  • Bäckaskog - a Norbertine Abbey in the Circary of Denmark and Norway
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Glaube, Macht und Pracht : Geistliche Gemeinschaften des Ostseeraums im Zeitalter der Backsteingotik - Geistliche Gemeinschaften des Ostseeraums im Zeitalter der Backsteingotik. - 9783896464668 ; 6, s. 95-106
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In the twelfth century the Norbertine order was introduced in parts of Scandinavia. One initiator in the north was Eskil, the powerful archbishop of Lund. However, in the beginning of the thirteenth century the mendicant orders were introduced by successors to the archbishopric. This led to a general decline of other orders. In spite of that the Norbertines managed to prosper in Bäckaskog, an abbey in the East Danish province of Scania. With Bäckaskog as a starting point I have studied the changing relationship between the Norbertines and the secular power, during the age of the Backsteingotik, and the consequences for the Norbertines in the eastern part of the Danish – Norwegian circary. In the study different methods and sources were used to obtain a cleared and more detailed picture of the past than is possible with more traditional archaeology. As well as traditional “on site” archaeology, the understanding of the landscape and its influence on the changing relationship between the Norbertines and the secular power has been taken in consideration. In the following article some of the results and methods are presented.

  • Attitudes towards the Conservation of Biological Diversity - a Case Study in Kristianstad Municipality, Sweden
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: Journal of Environmental Planning and Management. - : Informa UK Limited. - 0964-0568 .- 1360-0559. ; 49:4, s. 495-513
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Human actions towards land, freshwater and oceans have already caused biodiversity to decline. This study aims to investigate attitudes towards the conservation of biological biodiversity among different groups in a Swedish city, Kristianstad. An inquiry including statements measuring attitudes towards the conservation of habitats, animals and plants, to the biological diversity within selected local areas, to global and national areas, and to societal issues, was replied to by 271 persons. Deciduous forests, birds and wild flowers were given highest priority. An area categorized as wetland including lakeshore meadows with a rich bird life was prioritized as most important for conservation while a forest area was chosen as best for recreation. The experts gave lower priority to arable land, urban parks, domestic animals, agricultural and garden plants and to conifer forests compared to the other groups. Knowledge about what people in general value as important could facilitate the future planning of nature areas in the city of Kristianstad.

  • SURFATM-NH3 : a model combining the surface energy balance and bi-directional exchanges of ammonia applied at the field scale
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Biogeosciences. - Göttingen, Germany : Copernicus Publications. - 1726-4170 .- 1726-4189. ; 6:8, s. 1371-1388
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A new biophysical model SURFATM-NH3, simulating the ammonia (NH3) exchange between terrestrial ecosystems and the atmosphere is presented. SURFATM-NH3 consists of two coupled models: (i) an energy budget model and (ii) a pollutant exchange model, which distinguish the soil and plant exchange processes. The model describes the exchanges in terms of adsorption to leaf cuticles and bi-directional transport through leaf stomata and soil. The results of the model are compared with the flux measurements over grassland during the GRAMINAE Integrated Experiment at Braunschweig, Germany. The dataset of GRAMINAE allows the model to be tested in various meteorological and agronomic conditions: prior to cutting, after cutting and then after the application of mineral fertilizer. The whole comparison shows close agreement between model and measurements for energy budget and ammonia fluxes. The major controls on the ground and plant emission potential are the physicochemical parameters for liquid-gas exchanges which are integrated in the compensation points for live leaves, litter and the soil surface. Modelled fluxes are highly sensitive to soil and plant surface temperatures, highlighting the importance of accurate estimates of these terms. The model suggests that the net flux depends not only on the foliar (stomatal) compensation point but also that of leaf litter. SURFATM-NH3 represents a comprehensive approach to studying pollutant exchanges and its link with plant and soil functioning. It also provides a simplified generalised approach (SVAT model) applicable for atmospheric transport models.
