  • Measurements of (XcJ)-> K+K-K+K- decays
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: Physics Letters B. - : Elsevier BV. - 0370-2693 .- 1873-2445. ; 642:3, s. 197-202
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Using 14M psi(2S) events taken with the BESII detector, chi(cJ) -> 2(K+K-) decays are studied. For the four-kaon final state, the branching fractions are B(chi(c0,1,2) ->.2(K+K-)) = (3.48 +/- 0.23 +/- 0.47) x 10(-3), (0.70 +/- 0.13 +/- 0.10) x 10(-3), and (2.17 +/- 0.20 +/- 0.31) x 10(-3). For the phi K+K- final state, the branching fractions, which are measured for the first time, are B(chi(c0,1,2) -> phi K+K-) = (1.03 +/- 0.22 +/- 0.15) x 10(-3), (0.46 +/- 0.16 +/- 0.06) x 10(-3), and (1.67 +/- 0.26 +/- 0.24) x 10(-4). For the phi phi final state, B(chi(c0,2) -> phi phi) = (0.94 +/- 0.21 +/- 0.13) x 10(-3) and (1.70 +/- 0.30 +/- 0.25) x 10(-3).

  • The expression of CD97EGF and its ligand CD55 on marginal epithelium is related to higher stage and depth of tumor invasion of gastric carcinomas
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: Oncology Reports. - : Spandidos Publications. - 1021-335X .- 1791-2431. ; 14:6, s. 1413-1420
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • CD97EGF is a member of the EGF-TM7 family of class II seven-transmembrane (7TM), and its cellular ligand CD55 (also known as decay accelerating factor; DAF) protects host cells from complement attack. To determine whether the expression levels of these two molecules are correlated with the clinicopathological features of gastric carcinomas, a total of 35 gastric carcinomas and their corresponding margins and normal specimens were investigated by RT-PCR, Western blot analysis and immunohistochemistry. Transcript levels of CD97EGFand CD55 were higher in tumors than those in the margin and normal epithelial mucous tissues (P<0.05). However, the expression levels of CD97EGF and CD55 mRNA had no correlation with the clinicopathological features of gastric carcinoma patients. All three groups of specimens were immunoreactive for CD97EGF and the CD55 protein. Strong and specific immunoreactivities of CD97EGF were located in the mucosal epithelia of the marginal basal membrane. Expression of CD97(EGF) in the margins showed a marked difference between the depth of tumor invasion T1 and T2, 3 and 4, and stages I and II/III/IV of gastric carcinomas (P<0.05). The expression of CD55 protein was highly correlated with CD97EGF (R=0.6483, P<0.001). Western blot analysis confirmed the expression and distribution patterns of CD97EGF and CD55. Our findings suggest that CD97EGF may play a role in the development and invasion of gastric carcinomas by binding its cellular ligand CD55. Detection of the CD97EGF expression in the tumor margin could be referred to as the molecular edge of gastric carcinomas.

  • Photon-hadron jet correlations in p plus p and Au plus Au collisions at s(NN)=200 GeV
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C (Nuclear Physics). - 0556-2813. ; 80:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We report the observation at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider of suppression of back-to-back correlations in the direct photon+jet channel in Au+Au relative to p+p collisions. Two-particle correlations of direct photon triggers with associated hadrons are obtained by statistical subtraction of the decay photon-hadron (gamma-h) background. The initial momentum of the away-side parton is tightly constrained, because the parton-photon pair exactly balance in momentum at leading order in perturbative quantum chromodynamics, making such correlations a powerful probe of the in-medium parton energy loss. The away-side nuclear suppression factor, I-AA, in central Au+Au collisions, is 0.32 +/- 0.12(stat)+/- 0.09(syst) for hadrons of 3 < p(T)(h)< 5 in coincidence with photons of 5 < p(T)(gamma)< 15 GeV/c. The suppression is comparable to that observed for high-p(T) single hadrons and dihadrons. The direct photon associated yields in p+p collisions scale approximately with the momentum balance, z(T)equivalent to p(T)(h)/p(T)(gamma), as expected for a measurement of the away-side parton fragmentation function. We compare to Au+Au collisions for which the momentum balance dependence of the nuclear modification should be sensitive to the path-length dependence of parton energy loss.

