  • Arkæologi, pseudoarkæologi og sakral topografi
  • 2001
  • Ingår i: META: Medeltidsarkeologisk tidskrift. - 0348-7903. ; :4, s. 3-31
  • Tidskriftsartikel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Is it possible and desirable to separate between science and pseudo science, between archaeology and pseudo archaeology? And should archaeologists igonore, understand or criticise pseudo archaeology? My experiences from the study of four traditions within the field of “sacred topographies” show, that it is rather difficult or even impossible to separate archaeology from pseudo archaeology. In the spirit of Karl R. Popper and his critical rationalism I conclude, that archaeology should welcome all kinds of ideas, which then ought to be seriously examined.

  • Optimierungsbedarf von Spielersperren Ergebnisse der VeSpA-Interviewstudie
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: SUCHT. - : Hogrefe Publishing Group. - 0939-5911 .- 1664-2856. ; 66:4, s. 223-235
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract

  • Leg length discrepancy in total hip arthroplasty : comparison of two methods of measurement
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: International Orthopaedics. - New York, USA : Springer. - 0341-2695 .- 1432-5195. ; 33:5, s. 1189-1193
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Measurement of leg length discrepancy is an important part in planning a successful total hip arthroplasty (THA). Many clinical and radiological methods with variable degrees of accuracy have been advocated to carry out this measurement. We studied the accuracy of a commonly used clinical method by comparing it to a well-known and reliable radiological method. A total of 139 patients aged 44-89 (mean: 67.5 years) scheduled to undergo THA were examined for clinical and radiological leg length discrepancy measurements before and after the operation by the same observers. There was a poor correlation between the clinical and radiological methods preoperatively [r = 0.21, intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) = 0.33]. The correlation was better postoperatively (r = 0.45, ICC = 0.62). The clinical method used is not recommended for leg length discrepancy measurement preoperatively. Caution should even be taken when using this method postoperatively. The authors recommend using the radiological method when measuring leg length discrepancy as a part of planning for THA.

  • SenseCam, imagery and bias in memory for wellbeing
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Memory. - : PSYCHOLOGY PRESS. - 0965-8211 .- 1464-0686. ; 19:7, s. 768-777
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Identifying and modifying the negative interpretation bias that characterises depression is central to successful treatment. While accumulating evidence indicates that mental imagery is particularly effective in the modification of emotional bias, this research typically incorporates static and unrelated ambiguous stimuli. SenseCam technology, and the resulting video-like footage, offers an opportunity to produce training stimuli that are dynamic and self-relevant. Here participants experienced several ambiguous tasks and subsequently viewed SenseCam footage of the same tasks, paired with negative or positive captions. Participants were trained to use mental imagery to inter-relate SenseCam footage and captions. Participants reported increased levels of happy mood, reduced levels of sad mood, and increased task enjoyment following SenseCam review with positive versus negative captions. This shift in emotional bias was also evident at 24-hour follow-up, as participants recollected greater task enjoyment for those tasks previously paired with positive captions. Mental imagery appears to play an important role in this process. These preliminary results indicate that in healthy volunteers, SenseCam can be used within a bias modification paradigm to shift mood and memory for wellbeing associated with performing everyday activities. Further refinements are necessary before similar methods can be applied to individuals suffering from subclinical and clinical depression.

  • Evolution Of The Dust Size Distribution Of Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko From 2.2 Au To Perihelion
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Astrophysical Journal. - 0004-637X .- 1538-4357. ; 821:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Rosetta probe, orbiting Jupiter-family comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, has been detecting individual dust particles of mass larger than 10(-10) kg by means of the GIADA dust collector and the OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera and Narrow Angle Camera since 2014 August and will continue until 2016 September. Detections of single dust particles allow us to estimate the anisotropic dust flux from 67P, infer the dust loss rate and size distribution at the surface of the sunlit nucleus, and see whether the dust size distribution of 67P evolves in time. The velocity of the Rosetta orbiter, relative to 67P, is much lower than the dust velocity measured by GIADA, thus dust counts when GIADA is nadir-pointing will directly provide the dust flux. In OSIRIS observations, the dust flux is derived from the measurement of the dust space density close to the spacecraft. Under the assumption of radial expansion of the dust, observations in the nadir direction provide the distance of the particles by measuring their trail length, with a parallax baseline determined by the motion of the spacecraft. The dust size distribution at sizes > 1 mm observed by OSIRIS is consistent with a differential power index of -4, which was derived from models of 67P's trail. At sizes <1 mm, the size distribution observed by GIADA shows a strong time evolution, with a differential power index drifting from -2 beyond 2 au to -3.7 at perihelion, in agreement with the evolution derived from coma and tail models based on ground-based data. The refractory-to-water mass ratio of the nucleus is close to six during the entire inbound orbit and at perihelion.

  • Hardness, Young's Modulus and Elastic Recovery in Magnetron Sputtered Amorphous AlMgB14 Films
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Crystals. - : MDPI. - 2073-4352. ; 10:9
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We report optical and mechanical properties of hard aluminum magnesium boride films magnetron sputtered from a stoichiometric AlMgB14 ceramic target onto Corning (R) 1737 Glass and Si (100) wafers. High target sputtering rf-power and sufficiently short target-to-substrate distance appeared to be critical processing conditions. Amorphous AlMgB14 films demonstrate very strong indentation size effect (ISE): exceptionally high nanohardness H = 88 GPa and elastic Young's modulus E* = 517 GPa at 26nmof the diamond probe penetration depth and almost constant values, respectively, of about 35 GPa and 275 GPa starting at depths of about 2-3% of films' thickness. For comparative analysis of elastic strain to failure index H/E*, resistance to plastic deformation ratio H-3/E*(2) and elastic recovery ratio W-e were obtained in nanoindentation tests performed in a wide range of loading forces from 0.5 to 40 mN. High authentic numerical values of H = 50 GPa and E* = 340 GPa correlate with as low as only 10% of total energy dissipating through the plastic deformations.
