  • Consensus statement on injury definitions and data collection procedures in studies of football (soccer) injuries
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: British Journal of Sports Medicine. - : BMJ. - 0306-3674 .- 1473-0480. ; 40:3, s. 193-201
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Variations in definitions and methodologies have created differences in the results and conclusions obtained from studies of football (soccer) injuries, making interstudy comparisons difficult. Therefore an Injury Consensus Group was established under the auspices of Federation Internationale de Football Association Medical Assessment and Research Centre. A nominal group consensus model approach was used. A working document on definitions, methodology, and implementation was discussed by the group. Iterative draft statements were prepared and circulated to members of the group for comment before the final consensus statement was produced. Definitions of injury, recurrent injury, severity, and training and match exposures in football together with criteria for classifying injuries in terms of location, type, diagnosis, and causation are proposed. Proforma for recording players' baseline information, injuries, and training and match exposures are presented. Recommendations are made on how the incidence of match and training injuries should be reported and a checklist of issues and information that should be included in published reports of studies of football injuries is presented.

  • ISSP Position Stand: Career Development and Transitions of Athletes
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology. - Fullerton, CA : International Society of Sport Psychology. - 1612-197X .- 1557-251X. ; 7:4, s. 395-412
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The ISSP Position Stand on Career Development and Transitions of Athletes draws attention to viewing athletes from the perspective of their career development and their broader historical and socio-cultural contexts. The particular focus of this paper is on career transitions as turning phases in career development. Successfully coping with transitions in and outside of sport allows greater opportunity for an athlete to live a long and successful life in sport as well as being able to adjust effectively to the post-career. Alternatively, failure in coping with a transition is often followed by negative consequences (e.g., premature dropout from sport, neuroses, alcohol/drug abuse, etc). Therefore, helping athletes to prepare for and/or cope with career transitions should be of primary concern for coaches, managers, athletes’ parents, and sport psychology consultants. In this paper we emphasize the role of contextual factors in career development/transition research and practice. Based on the literature review, we propose six statements and related recommendations for athletes and their significant others, as well as for researchers and consultants.

  • Gas Sensing Based on Ellipsometric Readout : Methodology and Development
  • 2003
  • Doktorsavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The concept of an ellipsometric sensor array system - "an optical nose" - is presented. The system is used to monitor and discriminate gases. The optical readout is based on polarizer-compensator-sample-analyzer (PCSA) off-null ellipsometry. Thin porous silicon sensing layers with and without surface chemical modifications are used to measure low concentration methanol, ethanol and 2-propanol gases. The main contents of the thesis are:- Principle and construction of a prototype PCSA ellipsometric gas sensor system.- Optimization of the azimuth angle settings of the optical components in PCSA off-null ellipsometry to obtain the maximum readout sensitivity.- Application of return-path off-null ellipsometry in gas sensing as an alternative way to construct ellipsometric gas sensors.- Modification of porous silicon sensing layers by copper deposition to obtain different gas sensitivity for the enhancement of selectivity.- Multi-sensing concept of the optical nose to detect and discriminate alcohols using porous silicon sensing layers and pattern recognition techniques. So far, a prototype PCSA ellipsometric gas sensor system has been constructed and tested. Low concentration methanol, ethanol and 2-propanol vapors are detected and discriminated based on the PCSA off-null ellipsometric gas sensor system and porous silicon sensing layers.

  • The Street of Associations : Migration and Infrastructural (Re)Production of Norra Grängesbergsgatan, Malmö
  • 2022
  • Doktorsavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • As global migration alters the demography of Swedish cities in the postwelfare era, socio-spatial polarisation and discrimination present acute challenges. In recent decades, Malmö has transformed from an industrial into a postindustrial, service economy-oriented city. The neoliberal urban planning and regeneration policies guiding such processes carry detrimental social and economic effects for unprivileged groups with limited opportunities and access to recourses, such as migrants. The focus of this study is the post-industrial street of Norra Grängesbergsgatan (NGBG) in the southeast part of Malmö. Geographically central, yet peripheral and long associated with crime, surveillance, and ‘informal’ economy, it has transformed into a hub for migrant breadwinners and entrepreneurs, as well as artistic and activist groups. NGBG provides a complex case of how migration and urban marginalisation intersect with neoliberal policies, and how migrants have responded creatively to such processes through spatial and material interventions. By weaving together the stories of and from the street, the thesis unfolds the translocal associations created in this nexus. Based on a combination of ethnographic and architectural methods, mapping the in situ post-industrial conditions of NGBG, the thesis explores how migrants have (re)produced infrastructures in support of their aspirations to remain in the street in face of the risk of banishment. The spatial, socio-economic, and temporal infrastructures in focus of this study reveal how migrants negotiate their right to difference and their right to the city. In the face of obstacles and limitations, spatial as well as temporal, places of belonging, care, and survival emerge otherwise. Paradoxically, however, these transformations from below have placed NGBG in the limelight of commercial development interests, intent on ‘revitalising’ the street into a hub for leisure and entertainment. Hence, migrant practices remain ‘off the map’, discursively and materially invisible in planning and design policies and practices. This thesis argues that other ways of city-making require a revision of the value systems guiding planning institutions, which engage with multiple voices and subjectivities in the pursuit of co-production and co-habitation. It suggests an architecture of associations as an epistemological and empirical project, as well as an imperative for urban design practice.

  • Tunable thin film bulk acoustic wave resonators with improved Q-factor
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Applied Physics Letters. - : AIP Publishing. - 0003-6951 .- 1077-3118. ; 96:21, s. Article Number: 212904 -
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The tunable solidly mounted Ba0.25Sr0.75TiO3 (BSTO) thin film bulk acoustic wave resonators (TFBARs) with improved Q-factor are fabricated and characterized. The BSTO films are grown by magnetron sputtering at temperature 600 degrees C and extremely low sputter gas pressure 2 mTorr using on-axis configuration. The measured TFBARs Q-factor is more than 250 and mechanical Q-factor is more than 350 at 5 GHz resonance frequency. The improvement in the Q-factor is associated with reduction in the BSTO film grain misorientation. The latter is responsible for generation of shear waves leaking through the Bragg reflector and corresponding acoustic loss. (C) 2010 American Institute of Physics.
