  • Achieving person-centred health systems : Evidence, strategies and challenges
  • 2020
  • Samlingsverk (redaktörskap) (refereegranskat)abstract
    • he idea of person-centred health systems is widely advocated in political and policy declarations to better address health system challenges. A person-centred approach is advocated on political, ethical and instrumental grounds and believed to benefit service users, health professionals and the health system more broadly. However, there is continuing debate about the strategies that are available and effective to promote and implement 'person-centred' approaches. This book brings together the world's leading experts in the field to present the evidence base and analyse current challenges and issues. It examines 'person-centredness' from the different roles people take in health systems, as individual service users, care managers, taxpayers or active citizens. The evidence presented will not only provide invaluable policy advice to practitioners and policymakers working on the design and implementation of person-centred health systems but will also be an excellent resource for academics and graduate students researching health systems in Europe.

  • Effect of liposome surface modification with water-soluble phospholipid polymer chain-conjugated lipids on interaction with human plasma proteins
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Journal of materials chemistry. B. - : Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). - 2050-750X .- 2050-7518. ; 10:14, s. 2512-2522
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Alternative liposome surface coatings for PEGylation to evade the immune system, particularly the complement system, have garnered significant interest. We previously reported poly(2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine) (MPC)-based lipids (PMPC-lipids) and investigated the surface modification of liposomes. In this study, we synthesize PMPC-lipids with polymerization degrees of 10 (MPC10-lipid), 20 (MPC20-lipid), 50 (MPC50-lipid), and 100 (MPC100-lipid), and coated liposomes with 1, 5, or 10 mol% PMPC-lipids (PMPC-liposomes). Non-modified and PEGylated liposomes are used as controls. We investigate the liposome size, surface charge, polydispersity index, and adsorption of plasma proteins to the liposomes post incubation in human plasma containing N,N,N ',N '-ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) or lepirudin by some methods such as sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), western blotting, and automated capillary western blot, with emphasis on the binding of complement protein C3. It is shown that the coating of liposome PMPC-lipids can suppress protein adsorption more effectively with an increase in the molecular weight and molar ratio (1-10 mol%). Apolipoprotein A-I is detected on PMPC-liposomes with a higher molecular weight and higher molar ratio of PMPC-lipids, whereas alpha(2)-macroglobulin is detected on non-modified, PEGylated, and PMPC-liposomes with a shorter polymer chain. In addition, a correlation is shown among the PMPC molecular weight, molar ratio, and C3 binding. The MPC10-lipid cannot inhibit C3 binding efficiently, whereas surface modifications with 10 mol% MPC20-lipid and 5 mol% and 10 mol% MPC50-lipid suppress both total protein and C3 binding. Hence, liposome modification with PMPC-lipids can be a possible strategy for avoiding complement activation.

  • Particle-species dependent modification of jet-induced correlations in Au plus Au collisions at root s(NN)=200 GeV
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Physical Review Letters. - 1079-7114. ; 101:8
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Measurements in Au + Au collisions at root s(NN) = 200 GeV of jet correlations for a trigger hadron at intermediate transverse momentum (p(T,trig)) with associated mesons or baryons at lower p(T,assoc) indicate strong modification of the away-side jet. The ratio of jet-associated baryons to mesons increases with centrality and p(T,assoc). For the most central collisions, the ratio is similar to that for inclusive measurements. This trend is incompatible with in-vacuum fragmentation but could be due to jetlike contributions from correlated soft partons, which recombine upon hadronization.

  • International Spinal Cord Injury Male Sexual Function Basic Data Set
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Spinal Cord. - 1362-4393. ; 49:7, s. 795-8
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objective: To create the International Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Male Sexual Function Basic Data Set within the International SCI Data Sets. Setting: An international working group. Methods: The draft of the data set was developed by an international working group consisting of members appointed by the International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS), the American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) and a representative from the executive committee of the International SCI Standards and Data Sets. The data set was developed in an iterative process with review and comments by the members of the executive committee of the International SCI Standards and Data Sets, ISCoS scientific committee, ASIA Board and the ISCoS Council, as well as all the interested organizations and individuals. Next, the data set was posted for 2 months at the ISCoS and ASIA's websites for comments. ISCoS and ASIA approved the final version of the data set. To make the data set uniform, each variable and each response category within each variable have been specifically defined in a way that is designed to promote the collection and reporting of comparable minimal data. Results: Variables included in the International SCI Male Sexual Function Basic Data Set are as follows: date of data collection, interest in discussing sexual issues, sexual issues unrelated to spinal cord lesion, sexual dysfunction related to spinal cord lesion, psychogenic erection, reflex erection, ejaculation and orgasmic function. Complete instructions for data collection, data sheet and training cases are available at the website of ISCoS (http://www.iscos.org.uk) and ASIA (http://www.asia-spinalinjury.org).

  • Measuring the burden of interval cancers in long-standing screening mammography programmes
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Journal of medical screening. - : SAGE Publications. - 1475-5793 .- 0969-1413. ; 22:2, s. 83-92
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Mammography screening programme sensitivity is evaluated by comparing the interval cancer rate (ICR) with the expected breast cancer incidence without screening, ie. the proportional interval cancer rate (PICR). The PICR is usually found by extrapolating pre-screening incidence rates, whereas ICR is calculated from data available in the screening programmes. As there is no consensus regarding estimation of background incidence, we seek to validate the ICR measure against the PICR. Methods Screening data from the three mammography screening programmes of Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Funen in the period 1989-2011 provided data to calculate the ICR. The most commonly described methods of extrapolating pre-screening incidence rates to calculate the PICR were illustrated and PICRs were calculated by year and programme using these different methods and compared with the ICRs. Results PICRs varied greatly, reaching a difference of 32–34% in Stockholm, 79% in Copenhagen, and 100–106% in Funen between the highest and the lowest value, depending on which method was applied. PICRs exhibited large variations yearly and from programme to programme. ICRs did not vary to the same extent, ranging on average from 0.100 to 0.136 in the first 12-months and between 0.201 and 0.225 in the last 12-months of the two-year period after a negative screen across the three programmes. Conclusion The value of the PICR is hugely influenced by which method is applied, whereas the ICR is calculated purely on data available within programmes. We find that the PICR, the establishing indicator for sensitivity, could preferably be replaced by the ICR.

  • Multiattribute Utility Theory, Intertemporal Utility, and Correlation Aversion
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: International Economic Review. - : Wiley-Blackwell Publishing Inc.. - 0020-6598 .- 1468-2354. ; 59:2, s. 537-555
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Convenient assumptions about qualitative properties of the intertemporal utility function have generated counterintuitive implications for the relationship between atemporal risk aversion and the intertemporal elasticity of substitution. If the intertemporal utility function is additively separable, then the latter two concepts are the inverse of each other. We review a theoretical specification with a long lineage in the literature on multi-attribute utility and use this theoretical structure to guide the design of a series of experiments that allow us to identify and estimate intertemporal correlation aversion. Our results show that subjects are correlation averse over lotteries with intertemporal income profiles.
