  • Centralized versus Distributed Nonlinear Model Predictive Control for Online Robot Fleet Trajectory Planning
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering. - 2161-8070 .- 2161-8089. ; 2022-August, s. 701-706
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper, we formulate and evaluate a centralized vs. a distributed approach for online trajectory generation for a fleet of mobile robots in the presence of static and dynamic obstacles. Due to dynamic obstacles, the trajectories need to be updated online and this is formulated as a nonlinear model predictive control problem. We show that both centralized and distributed MPC solvers manage to generate smooth collision-free trajectories. The distributed approach is shown to scale to many robots very well. In contrast, the computational cost of the centralized approach increases with the number of robots. However, the trajectories generated by the distributed control approach have larger deviations than those generated by the centralized approach. The experiments suggest that the centralized method should be chosen with sufficient computation resource while the distributed approach is a viable alternative when the number of robots is considerable.

  • Resultatansvar för likvärdighet : En läroplansteoretisk studie av systematiskt kvalitetsarbete och rektorers sensemaking
  • 2024
  • Doktorsavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The aim of this dissertation is to describe and critically analyze ideas about quality management with in different arenas of the Swedish education systemand how these relate to leadership and the enacted curriculum. The study conceptualizes systematic quality work as a governance tool and a national accountability program created with the aim of solving problems concerning lack of equity and lowered national test scores. Two tensions within the policy program are identified. The first is between external results-oriented forms of control and internal professional trust. The second is between national curriculum goals and local organizational goals. The empirical study consists of a cross-case study of the most different designs of four quality systems enacted by the heads of the school organizations and the principals. The main sources of data are interviews with principals and school leaders and documents and policy artifacts. The data are analyzed from a combined perspective of loosely coupled system, discursive institutionalism and sensemaking. The main conclusion of the study is that while systematic quality work represents an attempt by the state to create a more coherent and centralized accountability system, the results point to a decentralized and loosely coupled education system focused on local organizational goals. The contents of the enacted policy solutions show that the ideational content of quality work is highly malleable to localized uses and interpretations, which also raises questions about how equity is to be understood within the policy program. The enacted solutions show great variance concerning how tensions relating to internal and external dimensions of accountability were handled. The reasons for these differences where related to different leadership strategies, varying pressures from the school market and distinct organizational needs. While the enacted accountability systems in all four cases have created results-oriented frameworks for teaching, their impact on the enacted curriculum was clearly mediated in three of the four cases.

  • Electron and photon energy calibration with the ATLAS detector using LHC Run 2 data
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: Journal of Instrumentation. - : Institute of Physics. - 1748-0221. ; 19:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper presents the electron and photon energy calibration obtained with the ATLAS detector using 140 fb−1 of LHC proton-proton collision data recorded at √s = 13 TeV between 2015 and 2018. Methods for the measurement of electron and photon energies are outlined, along with the current knowledge of the passive material in front of the ATLAS electromagnetic calorimeter. The energy calibration steps are discussed in detail, with emphasis on the improvements introduced in this paper. The absolute energy scale is set using a large sample of Z-boson decays into electron-positron pairs, and its residual dependence on the electron energy is used for the first time to further constrain systematic uncertainties. The achieved calibration uncertainties are typically 0.05% for electrons from resonant Z-boson decays, 0.4% at ET ∼ 10 GeV, and 0.3% at ET ∼ 1 TeV; for photons at ET ∼ 60 GeV, they are 0.2% on average. This is more than twice as precise as the previous calibration. The new energy calibration is validated using J/ → ee and radiative Z-boson decays. © 2024 Institute of Physics. All rights reserved.

  • Integrated and differential fiducial cross-section measurements for the vector boson fusion production of the Higgs boson in the H → WW* → eνμν decay channel at 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Physical Review D. - : AMER PHYSICAL SOC. - 2470-0010 .- 2470-0029. ; 108:7
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The vector-boson production cross section for the Higgs boson decay in the H→WW*→eνμν channel is measured as a function of kinematic observables sensitive to the Higgs boson production and decay properties as well as integrated in a fiducial phase space. The analysis is performed using the proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS detector in Run 2 of the LHC at √s=13  TeV center-of-mass energy, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139  fb−1. The different flavor final state is studied by selecting an electron and a muon originating from a pair of W bosons and compatible with the Higgs boson decay. The data are corrected for the effects of detector inefficiency and resolution, and the measurements are compared with different state-of-the-art theoretical predictions. The differential cross sections are used to constrain anomalous interactions described by dimension-six operators in an effective field theory.

