• Internationalisering av samverkan (INSA) : Slutrapport
• 2021

• 2022
• Ingår i: Entomologisk tidskrift. - 0013-886X. ; 143:1-2, s. 47-66
• Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
• Wetland area has decreased dramatically compared with preindustrial times, and in manyagricultural areas almost all wetlands have been drained to gain cropland. The trend hasin recent years been reversed because society has realized the many benefits of wetlandfunctions, such as for nutrient retention and flood control. In this study we inventoried 75 wetlands in Uppland and Halland for insects and spiders with Malaise traps, pitfall traps andsuction sampling. Most included wetlands are constructed, because the main purpose was toexamine if these wetlands also can be good for arthropod diversity, but we also included somemore natural wetlands as comparison. In total, we identified more than 25,000 individualsof more than 900 species of Coleoptera, Araneae, Diptera and Heteroptera. We found onenew species for Sweden, Hilara manicata Meigen 1822, and 37 new regional records. Alarge number of species found are considered threatened or else rare. Some wetlands closeto Mälaren were particularly interesting, with three species (Hypsosinga heri (Hahn 1831),Rhaphium antennatum (Charlier 1835) and Bagous robustus Brisout de Barneville 1863)that have no records nearby during recent times. These and other species found in the studyshow that constructed wetlands can provide good habitats for arthropod biodiversity andrare species, particularly if wetland shores are grazed and trampled by cattle.

• Apparent Soot Size and Concentration in Combusting Diesel Jets at High Gas Pressures and Temperatures Measured by Combining Quasi-Simultaneous LII, Elastic Light Scattering and Light Extinction
• 2020
• Ingår i: SAE technical paper series. - 400 Commonwealth Drive, Warrendale, PA, United States : SAE International. - 0148-7191 .- 2688-3627. ; 2:3, s. 1578-1591
• Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
• A method for measuring apparent soot particle size and concentration in turbulent combusting diesel jets with elevated and inhomogeneous optical density is presented and discussed. The method is based on the combination of quasi-simultaneous Laser Induced Incandescence (LII), Elastic Scattering (ELS) and Light Extinction (LE) measurements exhibiting a high potential for spatially resolved measurements of carbonaceous particles in flames and residual gases at a given instant. The method evaluates the LII signal by calculating the laser fluence across the flame and compensating for signal trapping, allowing measurements where laser extinction between the flame borders reaches values up to 90 %. The method was implemented by measuring particle size and concentration in the middle sagittal axis of optically dense, combusting diesel jets at a certain time after the start of combustion. Experiments were carried out in the Chalmers High Pressure, High Temperature spray rig under conditions similar to those prevailing in direct injected compression ignition engines. Measurements of apparent particle size and concentration together with volume fraction conferring an instantaneous single-shot case and an average measurement from several consecutive jets are presented and discussed.

• Two Dimensional Measurements of Soot Size and Concentration in Diesel Flames by Laser Based Optical Methods
• 2022
• Ingår i: SAE Technical Paper Issue 202229 March 2022. - 400 Commonwealth Drive, Warrendale, PA, United States : SAE International.
• Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
• Soot particle size, particle concentration and volume fraction were measured by laser based methods in optically dense, highly turbulent combusting diesel sprays under engine-like conditions. Experiments were done in the Chalmers High Pressure, High Temperature spray rig under isobaric conditions and combusting commercial diesel fuel. Laser Induced Incandescence (LII), Elastic Scattering and Light Extinction were combined quasi-simultaneously to quantify particle characteristics spatially resolved in the middle plane of a combusting spray at two instants after the start of combustion. The influence that fuel injection pressure, gas temperature and gas pressure exert on particle size, particle concentration and volume fraction were studied. Probability density functions of particle size and two-dimensional images of particle diameter, particle concentration and volume fraction concerning instantaneous single-shot cases and average measurements are presented. High injection pressure led to a reduction in the mean particle size, total number of particles and total amount of soot compared to a low injection pressure. Higher gas pressure resulted in larger amount of soot and larger soot particle size, with higher gas temperature having similar effects.

• Completing Linnaeus’s inventory of the Swedish insect fauna: only 5,000 species left?
• 2020
• Ingår i: PLOS ONE. - : Public Library of Science (PLoS). - 1932-6203. ; 15:3
• Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
• Despite more than 250 years of taxonomic research, we still have only a vague idea about the true size and composition of the faunas and floras of the planet. Many biodiversity inventories provide limited insight because they focus on a small taxonomic subsample or a tiny geographic area. Here, we report on the size and composition of the Swedish insect fauna, thought to represent roughly half of the diversity of multicellular life in one of the largest European countries. Our results are based on more than a decade of data from the Swedish Taxonomy Initiative and its massive inventory of the country’s insect fauna, the Swedish Malaise Trap Project The fauna is considered one of the best known in the world, but the initiative has nevertheless revealed a surprising amount of hidden diversity: more than 3,000 new species (301 new to science) have been documented so far. Here, we use three independent methods to analyze the true size and composition of the fauna at the family or subfamily level: (1) assessments by experts who have been working on the most poorly known groups in the fauna; (2) estimates based on the proportion of new species discovered in the Malaise trap inventory; and (3) extrapolations based on species abundance and incidence data from the inventory. For the last method, we develop a new estimator, the combined non-parametric estimator, which we show is less sensitive to poor coverage of the species pool than other popular estimators. The three methods converge on similar estimates of the size and composition of the fauna, suggesting that it comprises around 33,000 species. Of those, 8,600 (26%) were unknown at the start of the inventory and 5,000 (15%) still await discovery. We analyze the taxonomic and ecological composition of the estimated fauna, and show that most of the new species belong to Hymenoptera and Diptera groups that are decomposers or parasitoids. Thus, current knowledge of the Swedish insect fauna is strongly biased taxonomically and ecologically, and we show that similar but even stronger biases have distorted our understanding of the fauna in the past. We analyze latitudinal gradients in the size and composition of known European insect faunas and show that several of the patterns contradict the Swedish data, presumably due to similar knowledge biases. Addressing these biases is critical in understanding insect biomes and the ecosystem services they provide. Our results emphasize the need to broaden the taxonomic scope of current insect monitoring efforts, a task that is all the more urgent as recent studies indicate a possible worldwide decline in insect faunas.

