture, but cannot be compared between instruments without a standardized calibration protocol and is challenging to relate to actual cell count. We address this with an interlaboratory study comparing three simple, low-cost, and highly accessible OD calibration protocols across 244 laboratories, applied to eight strains of constitutive GFP-expressing E. coli. Based on our results, we recommend calibrating OD to estimated cell count using serial dilution of silica microspheres, which produces highly precise calibration (95.5% of residuals <1.2-fold), is easily assessed for quality control, also assesses instrument effective linear range, and can be combined with fluorescence calibration to obtain units of Molecules of Equivalent Fluorescein (MEFL) per cell, allowing direct comparison and data fusion with flow cytometry measurements: in our study, fluorescence per cell measurements showed only a 1.07-fold mean difference between plate reader and flow cytometry data.

  • The Seventh Visual Object Tracking VOT2019 Challenge Results
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: 2019 IEEE/CVF INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON COMPUTER VISION WORKSHOPS (ICCVW). - : IEEE COMPUTER SOC. - 9781728150239 ; , s. 2206-2241
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Visual Object Tracking challenge VOT2019 is the seventh annual tracker benchmarking activity organized by the VOT initiative. Results of 81 trackers are presented; many are state-of-the-art trackers published at major computer vision conferences or in journals in the recent years. The evaluation included the standard VOT and other popular methodologies for short-term tracking analysis as well as the standard VOT methodology for long-term tracking analysis. The VOT2019 challenge was composed of five challenges focusing on different tracking domains: (i) VOT-ST2019 challenge focused on short-term tracking in RGB, (ii) VOT-RT2019 challenge focused on "real-time" short-term tracking in RGB, (iii) VOT-LT2019 focused on long-term tracking namely coping with target disappearance and reappearance. Two new challenges have been introduced: (iv) VOT-RGBT2019 challenge focused on short-term tracking in RGB and thermal imagery and (v) VOT-RGBD2019 challenge focused on long-term tracking in RGB and depth imagery. The VOT-ST2019, VOT-RT2019 and VOT-LT2019 datasets were refreshed while new datasets were introduced for VOT-RGBT2019 and VOT-RGBD2019. The VOT toolkit has been updated to support both standard short-term, long-term tracking and tracking with multi-channel imagery. Performance of the tested trackers typically by far exceeds standard baselines. The source code for most of the trackers is publicly available from the VOT page. The dataset, the evaluation kit and the results are publicly available at the challenge website(1).

  • Amplitude analysis of the D+ -> K-S(0)pi + (0)(pi) Dalitz plot
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Physical Review D. - 1550-7998 .- 1550-2368. ; 89:5, s. 052001-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We perform an analysis of the D+ -> K-S(0)pi + (0)(pi) Dalitz plot using a data set of 2.92 fb(-1) of e(+) e(-) collisions at the (3770) mass accumulated by the BESIII experiment, in which 166694 candidate events are selected with a background of 15.1%. The Dalitz plot is found to be well represented by a combination of six quasitwo- body decay channels [k(SP)(0)(+) (1450)(+,) ] plus a small nonresonant component. Using the fit fractions from this analysis, partial branching ratios are updated with higher precision than previous measurements.

  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Physical Review D. - 1550-7998 .- 1550-2368. ; 89:7, s. 074030-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Using (106.41 +/- 0.86) x 10(6) Psi(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, we study for the first time the decay chi(cJ) -> eta'K+K- (J = 1, 2), where eta' -> gamma rho(0) and eta' -> eta pi(+)pi(-). A partial wave analysis in the covariant tensor amplitude formalism is performed for the decay chi(c1) -> eta'K+K-. Intermediate processes chi(c1) -> eta'f(2)'(1525) chi(c1) -> K-0*(1430)K-+/-(-/+) (K-0*(1430)(+/-) -> eta'K-+/-) are observed with statistical significances larger than 5 sigma, and their branching fractions are measured.