  • A "gain of function" mutation in a protein mediates production of novel modified nucleosides.
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: EMBO Journal. - : Wiley. - 0261-4189 .- 1460-2075. ; 24:10, s. 1842-1851
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The mutation sufY204 mediates suppression of a +1 frameshift mutation in the histidine operon of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium and synthesis of two novel modified nucleosides in tRNA. The sufY204 mutation, which results in an amino-acid substitution in a protein, is, surprisingly, dominant over its wild-type allele and thus it is a "gain of function" mutation. One of the new nucleosides is 5-methylaminomethyl-2-thiouridine (mnm(5)s(2)U34) modified by addition of a C(10)H(17) side chain of unknown structure. Increased amounts of both nucleosides in tRNA are correlated to gene dosage of the sufY204 allele, to an increased efficiency of frameshift suppression, and to a decreased amount of the wobble nucleoside mnm(5)s(2)U34 in tRNA. Purified tRNA(Gln)(cmnm(5)s(2)UUG) in the mutant strain contains a modified nucleoside similar to the novel nucleosides and the level of aminoacylation of tRNA(Gln)(cmnm(5)s(2)UUG) was reduced to 26% compared to that found in the wild type (86%). The results are discussed in relation to the mechanism of reading frame maintenance and the evolution of modified nucleosides in tRNA.

  • Coffin-Mansson equation of Sn-4.0Ag-0.5Cu solder joint
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Soldering and Surface Mount Technology. - : Emerald. - 1758-6836 .- 0954-0911. ; 21:2, s. 48-54
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to fit Coffin-Manson equation of Sn-4.0Ag-0.5Cu lead free solder joint by using results of solders joint reliability test and finite element analysis. Also to present a novel device for solder joint reliability test. Design/methodology/approach: Two-points bending test of Sn-4.0Ag-0.5Cu lead free solder joint was carried out at three deflection levels by using a special bending tester that can control displacement exactly by a cam system. The failure criterion was defined as resistance of solder joint getting 10 percent increase. The X-section was done for all failure samples to observe crack initiation and propagation in solder joint. Finite element analysis was presented with ANSYS for obtaining shear strain range, analyzing distribution of stress and strain and supporting experimental results. Findings: The experimental results indicate that the fatigue life decreased obviously with the displacement increased. By using optical microscope and SEM photographs, two kinds of failure mode were found in solder joint. The majority failure mode took place at the bottom corner of solder joint under the termination of resistor initially, and propagated into the solder matrix. Another failure mode was delamination. It appeared at the interface between the termination of resistor and its ceramic body. The distribution status of stress and strain in solder joint and the calculation results of shear strain range at different deflection levels were obtained from simulation result. The Coffin-Manson equation of Sn-4.0Ag-0.5Cu lead free solder joint was fitted by combining experimental data with result of finite element analysis. Originality/value: This paper presents Coffin-Manson equation of Sn-4.0Ag-0.5Cu solder joint with two-points bending test. An effective and economical device was designed and applied.

  • Texture Evolution in Heavily Cold-Rolled FeCo-2V Alloy during Annealing
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: JOURNAL OF MATERIALS SCIENCE and TECHNOLOGY. - 1005-0302. ; 25:2, s. 219-224
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The recrystallization texture evolution in heavily cold-rolled (93%) FeCo-2V alloy with annealing temperature and time was investigated by X-ray diffraction and electron backscatter diffraction. It was found that the orientation density of a-fiber texture component fluctuates with increasing annealing temperature and time. The transmission electron microscopy images show that abundant precipitates appear inside the recrystallized grains and around the grain boundaries. The amount and size of the precipitates also vary with annealing temperature and time. The enhancement of the a-fiber coincides well with the increase of number density of fine precipitates, indicating that the fine precipitates facilitate the development of a-fiber. The annealing texture evolution observed in the FeCo alloy could be attributed to the facilitating effect of the precipitates on the development of a-fiber and the ordering process.