  • Measurement of Suppression of Large-Radius Jets and Its Dependence on Substructure in Pb+Pb Collisions at √sNN=5.02 TeV with the ATLAS Detector
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Physical Review Letters. - 1079-7114. ; 131:17
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This letter presents a measurement of the nuclear modification factor of large-radius jets in Formula Presented Formula Presented collisions by the ATLAS experiment. The measurement is performed using Formula Presented and Formula Presented of Formula Presented and Formula Presented data, respectively. The large-radius jets are reconstructed with the anti-Formula Presented algorithm using a radius parameter of Formula Presented, by reclustering anti-Formula Presented Formula Presented jets, and are measured over the transverse momentum (Formula Presented) kinematic range of Formula Presented and absolute pseudorapidity Formula Presented. The large-radius jet constituents are further reclustered using the Formula Presented algorithm in order to obtain the splitting parameters, Formula Presented and Formula Presented, which characterize the transverse momentum scale and angular separation for the hardest splitting in the jet, respectively. The nuclear modification factor, Formula Presented, obtained by comparing the Formula Presented jet yields to those in Formula Presented collisions, is measured as a function of jet transverse momentum (Formula Presented) and Formula Presented or Formula Presented. A significant difference in the quenching of large-radius jets having single subjet and those with more complex substructure is observed. Systematic comparison of jet suppression in terms of Formula Presented for different jet definitions is also provided. Presented results support the hypothesis that jets with hard internal splittings lose more energy through quenching and provide a new perspective for understanding the role of jet structure in jet suppression. © 2023 CERN, for the ATLAS Collaboration.

    • MOTIVATION: Complex diseases are due to the dense interactions of many disease-associated factors that dysregulate genes that in turn form so-called disease modules, which have shown to be a powerful concept for understanding pathological mechanisms. There exist many disease module inference methods that rely on somewhat different assumptions, but there is still no gold standard or best performing method. Hence, there is a need for combining these methods to generate robust disease modules.RESULTS: We developed MODule IdentiFIER (MODifieR), an ensemble R package of nine disease module inference methods from transcriptomics networks. MODifieR uses standardized input and output allowing the possibility to combine individual modules generated from these methods into more robust disease-specific modules, contributing to a better understanding of complex diseases.AVAILABILITY: MODifieR is available under the GNU GPL license and can be freely downloaded from https://gitlab.com/Gustafsson-lab/MODifieR and as a Docker image from https://hub.docker.com/r/ddeweerd/modifier.SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Supplementary data are available at Bioinformatics online.

  • A Cavity-Backed Patch Antenna with Distributed Multi-Port Feeding, Enabling Efficient Integration with Doherty Power Amplifier and Band-Pass Filter
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation. - 0018-926X .- 1558-2221. ; 69:8, s. 4412-4422
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A joint design approach for co-integrated antenna and power amplifier (PA), employing a high-efficiency Doherty PA (DPA) architecture and including a band-pass RF filter, is proposed. This design is realized through the optimally distributed and balanced multi-port feeding of the cavity-backed patch antenna element that provides the desired (unique) loading conditions for the main and auxiliary PA branches and tailored power combining. A novelty and advantage of this feeding solution is that each pair of feeding points form a virtual common feeding centre of the radiating element; as a result, the radiation pattern remains power invariant when the port excitations change. A joint optimization of the integrated antenna-DPA transmitter is carried out to enhance the overall performance and maximize the bandwidth. This optimization is demonstrated through an example design for the sub-6 GHz telecommunication applications that target high power-efficiency (>50%) at the 6dB backed-off power levels and require RF-filtering in a compact integrated design. The latter challenge leads to a non-conventional implementation, which generally does not require the filter to be inserted between the antenna and the final output stage of the PA, and can be embedded in the topology with complex-valued source/load impedance values. Results of numerical studies are supported by measurements obtained with the antenna-DPA-filter prototype system.

