  • Evaluating the Impact of Signal Control on Emissions at Intersections
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Smart Innovation, Systems and Technologies. - Singapore : Springer Nature Singapore. - 2190-3026 .- 2190-3018. ; 304 SIST, s. 104-111
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Transport emission has become an increasingly serious problem, and it is an urgent issue in sustainable transport. In this study, by constructing traffic emission models for different vehicle types and operating conditions, the changes in CO, HC, and NOx emissions of light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles before and after signal control optimization were quantified based on VISSIM simulation. The OBEAS-3000 vehicle emission testing device was used to collect data on the micro-operational characteristics of different vehicles under different operating conditions as well as traffic emission data. Based on the data collected, the VSP (Vehicle Specific Power) model combined with the VISSIM traffic simulation platform was used to calculate the emissions of light and heavy vehicles in the mixed traffic flow before and after intersection signal optimization. It is known from the study that signal control optimization has a greater impact on heavy vehicles than on light vehicles. Emissions of CO, HC, and NOx from heavy vehicles and light vehicles are all reduced, but NOx emissions from light vehicles remain largely unchanged. The research results reveal the emission patterns of light and heavy vehicles in different micro-operating conditions and establish a traffic emission model. It provides a theoretical basis for accurate traffic emission analysis and traffic flow optimization, as well as a scientific basis for the formulation of traffic management measures and emission reduction in large city transport systems.

  • Unidirectional Sidechain Engineering to Construct Dual-Asymmetric Acceptors for 19.23 % Efficiency Organic Solar Cells with Low Energy Loss and Efficient Charge Transfer
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Angewandte Chemie International Edition. - : WILEY-V C H VERLAG GMBH. - 1433-7851 .- 1521-3773. ; 62:36
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Achieving both high open-circuit voltage (V-oc) and short-circuit current density (J(sc)) to boost power-conversion efficiency (PCE) is a major challenge for organic solar cells (OSCs), wherein high energy loss (E-loss) and inefficient charge transfer usually take place. Here, three new Y-series acceptors of mono-asymmetric asy-YC11 and dual-asymmetric bi-asy-YC9 and bi-asy-YC12 are developed. They share the same asymmetric D(1)AD(2) (D-1=thieno[3,2-b]thiophene and D-2=selenopheno[3,2-b]thiophene) fused-core but have different unidirectional sidechain on D-1 side, allowing fine-tuned molecular properties, such as intermolecular interaction, packing pattern, and crystallinity. Among the binary blends, the PM6 : bi-asy-YC12 one has better morphology with appropriate phase separation and higher order packing than the PM6 : asy-YC9 and PM6 : bi-asy-YC11 ones. Therefore, the PM6 : bi-asy-YC12-based OSCs offer a higher PCE of 17.16 % with both high V-oc and J(sc), due to the reduced E-loss and efficient charge transfer properties. Inspired by the high V-oc and strong NIR-absorption, bi-asy-YC12 is introduced into efficient binary PM6 : L8-BO to construct ternary OSCs. Thanks to the broadened absorption, optimized morphology, and furtherly minimized E-loss, the PM6 : L8-BO : bi-asy-YC12-based OSCs achieve a champion PCE of 19.23 %, which is one of the highest efficiencies among these annealing-free devices. Our developed unidirectional sidechain engineering for constructing bi-asymmetric Y-series acceptors provides an approach to boost PCE of OSCs.

  • Resonant Transducers Consisting of Graphene Ribbons with Attached Proof Masses for NEMS Sensors
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: ACS Applied Nano Materials. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 2574-0970. ; 7:1, s. 102-109
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The unique mechanical and electrical properties of graphene make it an exciting material for nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS). NEMS resonators with graphene springs facilitate studies of graphene's fundamental material characteristics and thus enable innovative device concepts for applications such as sensors. Here, we demonstrate resonant transducers with ribbon-springs made of double-layer graphene and proof masses made of silicon and study their nonlinear mechanics at resonance both in air and in vacuum by laser Doppler vibrometry. Surprisingly, we observe spring-stiffening and spring-softening at resonance, depending on the graphene spring designs. The measured quality factors of the resonators in a vacuum are between 150 and 350. These results pave the way for a class of ultraminiaturized nanomechanical sensors such as accelerometers by contributing to the understanding of the dynamics of transducers based on graphene ribbons with an attached proof mass.