  • Measurement of the branching fraction for psi(3686) -> omega K+K-
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Physical Review D. - 1550-7998 .- 1550-2368. ; 89:11, s. 112006-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • With 1.06 x 10(8) psi(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector, the branching fraction of psi(3686) -> omega K+K- is measured to be (1.54 +/- 0.04 +/- 0.11) x 10(-4). This is the most precise result to date, due to the largest psi(3686) sample, improved signal reconstruction efficiency, good simulation of the detector performance, and a more accurate knowledge of the continuum contribution. Using the branching fraction of J/psi -> omega K+K-, the ratio B(psi(3868) -> K+K-)/B(J/psi -> K+K-) is determined to be (18.4 +/- 3.7)%. This constitutes a significantly improved test of the 12% rule, with the uncertainty now dominated by the J/psi branching fraction.

  • Observation of e(+)e(-) -> gamma X(3872) at BESIII
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Physical Review Letters. - 0031-9007 .- 1079-7114. ; 112:9, s. 092001-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • With data samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring at center-of-mass energies from 4.009 to 4.420 GeV, the process e(+)e(-) -> gamma X(3872) is observed for the first time with a statistical significance of 6.3 sigma. The measured mass of the X(3872) is (3871.9 +/- 0.7(stat) +/- 0.2(syst)) MeV/c(2), in agreement with previous measurements. Measurements of the product of the cross section sigma[e(+)e(-) -> gamma X(3872)] and the branching fraction B [X(3872) -> pi(+)pi(-)J/psi] at center-of-mass energies 4.009, 4.229, 4.260, and 4.360 GeV are reported. Our measurements are consistent with expectations for the radiative transition process Y(4260) -> gamma X(3872).

  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Physical Review Letters. - 0031-9007 .- 1079-7114. ; 113:21, s. 212002-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Using data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider at center-of-mass energies of root s = 4.23, 4.26, and 4.36 GeV, we observe e(+)e(-) -> pi(0)pi(0)h(c) for the first time. The Born cross sections are measured and found to be about half of those of e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-)h(c) within less than 2 sigma. In the pi(0)h(c) mass spectrum, a structure at 4.02 GeV/c(2) is found. It is most likely to be the neutral isospin partner of the Z(c)(4020)(+/-) observed in the process of e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-)h(c) being found. A fit to the pi(0)h(c) invariant mass spectrum, with the width of the Z(c)(4020)(0) fixed to that of its charged isospin partner and possible interferences with non-Z(c)(4020)(0) amplitudes neglected, gives a mass of (4023.9 +/- 2.2 +/- 3.8) MeV/c(2) for the Z(c)(4020)(0), where the first error is statistical and the second systematic.

  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Using 2.25 x 10(8) J/psi events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage rings, we observe for the first time the process J/psi -> p (p) over bara(0)(980) -> pi(0)eta with a significance of 6.5 sigma (3.2 sigma including systematic uncertainties). The product branching fraction of J/psi -> p (p) over bara(0)(980) -> p (p) over bara(0)pi(0)eta is measured to be (6.8 +/- 1.2 +/- 1.3) x 10(-5), where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. This measurement provides information on the a(0) production near threshold coupling to p (p) over bar and improves the understanding of the dynamics of J/psi decays to four-body processes.

    • An energy scan near the tau pair production threshold has been performed using the BESIII detector. About 24 pb(-1) of data, distributed over four scan points, were collected. This analysis is based on t pair decays to ee, e mu, eh, h, hh, e.,. and p. final states, where h denotes a charged p or K. The mass of the t lepton is measured from a maximum likelihood fit to the t pair production cross- section data to be m(tau) = 1776.91 +/- 0.12_0.10 - 0.13 _ MeV/c(2), which is currently the most precise value in a single measurement.

