  • Hot Water from Cold. The Dissociative Recombination of Water Cluster Ions
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physical Chemistry A. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 1089-5639 .- 1520-5215. ; 114:14, s. 4843-4846
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Dissociative recombination of the Zundel cation D(5)O(2)(+) almost exclusively produces D + 2 D(2)O with a maximum kinetic energy release of 5.1 eV. An imaging technique is used to investigate the distribution of the available reaction energy among these products. Analysis shows that as much as 4 eV can be stored internally by the molecular fragments, with a preference for producing highly excited molecular fragments, and that the deuteron shows a nonrandom distribution of kinetic energies. A possible mechanism and the implications for these observations are addressed.

  • Far-infrared spectra of the tryptamine A conformer by IR-UV ion gain spectroscopy
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics - PCCP. - 1463-9076. ; 18:47, s. 32116-32124
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present far infrared spectra of the conformer A of tryptamine in the 200 to 500 cm−1 wavenumber range along with resonant photoionization spectra of the far-infrared excited conformer A of tryptamine. We show that single-far-infrared photon excited tryptamine has highly structured resonance enhanced multi-photon ionization spectra, revealing the mode composition of the S1-state. Upon multiple-far-infrared photon absorption, the resonance enhanced multi-photon ionization spectrum broadens allowing ion gain spectroscopy to be performed. In the ion gain spectrum we detect the fundamental far-infrared modes but also combination and overtone bands with high efficiency. The implications to dip spectroscopy using a free electron laser compared to more conventional light sources are discussed.

  • Global satellite water classification data products over oceanic, coastal, and inland waters
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Remote Sensing of Environment. - : Elsevier BV. - 0034-4257 .- 1879-0704. ; 282
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Satellites have generated extensive data of remote sensing reflectance spectra (Rrs(λ)) covering diverse water classes or types across global waters. Spectral classification of satellite Rrs(λ) data allows for the distinguishing and grouping of waters with characteristic bio-optical/biogeochemical features that may influence the productivity of a given water body. This study reports new satellite water class products (Level-2 and Level-3) from the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS). We developed and implemented a hyperspectral scheme that accounts for the Rrs(λ) spectral shapes and globally resolves oceanic, coastal, and inland waters into 23 water classes. We characterized the light absorption and scattering coefficients, chlorophyll-a concentration, diffuse attenuation coefficient, and suspended particulate matter for individual water classes. It is shown that the water classes are separable by their distinct bio-optical and biogeochemical properties. Furthermore, validation result suggests that the VIIRS water class products are accurate globally. Finally, we examined the spatial and temporal variability of the water classes in case studies for a demonstration of applications. The water class data in open oceans reveal that the subtropical ocean gyres have experienced dramatic expansion over the last decade. In addition, the water class data appear to be a valuable (and qualitative) indicator for water quality in coastal and inland waters with compelling evidence. We stress that this new satellite product is an excellent addition to the aquatic science database, despite the need for continuous improvement toward perfection.

  • Position- and time-sensitive coincident detection of fragments from the dissociative recombination of O-2(+) using a single hexanode delay-line detector
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: DR2004. - BRISTOL : IOP PUBLISHING LTD. ; , s. 286-289
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • This contribution describes the use of the RoentDek hexanode delay line detector to detect fragments from the dissociative recombination of O-2(+) in an experiment at the ion storage ring CRYRING, Manne Siegbahn Laboratory, Stockholm. In this experiment, the fragments have a maximum time- and position-separation of 20ns and 40 mm, respectively. The position resolution obtained was 0.16mm (FWHM) on the 67 rum diameter detector. The time resolution obtained from the time-of-arrival difference between the product fragments was about 1 ns. The detector system handles event rates as large as 30 kHz. Techniques for the calibration of the absolute position of particles on the detector are discussed.
