  • On the Relationship between Functional Size and Software Code Size
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: International Workshop on Emerging Trends in Software Metrics (WETSoM 2010), May 4, 2010, Cape Town, South Africa.. - New York, NY, USA : ACM. - 0270-5257. - 9781605589763 ; , s. 47-52
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • SLOC (Source Lines-Of-Code) has been used extensively as a Code Size Measure, and as input to parametric software cost and effort estimation tools. SLOC is obtained by measuring FP (Function Points) on the requirements and multiplying by the SLOC/FP ratio from similar projects. This is done even though several studies show large variations in this ratio, due to weak correlation between FP and SLOC. However, in our previous experiments we have obtained strong correlation between CFP (COSMIC Function Points) and Bytes compiled code as Code Size Measure. The experiments were conducted in the automotive industry using software components developed by GM (General Motors). In this paper we explain the reasons behind the strong correlation. The main reasons are that we apply the COSMIC method on software components of similar type, with a 1-to-1 mapping to COSMIC. A strong correlation between the Functional Size Measure and the Code Size Measure is required to obtain accurate Code Size estimation results. To estimate the Code Size before the software is available, is important both for Cost/Effort estimation and design of electronic hardware.

  • Digital twin for Norvik Port in Sweden : A focus on modern pavement management
  • Annan publikation (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The importance of pavement maintenance to achieve sustainability and efficiency goals of transportation infrastructure is often overlooked. Neglecting maintenance for critical infrastructure can lead to major downtimes for ad-hoc reparations and higher resource and energy expenditure for both the infrastructure and the value chain it supports. The present article develops a framework for pavement maintenance in Norvik port, Sweden, which aims to extend pavement lifespan by preventing local overloading and improving systemic decision-making. The framework explores the different components and provides guidance on the systems to collect information in Norvik. Once the information is collected, the framework revisits the decision-making process and available tools. By treating pavement distresses before they require large interventions, the framework focuses on a predictive approach to manage the pavement and enhance the system’s sustainability as a whole. Initial results for the analysis of the Norvik port are presented, where the future performance of the different pavement structures in the port is predicted. The framework identifies critical areas in Norvik port that are most susceptible to damage, points the way toward where detailed analysis will be of large value, and lays a basis for future scenario analysis with a dynamic analysis of the logistics simulation model.

  • Capacity Bounds for AF Dual-hop Relaying in G Fading Channels
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology. - 0018-9545 .- 1939-9359. ; 61:4, s. 1730-1740
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We investigate the ergodic capacity of amplify-and-forward (AF) dual-hop relaying systems in composite Nakagami-m/inverse-Gaussian fading channels. This type of fading, which is known in the literature as G fading, has recently attracted increasing research interest due to its ability to better approximate the Nakagami-m/lognormal model, compared with the Nakagami-m/gamma model. We study both fixed-and variable-gain relaying systems and present analytical upper and lower bounds for the ergodic capacity of dual-hop relaying systems with not necessarily identical hops; these bounds provide an efficient means to evaluate the ergodic capacity of AF dual-hop relaying systems over G fading channels. We also establish sufficient conditions for the existence of the bounds, depending on the values of the fading parameters. In both cases, our simulation results demonstrate that the proposed upper and lower bounds remain relatively tight for different fading conditions.

  • Implementation of Buy-Back Programs
  • Annan publikation (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • This paper documents how Swedish firms implemented and executed open-market sharerepurchases over the period 2000 to 2007 by using a unique hand-collected data set withdetailed information of each repurchase transaction. I find that my sample firms have a higherrepurchase fraction in the first half of the repurchase year. Analysis of liquidity of stocksoffers mixed results as the first proxy, turnover, improves in the second half of the program, whereas the Amihud measure of illiquidity indicates lower liquidity. Positive abnormalreturns following approval of the repurchase program is documented and large repurchaseprograms are associated with higher abnormal returns. My multivariate analysis indicates apositive correlation between abnormal return and repurchase size. Finally, I also find thatmanagers in repurchasing firms exhibit market timing skill, a skill which is more pronouncedfor firms with multiple programs.

  • Effects of changes in isotopic baselines on the evaluation of food web structure using isotopic functional indices
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: PeerJ. - : PeerJ. - 2167-8359. ; 8
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background. This study aimed to assess whether ecological inferences from isotopic functional indices (IFIs) are impacted by changes in isotopic baselines in aquatic food webs. We used sudden CO2-outgassing and associated shifts in DIC- delta C-13 brought by waterfalls as an excellent natural experimental set-up to quantify impacts of changes in algal isotopic baselines on ecological inferences from IFIs.Methods. Carbon (delta C-13) and nitrogen (delta N-15) stable isotopic ratios of invertebrate communities sharing similar structure were measured at above- and below-waterfall sampling sites from five rivers and streams in Southern Quebec (Canada). For each sampled invertebrate community, the six Laymans IFIs were then calculated in the delta-space (delta C-13 vs. delta N-15).Results. As expected, isotopic functional richness indices, measuring the overall extent of community trophic space, were strongly sensitive to changes in isotopic baselines unlike other IFIs. Indeed, other IFIs were calculated based on the distribution of species within delta-space and were not strongly impacted by changes in the vertical or horizontal distribution of specimens in the delta-space. Our results highlighted that IFIs exhibited different sensitivities to changes in isotopic baselines, leading to potential misinterpretations of IFIs in river studies where isotopic baselines generally show high temporal and spatial variabilities. The identification of isotopic baselines and their associated variability, and the use of independent trophic tracers to identify the actual energy pathways through food webs must be a prerequisite to IFIs-based studies to strengthen the reliability of ecological inferences of food web structural properties.

  • Effects of temperature on food isotopic integrity and trophic fractionation in Chironomus riparius in laboratory experiments
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Hydrobiologia. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0018-8158 .- 1573-5117. ; 847, s. 1257-1267
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Our experimental study was designed to assess the effects of temperature on food isotopic integrity and trophic fractionations (of carbon and nitrogen stable isotopes: Delta C-13 and Delta N-15) in chironomid larvae. A laboratory experiment was run using Chironomus riparius larvae at 15, 18 and 23 degrees C, and under three pulverized food resources. There were significant changes in the stable isotopic composition of the uneaten food, revealing the difficulty of preventing food microbial degradation in rearing experiments. C/N ratios of chironomid larvae were also affected by temperature, regardless of the food resource, suggesting changes in lipid contents and associated effects on the larval delta C-13 values. Therefore, differences in calculation methods (with vs. without lipid normalizations, fresh vs. old food isotopic baselines) induced large variability in Delta C-13 and Delta N-15 values, but our trophic fractionation estimates were similar to those previously reported in literature. Therefore, we conclude that temperature is not a major driver of the variability in trophic fractionations for chironomid larvae, and stable isotope composition of aquatic consumers can be used in food webs studies under changing temperature conditions. Variability in trophic fractionation estimates should, however, be considered to avoid misinterpretations of food web structure.

  • Anthropological Explorations in Queer Theory
  • 2014
  • Bok (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The book many of us have been waiting for somebody to write: anthropology meets contemporary theory, with summaries and overviews ranging from Lacan to process philosophy and more. Anthropological Explorations in Queer Theory is helpful for researchers wanting to update themselves, and also for classroom use. Ethnographic discussion of exciting themes such as perfume and species thinking weave in with contributions to current debate, including an excellent critique of intersectionality.