    • The process e(+)e(-) -> p (p) over bar pi(0) has been studied by analyzing data collected at root s = 3.773 GeV, root s = 3.650 GeV, and during a psi(3770) line shape scan with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The Born cross section of p (p) over bar pi(0) in the vicinity of the psi(3770) is measured, and the Born cross section of psi(3770) -> p (p) over bar pi(0) is extracted considering interference between resonant and continuum production amplitudes. Two solutions with the same probability and a significance of 1.5 sigma are found. The solutions for the Born cross section of psi(3770) -> p (p) over bar pi(0) are 33.8 +/- 1.8 +/- 2.1 pb and 0.06(-0.04-0.01)(+0.10+0.01) pb (< 0.22 pb at a 90% confidence level). Using the estimated cross section and a constant decay amplitude approximation, the cross section sigma(p<(p)over bar> -> psi(3770)pi(0)) is calculated for the kinematic situation of the planned (p) over bar ANDA experiment. The maximum cross section corresponding to the two solutions is expected to be less than 0.79 nb at 90% confidence level and 122 +/- 10 nb at a center-of-mass energy of 5.26 GeV.

  • A Large Catalog of Multiwavelength GRB Afterglows. I. Color Evolution and Its Physical Implication
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series. - : Institute of Physics Publishing (IOPP). - 0067-0049 .- 1538-4365. ; 234:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The spectrum of gamma-ray burst (GRB) afterglows can be studied with color indices. Here, we present a large comprehensive catalog of 70 GRBs with multiwavelength optical transient data on which we perform a systematic study to find the temporal evolution of color indices. We categorize them into two samples based on how well the color indices are evaluated. The Golden sample includes 25 bursts mostly observed by GROND, and the Silver sample includes 45 bursts observed by other telescopes. For the Golden sample, we find that 96% of the color indices do not vary over time. However, the color indices do vary during short periods in most bursts. The observed variations are consistent with effects of (i) the cooling frequency crossing the studied energy bands in a wind medium (43%) and in a constant-density medium (30%), (ii) early dust extinction (12%), (iii) transition from reverse-shock to forward-shock emission (5%), or (iv) an emergent SN emission (10%). We also study the evolutionary properties of the mean color indices for different emission episodes. We find that 86% of the color indices in the 70 bursts show constancy between consecutive ones. The color index variations occur mainly during the late GRB-SN bump, the flare, and early reverse-shock emission components. We further perform a statistical analysis of various observational properties and model parameters (spectral index beta(CI)(o), electron spectral indices p(CI), etc.) using color indices. Overall, we conclude that similar to 90% of colors are constant in time and can be accounted for by the simplest external forward-shock model, while the varying color indices call for more detailed modeling.

    • Impaired progesterone (P4) signaling is linked to endometrial dysfunction and infertility in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Here, we report for the first time that elevated expression of progesterone receptor (PGR) isoforms A and B parallels increased estrogen receptor (ER) expression in PCOS-like rat uteri. The aberrant PGR-targeted gene expression in PCOS-like rats before and after implantation overlaps with dysregulated expression of Fkbp52 and Ncoa2, two genes that contribute to the development of uterine P4 resistance. In vivo and in vitro studies of the effects of metformin on the regulation of the uterine P4 signaling pathway under PCOS conditions showed that metformin directly inhibits the expression of PGR and ER along with the regulation of several genes that are targeted dependently or independently of PGR-mediated uterine implantation. Functionally, metformin treatment corrected the abnormal expression of cell-specific PGR and ER and some PGR-target genes in PCOS-like rats with implantation. Additionally, we documented how metformin contributes to the regulation of the PGR-associated MAPK/ERK/p38 signaling pathway in the PCOS-like rat uterus. Our data provide novel insights into how metformin therapy regulates uterine P4 signaling molecules under PCOS conditions.

