  • Randomized healthservices study of human papillomavirus-based management of low-grade cytological abnormalities.
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Cancer. - : Wiley. - 0020-7136 .- 1097-0215. ; okt, s. 151-159
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Human Papillomavirus (HPV)-based management of women with borderline (ASCUS) or mildly abnormal (CINI) cervical cytology has been extensively studied in the research setting. We wished to assess safety and healthcare resource use of a real-life healthcare policy using HPV triaging. All 15 outpatient clinics involved in the organized population-based screening program in Stockholm, Sweden screening program were randomized to either continue with prior policy (colposcopy of all women with ASCUS/CINI) or to implement a policy with HPV triaging and colposcopy only of HPV-positive women. The trial enrolled the 3319 women that were diagnosed with ASCUS (n=1335) or CINI (n=1984) in Stockholm during 17(th) March 2003 to 16(th) January 2006. Detection of high-grade cervical lesions (CINII+) and health care cost consumption was studied by registry linkages. The proportion of histopathology-verified CINII+ was similar for the 2 policies (395/1752 women (22.5%; 95% Confidence interval (CI): 20,6-24,6%) had CINII+ diagnosed with HPV triaging policy, 318/1567 women (20.3%; 95%CI: 18,3-22,4%)) had CINII+ with colposcopy policy). 64% of women with ASCUS and 77% of women with CINI were HPV-positive. HPV-positivity was age-dependent, with 81% of women below 35 years of age and 44% of women above 45 years of age testing HPV-positive. HPV triaging was cost-effective only above 35 years of age.In conclusion, a real-life randomised healthservices study of HPV triaging of women with ASCUS/CINI demonstrated similar detection of CINII+ as colposcopy of all women.

  • Identification of Ternary Phases in TiBC/a-C Nanocomposite Thin Films : Influence on the Electrical and Optical Properties
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Plasma Processes and Polymers. - : Wiley. - 1612-8850 .- 1612-8869. ; 8:7, s. 579-588
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The local structure of TiBC and amorphous carbon (a-C) nanocomposite films (TiBC/a-C) was correlated with their optical and electrical properties. TiBC/a-C films with increasing C content were deposited by magnetron co-sputtering from TiC:TiB(2) (60: 40) and graphite targets. Chemical composition is determined by electron energy-loss spectroscopy. Grazing incidence X-ray diffraction reveals that the microstructure of the films is amorphous with small nanocrystallites emerging by increasing the C content that could be attributed to the formation of ternary (TiB(x)C(y)) or mixed binary (TiB(2) and TiC) phases. Further information was then obtained by studying the chemical bonding by measuring the near-edge fine structure (NES) by electron energy-loss (B K-, C K-, and Ti L-edges) and X-ray absorption (B K-and Ti L-edges) spectroscopies. The NES analysis indicates the formation of a nanocrystalline ternary TiB(x)C(y) compound concomitant with the segregation of an a-C phase as the carbon content is increased. The optical properties were studied by spectroscopic ellipsometry and the electrical resistivity was measured by the Van der Pauw method between 20 and 300 K. The films continuously lose their metallic character in terms of optical constants and resistivity with increasing carbon content. Theoretical fitting of the electrical properties using the grain-boundary scattering model supported the formation of a nanocomposite structure based on a ternary TiB(x)C(y) phase embedded in a matrix of a-C. The electron transport properties are mainly limited by the high density of point defects, grain size, and transmission probability.

  • High quality ZnO:Al transparent conducting oxide films synthesized by pulsed filtered cathodic arc deposition
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Thin Solid Films. - : Elsevier BV. - 0040-6090 .- 1879-2731. ; 518:12, s. 3313-3319
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Aluminum-doped zinc oxide, ZnO:Al or AZO, is a well-known n-type transparent conducting oxide with great potential in a number of applications currently dominated by indium tin oxide. In this study, the optical and electrical properties of AZO thin films deposited on glass and silicon by pulsed filtered cathodic arc deposition are systematically studied. In contrast to magnetron sputtering, this technique does not produce energetic negative ions, and therefore ion damage can be minimized. The quality of the AZO films strongly depends on growth temperature while only marginal improvements are obtained with post-deposition annealing. The best films, grown at a temperature of about 200 degrees C, have resistivities in the low to mid 10(-4) Omega cm range with a transmittance better than 85% in the visible part of the spectrum. It is remarkable that relatively good films of small thickness (60 nm) can be fabricated using this method.

  • Experimental and Numerical Characterization of an Electrically Propelled Vehicles Battery Casing Including Battery Module
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Journal of Thermal Science and Engineering Applications. - : ASME International. - 1948-5085 .- 1948-5093. ; 6:4
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper demonstrates the possibility to predict a battery system's performance in a fire resistance test according to the new amendment of United Nations Regulation No. 100 "Uniform Provisions Concerning the Approval of Vehicles with Regard to Specific Requirements for the Electric Power Train" (R100) based on careful measurements of the physical properties of the casing material, as well as modeling of the battery modules and computer simulations. The methodology of the work consists of estimating the heat transfer coefficients by using a gasoline pool fire model in the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software FIRE DYNAMICS SIMULATOR (FDS), followed by finite-element (FE) calculations of the temperatures in the battery.

  • Contacting paper-based supercapacitors to printed electronics on paper substrates
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Nordic Pulp & Paper Research Journal. - 0283-2631 .- 2000-0669. ; 27:2, s. 476-480
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Hybrid printed electronics, in which printed structures and silicon-based components co-exist will likely be among the first commercial solutions. In this case the paper substrate acts much in the same way as circuit boards, containing conductive tracks and acting as a carrier for the electrical components. It is important to consider the contacting of the components to be able to produce low resistance electrical contacts to the conductive tracks. Supercapacitors are able to deliver a large amount of current in a short time and are a good option for short term energy storage and if the printed product is to be used only one, or a few times, it can be the only power source needed. When manufacturing printed electronics, the overall resistance of the printed tracks as well as the contact resistance of the mounted components will add up to the total resistance of the system. A high resistance will cause a voltage drop from the power source to the component. This will waste power that goes to Joule heating and also the voltage and current available to components may be too low to drive them. If the intention is to use a power supply such as batteries or solar cells this becomes a limitation. In this article have been tested several conductive adhesives used to contact paper based supercapacitors to ink jet printed silver tracks on paper. The best adhesive gives about 0.3 Ω per contact, a factor 17 better compared to the worst which gave 5 Ω. The peak power that is possible to take out from a printed system with a flexible battery and super capacitors is about 10 times higher than compared with the same system with only the battery.
