  • A Critical Review of Lighting Design and Asset Management Strategies. Illuminating Practices and Lessons Learned for Swedish Public Libraries
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physics, Conference Series. - : Institute of Physics (IOP). - 1742-6588 .- 1742-6596. ; 2654:1
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Most lighting is only designed to meet the visual needs in most public library environments in Sweden. Although lighting-related impacts are relevant to six Unite Nations sustainability goals, some important lighting considerations, such as circadian phase disruption, mode and productivity impact, and energy-efficient operation, are missing in current lighting operating practices. Moreover, most of the current lighting asset management practice in public buildings remains "fix it if only it breaks". With respect to people-centric health factors, visual index, and lighting asset energy-efficient operation, this study sublimates lighting into a new perspective. Finally, the suggested comprehensive lighting operating strategies integrating digital twins can help designers and operators in defining the optimal design/control strategy in public-built environments, like public library. Digital twin-based decision-making is expected to be applied to lighting design and control in public spaces that improves visual acuity and comfort, positively impact mood and productivity, and provides recommendations on engagement principles under Environment Social Governance (ESG) framework to asset manager/operators.

  • Earthen slope stability using dimensional analysis
  • 2021. - 1
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physics: Conference Series. - : IOP Publishing. - 1742-6588 .- 1742-6596. ; 1895
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Slope stability is an important aspect in the management of civil engineering projects. The stability of earth slopes is a significant concern for safety and the economy. There are several methods for finding the safety factor. Spencer's method is considered one of the most accurate methods for calculating the factor of safety but it depends on the others on dividing the slope geometry into the number of slices with complicated calculations. This paper introduced a new theoretical equation (using dimensional analysis) capable of defining and testing the slope stability of the natural and man-made slope of the earth without complicated calculations. The major and significant variables which affect and contribute to the stability of a slope will be listed and discussed. The Geo-SLOPE and SEEP software were used to present the stability analyses of the earth dam and compare the result. The derived equation shows the excellent relationship between the factor of safety concerning the ratio of internal friction angle over slope angle ∅/α and the hydraulic gradient. The main objective is to set a new rapid method for checking the stability of slopes instead of a complex calculation that can describe the slope stability of the natural earth slope.

  • Deepening into the nucleation and fission processes of nano-hydrated ammonia clusters - A combined theoretical and experimental study
  • 2020. - 20
  • Ingår i: Clusters / Nanosystems / Surfaces / Solids. - : IOP Publishing. - 1742-6588. ; 1412
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • While largely studied in the macroscopic scale, the dynamics leading to the nucleation and fission of atmospheric aerosols are very poorly understood at the nano or molecular scale. A model system consisting on ionized hydrogen-bonded ammonia and water molecules have been studied experimentally using mass- and 3D momentum spectroscopy and theoretically using ab initio molecular dynamics simulations.

  • Fano's propensity rule in angle-resolved attosecond interferometry
  • 2020. - 7
  • Ingår i: Attosecond Physics. - : IOP Publishing. - 1742-6588. ; 1412
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Above-threshold ionization is a corner stone of attsecond science. In this work we extend Fano's propensity rule to two-photon above-threshold ionization and show that the asymmetry between absorption and emission of the second photon predicted by this propensity rule has strong implications for angle-resolved pump-probe experiments and in particular for attosecond photoelectron interferometry.

  • Commissioning of the CALIFA Barrel Calorimeter of the R 3 B Experiment at FAIR
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physics: Conference Series. - : IOP Publishing. - 1742-6588 .- 1742-6596. ; 1667:1
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • CALIFA is the high efficiency and energy resolution calorimeter for the R3B experiment at FAIR, intended for detecting high energy charged particles and γ-rays in inverse kinematics direct reactions. It surrounds the reaction target in a segmented configuration of Barrel and Forward End-Cap pieces. The CALIFA Barrel consists of 1952 detection units made of CsI(Tl) long-shaped scintillator crystals, and it is being commissioned during the Phase0 experiments at FAIR. The first setup for the CALIFA Barrel commissioning is presented here. Results of detector performance with γ-rays are obtained, and show that the system fulfills the design requirements.

  • Bubble dynamics and mechanistic boiling heat transfer prediction on a scored copper surface
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physics: Conference Series. - : IOP Publishing. - 1742-6588 .- 1742-6596. ; 2116
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this study, pool boiling heat transfer of de-ionized water was experimentally studied on a scored copper surface at a heat-flux range of 0 - 60 W/cm2. Bubble dynamics in an isolated bubble region were carefully investigated, including bubble departure diameters, bubble departure frequencies, and active nucleation site densities. The bubble dynamics were compared with available models, indicating the suitable models regarding the present experimental results. Then, based on the bubble dynamics, a mechanistic heat transfer model, developed in our previous studies, was employed to predict the present boiling curve. In the mechanistic model, heat fluxes from natural convection, transient heat conduction, and microlayer evaporation were incorporated.

  • Can we break the symmetry along the polarization axis in photoionization?
  • 2020. - 7
  • Ingår i: Attosecond Physics. - : IOP Publishing. - 1742-6588. ; 1412
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Photoionization is a fundamental process in which an electron is emitted from an atom. The emission is traditionally considered to be symmetric with respect to the polarization axis, unless it is temporally confined to a period shorter than an optical cycle time. We demonstrate that this symmetry can still be broken by combining a train of a few attosecond pulses and a dressing laser field. The light fields act as temporal slits and phase modulator that releases electron wavepackets. The resulting photoelectron spectra differ for electrons emitted in opposite direction along the polarization.

  • Isospin-breaking contributions to ϵ ′/ϵ
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: International Conference on Kaon Physics 2019 10-13 September 2019, University of Perugia, Italy. - : IOP Publishing. - 1742-6588. ; 1526
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present an updated analysis of isospin-violating corrections to ϵ0=ϵ in the framework of chiral perturbation theory, taking advantage of the currently improved knowledge on quark masses and nonperturbative parameters. The role of the different ingredients entering into the analysis is carefully assessed. Our final result is ωeff = 0:110 +0:090 -0:088 [1].

  • Theoretical status of ϵ ′/ϵ
  • 2020. - 1
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physics: Conference Series : International Conference on Kaon Physics 2019 10-13 September 2019, University of Perugia, Italy - International Conference on Kaon Physics 2019 10-13 September 2019, University of Perugia, Italy. - : IOP Publishing. - 1742-6588. ; 1526
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We briefly overview the historical controversy around Standard Model predictions of ϵ ′/ϵ and clarify the underlying physics. A full update of this important observable is presented, with all known short-and long-distance contributions, including isospin-breaking corrections. The current Standard Model prediction, Re(ϵ ′/ϵ) = (14 ± 5) • 10-4 [1, 2], is in excellent agreement with the experimentally measured value.

  • Spectroscopic Tools Applied to Flerovium Decay Chains
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physics: Conference Series. - : IOP Publishing. - 1742-6588 .- 1742-6596. ; 1643
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • An upgraded TASISpec setup, with the addition of a veto DSSD and the new Compex detector-germanium array, has been employed with the gas-filled recoil separator TASCA at the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung Darmstadt, to study flerovium (element 114) decay chains. The detector upgrades along with development of new analytical techniques have improved the sensitivity of the TASISpec setup for measuring α-photon coincidences. These improvements have been assessed with test reactions. The reaction 48Ca+206,207Pb was used for verification of experimental parameters such as transmission to implantation DSSD and target-segment to α-decay correlations. The reaction 48Ca+ natHf was used to produce several short-lived nuclei with multiple-α decay chains to investigate pile-up event deconvolution.
