  • Instrumentation, Control and Automation in Wastewater Systems
  • 2005
  • Bok (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • nstrumentation, control and automation (ICA) in wastewater treatment systems is now an established and recognised area of technology in the profession. There are obvious incentives for ICA, not the least from an economic point of view. Plants are also becoming increasingly complex which necessitates automation and control. Instrumentation, Control and Automation in Wastewater Systems summarizes the state-of-the-art of ICA and its application in wastewater treatment systems and focuses on how leading-edge technology is used for better operation. The book is written for: * The practising process engineer and the operator, who wishes to get an updated picture of what is possible to implement in terms of ICA; * The process designer, who needs to consider the couplings between design and operation; * The researcher or the student, who wishes to get the latest technological overview of an increasingly complex field. There is a clear aim to present a practical ICA approach, based on a technical and economic platform. The economic benefit of different control and operation possibilities is quantified. The more qualitative benefits, such as better process understanding and more challenging work for the operator are also described. Several full-scale experiences of how ICA has improved economy, ease of operation and robustness of plant operation are presented. The book emphasizes both unit process control and plant wide operation.

  • Electrodermal hyporeactivity as a trait marker for suicidal propensity in uni- and bipolar depression
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Journal of Psychiatric Research. - : Elsevier. - 0022-3956 .- 1879-1379. ; 47:12, s. 1925-1931
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: A meta-analysis of studies investigating electrodermal activity in depressed patients, suggested that electrodermal hyporeactivity is sensitive and specific for suicide. less thanbrgreater than less thanbrgreater thanAims: To confirm this finding and to study electrodermal hyporeactivity relative to type and severity of depression, trait anxiety, its stability and independence of depressive state. Method: Depressed inpatients (n = 783) were tested for habituation of electrodermal responses and clinically assessed using the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the STAI-Trait scale for trait anxiety. less thanbrgreater than less thanbrgreater thanResults: The high sensitivity and raw specificity of electrodermal hyporeactivity for suicide were confirmed. Its prevalence was highest in bipolar disorders and was independent of severity of depression, trait anxiety, gender and age. Hyporeactivity was stable, while reactivity changed into hyporeactivity in a later depressive episode. less thanbrgreater than less thanbrgreater thanConclusions: The findings support the hypothesis that electrodermal hyporeactivity is a trait marker for suicidal propensity in depression.

  • Microstructural study of the NbC to G-phase transformation in HP-Nb alloys
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Materialia. - : Elsevier B.V.. - 2589-1529. ; 9
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The microstructure of a centrifugally cast HP alloy was studied in its as-received state and after ageing at 900 °C. A multi-scale approach combining X Ray Diffraction (XRD), advanced electron microscopy modes (scanning and transmission electron microscopies (SEM, TEM), together with focused ion beam/SEM nanotomography (FIB-nt)) has been carried out to characterize the evolution of niobium carbides during ageing. After thermal treatment, the carbides exhibit a complex microstructure, consisting of a core of untransformed NbC, an intermediate layer of G-phase (Ni16Nb6Si7) with embedded nanometric titanium carbide precipitates, and an outer shell of alternating chromium carbides Cr23C6 and G-phase. A simple diffusion model was used to explain the faster external growth of G-phase compared to the internal NbC dissolution, and to determine a diffusion coefficient of niobium in the G-phase at 900 °C.
