  • The Fourteenth Data Release of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey : First Spectroscopic Data from the Extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey and from the Second Phase of the Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series. - : IOP Publishing Ltd. - 0067-0049 .- 1538-4365. ; 235:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The fourth generation of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-IV) has been in operation since 2014 July. This paper describes the second data release from this phase, and the 14th from SDSS overall (making this Data Release Fourteen or DR14). This release makes the data taken by SDSS-IV in its first two years of operation (2014-2016 July) public. Like all previous SDSS releases, DR14 is cumulative, including the most recent reductions and calibrations of all data taken by SDSS since the first phase began operations in 2000. New in DR14 is the first public release of data from the extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey; the first data from the second phase of the Apache Point Observatory (APO) Galactic Evolution Experiment (APOGEE-2), including stellar parameter estimates from an innovative data-driven machine-learning algorithm known as "The Cannon"; and almost twice as many data cubes from the Mapping Nearby Galaxies at APO (MaNGA) survey as were in the previous release (N = 2812 in total). This paper describes the location and format of the publicly available data from the SDSS-IV surveys. We provide references to the important technical papers describing how these data have been taken (both targeting and observation details) and processed for scientific use. The SDSS web site (www.sdss.org) has been updated for this release and provides links to data downloads, as well as tutorials and examples of data use. SDSS-IV is planning to continue to collect astronomical data until 2020 and will be followed by SDSS-V.

  • Genetic analysis of over 1 million people identifies 535 new loci associated with blood pressure traits.
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Nature Genetics. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1061-4036 .- 1546-1718. ; 50:10, s. 1412-1425
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • High blood pressure is a highly heritable and modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular disease. We report the largest genetic association study of blood pressure traits (systolic, diastolic and pulse pressure) to date in over 1 million people of European ancestry. We identify 535 novel blood pressure loci that not only offer new biological insights into blood pressure regulation but also highlight shared genetic architecture between blood pressure and lifestyle exposures. Our findings identify new biological pathways for blood pressure regulation with potential for improved cardiovascular disease prevention in the future.

  • Covalently linking CuInS2 quantum dots with a Re catalyst by click reaction for photocatalytic CO2 reduction
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Dalton Transactions. - : Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). - 1477-9226 .- 1477-9234. ; 47:31, s. 10775-10783
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Covalently linking photosensitizers and catalysts in an inorganic-organic hybrid photocatalytic system is beneficial for efficient electron transfer between these components. However, general and straightforward methods to covalently attach molecular catalysts on the surface of inorganic semiconductors are rare. In this work, a classic rhenium bipyridine complex (Re catalyst) has been successfully covalently linked to the low toxicity CuInS2 quantum dots (QDs) by click reaction for photocatalytic CO2 reduction. Covalent bonding between the CuInS2 QDs and the Re catalyst in the QD-Re hybrid system is confirmed by UV-visible absorption spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray measurements. Time-correlated single photon counting and ultrafast time-resolved infrared spectroscopy provide evidence for rapid photo-induced electron transfer from the QDs to the Re catalyst. Upon photo-excitation of the QDs, the singly reduced Re catalyst is formed within 300 fs. Notably, the amount of reduced Re in the linked hybrid system is more than that in a sample where the QDs and the Re catalyst are simply mixed, suggesting that the covalent linkage between the CuInS2 QDs and the Re catalyst indeed facilitates electron transfer from the QDs to the Re catalyst. Such an ultrafast electron transfer in the covalently linked CuInS2 QD-Re hybrid system leads to enhanced photocatalytic activity for CO2 reduction, as compared to the conventional mixture of the QDs and the Re catalyst.

  • Neutralizing Antibodies Inhibit Chikungunya Virus Budding at the Plasma Membrane
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Cell Host and Microbe. - : Cell Press. - 1931-3128 .- 1934-6069. ; 24:3, s. 417-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Neutralizing antibodies (NAbs) are traditionally thought to inhibit virus infection by preventing virion entry into target cells. In addition, antibodies can engage Fc receptors (FcRs) on immune cells to activate antiviral responses. We describe a mechanism by which NAbs inhibit chikungunya virus (CHIKV), the most common alphavirus infecting humans, by preventing virus budding from infected human cells and activating IgG-specific Fc gamma receptors. NAbs bind to CHIKV glycoproteins on the infected cell surface and induce glycoprotein coalescence, preventing budding of nascent virions and leaving structurally heterogeneous nucleocapsids arrested in the cytosol. Furthermore, NAbs induce clustering of CHIKV replication spherules at sites of budding blockage. Functionally, these densely packed glycoprotein-NAb complexes on infected cells activate Fc gamma receptors, inducing a strong, antibody-dependent, cell-mediated cytotoxicity response from immune effector cells. Our findings describe a triply functional antiviral pathway for NAbs that might be broadly applicable across virus-host systems, suggesting avenues for therapeutic innovation through antibody design.