  • Cholecystokinin-like peptide mediates satiety by inhibiting sugar attraction
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: PLOS Genetics. - : Public Library of Science (PLoS). - 1553-7390 .- 1553-7404. ; 17:8
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Feeding is essential for animal survival and reproduction and is regulated by both internal states and external stimuli. However, little is known about how internal states influence the perception of external sensory cues that regulate feeding behavior. Here, we investigated the neuronal and molecular mechanisms behind nutritional state-mediated regulation of gustatory perception in control of feeding behavior in the brown planthopper and Drosophila. We found that feeding increases the expression of the cholecystokinin-like peptide, sulfakinin (SK), and the activity of a set of SK-expressing neurons. Starvation elevates the transcription of the sugar receptor Gr64f and SK negatively regulates the expression of Gr64f in both insects. Interestingly, we found that one of the two known SK receptors, CCKLR-17D3, is expressed by some of Gr64f-expressing neurons in the proboscis and proleg tarsi. Thus, we have identified SK as a neuropeptide signal in a neuronal circuitry that responds to food intake, and regulates feeding behavior by diminishing gustatory receptor gene expression and activity of sweet sensing GRNs. Our findings demonstrate one nutritional state-dependent pathway that modulates sweet perception and thereby feeding behavior, but our experiments cannot exclude further parallel pathways. Importantly, we show that the underlying mechanisms are conserved in the two distantly related insect species.

  • Phylogenomics, divergence times and notes of orders in Basidiomycota
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: Fungal Diversity. - 1560-2745 .- 1878-9129. ; 126, s. 127-406
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Basidiomycota is one of the major phyla in the fungal tree of life. The outline of Basidiomycota provides essential taxonomic information for researchers and workers in mycology. In this study, we present a time-framed phylogenomic tree with 487 species of Basidiomycota from 127 families, 47 orders, 14 classes and four subphyla; we update the outline of Basidiomycota based on the phylogenomic relationships and the taxonomic studies since 2019; and we provide notes for each order and discuss the history, defining characteristics, evolution, justification of orders, problems, significance, and plates. Our phylogenomic analysis suggests that the subphyla diverged in a time range of 443–490 Myr (million years), classes in a time range of 312–412 Myr, and orders in a time range of 102–361 Myr. Families diverged in a time range of 50–289 Myr, 76–224 Myr, and 62–156 Myr in Agaricomycotina, Pucciniomycotina, and Ustilaginomycotina, respectively. Based on the phylogenomic relationships and divergence times, we propose a new suborder Mycenineae in Agaricales to accommodate Mycenaceae. In the current outline of Basidiomycota, there are four subphyla, 20 classes, 77 orders, 297 families, and 2134 genera accepted. When building a robust taxonomy of Basidiomycota in the genomic era, the generation of molecular phylogenetic data has become relatively easier. Finding phenotypical characters, especially those that can be applied for identification and classification, however, has become increasingly challenging.

  • Convergence of the age structure of general schemes of population processes
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Bernoulli. - 1350-7265. ; 26:2, s. 893-926
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We consider a family of general branching processes with reproduction parameters depending on the age of the individual as well as the population age structure and a parameter K, which may represent the carrying capacity. These processes are Markovian in the age structure. In a previous paper [8] the Law of Large Numbers as K Ñ 8 was derived. Here we prove the Central Limit Theorem, namely the weak convergence of the fluctuation processes in an appropriate Skorokhod space. We also show that the limit is driven by a stochastic partial differential equation.

