  • H2 - Ecological source of decarbonization - The path to energy independence of Ukraine
  • 2023
  • Bok (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The research studied the pressing problem of the fuel and energy strategy of the XXI century. For the first time, there was shown the diversity of the authors' approach to theoretical and applied problems of hydrogen energy. General issues of fundamental and applied aspects of hydrogen origin were covered. The study provides the results of scientific developments on hydrogen mapping performed within the framework of scientific and practical exploratory and geo-ecological research on more than 200 hydrocarbon objects both on land (including mining fields) and in marine water areas. Prognostic and search system criteria were substantiated, with hydrogen being used for the first time as a component of the complex of methodical solutions in the search practice. The research showed the importance of solving the problem of geo-ecological processes and accidents in mine workings and wells, connected to numerous disasters. According to numerous studies of mine massives, a set of preventive measures and criteria that prevent explosive processes was provided. The presence of a unique complex of natural components of hydrogen technology, solar and wind energy resources and fresh waters of the Danube lakes and the Danube was stated. The study emphasises the decisive role of Ukraine in the competition for primacy in scientific developments. For the first time in world practice, the implementation of global projects for the extraction and production of green and white hydrogen was substantiated. The technology was tested on numerous hydrocarbon deposits, water resources and mine workings and therefore has all the prospects for the effective application in the search and extraction of hydrogen. This monograph can be useful and informative for specialists in the fields of oil and gas geology, general and regional geology, hydrology, environmental protection, as well as for the students and postgraduate students of fuel and energy, oil and gas geological and hydrological areas, as well as for domestic and foreign investors.

  • Outshining in the spatially resolved analysis of a strongly lensed galaxy at z = 6.072 with JWST NIRCam
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: Astronomy and Astrophysics. - 0004-6361 .- 1432-0746. ; 686
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present JWST/NIRCam observations of a strongly lensed, sub-L∗, multiply imaged galaxy at z=6.072, with magnification factors μ³20 across the galaxy. The galaxy has rich HST, MUSE, and ALMA ancillary observations across a broad wavelength range. Aiming to quantify the reliability of stellar mass estimates of high redshift galaxies, we performed a spatially resolved analysis of the physical properties at scales of ~200 pc, inferred from spectral energy distribution (SED) modelling of five JWST/NIRCam imaging bands covering 0.16 μm < λrest < 0.63 μm on a pixel-by-pixel basis. We find young stars surrounded by extended older stellar populations. By comparing Hα+[Nâ¯II] and [Oâ¯III]+Hβ maps inferred from the image analysis with our additional NIRSpec integral field unit (IFU) data, we find that the spatial distribution and strength of the line maps are in agreement with the IFU measurements. We explore different parametric star formation history (SFH) forms with BAGPIPES on the spatially integrated photometry, finding that a double power-law (DPL) star formation history retrieves the closest value to the spatially resolved stellar mass estimate, and other SFH forms suffer from the dominant outshining emission from the youngest stars, thus underestimating the stellar mass - up to ~0.5 dex. On the other hand, the DPL cannot match the IFU-measured emission lines. Additionally, the ionising photon production efficiency may be overestimated in a spatially integrated approach by ~0.15 dex, when compared to a spatially resolved analysis. The agreement with the IFU measurements implies that our pixel-by-pixel results derived from the broadband images are robust, and that the mass discrepancies we find with spatially integrated estimates are not just an effect of SED-fitting degeneracies or the lack of NIRCam coverage. Additionally, this agreement points towards the pixel-by-pixel approach as a way to mitigate the general degeneracy between the flux excess from emission lines and underlying continuum, especially when lacking photometric medium-band coverage and/or IFU observations. This study stresses the importance of studying galaxies as the complex systems that they are, resolving their stellar populations when possible, or using more flexible SFH parameterisations. This can aid our understanding of the early stages of galaxy evolution by addressing the challenge of inferring robust stellar masses and ionising photon production efficiencies of high redshift galaxies.

  • A detailed luminescence chronology of the Lower Volga loess-palaeosol sequence at Leninsk
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Quaternary Geochronology. - : Elsevier. - 1871-1014 .- 1878-0350. ; 73
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present a detailed luminescence chronology of the loess-palaeosol sequences in the Lower Volga region of Russia at the Leninsk site – an important palaeogeographic archive describing the climate and environmental conditions of regressive stages of the Caspian Sea. The chronology of these sediments has received very little attention compared to the under- and overlying marine deposits. The degree of bleaching was addressed by making use of the differential resetting rates of quartz and feldspar. Our results show that the quartz OSL and feldspar pIRIR50,290 signals were sufficiently bleached before deposition and uncertainties in bleaching have a negligible impact on the reliability of the luminescence ages. The combined quartz OSL and K-feldspar pIRIR50,290 chronology constrains the main stages of the Northern Caspian Lowland evolution during the Late Quaternary. During early MIS 5 (130–120 ka), the northern part of the Lower Volga was covered by a shallow brackish water estuary of the warm Late Khazarian Caspian Sea transgression. After ∼122 ka, the Volga incised the Northern Caspian Lowland surface following sea-level decrease and the start of subaerial conditions at Leninsk. Loess accumulation rate increased towards the end of MIS 5 and two palaeosols of presumably MIS 5с and MIS 5a age formed, exhibiting features evidencing a dry, cold climate, influenced by long seasonal flooding by the Volga River. Cryogenesis affecting the MIS 5a soil is a regional phenomenon and is dated to between ∼70 and 90 ka. The overlying thick Atelian loess unit formed during the cold periods of MIS 4 and MIS 3. Clear erosional features at the top of the Atelian loess are constrained by luminescence to ∼35 to ∼24 ka, allowing reconstruction of erosion of 150–200 cm of loess.
