  • Tests of CP symmetry in entangled Ξ0- (Ξ)over-bar0 pairs
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Physical Review D. - : American Physical Society. - 2470-0010 .- 2470-0029. ; 108:3
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The J/psi -> Xi(0)(Xi) over bar (0) process and subsequent decays are investigated using (10087 +/- 44) x 10(6) J/psi events collected at the BESIII experiment. The decay parameters of Xi(0) and (Xi) over bar (0) are simultaneously measured to be alpha(Xi) = -0.3750 +/- 0.0034 +/- 0.0016, (alpha) over bar (Xi) = 0.3790 +/- 0.0034 +/- 0.0021, phi(Xi) = 0.0051 +/- 0.0096 +/- 0.0018 rad, (phi) over bar (Xi) = -0.0053 +/- 0.0097 +/- 0.0019 rad with unprecedented accuracies, where the first and the second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The most precise values for CP asymmetry observables of Xi(0) decay are obtained to be A(CP)(Xi) = (-5.4 +/- 6.5 +/- 3.1) x 10(-3) and Delta phi(Xi)(CP) = (-0.1 +/- 6.9 +/- 0.9) x 10(-3) rad. For the first time, the weak and strong phase differences are determined to be xi(P) - xi(S) = (0.0 +/- 1.7 +/- 0.2) x 10(-2) rad and delta(P) - delta(S) = (-1.3 +/- 1.7 +/- 0.4) x 10(-2) rad, which are the most precise results for any weakly decaying baryon. These results will play important roles in the studies of the CP violations and polarizations for the strange, charmed, and beauty baryons.

  • Updated measurement of the branching fraction of Ds+→ τ+ντ via τ„+→†’ π€+ν‾τ
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Physical Review D. - : American Physical Society. - 2470-0010 .- 2470-0029. ; 108:9
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper reports the study of D+s→τ+ν via τ+→π+¯ντ using a boosted decision tree method, with 7.33  fb−1 of e+e− collision data collected by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV. The branching fraction of D+s→τ+ντ is determined to be (5.44±0.17stat±0.13syst)%. The product of the D+s decay constant fD+s and the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |Vcs| is fD+s|Vcs|=(248.3±3.9stat±3.1syst±1.0input)  MeV. Combining with the |Vcs| value obtained from the Standard Model global fit or the fD+s from the lattice quantum chromodynamics, we determine |Vcs|=0.993±0.015stat±0.012syst±0.004input and fD+s=(255.0±4.0stat±3.2syst±1.0input)  MeV. The first uncertainty is statistical, the second one is systematic and the third one is due to the input parameters, mainly the lifetime of D+s. All results obtained in this work supersede the BESIII previous results based on 6.32  fb−1 of e+e− collision data taken at center-of-mass energies between 4.178 and 4.226 GeV.

  • Updated measurements of the M1 transition ψ(3686)→γηc(2S) with ηc(2S)→KK¯π
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: Physical Review D. - : American Physical Society. - 2470-0010 .- 2470-0029. ; 109:3
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Based on a data sample of (2712.4±14.3)×106ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, the M1 transition ψ(3686)→γηc(2S) with ηc(2S)→K¯Kπ is studied, where K¯Kπ is K+K−π0 or K0SK±π∓. The mass and width of the ηc(2S) are measured to be (3637.8±0.8(stat)±0.2(syst))  MeV/c2 and (10.5±1.7(stat)±3.5(syst))  MeV, respectively. The product branching fraction B(ψ(3686)→γηc(2S))×B(ηc(2S)→K¯Kπ)  is determined to be (0.97±0.06(stat)±0.09(syst))×10−5. Using B(ηc(2S)→K¯Kπ)=(1.86+0.68−0.49)%, we obtain the branching fraction of the radiative transition to be B(ψ(3686)→γηc(2S))=(5.2±0.3(stat)±0.5(syst)+1.9−1.4(extr))×10−4, where the third uncertainty is due to the quoted B(ηc(2S)→K¯Kπ).

