- Under fyra års tid har jag bedrivit forskning om systemförvaltning.Baserat på den teori jag utvecklat och praktiska erfarenheter har jag, tillsammans med Tommy Welander tagit fram en referensmodell för systemförvaltning.När det gäller att lyckas med systemförvaltningen, har det visat sig att ett antal faktorer är viktigare än andra.Vi kallar dem för framgångsfaktorer, och de är sextill antalet:projektifiera systemförvaltningen, förvalta informationssystem, klargör ansvarsroller, skapa affärsmässighet och positionera systemförvaltningen. I pappret beskrivs dessa framgångsfaktorer.

A Strategy for Organisational Knowledge Evolution

- In this paper, a strategy for organisational knowledge evolution is presented. Organisational knowledge is defined as knowledge concerning the management of the artefacts provided by the organisation. The strategy is derived from a theoretical, action-oriented representation of knowledge and uses concrete instruments for iterating between reflection and action. The instruments for reflection are conceptual models and information flow diagrams. The instrument for action is an object oriented information management system, where the models are implemented and tried out in practise. By applying these instruments iteratively, organisational knowledge is generated, both as individual and shared knowledge among the actors, as well as objectified knowledge represented by the models and the implemented information management system. We describe how this strategy has been used at the Ericsson telecommunication company to handle the transition to a new software development model. The transition was complicated by the fact that Ericsson has many designers (more than 10 000) working at local design centres all over the world. Our experience shows that the proposed strategy is a powerful way to quickly acquire, deploy and manifest new organisational knowledge

Incremental development for AXE 10

- To become more reactive and flexible to the market needs, i.e. shorter lead-times and more flexibility in handling late and changing requirements, Ericsson’s AXE 10 development processes have been adapted to support incremental development. The basic principle is to develop each of the customer features in one executable and testable increment. In order to plan, coordinate and control projects executed in this way, an Incremental Development Method Package, IDMP, has been developed by UAB in close cooperation with support groups in development projects. In this paper, we define what we mean with incremental development and describe the main aspects of the package. We also report experiences from using the package in the CMS 30 phase 7 and HELIOS projects. A prototype tool which supports the package is described, together with the experiences from using the tool in the pilot project Combined Gateway. Even if the IDMP has been developed towards AXE 10, it has proven useful in non AXE 10 projects, as the principles are rather independent of development process.

The Dialectical Approach to System Design

- This paper describes an approach to system design called the dialectical. In this approach, the design and its environment, including the people involved, are assumed to form an inseparable whole. The whole and its parts are subject to interaction and change throughout the entire design process. Using this approach, a number of aspects of system design are covered, and a model for design processes is presented. An example from the design of telecom equipments using this model is given.
