  • Occupational Therapists’ Interactions With Older Adult Caregivers : Negotiating Priorities and Expertise
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: OTJR (Thorofare, N.J.). - : Sage Publications. - 1539-4492 .- 1938-2383. ; 39:1, s. 48-55
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Although numerous studies have examined provider–caregiver interactions and their influence on care outcomes, few represent the perspective of the provider or specifically consider occupational therapy practitioners. The aim of this article is to explore the perspectives of occupational therapists regarding interactions with older adult caregivers in geriatric practice settings. The study was conducted using a constructivist grounded theory approach based on data obtained from repeated focus group sessions and subsequent individual reflections. Occupational therapy practitioners interact with older adult caregivers in ways that reflect negotiations about who holds expertise and whose priorities are most relevant in care situations. These interactions are influenced by health care contexts that foreground the needs of the care recipient. A deeper understanding of caregiving as an occupation via a transactional perspective may serve to illuminate complex care situations and optimize therapist–caregiver interactions.

  • Manifesto for an international digital mental health network
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Digital Psychiatry. - 2575-517X. ; :1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Current mental health services across the world remain expert-centric and are based on traditional workflows, mostly using impractical and ineffective electronic record systems or even paper-based documentation. The international network for digital mental health (IDMHN) is comprised of top-level clinicians, regulatory and ICT experts, genetic scientists, and support organizations. The IDMHN has been formed to enable the implementation of digital innovations in clinical practice, hereby facilitating the transformation of current mental health services to be more personalized and more responsive to patients and healthcare needs. This consensus statement summarizes the consortium’s vision and strategy for further development of digital mental Health.

  • Processability of mesoporous materials in fused deposition modeling for drug delivery of a model thermolabile drug
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Pharmaceutics. - : Elsevier. - 2590-1567. ; 5
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The incorporation of drug-loaded mesoporous materials in dosage forms prepared with fused deposition modeling (FDM) has shown the potential to solve challenges relating to additive manufacturing techniques, such as the stability of poorly-soluble drugs in the amorphous state. However, the addition of these non-melting mesoporous materials significantly affects the mechanical properties of the filament used in FDM, which in turn affects the printability of the feedstock material. Therefore, in this study a full-factorial experimental design was utilized to investigate different processing parameters of the hot melt extrusion process, their effect on various mechanical properties and the potential correlation with the filaments' printability. The thermolabile, poorly-soluble drug ibuprofen was utilized as a model drug to assess the potential of two mesoporous materials, Mesoporous Magnesium Carbonate (MMC) and a silica-based material (MCM-41), to thermally protect the loaded drug. Factorial and principal components analysis displayed a correlation between non-printable MCM-41 filaments and their mechanical properties where printable filaments had a maximum stress >7.5 MPa and a Young's modulus >83 MPa. For MMC samples there was no clear correlation, which was in large part attributed to the filaments' inconsistencies and imperfections. Finally, both mesoporous materials displayed a thermal protective feature, as the decomposition due to the thermal degradation of a significant portion of the thermolabile drug was shifted to higher temperatures post-loading. This highlights the potential capability of such a system to be implemented for thermosensitive drugs in FDM applications.

  • Experimental characterisation of the in-plane shear behaviour of UD thermoset prepregs under processing conditions
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Composites. Part A, Applied science and manufacturing. - : Elsevier BV. - 1359-835X .- 1878-5840. ; 133
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The in-plane shear behaviour of an uncured composite material (i.e. prepreg sheet, dry fibre preforms etc) is one of the key parameters that influences wrinkle generation in advanced composites manufacturing processes such as automated fibre placement (AFP) and thermoforming. However, there is no standardised test method for the characterisation of uncured unidirectional prepreg subjected to pure shear loading. In this paper, a 10 degrees off-axis tensile test is developed, and the method's suitability is demonstrated on two different materials. The mechanical response is analysed over a range of testing rates and temperatures that are consistent with the real manufacturing process parameters. The results demonstrate the feasibility of the test method for extracting relevant material characteristics and the strain-rate and temperature dependency of the material response.