  • Novel insight into the epitaxial growth mechanism of six-fold symmetrical beta-Co(OH)(2)/Co(OH)F hierarchical hexagrams and their water oxidation activity
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Electrochimica Acta. - : Elsevier BV. - 0013-4686 .- 1873-3859. ; 271, s. 526-536
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The six-fold symmetry widely presents in both natural and artificial architectures. Understanding the growth mechanism of six-fold symmetrical materials is of fundamental interest and significance. Herein, we report the formation process of beta-Co(OH)(2)/Co(OH)F hierarchical hexagrams with a six-fold symmetrical arrangement. Our results demonstrate that hexagonal beta-Co(OH)(2) plates are first formed under the reaction condition. These hexagonal plates then act as templates for the growth of Co(OH)F nanorods. The intermediate material is therefore composed of plate-like beta-Co(OH)(2) hexagonal cores appended with six rod-like Co(OH)F branches, giving the beta-Co(OH)(2)/Co(OH)F hybrid. After prolonged reaction, the beta-Co(OH)(2) hexagons can be completely converted, leading to authentic six-branched Co(OH)F nanorods as the final product. Consequently, for both intermediate and final materials, the Co(OH)F nanorods are arranged with a six-fold symmetry. Importantly, these Co(OH)F nanorods grow along beta-Co(OH)(2) hexagon edges as lateral branches instead of perpendicular to hexagons. This uncommon epitaxial growth mechanism is considered to be a result of the matching between the b-axis of Co(OH)F crystals and the a-axis of beta-Co(OH)(2) crystals, which is beneficial for the electrocatalysis. The beta-Co(OH)(2)/Co(OH)F hierarchical hexagrams show enhanced water oxidation activity compared to the pure beta-Co(OH)(2) and Co(OH)F.

  • Spillover systems in a telecoupled Anthropocene : typology, methods, and governance for global sustainability
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Current Opinion in Environmental Sustainability. - : Elsevier BV. - 1877-3435. ; 33, s. 58-69
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The world has become increasingly telecoupled through distant flows of information, energy, people, organisms, goods, and matter. Recent advances suggest that telecouplings such as trade and species invasion often generate spillover systems with profound effects. To untangle spillover complexity, we make the first attempt to develop a typology of spillover systems based on six criteria: flows from and to sending and receiving systems, distances from sending and receiving systems, types of spillover effects, sizes of spillover systems, roles of agents in spillover systems, and the origin of spillover systems. Furthermore, we highlight a portfolio of qualitative and quantitative methods for detecting the often-overlooked spillover systems. To effectively govern spillover systems for global sustainability, we propose an overall goal (minimize negative and maximize positive spillover effects) and three general principles (fairness, responsibility, and capability).

  • Observation of Interpenetration Isomerism in Covalent Organic Frameworks
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Journal of the American Chemical Society. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 0002-7863 .- 1520-5126. ; 140:22, s. 6763-6766
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We report herein the first example of interpenetration isomerism in covalent organic frameworks (COFs). As a well-known three-dimensional (3D) COF, COF-300 was synthesized and characterized by the Yaghi group in 2009 as a 5-fold interpenetrated diamond structure (dia-cS topology). We found that adding an aging process prior to the reported synthetic procedure afforded the formation of an interpenetration isomer, dia-c7 COF-300. The 7-fold interpenetrated diamond structure of this new isomer was identified by powder Xray diffraction and rotation electron diffraction analyses. Furthermore, we proposed a universal formula to accurately determine the number of interpenetration degrees of dia-based COFs from only the unit cell parameters and the length of the organic linker. This work not only provides a novel example to the category of interpenetration isomerism but also provides new insights for the further development of 3D COFs.

  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Geospatial Technologies for All : short papers, posters and poster abstracts of the 21th AGILE Conference on Geographic Information Science. Lund University 12-15 June 2018, Lund, Sweden - short papers, posters and poster abstracts of the 21th AGILE Conference on Geographic Information Science. • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The sharing of digital information between phases in the planning and building process still have shortcomings. Ourstudy is performed as a test case on a construction project in a municipality and focuses on two aspects of how the sharing of building information could be improved: 1) to get a more process oriented approach to the information flow. Here we will test if the ISO-standard Product Lifecycle Support (PLCS) can be used to enhance the lifecycle information for 3D geodata building data. 2) to evaluate the quality of the data to ensure that it is suitable to its purpose. The quality aspects need to be considered and evaluated both during data collection and through the whole construction lifecycle.
