  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Two of Cassian’s works, the Institutiones and the Collationes, are preserved in both Latin and Greek, and almost all scholars have taken it for granted that he wrote exclusively in Latin. This paper examines two passages from Cassian’s writings, one from the Institutiones (which has a parallel in an Evagrian florilegium) and the other from the Collationes. Arguing against the prevailing view, the paper provides evidence in support of the hypothesis that Cassian originally wrote the Institutiones in Greek. The paper highlights different theological emphases in the Latin and Greek versions and argues that in the translation of Cassian’s works also style, rhetoric, and theology were adapted.

  • Cost-efficient high-speed components for 100 gigabit ethernet transmission on one wavelength only : Results of the HECTO project
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: IEEE Communications Magazine. - 0163-6804 .- 1558-1896. ; 51:5, s. 136-144
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In 2010, the standard for 100GbE was approved, which specifies the transmission of 100 Gb/s via 4 wavelength channels of 25 Gb/s each. A solution based on a 100 Gb/s single wavelength channel is capable of significant cost reductions should the required components be available. Within the HECTO project, we developed components suitable for single-wavelength 100 Gb/s transmission. In this article, the project is described-its organization, objectives, possible impacts, and results-including the successful demonstration in a final field trial. A complete ETDM system utilizing the monolithically integrated transmitter and receiver modules developed in the project was built to transmit 112 Gb/s over 42 km standard single-mode fiber. Finally, we attempt an outlook on the prospective development of Ethernet standardization beyond 100GbE.

  • AMES: Towards an Agile Method for ERP Selection
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of the CAiSE'12 Forum at the 24th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAiSE). ; , s. 98-105
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Conventional on-premise installations of ERP are now rapidly being replaced by ERP as service. Although ERP becomes more accessible and no longer requires local infrastructure, current selection methods do not take full advantage of the provided agility. In this paper we present AMES (Agile Method for ERP Selection), a novel method for ERP selection which better utilizes the strengths of service oriented ERP. AMES is designed to shorten lead time for selection, support identification of essential system requirements, increase learning during the selection process and increase control over the subsequent ERP implementation. These properties of the method will help user organizations to make better and faster decisions when selecting ERP.

  • Veiled Integration: The Use of Headscarves among a Christian Minority in Sweden
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Religion. - 2633-352X .- 2633-3538. ; 4:1, s. 3-17
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this article, we trace a specific ‘situated bodily practice’, namely the ‘act of covering’ the head with a scarf during liturgy, in a church that has migrated from the Middle East to Sweden. This ‘veiled tradition’ is interpreted as a ‘ritual of migration’ that can cast light on the complexities of re-producing traditions in a new setting, functioning as a ‘cultural prism’ for the question of integration. The broader aim is to nuance the symbolic value given to the veil in political discourse in the West, as a sign of (non-)integration. The empirical basis for this study has mainly been film analyses of liturgies in Syriac Orthodox congregations in Sweden. Building on an analysis of this material, four different usages of the headscarf could be traced: as ordinary dress, that in theory should cover the hair, but seldom did; as festal dress, resembling an accessory; as liturgical dress, used both as a token of piety and spiritual authority, and not to dress in a headscarf, resisting gender discrimination. These usages are compared to, but not fully explained by the idea of ‘new veiling’ among Muslim women, and therefore broaden the understanding of veiled traditions in a migration context.