  • Hydroxyl group functionalized graphene oxide nanosheets as additive for improved erythritol latent heat storage performance : A comprehensive evaluation on the benefits and challenges
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells. - : Elsevier BV. - 0927-0248 .- 1879-3398. ; 215
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets were employed as the additive to make composites of erythritol, a promising medium-temperature PCM candidate. GO nanosheets modified with hydroxyl groups were applied to improve the dispersion stability of the composites. A systematic characterization on the latent heat storage performance was performed for both pure and composite erythritol, in order to identify the benefits and challenges of the composites. It was found that the thermal conductivity is increased by nearly twice and the degree of supercooling was lowered from ~64 °C to ~48 °C at the loading of 1.0 wt% GO nanosheets (the maximum loading tested). The addition of GO nanosheets also leads to an increase of the retrievable latent heat during crystallization, from ~187 kJ/kg to ~225 kJ/kg at the same loading, by increasing the crystallinity. However, the introduction of GO nanosheets can also lead to a rise in the dynamic viscosity of erythritol. As a result, the crystallization rate is slowed down and accordingly, the duration of crystallization becomes 62% longer when the loading reaches 1.0 wt%. In addition, favorable dispersion stability of the erythritol composites is observed, and their melting point (~117 °C) remains almost unchanged during 50 melting-crystallization cycles. Functionalized GO nanosheets have been shown to be an efficient additive for improving the performance of erythritol, but a trade-off analysis on the loading would be required to achieve the best overall performance.

  • Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)-enabled significant suppression of supercooling of erythritol for medium-temperature thermal energy storage
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Journal of Energy Storage. - : Elsevier BV. - 2352-152X .- 2352-1538. ; 46, s. 103915-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The supercooling effect is deemed to be a crucial issue for thermal energy storage using phase change materials (PCMs). The exploration of promising additives plays a decisive role in effective suppression efforts for suppressing the supercooling effect of a PCM. The present work proposed a potential additive, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), to reduce the supercooling of erythritol, which is the most promising polyol PCM candidate for medium temperature range. PVP with various loadings was dispersed in erythritol to make composites for the proof-of-concept tests. It was shown that the degree of supercooling of erythritol can be reduced significantly from over 64 ? to about 21 ? in the presence of only 1.0 wt.% PVP. Along with the mitigated supercooling effect, the addition of PVP also leads to an increase of the retrievable latent heat during crystallization, from ~187 J/g to ~224 J/g at the same minute PVP loading of 1.0 wt.%, by increasing the crystallinity of erythritol. The PVP-loaded erythritol composites exhibit little sacrifice in latent heat of fusion, i.e., only ~15% loss when the PVP loading reaches 6.0 wt.%. In addition, multiple tests confirmed that PVP can be dissolved in erythritol, thus desirable compatibility was obtained and the composites would have long-term reliability. This proposed additive enables an efficient and cost-effective way for improving the crystallization behaviors of erythritol (and other polyol PCMs) towards real-world applications.

