  • Knowledge Sources for Evidence-Based Practice in Rheumatology Nursing.
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Clinical Nursing Research. - : Sage Publications. - 1054-7738 .- 1552-3799. ; 24:6, s. 661-679
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • As rheumatology nursing develops and extends, knowledge about current use of knowledge in rheumatology nursing practice may guide discussions about future knowledge needs. To explore what perceptions rheumatology nurses have about their knowledge sources and about what knowledge they use in their practice, 12 nurses working in specialist rheumatology were interviewed using a semi-structured interview guide. The data were analyzed using conventional qualitative content analysis. The analysis yielded four types of knowledge sources in clinical practice: interaction with others in the workplace, contacts outside the workplace, written materials, and previous knowledge and experience. Colleagues, and physicians in particular, were important for informal learning in daily rheumatology practice. Evidence from the medical arena was accessed through medical specialists, while nursing research was used less. Facilitating informal learning and continuing formal education is proposed as a way toward a more evidence-based practice in extended roles.

  • Out of southern East Asia : the natural history of domestic dogs across the world
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Cell Research. - : Nature Publishing Group. - 1001-0602 .- 1748-7838. ; 26:1, s. 21-33
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The origin and evolution of the domestic dog remains a controversial question for the scientific community, with basic aspects such as the place and date of origin, and the number of times dogs were domesticated, open to dispute. Using whole genome sequences from a total of 58 canids (12 gray wolves, 27 primitive dogs from Asia and Africa, and a collection of 19 diverse breeds from across the world), we find that dogs from southern East Asia have significantly higher genetic diversity compared to other populations, and are the most basal group relating to gray wolves, indicating an ancient origin of domestic dogs in southern East Asia 33 000 years ago. Around 15 000 years ago, a subset of ancestral dogs started migrating to the Middle East, Africa and Europe, arriving in Europe at about 10 000 years ago. One of the out of Asia lineages also migrated back to the east, creating a series of admixed populations with the endemic Asian lineages in northern China before migrating to the New World. For the first time, our study unravels an extraordinary journey that the domestic dog has traveled on earth.

  • The role of environmental requirements in Swedish public procurement of bus transports
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Sustainable Transportation. - : Informa UK Limited. - 1556-8318 .- 1556-8334. ; 16:5, s. 391-405
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The transport sector needs to become sustainable and public transport has an important role to play. Green public procurement has proven to have great potential to influence the transition to a sustainable public transport sector. Sweden is a good example of a country that uses public procurement in the public transport sector to a large extent and has at the same time come far in the transition to renewable fuel. The aim of this study is to examine what role public transport authorities (PTAs) can have in supporting more environmentally sustainable public transport through public procurement. This was done by a content analysis regarding the expressions of environmental requirements historically, over a ten-year period, in tender documents in Sweden, followed by a workshop where the implications of the findings and future tender processes were discussed with relevant actors. The results showed that all the environmental requirements have become stricter during the studied period, but indicate a tendency for higher use of environmental requirements in tendering of larger areas as well as in tendering of public transport within cities. Specifically, for requirements for fuel, the same tenders also use specific requirements to a higher extent. However, the subsequent workshop discussions indicated that the use of specific requirements is one reason for disagreement among involved actors. Overall, this study of the Swedish public transport case showed that PTAs have a large potential to support more environmentally sustainable solutions using environmental requirements in public procurement.

  • Examining the clinical utility of lacosamide: pooled analyses of three phase II/III clinical trials.
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: CNS drugs. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1172-7047. ; 24:12, s. 1041-54
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Lacosamide is an antiepileptic drug (AED) approved for the adjunctive treatment of partial-onset seizures in adults. Completed phase II/III clinical trials of lacosamide provide a valuable opportunity to evaluate clinically relevant aspects of the resulting large patient pool.

  • Wicked Problems of Smart Cities
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Smart Cities. - : MDPI. - 2624-6511. ; 2:4, s. 512-521
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • It is often uncritically assumed that, when digital technologies are integrated into the operation of city functions, they inevitably contribute to sustainable urban development. Such a notion rests largely on the belief that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions pave the way for more democratic forms of planning, and that ‘smart’ technological devices result in a range of environmental benefits, e.g., energy efficiency and the mitigation of global warming. Drawing on the scientific literature that deals with ‘smart cities’, we here elaborate on how both propositions fail to consider drawbacks that could be characterized as ‘wicked’, i.e., problems that lack simplistic solutions and straightforward planning responses, and which often come about as ‘management surprises’, as a byproduct of achieving sustainability. We here deal with problems related to public choice constraints, ‘non-choice default technologies’ and the costs of automation for human learning and resilience. To avoid undemocratic forms of planning and too strong a dependence on non-choice default technologies, e.g., smart phones, we recommend that planners and policy makers safeguard redundancy in public-choice options by maintaining a wide range of alternative choices, including analog ones. Resilience thinking could help planners deal more effectively with the ‘wickedness’ of an increasingly hyper-connected society.

  • Simplified Kinetic Model for NH3‑SCR Over Cu‑CHA Based on First‑Principles Calculations
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Topics in Catalysis. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1572-9028 .- 1022-5528. ; 66:13-14, s. 743-749
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Selective catalytic reduction with ammonia as reducing agent (NH3-SCR) is an efficient technology to control NOx emission during oxygen excess. Catalysts based on Cu-chabazite (Cu-CHA) have shown good performance for NH3-SCR with high activity and selectivity at low temperature and good hydrothermal stability. Here, we explore a first-principles based kinetic model to analyze in detail which reaction steps that control the selectivity for N2 and the light-off temperature. Moreover, a simplified kinetic model is developed by fitting lumped kinetic parameters to the full model. The simplified model describes the reaction with high accuracy using only five reaction steps. The present work provides insight into the governing reaction mechanism and stimulates design of knowledge-based Cu-CHA catalysts for NH3-SCR.
