  • Mchf Calculations For Atomic Properties
  • 1994
  • Ingår i: Computer Physics Communications. - 0010-4655. ; 84:1-3, s. 37-58
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A historical review of the early development of Hartree-Fock and Multiconfiguration Hartree-Fock theories is presented. After the underlying theory is summarized, some recent results from the application of these methods to the prediction of atomic properties are described. These include total energies, transition probabilities, autoionization rates, specific mass shifts, and hyperfine parameters. In each case, large-scale, systematic procedures are used to show the convergence of the theoretically predicted results.

  • A Program For Computing Magnetic Dipole and Electric Quadrupole Hyperfine Constants From Mchf Wave-functions
  • 1993
  • Ingår i: Computer Physics Communications. - : Elsevier BV. - 0010-4655. ; 74:3, s. 399-414
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Given an electronic wave function, generated by the MCHF program (LS format) or the MCHF_CI program (LSJ format), this program computes the hyperfine interaction constants, A(J) and B(J). In strong experimental magnetic fields, the splitting is also affected by the off-diagonal hyperfine constants A(J,J-1), B(J,J-1), and B(J,J-2) and these are computed as well, depending on the input data.

  • Pattern recognition in high energy physics with artificial neural networks - JETNET 2.0
  • 1992
  • Ingår i: Computer Physics Communications. - 0010-4655. ; 70:1, s. 167-182
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A F77 package of adaptive artificial neural network algorithms, JETNET 2.0, is presented. Its primary target is the high energy physics community, but it is general enough to be used in any pattern-recognition application area. The basic ingredients are the multilayer perceptron back-propagation algorithm and the topological self-organizing map. The package consists of a set of subroutines, which can either be used with standard options or be easily modified to host alternative architectures and procedures.

  • Self-organizing networks for extracting jet features
  • 1991
  • Ingår i: Computer Physics Communications. - 0010-4655. ; 67:2, s. 193-209
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Self-organizing neural networks are briefly reviewed and compared with supervised learning algorithms like back-propagation. The power of self-organization networks is in their capability of displaying typical features in a transparent manner. This is successfully demonstrated with two applications from hadronic jet physics; hadronization model discrimination and separation of b, c and light quarks.

  • Extensions and explorations of the elastic arms algorithm
  • 1993
  • Ingår i: Computer Physics Communications. - : Elsevier BV. - 0010-4655. ; 77:1, s. 19-32
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The deformable templates method for track finding in high energy physics is reviewed and extended to handle multiple and secondary vertex positions. An automatized minimization method that handles different types of parametrizations is derived. It is based on the gradient descent method but modified with an explicit calculation of the natural metric. Also a simplified and more intuitive derivation of the algorithm using Potts mean field theory equations is given.

  • Track finding with deformable templates - the elastic arms approach
  • 1992
  • Ingår i: Computer Physics Communications. - : Elsevier BV. - 0010-4655. ; 71:1-2, s. 77-98
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A novel algorithm for particle tracking is presented and evaluated. It is based on deformable templates that converge using a deterministic annealing algorithm. These deformable templates are initialized by Hough transforms. The algorithm, which effectively represents a merger between neuronic decision making and parameter fitting, naturally lends itself to parallel execution. Very good performance is obtained for both non-magnetic and magnetic tracks. For the latter simulated TPC tracks from the CERN DELPHI detector are used.

  • JETNET 3.0-A versatile artificial neural network package
  • 1994
  • Ingår i: Computer Physics Communications. - : Elsevier BV. - 0010-4655. ; 81:1-2, s. 185-220
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • An F77 package for feed-forward artificial neural network data processing, JETNET 3.0, is presented. It represents a substantial extension and generalization of an earlier release, JETNET 2.0. The package, which consists of a set of subroutines, is focused on multilayer perceptron architectures. As compared to earlier versions it contains a variety of minimization options, measures for monitoring the learning process, limited precision emulation, etc. Also, the reader is provided with a set of guidelines for when to use the different options.

  • Delta 2.0 - A program for finding dependencies in tables of data
  • 1994
  • Ingår i: Computer Physics Communications. - : Elsevier BV. - 0010-4655. ; 83:2-3, s. 293-306
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A package written in C for identifying variable dependencies in tables of data is presented. The key ingredient is the δ-test, which establishes dependency structures by exploiting the properties of continuous functions using conditional probabilities formed out of the data. The method estimates most relevant variables, embedding dimensions and noise levels. The program, which is self-contained, also includes optional graphical output.

  • 1993
  • Ingår i: Computer Physics Communications. - : Elsevier BV. - 0010-4655. ; 74:3, s. 432-440
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The MCHF_LSGEN program systematically generates coupled configuration states needed for accurate MCHF studies. All possible couplings and configuration states are made of multi-replacements from several reference sets.

  • QCD on the Connection Machine: Beyond-Lisp
  • 1991
  • Ingår i: Computer Physics Communications. - 0010-4655 .- 1879-2944. ; 65, s. 39-51
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    •  We report on the status of code development for a simulation of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) with dynamical Wilson fermions on the Connection Machine model CM-2. Our original code, written in * Lisp, gave performance in the near-GFLOPS range. We have rewritten the most time-consuming parts of the code in the low-level programming system CMIS, including the matrix multiply and the communication. Current versions of the code run at approximately 3.6 GFLOPS for the fermion matrix inversion, and we expect the next version to reach or exceed 5 GFLOPS.