  • Screening of sugar alcohols and their binary eutectic mixtures as phase change materials for low-to-medium temperature thermal energy storage. (II) : Isothermal melting and crystallization behaviors
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Energy. - : Elsevier. - 0360-5442 .- 1873-6785. ; 180, s. 572-583
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Based on the non-isothermal phase change behaviors of twenty-one pure and mixture sugar alcohols presented in our previous study (Part 1), the isothermal melting and crystallization behaviors were further tested in this supplemental work for five selected pure sugar alcohols (xylitol, erythritol, dmannitol, d-dulcitol and inositol) and their five binary eutectic mixtures to make an advanced screening of these candidates for low-to-medium temperature latent heat storage. The isothermal melting and crystallization behaviors of these ten candidates were tested at a constant degree of superheat (10 degrees C) and various degrees of subcooling up to 210 degrees C. The phase change temperatures, degrees of supercooling and durations of phase change were determined by the recorded temperature-history curves. It was found that the incrystallizable xylitol and its eutectic mixture of xylitol (75 mol%) + erythritol with low melting points under 100 degrees C are also unable to crystallize during isothermal cool-down at any degrees of subcooling (30-90 degrees C) due to the unavailability to nucleation. The rest eight crystallizable candidates all suffer from severe supercooling and are unable to crystallize at low degrees of subcooling (<20 degrees C). They undergo both one-phase supercooling due to poor nucleation performance and two-phase supercooling, which was unable to be obtained previously by non-isothermal cooling, due to slow crystallization kinetics. However, it seems difficult to find a correlation between the observed degrees of supercooling in both the liquid and solid phases and the prescribed degrees of subcooling by only three consecutive isothermal melting and crystallization cycles, as a result of the randomness of nucleation and large size of samples. The duration of crystallization was shown to decrease with increasing the degree of subcooling for both pure and mixture sugar alcohols due to the enhanced driving force for crystallization. The durations of crystallization of the mixture sugar alcohols appear to be longer than those of their pure compounds, due to the lower thermal conductivity and higher dynamic viscosity of the mixtures. Combining the present isothermal and the previous non-isothermal test results, it has been confirmed that the difficulty in crystallization and the severe supercooling are the primary issues for sugar alcohols, which must be addressed before they can be used in real-world latent heat storage systems.

  • Screening of sugar alcohols and their binary eutectic mixtures as phase change materials for low-to-medium temperature thermal energy storage. (III) : Thermal endurance
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Energy. - : PERGAMON-ELSEVIER SCIENCE LTD. - 0360-5442 .- 1873-6785. ; 209
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The thermal endurance of four pure and three binary eutectic mixture sugar alcohols were examined as a complementary work to the previous screening efforts based on the phase change behaviors towards latent heat storage. It was shown that both the melting point and latent heat of fusion of these sugar alcohols degrade with increasing the heating duration, and that a higher degree of superheat leads to faster degradation. The melting point drift mainly attributes to the shrinking range of hydrogen bonding, whereas the decay of latent heat is likely resulted from the disruption of hydrogen bond networks and incomplete crystallization. Among the various candidates, erythritol exhibits the best thermal endurance. The infrared spectra demonstrated that sugar alcohols can be oxidized to generate aldehydes upon heating when exposed to air. It was also found that the duration for 10% degradation of the latent heat of fusion of inositol can be extended by similar to 9 times when being protected by nitrogen gas. However, although the introduction of nitrogen gas could efficiently improve the thermal endurance, other complex reactions can still occur in inert gas atmosphere at high temperatures, leaving the room for further improving the thermal endurance of sugar alcohols toward real-world applications.

  • Inhibition of the Activation and Recruitment of Microglia-Like Cells Protects Against Neomycin-Induced Ototoxicity

  • Ingår i: Molecular Neurobiology. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0893-7648 .- 1559-1182. ; 51:1, s. 252-267

    • One of the most unfortunate side effects of aminoglycoside (AG) antibiotics such as neomycin is that they target sensory hair cells (HCs) and can cause permanent hearing impairment. We have observed HC loss and microglia-like cell (MLC) activation in the inner ear (cochlea) following neomycin administration. We focused on CX3CL1, a membrane-bound glycoprotein expressed on neurons and endothelial cells, as a way to understand how the MLCs are activated and the role these cells play in HC loss. CX3CL1 is the exclusive ligand for CX3CR1, which is a chemokine receptor expressed on the surface of macrophages and MLCs. In vitro experiments showed that the expression levels of CX3CL1 and CX3CR1 increased in the cochlea upon neomycin treatment, and CX3CL1 was expressed on HCs, while CX3CR1 was expressed on MLCs. When cultured with 1 mu g/mL exogenous CX3CL1, MLCs were activated by CX3CL1, and the cytokine level was increased in the cochleae leading to apoptosis in the HCs. In CX3CR1 knockout mice, a significantly greater number of cochlear HCs survived than in wild-type mice when the cochlear explants were cultured with neomycin in vitro. Furthermore, inhibiting the activation of MLCs with minocycline reduced the neomycin-induced HC loss and improved the hearing function in neomycin-treated mice in vivo. Our results demonstrate that CX3CL1-induced MLC activation plays an important role in the induction of HC death and provide evidence for CX3CL1 and CX3CR1 as promising new therapeutic targets for the prevention of hearing loss.

