    • Raoul Wallenberg is widely remembered for his humanitarian activity on behalf of the Hungarian Jews in Budapest at the end of World War II, and known as the Swedish diplomat who disappeared into the Soviet Gulag in 1945. Today, Wallenberg’s example is used to communicate humanitarian values and human rights in many democratic societies. His story incorporates a classical hero narrative which has survived the ‘un-heroic’ 20th century.In 2008, there exist thirty-one Wallenberg monuments in twelve countries on five continents, from Hungary to Sweden, from Canada to Chile, from Australia to Russia. The rich diversity of the monuments invites to discuss the different concepts of Wallenberg and heroism as expressed in the artists’ works. The art-historical focus of this interdisciplinary study makes it a valuable contribution to the discussion of personal monuments, as well as to the socio-historical research on the commemoration of Wallenberg and the concept of the hero.

    • The main objectives of this chapter is to present the musical education of the students of the Music Teaching Course at UDESC, to contribute to the debate about the education of music teachers and, in consequence, to support the reforms of Music Licentiate Programs. Data collection was made by questionnaires, focus interviews and written documents. The results that were obtained shows that: most of students were men and the average age was 21 years; most of them had studied music before they registered in the Music Teaching Course and the attraction to music was the main reason for choosing their carrier; classical guitar, voice and electric guitar were the main instruments of the students; rock and roll, classical music and Brazilian popular music were  their musical preferences. The information that was collected will help to change some of the aspects of the political and pedagogical scheme of the Music Teaching Course.

    • An analysis of pedagogical projects of music teacher education. This article presents the analysis of fifteen pedagogical projects of music teacher education in Brazil, aiming to understand the educational process, contribute to the field of curriculum studies in Music Education and to the development of educational quality. It begins by reflecting on the study object as part of music pedagogical research. Then it describes the methodological procedures used and presents the results based on aspects such as curriculum organization, goals and structure. Finally, it discusses the identity of the programs, suggesting educational alternatives as well as future research studies.