  • Effectiveness of the eVISualisation of physical activity and pain (eVIS) intervention in Interdisciplinary Pain Rehabilitation Programs : Study Protocol for a Registry-based Randomised Controlled Clinical Trial
  • 2022
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background and aims: * Interdisciplinary Pain Rehabilitation Programs (IPRPs) are considered to be superior to single-treatment measures in chronic pain treatment. However, the effects of IPRPs are moderate and as many as 30% of patients deteriorate in some outcomes. Although physical activity and exercise are central components in IPRPs, many patients struggle to achieve and maintain the recommended levels. An intervention, entitled eVISualisation of physical activity and pain (eVIS), has now been systematically developed and designed to facilitate patients with chronic pain in achieving and maintaining recommended physical activity levels. The aim of the present study protocol is to transparently report on the methodology, outcomes, and processes for an initiated registry-based randomized controlled trial (R-RCT), which will evaluate the effectiveness of eVIS on the primary outcome physical health and defined secondary outcomes. Methods: * Participants (approximately 400) will be recruited from IPRP units and randomly allocated to either IPRP with an addition of eVIS or to treatment as usual by IPRP. eVIS entails objectively measured physical activity and patient-reported outcomes of pain intensity, effect on daily activities and pharmaceutical consumption. Data is collected and visualized in a web application, PATRON. Pilot analyses evaluating the feasibility of the R-RCT will be performed on data from initial 30 participants. Outcomes will be extracted from PATRON and from six national registries. Multivariate statistics and repeated measures analyses will be performed. Results: * Recruitment will be initiated in late 2021. ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT05009459. Conclusions: * This study protocol describes a R-RCT that is designed to provide robust data on the feasibility and effectiveness of eVIS as an addition to IPRPs.

  • Effectiveness of the eVISualisation of physical activity and pain intervention (eVIS) in Swedish Interdisciplinary Pain Rehabilitation Programmes: study protocol for a registry-based randomised controlled clinical trial
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: BMJ open. - : BMJ. - 2044-6055. ; 12:4, s. e055071-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Living with chronic pain often involves negative consequences. Interdisciplinary Pain Rehabilitation Programmes (IPRP) is considered superior to single-treatment measures in patients with chronic pain. Despite this, effects emerge suboptimal and more than 20% of patients deteriorate in patient-reported physical health outcomes after IPRP. A novel e-Health intervention, eVISualisation (eVIS) of physical activity and pain, was systematically developed to facilitate individualisation of physical activity levels. By adding elements of data collection, visualisation and communication of objectively measured physical activity and patient-reported outcomes (pain intensity, interference of pain, pharmaceutical consumption) to existing treatment modalities in IPRP, the IPRP team acquires prerequisites to adapt advice and physical activity prescriptions and to evaluate set activity goals. The overall aim is twofold. First, the aim is to evaluate the feasibility of the subsequent registry-based randomised controlled clinical trial (R-RCT). Second, the aim is to prospectively evaluate the effectiveness of the eVIS-intervention as a supplement to IPRP on our defined primary (physical health) and secondary outcomes. Methods and analysisIn the R-RCT, recruitment of 400 patients with chronic pain will be performed at 15 IPRP units. A random allocation to either IPRP + eVIS or to control group that will receive IPRP only will be performed. Data from the initial 30 participants completing the study period (6 months) will be included in a pilot study, where key feasibility outcomes (recruitment, randomisation, implementation, treatment integrity, data collection procedure, preliminary outcome measures) will be evaluated. Outcome variables will be extracted from the web application Pain And TRaining ON-line (PATRON) and from six national registries. Multivariate statistics and repeated measure analyses will be performed. Quality-adjusted life years and incremental cost-effectiveness ratio will be calculated for cost-effectiveness evaluation.Ethics/disseminationThe Swedish Ethics Review Board granted approval (Dnr 2021/02109). Results will be disseminated through peer-reviewed journals.Trial registration numberNCT05009459. Protocol V.1.