• Clinical supervision in cognitive behavior therapy improves therapists' competence : a single-case experimental pilot study
• 2020
• Ingår i: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. - : Informa UK Limited. - 1650-6073 .- 1651-2316. ; 49:5, s. 425-438
• Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
• Clinical supervision is a cornerstone in psychotherapists' training but there are few empirical evaluations on the effects of supervision on therapists' competencies. The aim of this study was therefore to evaluate the effects of standardized supervision on rater-assessed competency in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). Six therapists with basic training in CBT were provided with protocol-based clinical supervision in CBT in a single-case experimental multiple baseline design. The supervision focused on specific CBT competencies and used experiential learning methods such as role-play. Each therapist recorded weekly treatment sessions during phases without and with supervision. The therapists' CBT competence was assessed by third-party raters using the Revised Cognitive Therapy Scale (CTS-R). Statistical analyses showed that the therapists' CTS-R scores increased significantly during the phase with supervision with a mean item increase of M = 0.71 (range = 0.50-1.0) on the supervision focus areas. This is one of the first empirical studies that can confirm that supervision affect CBT competencies. The results also suggest that supervision can be manualized and that supervisees have a positive perception of more active training methods. Further studies are needed to replicate the results and to find ways to improve the impact of supervision.

• Effects of Settlement into Ethnic Enclaves on Immigrant Voter Turnout
• 2022
• Ingår i: Journal of Politics. - : University of Chicago Press. - 0022-3816 .- 1468-2508. ; 84:1, s. 578-584
• Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
• What is the effect of residing in ethnic enclaves on immigrants’ future political participation? We study a comprehensive refugee placement reform that was implemented in Sweden in the mid-1980s in combination with unique individual-level turnout data to study the causal effect of being settled in neighborhoods with a high residential concentration of coethnics on immigrants’ future probability of voting. We find little evidence that ethnic concentration per se affects voter turnout. On average, newly arrived immigrants were equally likely to vote whether they were placed in a neighborhood with many or few coethnics. Further analyses, however, indicate that the effect of ethnic concentration depends on the degree of political integration among previously settled coethnics; ethnic concentration increases turnout among the newly immigrated when they are placed with already politically integrated coethnics. These results underscore the conditions under which the political socialization of immigrant newcomers is enhanced in ethnic enclaves.

• När hjälpen finns på Facebook : Om försummade behov och nya hjälpformer
• 2022
• Ingår i: Socialmedicinsk Tidskrift. - 0037-833X. ; 99:4, s. 509-521
• Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract

• Signs of neuroaxonal injury in preeclampsia-A case control study.
• 2021
• Ingår i: PloS one. - : Public Library of Science (PLoS). - 1932-6203. ; 16:2
• Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
• Cerebral injury is a common cause of maternal mortality due to preeclampsia and is challenging to predict and diagnose. In addition, there are associations between previous preeclampsia and stroke, dementia and epilepsy later in life. The cerebral biomarkers S100B, neuron specific enolase, (NSE), tau protein and neurofilament light chain (NfL) have proven useful as predictors and diagnostic tools in other neurological disorders. This case-control study sought to determine whether cerebral biomarkers were increased in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) as a marker of cerebral origin and potential cerebral injury in preeclampsia and if concentrations in CSF correlated to concentrations in plasma.CSF and blood at delivery from 15 women with preeclampsia and 15 women with normal pregnancies were analysed for the cerebral biomarkers S100B, NSE, tau protein and NfL by Simoa and ELISA based methods. MRI brain was performed after delivery and for women with preeclampsia also at six months postpartum.Women with preeclampsia demonstrated increased CSF- and plasma concentrations of NfL and these concentrations correlated to each other. CSF concentrations of NSE and tau were decreased in preeclampsia and there were no differences in plasma concentrations of NSE and tau between groups. For S100B, serum concentrations in preeclampsia were increased but there was no difference in CSF concentrations of S100B between women with preeclampsia and normal pregnancy.NfL emerges as a promising circulating cerebral biomarker in preeclampsia and increased CSF concentrations point to a neuroaxonal injury in preeclampsia, even in the absence of clinically evident neurological complications.