  • Arsenic trioxide reduces the invasive and metastatic properties of nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells in vitro
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: Brazilian journal of medical and biological research. - 0100-879X .- 1414-431X. ; 39:5, s. 677-685
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is notorious for the metastases, which are in close association with Epstein-Barr virus-encoded latent membrane protein 1 (LMP1). Arsenic trioxide (As2O3) has been shown to induce apoptosis and differentiation in NPC xenografts. Then, can it repress the cancer cells' metastasis potential? To elucidate this issue, the present study was performed. LMP1-negative cell line HNE1 and LMP1-positive cell line HNE1-LMP1 were used as in vitro model. Cells (1 × 105/mL) were cultured with or without 3 μM As2O3 for 48 h. Then the survival cells were collected to investigate their potential of colony formation, attachment, invasion, and migration. Both confocal immunofluorescence staining and Western blot were used to detect the changes of LMP1 expression. The changes of MMP-9 were examined by RT-PCR assay and Western blot. The results were as follow: i) the colony formation inhibition rate (75.41 ± 3.9% in HNE1-LMP1 cells vs 37.89 ± 4.9% in HNE1 cells), the rate of attachment (HNE1-LMP1 vs HNE1: 56.40 ± 3.5 vs 65.87 ± 5.9%), the invasion inhibitory rate (HNE1-LMP1 vs HNE1: 56.50 ± 3.7 and 27.91 ± 2.1%), and the migration inhibitory rate (HNE1-LMP1 vs HNE1: 48.70 ± 3.9 vs 29.19 ± 6.27%) were all significantly different between the two cell lines (P < 0.01). ii) LMP1 was down-regulated in As2O3-treated HNE1-LMP1 cells. iii) The reduction of MMP-9 was found in As2O3-treated groups, more evident in HNE1-LMP1 cells. Thus, we conclude that As2O3 can reduce metastasis potential of NPC cells, involving inhibition of MMP-9 expression. LMP1 were also reduced in this process and seemed to enhance anti-metastasis activity of As2O3. © 2006 Brazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research.

  • Influence of π-Conjugation Units in Organic Dyes for Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: The Journal of Physical Chemistry C. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 1932-7447 .- 1932-7455. ; 111:4, s. 1853-1860
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Two organic dyes with the general structure donor-conjugated chain-acceptor (D-pi-A) have been investigated as sensitizers for nanocrystalline TiO2 solar cells. The electron donor and acceptor groups were pyrrolidine and cyano acrylic acid, respectively. The conjugated chain of 2-cyano-3-{5-[2-(4-pyrrolidin-1-ylphenyl)vinyl]thiophen-2-yl}acrylic acid contains one phenyl ring and a thiophene unit and is therefore denoted PT, while for 2-cyano-3-{5 -[2-(5-pyrrolidin-1-ylthiophen-2-yl)vinyl]thiophen-2-yl}acrylic acid the phenyl ring is replaced by a second thiophene unit (TT). Solar-to-electrical energy conversion efficiencies under simulated AM 1.5 irradiation (1000 W m(-2)) of 2.3% were obtained for solar cells based on PT but of less than 0.05% for those based on TT. The reasons for the dramatic difference of the efficiencies were analyzed. Photoinduced absorption measurements revealed that the TT dye was not properly regenerated by redox electrolyte after electron injection. This sluggish regeneration is probably due to the 0.3 V less positive HOMO level for TT dye compared to the PT dye, resulting in a lower driving force for regeneration of the oxidized dye by iodide in the electrolyte. In addition, regeneration of the oxidized TT dye and electron injection from the excited TT dye may be poor due to formation of dye aggregates/complexes, as FT-IR measurements show an excess of not properly and/or unidentate bound TT dye molecules instead of bidentate bound PT dye molecules. The results highlight that small structural change of dyes results in significant changes in redox energies and binding features, affecting dramatically the performance of these dyes in dye-sensitized solar cells.

  • The Wobble hypothesis revisited : Uridine-5-oxyacetic acid is critical for reading of G-ending codons
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: RNA. - : Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. - 1355-8382 .- 1469-9001. ; 13:12, s. 2151-2164
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • According to Crick's wobble hypothesis, tRNAs with uridine at the wobble position (position 34) recognize A- and G-, but not U- or C-ending codons. However, U in the wobble position is almost always modified, and Salmonella enterica tRNAs containing the modified nucleoside uridine-5-oxyacetic acid (cmo5U34) at this position are predicted to recognize U- (but not C-) ending codons, in addition to A- and G-ending codons. We have constructed a set of S. enterica mutants with only the cmo5U-containing tRNA left to read all four codons in the proline, alanine, valine, and threonine family codon boxes. From the phenotypes of these mutants, we deduce that the proline, alanine, and valine tRNAs containing cmo5U read all four codons including the C-ending codons, while the corresponding threonine tRNA does not. A cmoB mutation, leading to cmo5U deficiency in tRNA, was introduced. Monitoring A-site selection rates in vivo revealed that the presence of cmo5U34 stimulated the reading of CCU and CCC (Pro), GCU (Ala), and GUC (Val) codons. Unexpectedly, cmo5U is critical for efficient decoding of G-ending Pro, Ala, and Val codons. Apparently, whereas G34 pairs with U in mRNA, the reverse pairing (U34-G) requires a modification of U34.