  • Wrist-Worn Activity Trackers in Laboratory and Free-Living Settings for Patients With Chronic Pain : Criterion Validity Study
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: JMIR mhealth and uhealth. - : JMIR Publications. - 2291-5222. ; 9:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Physical activity is evidently a crucial part of the rehabilitation process for patients with chronic pain. Modern wrist-worn activity tracking devices seemingly have a great potential to provide objective feedback and assist in the adoption of healthy physical activity behavior by supplying data of energy expenditure expressed as metabolic equivalent of task units (MET). However, no studies of any wrist-worn activity tracking devices & rsquo; have examined criterion validity in estimating energy expenditure, heart rate, or step count in patients with chronic pain. Objective: The aim was to determine the criterion validity of wrist-worn activity tracking devices for estimations of energy expenditure, heart rate, and step count in a controlled laboratory setting and free-living settings for patients with chronic pain. Methods: In this combined laboratory and field validation study, energy expenditure, heart rate, and step count were simultaneously estimated by a wrist-worn activity tracker (Fitbit Versa), indirect calorimetry (Jaeger Oxycon Pro), and a research-grade hip-worn accelerometer (ActiGraph GT3X) during treadmill walking at 3 speeds (3.0 km/h, 4.5 km/h, and 6.0 km/h) in the laboratory setting. Energy expenditure and step count were also estimated by the wrist-worn activity tracker in free-living settings for 72 hours. The criterion validity of each measure was determined using intraclass and Spearman correlation, Bland-Altman plots, and mean absolute percentage error. An analysis of variance was used to determine whether there were any significant systematic differences between estimations. Results: A total of 42 patients (age: 25-66 years; male: 10/42, 24%; female: 32/42, 76%), living with chronic pain (duration, in years: mean 9, SD 6.72) were included. At baseline, their mean pain intensity was 3.5 (SD 1.1) out of 6 (Multidimensional Pain Inventory, Swedish version). Results showed that the wrist-worn activity tracking device (Fitbit Versa) systematically overestimated energy expenditure when compared to the criterion standard (Jaeger Oxycon Pro) and the relative criterion standard (ActiGraph GT3X). Poor agreement and poor correlation were shown between Fitbit Versa and both Jaeger Oxycon Pro and ActiGraph GT3X for estimated energy expenditure at all treadmill speeds. Estimations of heart rate demonstrated poor to fair agreement during laboratory-based treadmill walks. For step count, the wrist-worn devices showed fair agreement and fair correlation at most treadmill speeds. In free-living settings; however, the agreement for step count between the wrist-worn device and waist-worn accelerometer was good, and the correlation was excellent. Conclusions: The wrist-worn device systematically overestimated energy expenditure and showed poor agreement and correlation compared to the criterion standard (Jaeger Oxycon Pro) and the relative criterion standard (ActiGraph GT3X), which needs to be considered when used clinically. Step count measured with a wrist-worn device, however, seemed to be a valid estimation, suggesting that future guidelines could include such variables in this group with chronic pain.

  • Does an obesogenic family environment moderate the association between sports participation and body composition in children? The ENERGY project
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Pediatric Obesity. - : John Wiley & Sons. - 2047-6302 .- 2047-6310. ; 18:7
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Previous research on the association between sports participation and body composition has shown mixed findings. The family home is considered one of the most influential environments on childhood obesity. Thus, the association between sports participation and body composition in children may be influenced by an obesogenic home environment. Objectives: To investigate if an obesogenic family environment moderates the association between sports participation and body composition in children. Methods: A total of 3999 children (54% girls; 11.6 ± 0.7 years) and their parent(s) were included from the ENERGY project. A composite obesogenic family environment risk score was created from 10 questionnaire items. Height, weight (to calculate body mass index), and waist circumference were obtained by trained researchers and used as indicators of body composition. Results: The composite risk score significantly moderated the association between sports participation and both waist circumference and body mass index. In children from families with moderate and high obesogenic risk, organized sports participation was significantly associated with smaller waist circumference (moderate risk: −0.29, 95% CI −0.45 to −0.14; high risk: −0.46, 95% CI −0.66 to −0.25) and lower body mass index (moderate risk: −0.10, 95% CI −0.16 to −0.04; high risk: −0.14, 95% CI −0.22 to −0.06), but not in children with a low obesogenic family risk score. Conclusions: Enrolling children in sports activities from an early age can be important for healthy weight maintenance, especially among children from obesogenic family environments.

  • Nutritional status among older people : Risk factors and consequences of malnutrition
  • 2013
  • Licentiatavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Despite the high frequency and serious consequences of protein–energy malnutrition, prevention and treatment of malnutrition do not currently receive appropriate attention. Increased awareness of the importance of nutritional screening among older people is needed. The overall aim of this thesis was to extend our current knowledge about malnutrition and the consequences of a poor nutritional status in relation to preterm death, and to identify possible risk factors for developing malnutrition among older people. The aim of Paper I was to estimate the prevalence of malnutrition and to examine the associations between mealtime habits, meal provision, and malnutrition among older people admitted to a Swedish hospital. The aim of Paper II was to examine whether nutritional status, defined according to the three categories in the full Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA) instrument, is an independent predictor of preterm death in older people. The baseline survey was a cross-sectional study of 1771 patients aged ³65 years who were admitted to hospital. Nutritional status was assessed using the MNA instrument, and possible risk factors associated with malnutrition were recorded during the hospital stay (Paper I). Overall survival was followed up after 35–50 months in a cohort study of 1767 participants (Paper II).Of the 1771 participants, 35.5% were well-nourished, 55.1% were at risk of malnutrition, and 9.4% were malnourished at baseline. An overnight fast >11 hours was associated with risk of malnutrition (odds ratio (OR) 1.46; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.14–1.87) and being malnourished (OR 1.67; 95% CI 1.04–2.69). Fewer than four eating episodes a day was associated with both risk of malnutrition (OR 1.88, 95% CI 1.52–2.32) and being malnourished (OR 3.10; 95% CI 2.14–4.49). Not cooking independently was also associated with both risk of malnutrition (OR 1.9; 95% CI 1.30–2.93) and being malnourished (OR 5.04; 95% CI 2.95–8.61). At the 50-month follow-up, the survival rates were 75.2% for well-nourished participants, 60.0% for those at risk of malnutrition, and 33.7% for malnourished participants. After adjusting for confounders, the hazard ratios (95% CI) for all-cause mortality were 1.56 (1.18–2.07) in the group at risk of malnutrition and 3.71 (2.28–6.04) in the malnourished group. Nutritional status defined according to the three categories in the full MNA independently predicted preterm death in people aged 65 years and older. This thesis provides additional knowledge of the current nutritional situation among older people admitted to hospital. The high prevalence and serious consequences of malnutrition demonstrated in this thesis underline the importance of screening and taking actions to counteract malnutrition among older people. The data showing that the length of overnight fasting and number of eating episodes per day are possible risk factors for malnutrition are consistent with the current nutritional recommendations. This knowledge may stimulate care providers to decrease the length of overnight fasting and increase the number of eating episodes per day among older people at risk of malnutrition.

  • A Relic In Spe: Theodoret’s Depiction of a Philosopher Saint
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Studia Patristica LXVIII: Papers presented at the Sixteenth International Conference on Patristic Studies held in Oxford 2011. ; Vol. 16: From the Fifth Century Onwards (Greek Writers), s. 25-29
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The following article is an interpretation of a narrative in Theodoret of Cyrrhus’ collective biography about the history of the monks of Syria, the Philotheos historia. The most well-known saint of Theodoret’s own diocese was James of Cyrrhestica. His biography has a central place in the PH, but has not received as much attention as that of his name- sake James of Nisibis, or Symeon the Stylite. It is my intention to analyse this vita, and address specifically how the dual images of the ascetic as both a philosopher and a martyr are combined. Moreover, I hope to display how focus is shifted from the living saint to the dead saint. As the text was written, the saint was (supposedly) still very much alive, and deeply involved in the matters of the church. Still, I suggest that he is made a relic in spe, and thereby brought close to the cultic practices of the church in the city.

  • Monastic Space : The Ascetic Between Sacred and Civil Spheres in Theodoret of Cyrrhus
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Spaces in Late Antiquity : Cultural, Theological and Archaeological Perspectives. - 9781472450166
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Syrian monasticism has often been judged by its extremes, with Symeon the Stylite as the prime example of someone leaving the human world behind to reach for God. In this interpretation, hagiographical renderings seem only to underline an opposition between sacred and civil spheres, between the cells of the ascetics and human society. With this article, however, I wish to call such a conclusion into question with the help of one of the more well-known textual sources about Symeon and the other Syrian ascetics, Theodoret's Philotheos Historia (PH). My aim is to examine how different ascetic environments are displayed in the PH, to see if and how they are related to longstanding ideas and ideals about civilization. My concern is therefore not so much the historical places (or circumstances) of the ascetics as Theodoret's literary presentations of monastic space. In the end, I will suggest a "one-space-model", where I will argue that the different locations of ascetics are exhibited along a graded scale, which situates them differently between the poles of human and divine realms, and that there is room for moving in both directions. In fact, the evolution of the monastic movement in Syria is depicted as an ongoing civilization in the PH.

