  • α-decay half-lives new semi-empirical relationship including asymmetry, angular momentum and shell effects
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Physics A. - : Elsevier BV. - 0375-9474. ; 1021
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present a modified version of the semi-empirical formula SemFIS, which is based on the fission theory for predicting the alpha decay half-lives. The first version of SemFIS was found by D. N. Poenaru et al. and was at that time the best formula to predict the alpha-decay half-lives of superheavy nuclei among 18 different existing models. We compare a modified version of SemFIS against the old version and experimental data for four groups of alpha emitters: even-even; even-odd; odd-even, and odd-odd parent nuclei. Two sets of experimental values are used: set A, and set B. There are 356 nuclides in set A [137 e-e, 90 e-o, 66 o-e, and 63 o-o with Zmin, Zmax of (52,118); (52,112); (63,117), and (53,117), and Amin, Amax of (108,294); (107,281); (147,293), and (110,294), respectively]. Set B includes 420 α-emitters [144 e-e, 112 e-o, 84 o-e, and 80 o-o] with Zmin, Zmax of (52,118); (52,116); (53,117), and (53,117), and Amin, Amax of (106,294); (105,293);(111,293) and (110,294)]. Our study shows that the modified version of SemFIS gives better agreements with the experimental data than previously published versions.

  • Dynamics of critical fluctuations : Theory - phenomenology - heavy-ion collisions
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Physics A. - : ELSEVIER. - 0375-9474 .- 1873-1554. ; 1003
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This report summarizes the presentations and discussions during the Rapid Reaction Task Force "Dynamics of critical fluctuations: Theory - phenomenology - heavy-ion collisions", which was organized by the ExtreMe Matter Institute EMMI and held at GSI, Darmstadt, Germany in April 2019. We address the current understanding of the dynamics of critical fluctuations in QCD and their measurement in heavy-ion collision experiments. In addition, we outline what might be learned from studying correlations in other physical systems, such as cold atomic gases.

  • The Angantyr model for heavy ions in Pythia8
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Physics A. - : Elsevier BV. - 0375-9474. ; 1005
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Pythia8 is the only general purpose event generator able to produce complete fully exclusive hadronic final states in collisions involving heavy ions. The model that allows this is called Angantyr and will be discussed in this contribution. The contribution also discusses models based on interactions between strings in an extention of the Lund model that are able to describe some collective effects in proton–proton collisions. In particular, a reformulation of the so-called shoving will be described, which also works for heavy ion collisions as generated by the Angantyr model. Preliminary results for the ridge effects are presented for proton–proton and proton–lead collisions.

  • An analytical description of the parity-doublet structure in an odd-A nucleus
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Physics A. - : Elsevier BV. - 0375-9474. ; 1013
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper, we discuss an analytical description of a parity-doublet structure for an odd-A nucleus. We use the controlled single particle (CSP) concept to present the analytical model. In a parity-doublet structure, those bands consisting of states with opposite positive and negative parity appear. At first glance, it seems complex to present an analytical description, but the CSP concept enables us to present an analytical description of such an event. The calculated results are compared to the experimental data of Pm151, and there is a good agreement with calculated and experimental results.

  • Extended universal decay law formula for the alpha and cluster decays
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Physics A. - : Elsevier BV. - 0375-9474 .- 1873-1554. ; 1013
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Universal Decay Law (UDL) formula for the alpha and cluster decays is extended to include the effects of the angular momentum and isospin. The parameters for all formulas are obtained by fitting to available experimental data. We also evaluated the uncertainty of the parameters as well as the uncertainties of predictions of the formulas. The rms values are computed and the best rms among them is obtained for the formula including both the angular momentum and isospin terms. The modified UDL formula is applied to get the half-lives of cluster and alpha decays of nuclei. Branching ratios (alpha/cluster) are calculated and compared with experimental ones. The half-lives for heavier cluster decays are obtained by using UDL and new UDL formulas.