  • Fabrication and bonding of In bumps on Micro-LED with 8 μ m pixel pitch
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: ENGINEERING RESEARCH EXPRESS. - 2631-8695. ; 6:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Indium (In) is currently used to fabricate metal bumps on micro-light-emitting diode (Micro-LED) chips due to its excellent physical properties. However, as Micro-LED pixel size and pitch decrease, achieving high-quality In bumps on densely packed Micro-LED chips often presents more challenges. This paper describes the process of fabricating In bumps on micro-LEDs using thermal evaporation, highlighting an issue where In tends to grow laterally within the photoresist pattern, ultimately blocking the pattern and resulting in undersized and poorly dense In bumps on the Micro-LED chip. To address this issue, we conducted numerous experiments to study the height variation of In bumps within a range of photoresist aperture sizes (3 mu m -7 mu m) under two different resist thickness conditions (3.8 mu m and 4.8 mu m). The results showed that the resist thickness had a certain effect on the height of In bumps on the Micro-LED chip electrodes. Moreover, we found that, with the photoresist pattern size increasing under constant resist thickness conditions, the height and quality of the bumps significantly improved. Based on this finding, we rationalized the adjustment of the photoresist pattern size within a limited emission platform range to compensate for the height difference of In bumps caused by different resist thicknesses between the cathode and anode regions. Consequently, well-shaped and dense In bumps with a maximum height of up to 4.4 mu m were fabricated on 8 mu m pitch Micro-LED chips. Afterwards, we bonded the Micro-LED chip with indium bumps to the CMOS chip, and we found that we could successfully control the CMOS chip to drive the Micro-LED chip to display specific characters through the Flexible Printed Circuit (FPC). This work is of significant importance for the fabrication of In bumps on Micro-LED chips with pitches below 10 mu m and subsequent bonding processes.

  • A combined computational and experimental approach predicts thrombin adsorption to zeolites
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Colloids and Surfaces B. - : Elsevier BV. - 0927-7765 .- 1873-4367. ; 221, s. 113007-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Robust protein-nanomaterial surface analysis is important, but also a challenge. Thrombin plays an important role in the coagulant activity of protein corona mediated by Ca2+ ion exchanged zeolites. However, the mech-anism for this modulation remains unresolved. In this study, we proposed a combined computational and experimental approach to determine the adsorbed sites and orientations of thrombin binding to Ca2+-exchanged LTA-type (CaA) zeolite. Specifically, fourteen ensembles of simulated annealing molecular dynamics (SAMD) simulations and experimental surface residues microenvironment analysis were used to reduce the starting orientations needed for further molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. The combined MD simulations and pro -coagulant activity characterization also reveal the consequent corresponding deactivation of thrombin on CaA zeolite. It is mainly caused by two aspects: (1) the secondary structure of thrombin can change after its adsorption on the CaA zeolite. (2) The positively charged area of thrombin mediates the preferential interaction between thrombin and CaA zeolite. Some thrombin substrate sites are thus blocked by zeolite after its adsorption. This study not only provides a promising method for characterizing the protein-nanoparticle interaction, but also gives an insight into the design and application of zeolite with high procoagulant activity.

  • Long-term deformation of rock salt under creep–fatigue stress loading paths: Modeling and prediction
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Rock Mechanics And Mining Sciences. - : Elsevier. - 1365-1609 .- 1873-4545. ; 181
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Rock salt, due to its water solubility, low permeability, high plasticity, and damage self-healing ability, is one of the best candidate rock types for underground energy storage. Utilizing salt caves to construct compressed air energy storage (CAES) facilities can effectively enhance the utilization of renewable energy. Due to the need for peak shaving, the surrounding rock of the salt cavern will undergo discontinuous cyclic loading with varying gas injection rates and pressures, namely, alternating creep–fatigue loading. Considering the actual peak-shaving cycle of a CAES plant, long-term creep–fatigue tests of rock salt with different loading cycles and stress levels were conducted. The results indicate that in long-term creep–fatigue tests for rock salt, the lower the loading stress rate is, the greater the deformation of the rock salt. The variation in the stress limit has a greater effect on creep than on fatigue loading and unloading. The deformation rate of rock salt is influenced by alterations in the stress state. Based on the test results, according to the Norton creep model, a new creep–fatigue constitutive model for rock salt was established by defining a state variable that characterizes the level of rock hardening and introducing unloading as well as crack factors. This model can accurately describe the impact of historical loading and unloading processes on the viscoplastic mechanical characteristics of rock salt. The rock salt creep–fatigue test results were used to verify the constitutive model. A comparison of the fitting curve of the different stress loading paths with the test curve reveals good consistency, indicating that the model comprehensively considers the effects of time, load, and state on rock salt creep–fatigue, effectively describing the viscoplastic deformation characteristics of rock salt under different stress paths. These research findings provide important guidance for ensuring the stability of salt caverns used for CAES.
