  • Computational fluid dynamics applied to the vacuum infusion process
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: Polymer Composites. - : Wiley. - 0272-8397 .- 1548-0569. ; 26:2, s. 231-239
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • An all-purpose computational fluid dynamics software is used for simulations of the vacuum infusion process. The study comprises simulations of a full three-dimensional two-phase flow through a porous medium. The medium that has an anisotropic, spatial- and time-dependent permeability is located in a complex mold with moving boundaries. With this generalization, different material combinations, processing conditions, and even other manufacturing techniques can be evaluated. The strength of the presented approach is exemplified by simulations of mold filling of a real part, using a typical vacuum infusion set-up. In addition to the overall development of the model, a number of specific aspects and phenomena are investigated and evaluated. Local lead of the flow front and a minor influence in overall flow front lead-lag, with no influence on the fill time, is the result of simulations of edge effects due to poor preform fitting.

  • Measurement of the differential cross section for the two-body photodisintegration of He-3 at theta(LAB)=90 degrees using tagged photons in the energy range 14-31 MeV
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C (Nuclear Physics). - 0556-2813. ; 80:4
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The two-body photodisintegration of He-3 has been investigated using tagged photons with energies from 14-31 MeV at MAX-lab in Lund, Sweden. The two-body breakup channel was unambiguously identified by the (nonsimultaneous) detection of both protons and deuterons. This approach was made feasible by the overdetermined kinematic situation afforded by the tagged-photon technique. Proton-and deuteron-energy spectra were measured using four silicon surface-barrier detector telescopes located at a laboratory angle of 90 degrees with respect to the incident photon-beam direction. Average statistical and systematic uncertainties of 5.7% and 6.6% in the differential cross section were obtained for 11 photon-energy bins with an average width of 1.2 MeV. The results are compared to previous experimental data measured at comparable photon energies as well as to the results of two recent Faddeev calculations which employ realistic potential models and take into account three-nucleon forces and final-state interactions. Both the accuracy and precision of the present data are improved over those obtained in the previous measurements. The data are in good agreement with most of the previous results, and favor the inclusion of three-nucleon forces in the calculations.

  • Power Amplifier Behavioral Modeling Performance Comparison of the LSNA and the Modulation-Domain System
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: 72ND ARFTG MICROWAVE MEASUREMENT SYMPOSIUM - TIME DOMAIN AND FREQUENCY DOMAIN MEASUREMENT. - New York : IEEE. - 9781424422999 ; , s. 73-78, s. 73-78
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The performance of power amplifier behavioral models depends strongly on the performance of the system used to measure the amplifiers. In this study two different systems with nonlinear measurement capability are used to model a commercially available PA. One system is a large-signal network analyzer (LSNA) and the second system is a modulation-domain system (MDS) consisting of a vector signal generator and a vector signal analyzer. The PA was tested with multitone and WCDMA signals and behavioral models were extracted from the measured data. The evaluation criteria normalized mean square error and weighted error spectral power ratio or adjacent channel error power ratio were then computed to compare the performance of the models from the two systems. Cross-validation between the systems, using data from one system to obtain the model and validating its performance with data from the other system, shows that the model performance is mainly affected by the used validation data. Validating the performance of models from the LSNA with data from the MDS indicates that the identified models have almost the same performance as the MDS-identified models, i.e. it does not matter which system is used to identify the models. Cross-validation using a WCDMA-signal and multitone signal from the different systems shows that the normalized mean square error is mainly affected by modeling imperfections introduced by using another signal type. WESPR and ACEPR show a certain difference in performance with somewhat lower values for the MDS. The behavior of the two systems can be explained by different noise levels.
