  • ECCO Topical Review Optimising Reporting in Surgery, Endoscopy, and Histopathology Collaboration Between S-ECCO, EduCom, H-ECCO
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Journal of Crohn's & Colitis. - : OXFORD UNIV PRESS. - 1873-9946 .- 1876-4479. ; 15:7, s. 1089-1105
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background and Aims: Diagnosis and management of inflammatory bowel diseases [IBD] requires a lifelong multidisciplinary approach. The quality of medical reporting is crucial in this context. The present topical review addresses the need for optimised reporting in endoscopy, surgery, and histopathology. Methods: A consensus expert panel consisting of gastroenterologists, surgeons, and pathologists, convened by the European Crohns and Colitis Organisation, performed a systematic literature review. The following topics were covered: in endoscopy: [i] general IBD endoscopy; [ii] disease activity and surveillance; [iii] endoscopy treatment in IBD; in surgery: [iv] medical history with surgical relevance, surgical indication, and strategy; [v] operative approach; [vi] intraoperative disease description; [vii] operative steps; in pathology: [viii] macroscopic assessment and interpretation of resection specimens; [ix] IBD histology, including biopsies, surgical resections, and neoplasia; [x] IBD histology conclusion and report. Statements were developed using a Delphi methodology incorporating two consecutive rounds. Current practice positions were set when >= 80% of participants agreed on a recommendation. Results: Thirty practice positions established a standard terminology for optimal reporting in endoscopy, surgery, and histopathology. Assessment of disease activity, surveillance recommendations, advice to surgeons for operative indication and strategies, including margins and extent of resection, and diagnostic criteria of IBD, as well as guidance for the interpretation of dysplasia and cancer, were handled. A standardised report including a core set of items to include in each specialty report, was defined. Conclusions: Interdisciplinary high-quality care requires thorough and standardised reporting across specialties. This topical review offers an actionable framework and practice recommendations to optimise reporting in endoscopy, surgery, and histopathology.

  • Modification of electron transfer properties in photoelectrochemical solar cells by substituting {Ru(terpy)(2)}(2+) dyes with thiophene
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Inorganic Chemistry Communications. - : Elsevier BV. - 1387-7003 .- 1879-0259. ; 7:1, s. 117-121
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A comparison of the properties of the 2-thienyl-substituted carboxyphenyl {RuII(terpy)2} dyes with their non-substituted analogues has enabled us to gain insight into the electronic properties that are prerequisite for efficient electron injection into the TiO2 conduction band in photoelectrochemical solar cells. Introducing the thienyl group has a profound effect upon the efficiency of photoinduced electron injection. This effect can be explained by a significant shift in the LUMO position from the terpy ligand anchored on the TiO2 surface towards the 2-thienyl substituted ligand, which is shown by means of electrochemistry and semiempirical calculations.

  • A synthesis of AOT40-based response functions and critical levels of ozone for agricultural and horticultural crops
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Atmospheric Environment. - : Elsevier BV. - 1352-2310. ; 41:12, s. 2630-2643
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Crop-response data from over 700 published papers and conference proceedings have been analysed with the aim of establishing ozone dose-response functions for a wide range of European agricultural and horticultural crops. Data that met rigorous selection criteria (e.g. field-based, ozone concentrations within European range, full season exposure period) were used to derive AOT40-yield response functions for 19 crops by first converting the published ozone concentration data into AOT40 (AOT40 is the hourly mean ozone concentration accumulated over a threshold ozone concentration of 40ppb during daylight hours, units ppmh). For any individual crop, there were no significant differences in the linear response functions derived for experiments conducted in the USA or Europe, or for individual cultivars. Three statistically independent groups were identified: ozone sensitive crops (wheat, water melon, pulses, cotton, turnip, tomato, onion, soybean and lettuce); moderately sensitive crops (sugar beet, potato, oilseed rape, tobacco, rice, maize, grape and broccoli) and ozone resistant (barley and fruit represented by plum and strawberry). Critical levels of a 3 month AOT40 of 3 ppm It and a 3.5 month AOT40 of 6ppm h were derived from the functions for wheat and tomato, respectively. (c) 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

  • Effects of monetary investment, payback time and firm characteristics on electricity saving in energy-intensive industry
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Applied Energy. - : Aldring og helse. - 0306-2619 .- 1872-9118. ; 240, s. 499-512
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Our study looked at the extent to which firm characteristics such as total firm capital affect electricity saving in energy-intensive industry in Sweden from 2007 to 2015. Specifically, the most influential variables for systematic variation in electricity saving in the energy-intensive companies participating in Sweden’s voluntary programme for improving energy efficiency in energy-intensive industry (the PFE) were studied by analysing monetary investment, payback time and firm characteristics. Monetary investment and payback time influenced electricity savings during the PFE more than firm characteristics, with monetary investment being most influential. Nevertheless, the total systematic variation in firm characteristics may account for ∼16% of the systematic variation in electricity saving, where ∼74% (32 of 43) of the studied firm characteristics seemed to merit further investigation and where ∼49% (21 of 43) of firm characteristics appeared most influential. The most influential firm characteristics were total firm capital, stock turnover ratio, machinery, short-term liabilities per turnover ratio and goodwill. The overall results showed that firm characteristics can influence a firm’s energy-saving activities and indicated a tendency for more energy savings in companies that were financially weaker or had done less work to improve energy efficiency prior to the PFE.
