Introducing measurement programs into large organizations, like Ericsson, can benefit from using models in order to overcome difficulties with establishing a common understanding of software metrics. Using automated transformations of domain-specific modeling of measurement systems (systems used to collect, analyze and present metric data) can decrease the time required to develop customized measurement systems for project, product and line managers. In this paper we present a set of experiences how introducing models and Model Driven Engineering led to decreased development time of measurement systems (by the factor of 2), establishment of mature metric culture in the organization and contributed to large-scale spread of metric programs