  • Performance of Swedish Warmblood fragile foal syndrome carriers and breeding prospects
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Genetics Selection Evolution. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0999-193X .- 1297-9686. ; 54
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background Warmblood fragile foal syndrome (WFFS) is a monogenetic defect caused by a recessive lethal missense point mutation in the procollagen-lysine, 2-oxoglutarate 5-dioxygenase 1 gene (PLOD1, c.2032G>A). The majority of homozygous WFFS horses are aborted during gestation. Clinical signs of affected horses include fragile skin, skin and mucosa lacerations, hyperextension of the articulations, and hematomas. In spite of its harmful effect, a relatively high frequency of WFFS carriers has been found in Warmblood horses, suggesting a heterozygote advantage. Thus, in this study our aims were to: (1) estimate the frequency of WFFS carriers in the Swedish Warmblood breed (SWB), (2) estimate the effect of WFFS carrier genotype on performance traits in two SWB subpopulations bred for different disciplines, and (3) simulate the potential effects of balancing selection and different selection strategies on the frequency of carriers. Methods In total, 2288 SWB sport horses born between 1971 and 2020 were tested for the WFFS mutation and had estimated breeding values (EBV) for ten traditional evaluating and 50 linear descriptive traits. Results The frequency of WFFS carriers calculated from a pool of 511 randomly selected SWB horses born in 2017 was equal to 7.4% and ranged from 0.0 to 12.0% among the whole set of tested SWB horses, starting from 1971 till 2020. The effect of the WFFS carrier genotype was significant for several EBV mainly related to movements and dressage traits and especially for horses not bred for the show jumping discipline. Using simulation, we showed that balancing selection can maintain a recessive lethal allele in populations such as the SWB breed over generations and that the frequency is expected to slowly decrease in absence of balancing selection. Finally, we showed that selection against carrier sires can result in a more rapid decrease of the frequency of the mutant allele over time. Conclusion Further research is needed to confirm the apparent association between equine performance and the WFFS carrier genotype. Identification of such associations or new causative mutations for horse performance traits can serve as new tools in horse breeding to select for healthy, sustainable, and better performing horses.

  • ROLE OF TYROSINE RESIDUE-264 OF RECA FOR THE BINDING OF COFACTOR AND DNA
  • 1993
  • Ingår i: Journal of Biological Chemistry. - 0021-9258 .- 1083-351X. ; 268:3, s. 1811-1816
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The tyrosine fluorescence of the RecA protein is quenched by about 15% upon binding of the cofactor analog adenosine 5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) (ATPgammaS). This quenching is not observed with a modified RecA in which the tyrosine residue at position 264 (Tyr-264) is replaced for alanine by site-directed mutagenesis, a modification which also results in a decrease of binding affinity of cofactor. This indicates that Tyr-264 is responsible for the fluorescence change and that the residue is close to or within the cofactor binding site. Upon DNA binding, a change of tyrosine fluorescence is observed both with the modified protein and with wild type RecA, indicating that DNA binding affects the environment of other tyrosine residues than Tyr-264. However, the change is significantly smaller in the modified protein, suggesting that both Tyr-264 as well as other residue(s) may be affected by the DNA binding. Changed fluorescence properties of the remaining tyrosine residues as a result of a slightly different DNA binding mode of the modified protein are also possible. Tyr-264 may be an important residue for the allosteric effect induced by the cofactor for the binding of DNA to RecA. In the recent crystal structure of RecA-ADP published by Story and Steitz (Story, R. M., and Steitz, T. A. (1992) Nature 355, 374-376), ADP is stacked with Tyr-103 and does not interact with Tyr-264. The fact that we observe no interaction of ATPgammaS with Tyr-103 (as evidenced from absence of fluorescence change) but instead with Tyr-264 may suggest an important conformational difference between the RecA complexes with, respectively, ADP and ATP.

  • Observation of Confined Current Ribbon in JET Plasmas
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Physical Review Letters. - 0031-9007 .- 1079-7114. ; 104:18, s. 185003-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We report the identification of a localized current structure inside the JET plasma. It is a field-aligned closed helical ribbon, carrying current in the same direction as the background current profile (cocurrent), rotating toroidally with the ion velocity (corotating). It appears to be located at a flat spot in the plasma pressure profile, at the top of the pedestal. The structure appears spontaneously in low density, high rotation plasmas, and can last up to 1.4 s, a time comparable to a local resistive time. It considerably delays the appearance of the first edge localized mode.