  • Microstructural evolution of epitaxial Ti3AlC2 film on sapphire under ion irradiation and nanoindentation-induced deformation
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Journal of Nuclear Materials. - : ELSEVIER SCIENCE BV. - 0022-3115 .- 1873-4820. ; 509, s. 181-187
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Feasibility of Ti3AlC2 phase as the protective coatings of accident tolerant fuels (ATFs) was investigated by means of ions irradiation, nanoindentation and transmission electron microscopy. Au ions irradiation was carried out on thin Ti3AlC2 film to simulate the high displacement damage induced by the energetic particles in the nuclear reactors. Nanoindentation on the Ti3AlC2 film was followed subsequently as a source of external stress to simulate the high pressure applied on the cladding in nuclear reactor cores of pressurized water reactors (PWRs). TEM was used to characterize the microstructural evolution of Ti3AlC2 film after irradiation and nanoindentation. TEM analysis shows that Ti3AlC2 film remains pristine layered structure and no amorphization was detected after irradiation to similar to 14 dpa. The combined nanoindentation and TEM show that no rupture and exfoliation of the Au-irradiated Ti3AlC2 film occur even the extern stress and total elongation induced by nanoindentation reach to 16.6 GPa and similar to 5%, respectively. The above results show good irradiation resistance and good ductility as well as excellent adhesion of the Ti3AlC2 coating on the substrate after high dose irradiation and under high external stress. This indicates the good feasibility of Ti3AlC2 thin films as the coatings of ATF claddings. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

  • Block-MUSIC in blade tip timing : Performance study of block snapshot matrix
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Mechanical systems and signal processing. - : Elsevier. - 0888-3270 .- 1096-1216. ; 198
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Periodic nonuniform sampling can be viewed as a combination of uniform sampling and non-uniform sampling. Blade tip timing (BTT) technique conforms to this sampling pattern, where non-uniformity and uniformity are caused by non-uniform probe layout and rotational motion, respectively. By introducing block structure into multiple signal classification (MUSIC) for the extension of snapshot matrix, Block-MUSIC has been proved to be anti-aliasing and can filter out synchronous frequency in BTT application. However, the theoretical justification of the block structure is lacking. In this paper, a performance study of Block-MUSIC is conducted from three aspects: identifiability, stability, and resolution. Additionally, a pseudo 2-dimensional signal model is proposed to represent the periodic nonuniform sampled signal under the assumption of equally spaced probes. To support the performance study, simulations and experiments are carried out to demonstrate how the size of the snapshot matrix, the noise level, and the amplitude of sinusoidal signals affect algorithm performance. Simulation codes are available at https://github.com/superjdg/block-music4btt.

  • Stable subspace dimension reduced MUSIC for blade tip timing
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Journal of Sound and Vibration. - : Elsevier. - 0022-460X .- 1095-8568. ; 545
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Multiple signal classification (MUSIC) is a parameter extraction method for blade tip timing to suppress the under-sampled problem. Its faster version, subspace dimension reduced MUSIC (SDR-MUSIC), has been proposed, which uses a single noise vector instead of the whole noise subspace to reduce computational complexity. However, the principle of random noise vector selection leads to instability in frequency identification. Therefore, we replace the random vector with the min-norm vector to obtain a stable SDR-MUSIC (SSDR-MUSIC). The superiority of the min-norm vector can be mathematically proven by the location of the zeros of the polynomial. Simulated and experimental tests indicate that SSDR-MUSIC gains stability when the min-norm vector is used while maintaining computational efficiency.
