Luminous, pc-scale CO 6-5 emission in the obscured nucleus of NGC 1377

- High-resolution submillimeter line and continuum observations are important in probing the morphology, column density, and dynamics of the molecular gas and dust around obscured active galactic nuclei (AGNs). With high-resolution (0'.06 x 0'.05 (6 x 5 pc)) ALMA 690 GHz observations we have found bright (T-B > 80 K) and compact (full width half maximum size (FWHM) size of 10 x 7 pc) CO 6-5 line emission in the nuclear region of the extremely radio-quiet galaxy NGC 1377. The CO 6-5 intensity is partially aligned with the previously discovered jet/outflow of NGC 1377 and is tracing dense (n > 10(4 )cm(-3)) hot molecular gas at the base of the outflow. The velocity structure is complex and shifts across the jet/outflow are discussed in terms of separate overlapping kinematical components or rotation. - A more efficient use of transport in urban areas and promoting a more sustainable way of living along with ever-accelerating urbanization and digitalization are the main drivers for MaaS. MaaS is needed to solve mobility challenges in cities and new business and service concepts can be easily tested in more densely populated environments first. However, a huge number of people with various demands for mobility services live in smaller communities and rural areas where the availability of and accessibility to mobility services is usually entirely different and more limited than in urban areas. In this paper, MaaS service combinations for four different contexts and geographic areas are identified: 1) MaaS in urban areas; 2) MaaS in suburban areas; 3) MaaS in rural areas; and 4) national and international MaaS. The characteristics of MaaS services in these different geographical areas regarding objectives and included services are also presented.

A systematic approach to derive dynamic equations for homogeneous and functionally graded micropolar plates

- This work considers a systematic derivation process to obtain hierarchies of dynamical equations for micropolar plates being either homogeneous or with a functionally graded (FG) material variation over the thickness. Based on the three dimensional micropolar continuum theory, a power series expansion technique of the displacement and micro-rotation fields in the thickness coordinate of the plate is adopted. The construction of the sets of plate equations is systematized by the introduction of recursion relations which relates higher order powers of displacement and micro-rotation terms with the lower order terms. This results in variationally consistent partial differential plate equations of motion and pertinent boundary conditions. Such plate equations can be constructed in a systematic fashion to any desired truncation order, where each equation order is hyperbolic and asymptotically correct. The resulting lowest order flexural plate equation is seen to be of a generalized Mindlin type. The numerical results illustrate that the present approach may render accurate solutions of benchmark type for both homogeneous and functionally graded micropolar plates provided higher order truncations are used. Moreover, low order truncations render new sets of plate equations that can act as engineering plate equations, e.g. of a generalized Mindlin type.

NdBaMn2O5+delta layered perovskite as an active cathode material for solid oxide fuel cells

- A layered perovskite, NdBaMn2O5+delta (NBMO), was synthesized by solid state reaction method in air. Rietveld analysis of X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) data showed the material crystallizing in orthorhombic symmetry (Pmmm space group). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to check the morphology and, the analysis of the micrographs exhibited a porous structure with in-situ growth of nanoparticles. Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) measurements from 600 degrees C to 800 degrees C shows the highest conductivity value of 1.17 x 10(-1) S/cm obtained at 800 degrees C with low activation energy (Ea) of 0.3 eV in air. In 5% H-2/Ar gas mixture, the conductivity and activation energy values were 1.97 x 10(-2) S/cm and 0.4 eV, respectively at 800 degrees C. The DC conductivity measurements also showed that this material is highly conductive in air with a conductivity value of 0.75 S/cm at 850 degrees C. Dual chamber fuel cell measurements on Ni-YSZ/YSZ/NBMO cell using 5% H-2/Ar as fuel (from 700 degrees C to 800 degrees C) showed a maximum power density of 0.202 W/cm(2) at 800 degrees C. The relatively high conductivity of the material in air and low activation energy makes it a potential candidate as cathode for solid oxide fuel cells.

- In this paper, the electropolymerisation of pre-synthesised N-ethylanilinium trifluoroacetate, a protic ionic liquid (PIL), was carried out. The PIL served as the monomer precursor, solvent, and supporting electrolyte for the polymerisation process, and no additional acid was required due to the protic nature of the PIL. Two different morphologies of the poly(N-ethylaniline) were achieved by using different electropolymerisation approaches and the resultant films were soluble in the PIL precursor as well as a wide range of organic solvents. The use of anilinium based PILs, as polymerisation precursors, promises a greener approach for the production of polyanilines, as well as highly processable polymers.

- This study aimed to evaluate how blending pH-shift produced protein isolates from gutted kilka (Clupeonella cultriventris) and silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) affected dynamic rheological and chemical properties of the proteins as well as microstructural and physico-mechanical properties of produced gels. Studied variables were protein solubilization pH (acid vs. alkaline) and blending step (before or after protein precipitation). Comparisons were made with conventionally washed minces from kilka and silver carp fillets; either alone or after blending. Rheological studies revealed that blending alkali-produced protein isolates before precipitation resulted in rapid increase of G′ reflecting the formation of intermolecular protein-protein interactions with higher rate. Furthermore, blending of alkali-produced protein isolates and washed minces, respectively, of kilka and silver carp improved physico-mechanical properties of the resultant gels compared to pure kilka proteins. However, the pH-shift method showed higher efficacy in development of blend surimi at the same blending ratio compared to the conventional washing.

- In this paper, a black-box vacuum circuit-breaker model is developed and its parameters are calculated. The developed model is deterministic and does not include the stochastic behavior of arc interruption. The phenomena, such as the current chopping, high-frequency current quenching capability, and rate of rise of dielectric strength are treated as deterministic and calculated using mean values. The vacuum breaker model is verified using a laboratory test setup, and simulation results show good agreement with the obtained measurements. The withstand voltage of the breaker during appearance of the voltage restrikes shows good agreement with the measurements. Moreover, the magnitude and repetitiveness of the high-frequency transients obtained in simulations are within a 10% margin when compared with measurements.

Fine-Grained Reliability for V2V Communications around Suburban and Urban Intersections

- Safe transportation is a key use-case of the 5G/LTE Rel.15+ communications, where an end-to-end reliability of 0.99999 is expected for a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) transmission distance of 100-200 m. Since communications reliability is related to road-safety, it is crucial to verify the fulfillment of the performance, especially for accident-prone areas such as intersections. We derive closed-form expressions for the V2V transmission reliability near suburban corners and urban intersections over finite interference regions. The analysis is based on plausible street configurations, traffic scenarios, and empirically-supported channel propagation. We show the means by which the performance metric can serve as a preliminary design tool to meet a target reliability. We then apply meta distribution concepts to provide a careful dissection of V2V communications reliability. Contrary to existing work on infinite roads, when we consider finite road segments for practical deployment, fine-grained reliability per realization exhibits bimodal behavior. Either performance for a certain vehicular traffic scenario is very reliable or extremely unreliable, but nowhere in relatively proximity to the average performance. In other words, standard SINR-based average performance metrics are analytically accurate but can be insufficient from a practical viewpoint. Investigating other safety-critical point process networks at the meta distribution-level may reveal similar discrepancies.