  • Limited, But Not Eliminated, Excess Long-Term Morbidity in Stage I-IIA Hodgkin Lymphoma Treated With Doxorubicin, Bleomycin, Vinblastine, and Dacarbazine and Limited-Field Radiotherapy
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Journal of Clinical Oncology. - : Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins. - 0732-183X .- 1527-7755. ; 40:13, s. 1487-1496
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • PURPOSE Balancing disease control and toxicity from chemotherapy and radiotherapy (RT) when treating early-stage classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) is important. Available data on long-term toxicity after RT for cHL mostly refer to RT techniques no longer in use. We aimed to describe long-term toxicity from modern limited-field (LF)-RT after two or four cycles of doxorubicin, bleomycin, vinblastine, and dacarbazine (ABVD). PATIENTS AND METHODS This study included all patients with cHL treated with two or four cycles of ABVD and 30 Gy LF-RT during 1999-2005 in Sweden. Patients (n = 215) and comparators (n = 860), matched for age, gender, and region of residence, were cross-checked against national health registries for malignancies, diseases of the circulatory system (DCS), and diseases of the respiratory system (DRS) from the day of diagnosis of cHL. RESULTS The risk of a malignancy was higher for patients than comparators, hazard ratio (HR) 1.5 (95% CI, 1.0 to 2.4), as was the risk for DCS 1.5 (95% CI, 1.1 to 2.0) and for DRS 2.6 (95% CI, 1.6 to 4.3). The median followup was 16 years (range, 12-19 years). Of individual diagnoses in DCS, only venous thromboembolism was statistically significantly elevated. If the first 6 months (ie, time of active treatment for cHL) were excluded and censoring at relapse of cHL or diagnosis of any malignancy, the increased HR for venous thromboembolism diminished. Most of the excess risk for DRS consisted of asthma, HR 3.5 (95% CI, 1.8 to 6.8). Patients diagnosed with DRS were significantly younger than comparators. CONCLUSION Compared with toxicity from earlier RT techniques, excess morbidity was not eliminated, but lower than previously reported. The elevated risk of DRS was driven by diagnosis of asthma, which could in part be explained by misdiagnosis of persisting pulmonary toxicity.

  • No excess long-term mortality in stage I-IIA Hodgkin lymphoma patients treated with ABVD and limited field radiotherapy
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: British Journal of Haematology. - : John Wiley & Sons. - 0007-1048 .- 1365-2141. ; 188:5, s. 685-691
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • When treating limited stage classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL), balancing treatment efficacy and toxicity is important. Toxicities after extended-field radiotherapy are well documented. Investigators have aimed at reducing toxicity without compromising efficacy, mainly by using combined modality treatment (CMT), i.e. chemotherapy and limited-field radiotherapy. In some clinical trials, radiotherapy has been omitted. We evaluated 364 patients with stage I-IIA cHL treated between 1999 and 2005. Patients were treated with two or four cycles of doxorubicin, bleomycin, vinblastine and dacarbazine (ABVD) according to presence of risk factors, followed by 30 Gy limited-field (reduced compared to involved-field) radiotherapy. After a median follow-up of 16 years for survival, freedom from progression at five and ten years was 93% and overall survival at 5 and 10 years was 98% and 96%, respectively. Only two relapses, out of 27, occurred after more than 5 years. There was no excess mortality compared to the general population. Of the analysed subgroups, only patients with progression within five years showed significant excess mortality. The absence of excess mortality questions the concept of omitting radiotherapy after short-term chemotherapy, a strategy that has been associated with an elevated risk of relapse but not yet with a proven reduced long-term excess mortality.

  • Organizing for Robotic Process Automation in Local Government : Observations from Two Case Studies of Robotic Process Automation Implementation in Swedish Municipalities
  • 2022. - 1
  • Ingår i: Service Automation in the Public Sector. - Cham : Springer. - 9783030926434 - 9783030926441 ; , s. 189-203
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Automation of internal administrative processes tied to the delivery of public services is outlined as a continuation of the development toward a more digital, efficient, and effective local government. However, this development is often based on unrealistic expectations of the transformative power of digital technologies. It is therefore important to further understand automation as a driver of digital transformation of local government organizations. Automation, in this chapter, is understood as a change from a function previously carried out by a human to being performed by a machine agent (e.g., robotic process automation). We explore and compare how initiatives to implement robotic process automation (RPA) are organized in two Swedish municipalities. Our analysis is based on semi-structured interviews with employees working in the two municipalities. The analysis shows interesting patterns across the cases concerning dissonances and disconnects between stakeholders on different levels in the organizations, making this kind of development difficult. Our results contribute with (a) empirical illustrations that show how general policies on process automation promoted by policymakers are influencing the organization of IT and work in local government practice; (b) challenges that affect the implementation of RPA in local government; and (c) point to a set of observations that require further research. © 2022 The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG
