  • ‘Customer Satisfaction’, Loyalty and ‘Adoption’ of E-Banking Technology in Mauritius
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Embedded Systems and Artificial Intelligence. - Singapore : Springer Nature. ; , s. 861-873
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Small Island, Mauritius is adopting drastic changes with reference to technology. The prime focus of extant study is exploratory in nature and trying to examine the relationship between the factors that are inspiring Mauritian consumers and customers to go with technology and technological advances that are user friendly. E-banking services are one among them. Also, try to test which of the dimensions has the strongest potential in influencing ‘e-customer’. This study focuses mainly on perception of the customer, e-banking adoption motif, ‘e-banking satisfaction’ and ‘quality’ of ‘e-banking services’ in Mauritius. Primary data is collected with the help of drop-off survey and were statistically analysed with the help of Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) and ordered probit and logit regressions. The empirical evidences of this study reveals, reliability, responsiveness, secured transaction, comfort, efficiency, dependence and ease-of-use has a striking impact on the ‘customer satisfaction’ and e-loyalty. With these findings, for Mauritian content, ‘electronic banking’ would be indispensable ‘banking service’ that can be, provided, well executed to improve ‘e-customer satisfaction’ and ‘e-customer loyalty’ to sustain goodwill of the e-banking customers. Relative importance and service quality of e-banking technology at Maurtius would support the banking industry to motivate the customers.

  • Cosmological Fast Optical Transients with the Zwicky Transient Facility : A Search for Dirty Fireballs
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Astrophysical Journal. - : American Astronomical Society. - 0004-637X .- 1538-4357. ; 938:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Dirty fireballs are a hypothesized class of relativistic massive-star explosions with an initial Lorentz factor Γinit below the Γinit ∼ 100 required to produce a long-duration gamma-ray burst (LGRB), but which could still produce optical emission resembling LGRB afterglows. Here we present the results of a search for on-axis optical afterglows using the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF). Our search yielded seven optical transients that resemble on-axis LGRB afterglows in terms of their red colors (g − r > 0 mag), faint host galaxies (r > 23 mag), rapid fading (dr/dt > 1 mag day−1), and in some cases X-ray and radio emission. Spectroscopy of the transient emission within a few days of discovery established cosmological distances (redshift z = 0.876 to 2.9) for six of the seven events, tripling the number of afterglows with redshift measurements discovered by optical surveys without a γ-ray trigger. A likely associated LGRB (GRB 200524A, GRB 210204A, GRB 210212B, and GRB 210610B) was identified for four events (ZTF 20abbiixp/AT 2020kym, ZTF 21aagwbjr/AT 2021buv, ZTF 21aakruew/AT 2021cwd, and ZTF 21abfmpwn/AT 2021qbd) post facto, while three (ZTF 20aajnksq/AT 2020blt, ZTF 21aaeyldq/AT 2021any, and ZTF 21aayokph/AT 2021lfa) had no detected LGRB counterpart. The simplest explanation for the three "orphan" events is that they were regular LGRBs missed by high-energy satellites owing to detector sensitivity and duty cycle, although it is possible that they were intrinsically subluminous in γ-rays or viewed slightly off-axis. We rule out a scenario in which dirty fireballs have a similar energy per solid angle to LGRBs and are an order of magnitude more common. In addition, we set the first direct constraint on the ratio of the opening angles of the material producing γ-rays and the material producing early optical afterglow emission, finding that they must be comparable.

  • Autobiographical Memory : Depending on sensory retrieval cue and gender
  • 2019
  • Doktorsavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • In my thesis I raised two questions: Does autobiographical memory differ i) depending on the sensory retrieval cue (Study I and II)? and ii) depending on gender (Study III)?Concerning retrieval cues, three unimodal cues (i.e., photographs, naturalistic sounds and odors) and one multimodal cue (i.e., the three unimodal cues presented simultaneously) were used to evoke autobiographical memories. The results demonstrated that the memories differed depending on retrieval cue. In particular, the olfactory-cued memories differed in semantic content and were from an earlier age in contrast to the other modalities. The visually and auditory-evoked memories differed less than expected in their semantic content and age distribution in relation to the multimodal condition. The multimodally cued memories could be described as being a combination of the three unimodalities, as illustrated by the semantic content and age distribution, though they were more similar to the visually and auditory-cued memories than to the olfactory-cued memories. One possible explanation for these results could be that we attend more to visual and auditory perceptions than to olfactory. With regard to gender, previous research has found gender differences in the manifest content (i.e., the actual words used) of autobiographical memories. However, to my knowledge none has investigated gender differences in the latent content (i.e., the underlying meaning in the expressed words). The results indicated that there was no difference between the genders in the manifest content. However, the females latently described their memories in more communal terms than males did, which supports the assumption that females are more communally oriented than are males.

  • Subjective health, physical activity, body image and school wellbeing among adolescents in south of Sweden
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Nursing Reports. - 2039-439X .- 2039-4403. ; 11:4, s. 811-822
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This study aimed to investigate subjective health and its associations with perceived body image (body appearance and body functioning), physical activity, perceived wellbeing in school, perceived family financial situation, and body mass index among 13- to 15-year-old boys and girls. The study was a cross-sectional study performed in four municipalities in Southern Sweden. Data were obtained from questionnaires completed by adolescents (median age 14; range: 13–15) in Sweden (n = 1518, 51% girls), with a participation rate of 73%. Body weight and body height were measured by school nurses and body mass index was calculated. Logistic regression analyses were carried out with subjective health as the dependent variable. Independent variables included in the model were perceived wellbeing in school, perceived family financial situation, perceived body image, physical activity, body mass index, sex, and residency. Variables significantly associated with good subjective health were good wellbeing in school, a perceived good family financial situation, perceived positive body appearance, perceived positive body functioning, being a boy, and high physical activity. Residency and body mass index were not associated with subjective health. Good subjective health is associated with good wellbeing in school, good family financial situation, positive body image, and high physical activity levels. The results highlight the importance of good school climates, the promotion of positive body image, and increased physical activity for adolescents.
