  • Mellan resignation och framtidstro : livsvillkor och lärande hos förortens unga
  • 2024
  • Book (other academic/artistic)abstract

  • Platformized Teacher Work – Obstacles and Diffractions in Assessment Work Practices
  • 2024
  • In: In A. Buch, Y. Lindberg & T. Cerratto Pargman (Eds.) Framing Futures in Postdigital Education Framing Futures in Postdigital Education: Critical Concepts for Data-driven Practices. - Cham : Springer Nature Switzerland AG. - 2524-485X .- 2524-4868. - 9783031586217
  • Book chapter (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • This study critically examines how the ongoing platformization of education materializes in teachers’ work. The issues raised are how teachers’ work is affected by the socio-material arrangements of assessment work practices in which digital platforms are entangled and, in particular, how obstacles and breakdowns produce patterns of diffraction that effect teachers’ work. Based on ethnographic material produced in four different schools, teachers’ work was traced through observations, logs, interviews, and digital walkthroughs. Here, we use diffractive analysis to explore how teachers’ work is interrupted, repaired, maintained and coordinated through different events, discourses, human and non-human labor, platforms, and devices. The analysis contributes to identifying three interrelated diffraction patterns that are important for understanding platformized teacher work: how new space-time orderings occur through socio-material entanglements that distribute, intensify and individualize work; how work is extended and maintained through a new regularity of assessing and surveilling students; and how calendar devices and time management discourses coordinate assessment work practices in schools.

  • Konstbaserad miljöundervisning – att upptäcka naturen
  • 2024
  • In: Bild och visuell kultur. Undersökande bildundervisning i grundskola och fritidshem. - Lund : Studentlitteratur. - 9789144182889 ; , s. 43-58
  • Book chapter (other academic/artistic)abstract

  • How Movement Habits Become Relevant in Novel Learning Situations
  • 2024
  • In: Journal of teaching in physical education. - : Human Kinetics. - 0273-5024 .- 1543-2769. ; 43:1, s. 152-160
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Purpose: To (a) present a theoretical framework that describes how learners' movement habits become relevant in the development of movement capability and (b) present data that illustrate how this process occurs in practice. Method: An investigation with preservice physical education teachers was conducted in two phases. The first phase involved examining participants' movement habits, and the second phase involved examining the participants' development of novel capabilities in the context of unicycling. Results: Empirical materials from two participants are presented as case studies. The cases demonstrate how different sets of movement habits interact with novel tasks, making the demand for creative action more or less likely. The cases also demonstrate how subjective and physical elements are interwoven. Finally, the cases provide insights into potentially productive habits for movement learning. Discussion/Conclusion: The paper is concluded with pedagogical implications, including a consideration of how crises might be managed in educational contexts.

  • Möjligheter och hinder med studiehandledning på modersmål för nyanlända (Opportunities and obstacles with native language study guidance for newly arrived students)
  • 2024
  • In: Mångfaldens möten: Interkulturalitet, utbildning och lärande. - Växjö : Linnaeus University Press. - 9789180821476 - 9789180821483 ; , s. 213-233
  • Book chapter (peer-reviewed)abstract

  • Rakel Zetterlund - Climate change, eco-anxiety & undergraduate students
  • 2024
  • Other publication (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • In this episode I am speaking with Rakel Zetterland, a former teacher and today with an interest about her Master thesis exploring ‘wicked’ sustainability problems such as climate change, gas emissions and overconsumption and its link to Eco-anxiety among undergraduate students. The definition for Eco-anxiety is a heightened levels of stress, anxiety, depression, and obsessive thinking related directly to environmental changes, or how we perceive these changes in a culture in denial. Rakel share her own experiences of being diagnosed with anxiety in her early twenties and while she is not a psychologist (she is a teacher how she today believe In our current age dealing with ‘wicked’ sustainability problems such as climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, and overconsumption, there has been a rise in climate-related anxiety (WHO, 2020), now oftentimes dubbed ‘eco-anxiety’ (Clayton et al., 2017). (Clayton et al., 2017; Usher et al., 2019; Clayton & Karazsia, 2020). Former Canadian ECEC Teacher Rakel Zetterlund, today living and working at a VU university in Amsterdam as an International Service Officer. The topic today is based on Rakel’s recently completed Master Thesis in Education for Sustainable Development, from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Her thesis Understanding Eco-Anxiety: The individual lived experiences of undergraduate students aiming for a hopeful future. Hear Rakel unpack the challenges many young undergraduate students face today, that relate to both the pandemic and to climate change. Eco-anxiety is defined as heightened levels of stress, anxiety and depression and obsessive thinking related directly to environmental changes (WHO, 2020). With personal experiences of anxiety and by noticing a rise in anxiety, stress and depression among undergraduates in the university setting over several years was the catalyst for her masters and the decision to learn more in order to help and support students.

  • Advancing Sustainability through Higher Education : Student Teachers Integrate Inner Development Goals (IDG) and Future-Oriented Methodologies
  • 2024
  • In: Challenges. - : MDPI. - 2078-1547. ; 15:2, s. 28-52
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Methodologies for future-oriented research are mutually beneficial in highlighting differentmethodological perspectives and proposals for extending higher-education didactics toward sustainability. This study explores how different augmented-reality applications can enable new ways ofteaching and learning. It systematically investigates how student teachers (n = 18) in higher educationexperienced ongoing realities while designing learning activities for a hybrid conference and interconnectingsustainability knowings via didactic modeling and design thinking. This qualitative studyaims to develop a conceptual hybrid framework concerning the implications of student teachersincorporating design thinking and inner transition into their professional work with future-orientedmethodologies on didactic modeling for sustainability commitment. With a qualitative approach, data were collected during and after a hackathon-like workshop through student teachers’ reflections,post-workshop surveys, and observation field notes. The thematic analysis shed light on transgressivelearning and a transition in sustainability mindset through the activation of inner dimensions.Findings reinforcing sustainability commitment evolved around the following categories: beingauthentic (intra-personal competence), collaborating co-creatively (interpersonal competence), thinkinglong-term-oriented (futures-thinking competence on implementing didactics understanding),relating to creative confidence (values-thinking competence as embodied engagement), and actingbased on perseverant professional knowledge-driven change (bridging didactics) by connectingtheory-loaded empiricism and empirically loaded theory. The results highlight some of the keyfeatures of future-oriented methodologies and approaches to future-oriented methodologies, whichinclude collaboration, boundary crossing, and exploration, and show the conditions that can supportor hinder methodological development and innovation.

  • Practical Theology & Religious Education in Sweden 2024 : Trends and themes. A keynote speech
  • 2024
  • Conference paper (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • The keynote speech explores the organisation, trends, and future of Practical Theology (PT) and Religious Education (RE) in Sweden in the year 2024. It covers the history of RE and PT in Swedish Higher Education, noting changes post-1994 with non-confessional education and the split of church and state in 2000. Current trends highlight the complexity of non-confessionality, the rise of minority perspectives, and the integration of digital religiosity and globalisation themes. Looking ahead, the presentation anticipates increased interdisciplinary cooperation and Nordic networks, alongside potential challenges such as the marginalisation of these subjects and the risk of RE becoming voluntary in schools.