  • Sketching the Invisible : Patterns of Church and City in Theodoret of Cyrrhus' Philotheos Historia
  • 2012
  • Doktorsavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The fundamental question in this work concerns the ideal relation between asceticism and society in a 5th c. writing (C.E.), the Philotheos Historia (PH), written in elaborate Greek by the learned bishop of Cyrrhus, Theodoret. This collection of saints’ stories tells about the lives of a number of ascetics who lived in the Eastern part of the Roman Empire, many of them close to Antioch. As these narratives are analysed in this study, the story about the individual saint evokes philosophical and theological ideas and ideals of community. Generally, these stories are taken to represent both Hellenic and Christian points of view in a way that would make particular sense to a civic, educated audience. The depiction of the ascetic as a philosopher plays a crucial role in this interpretation. After an introductory survey of recent research on the PH and statements of purpose (Pt. 1), the relation between ascetic and society is approached from two angles: from the characters in Theodoret’s biographies (Pt. 2), and from the spatial environments depicted in the same narratives (Pt. 3). The starting point for all these chapters is a narrative analysis of a single life-story in the PH, which is then followed by a larger discussion on topics that are raised in the preceding analysis and that are related to the purpose. The characters that are studied first (ch. 2.2–2.5) include an eremite (James of Nisibis), an abbot (Eusebius of Teleda), an ideal believer with ascetic pretensions (Theodoret’s own mother), and a monk-bishop (Abraham of Carrhae). In each of these chapters a discourse that would make sense in a Late Antique setting is identified. A first discourse is called “sacralization”, designating a way of situating a character in a specific, sacred tradition, which in this case is the ecclesia ab Abel. Then is examined how the ascetic, and the Syrian monasteries, are situated in a discourse of “civilization”. Thirdly, a discourse of “christianization” is traced, in which an individual member of the elite is displayed in a privileged Christian setting. Finally, the way the church, led by the bishop, brings forth the secret of the saints for the benefit of society is termed a discourse of “ecclesiastization”. These discourses, and the mediating role of the church, are topics also in the following chapters (3.2–3.4), in which the presentation of different environments is examined, the cells of the ascetics, the city, and the space in-between. Here is displayed how these spaces are deeply interrelated, and how they were part of a contemporary debate about the sanctity of space. In the Conclusion (Pt. 4), a narrative analysis of the most well-known saint of the PH, Symeon the Stylite is pursued, and related to the previous discussions and discourses. A final word is said about how the ascetic, in the narrative framework of the PH, often resembles a passive object, like a relic or a holy image, and becomes a powerful symbol both of the church and of the city.

  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Studia Theologica - Nordic Journal of Theology. - 1502-7791. ; 74:1, s. 94-129
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In the field of church history, this article is a study of the Reformation period on a specific topic, namely, asceticism, from an uncommon perspective. One of the most well-known Reformation treatises, Martin Luther’s On the Freedom of a Christian, is read in conversation with an earlier ascetic wri¬ting, Maximus Confessor’s The Ascetic Life, and then compared to an under¬stu¬died debate from the late 16th c. between the Lutheran Tübingen theologians and the patriarch of Constantinople, Jeremiah II. This textually based study is concerned both with the methodological problems that characterize the politics of comparison and with the present debates surrounding ascetism. In the end it is argued that asceticism is not only a theologically valid topic of study in a Lutheran setting, but also historically relevant. Based on a distinction between spiritual and physical exercise, I argue that there is a social dimension to be rediscovered if inner dimensions of ‘piety’ are reconnected with embodied, visible and communal practices in the context of the counter-culture that is the Christian church.

  • The Monastic Paradox : Desert Ascetics as Founders, Fathers, and Benefactors in Early Christian Historiography

  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This is a study of three literary sources from the late fourth and early fifth centuries CE that depict the rise of monasticism, the anonymous History of the Monks of Egypt, the History of the Monks of Syria by Theodoret of Cyrrhus, and Sozomen's Church History. Although each of these texts conveys what Peter Brown has termed the "myth of the desert," i.e. a portrayal of monks as being part of another world, I argue that the same texts also reflect a "myth of the city," in which the monastic movement is depicted as a civic institution with regard to its foundation, regulation, and influence in the world. What these texts reflect is an attempt from the side of Christian authors to make sense of the multifaceted phenomenon that was monasticism, creating a conceptual space where different ascetic expressions come together as one, as 'monasticism' or as a desert city.

  • Tidskriftsartikel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • In a word play, the article is titled Revealing (or Evident) Secrets: Cloth and Theology in Early Christian and Contemporary Orthodox Practice. Building on a lecture celebrating the recent appointment to docent, the article proceeds from an introductory reflection on human dress, with the help of Roland Barthes and others, to a scrutiny of a hymn by the late antique Syriac poet-theologian Ephrem the Syrian, in which God dresses and undresses in a play between divine and human, which is interpreted in a ritual framework. In the second part, the investigation moves from past to present, and a liturgical setting which employs the sources just consid-ered, namely a couple of Syriac Orthodox congregations in contemporary Sweden. In light of theories on integration and tradition, changes in liturgical attire are considered, with specific attention to gender and the question of women deacons.

  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Not long ago the rise of monasticism was taken to be the creation of a Sonderwelt – an idea which also seemed to be reflected in the ancient literary material: the desert became a city of its own. However, a contradiction between city and monastery is often bridged by the very literature that created the rift, because texts travelled both ways – just as people did. In the context of this short contribution, we shall observe how one of the key sources about the monastic movement, Theodoret of Cyrrhus’ History of the Monks of Syria (Philotheos Historia), to a high degree concerns the fate of one of the largest metropoleis of the ancient world, Antioch. In the end, I will suggest a relatively simple but bold hypothesis, namely that Theodoret of Cyrrhus (393-466 AD), in his portrayal of an otherwise unknown ascetic, Macedonius, is actually playing around with civic legends related to Antioch, a city of Macedonian origin.

  • Acute exercise as active inference in chronic musculoskeletal pain, effects on gait kinematics and muscular activity in patients and healthy participants : a study protocol for a randomised controlled laboratory trial
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: BMJ Open. - : BMJ. - 2044-6055. ; 13
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Introduction: Chronic musculoskeletal pain is a highly prevalent, complex and distressing condition that may negatively affect all domains of life. In view of an active inference framework, and resting on the concept of allostasis, human movement per se becomes a prerequisite for health and well-being while chronic pain becomes a sign of a system unable to attenuate an allostatic load. Previous studies on different subgroups of chronic pain conditions have demonstrated alterations in gait kinematics and muscle activity, indicating shared disturbances in the motor system from long-term allostatic load. We hypothesise that such alterations exist in heterogenous populations with chronic musculoskeletal pain, and that exposure to acute and controlled exercise may attenuate these alterations. Therefore, the main aim of this study is to investigate the acute effects of exercise on gait kinematics and activity of the back and neck muscles during diverse walking conditions in patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain compared with a reference sample consisting of healthy participants. Methods and analysis: This two-sample two-armed parallel randomised controlled laboratory trial will include 40 participants with chronic musculoskeletal pain (>3 months) and 40 healthy participants. Participants will be randomly allocated to either 30 min of aerobic exercise or rest. Primary outcomes are gait kinematics (walking speed, step frequency, stride length, lumbar rotation, gait stability) and muscular activity (spatial and temporal) of the back and neck during diverse walking conditions. Secondary outcomes are variability of gait kinematics and muscle activity and subjective pain ratings assessed regularly during the trial.Ethics and dissemination: The study has been approved by the Regional Ethics Review Board in Uppsala, Sweden (#2018/307). Findings will be disseminated via conference presentations, publications in peer-reviewed journals and engagement with patient support groups and clinicians.

  • Wisdom on the Move : Late Antique Traditions in Multicultural Conversation. Essays in Honor of Samuel Rubenson
  • 2020
  • Samlingsverk (redaktörskap) (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Wisdom on the Move explores the complexity and flexibility of wisdom traditions in Late Antiquity and beyond. This book studies how sayings, maxims and expressions of spiritual insight travelled across linguistic and cultural borders, between different religions and milieus, and how this multicultural process reshaped these sayings and anecdotes. Wisdom on the Move takes the reader on a journey through late antique religious traditions, from manuscript fragments and folios via the monastic cradle of Egypt, across linguistic and cultural barriers, through Jewish and Biblical wisdom, monastic sayings, and Muslim interpretations. Particular attention is paid to the monastic Apophthegmata Patrum, arguably the most important genre of wisdom literature in the early Christian world.
