Vigorous Physical Activity may be Important for the Insulin Sensitivity in Immigrants From the Middle East and Native Swedes

- Purpose: To compare physical activity measures and their associations with insulin sensitivity, beta-cell function and body mass index (BMI) between Iraqi immigrants and native Swedes. Methods: A cross-sectional study of 493 Iraqis (58% men) and 469 Swedes (54% men) aged 30 to 75 years living in the city of Malmo, Sweden. Accelerometry was used for physical activity measures (sedentary time, breaks in sedentary time, moderate and vigorous physical activity, total counts). Insulin sensitivity index and oral disposal index were determined from an oral glucose tolerance test and BMI by body weight and height. Results: Iraqi men were less physically active than Swedish men, while the physical activity was more similar in the women. BMI was a strong predictor of insulin sensitivity and beta-cell function and frequently associated with the physical activity measures. BMI modified the associations of insulin sensitivity and beta-cell function with the physical activity measures to such extent that only VPA and total counts show direct associations with insulin sensitivity in addition to the indirect associations via BMI. Iraqi women demonstrated weaker associations compared with Swedish women. Conclusions: Physical activity and performed at vigorous intensity may be important mainly for the insulin sensitivity in Iraqi immigrants and native Swedes.

- Syftet med sessionen är att lyfta upp hur utbildning och forskning inom ämnet företagsekonomi kan bidra till hållbart företagande. Vårt fokus är dels att kartlägga den befintliga situationen och dels att diskutera framtida utmaningar och kunskapsbehov som ytterligare kan stärka det företagsekonomiska bidraget till hållbart företagande. Först kommer vi att diskutera hur hållbarhetsperspektivet (sustainability, CSR, business ethics) idag integreras i företagsekonomisk grund- och forskarutbildning i Sverige. Därefter kommer vi att lyfta upp exempel på svensk hållbarhetsforskning inom ämnet företagsekonomi samt hur denna på olika sätt kan implementeras ute i företag och organisationer och därigenom bidra till hållbart företagande. Forskning som kommer att belysas är bl.a. hållbarhetsredovisning, integrerad rapportering, värdering av hållbarhetsprestationer och väsentlighetsanalyser.

Communication of Business Model Reporting i Corporate Reports - a Study of Reporting Patterns in Sweden

- Purpose - In recent years, stakeholders´ raised awareness of environmental, societal and governance problems exposed large companies to increased pressure by demanding better accounts on how they create value that benefits not only shareholders but also environment and society. From this perspective, accounts on business models (BM) become crucial, because business models are supposed to reflect the entire value creation process of organizations. In light of the global sustainable development discourse, IIRC (2013) developed a reporting framework positioning BM at the core of the corporate report. Today, a major drawback of sustainability concepts is their application as they are defined and used in various ways and, firm internally and externally, often handled in an isolated manner. This study discusses BM, as framed by and by a wider research perspective, by connecting the internal value creation perspective with external accounts of this value creation. The purpose of this study is to explore the patterns of BM reporting in Swedish companies over time and to analyze the role of in the development of reporting patterns. Design/methodology/approach – The paper rests on a comprehensive and multidimensional disclosure study based on a mostly quantitative approach in combination with minor qualitative elements. We focus on 300 annual-, sustainability-, combined- and integrated reports from the largest companies listed on the Swedish Stock Exchange. In order to examine patterns and trends, the study investigates the seven years period 2010-2016. Findings – The findings reveal three patterns of BM reporting reflecting the relation between the internal performance improvement perspective (PIP) and the external transparency perspective (TP). The first pattern is non-coupling, which means that external accounts on BM are symbolic and legitimacy- driven accounts that look transparent but do not reflect internal performance improvement. The second pattern shows strong-coupling, in which external BM accounts reflect the process of sustainable value creation, thus being strongly connected to the PIP-perspective. We also identify a grey-zone, a third pattern of loose-coupling, when companies over time move towards reflecting PIP, but have not yet reached the strong coupling stage. Most companies that actually provide integrated reports also appear to have started a development of communication practices that seem to have their roots in the IR framework (IIRC, 2013). The overall development patterns of the BM reporting demonstrates that the fulfilment of integrated reporting requirements, in the future, might experience the above-articulated stages. Results may differ depending on industry domain. Research limitations/implications – This study is of interest and relevance to business and academic communities, reporting organisations and regulators. The herein insights into various aspects of the communication of BM and how organizations are dealing with this, but also other core features of the concept, are vital inputs in the on-going quest for more effective corporate reporting. Originality/value – This is an original in-depth study contributing to the scarce research on early practice development of the communication of BM in corporate reports and thus the fulfilment of important aspects of corporate reporting.

The agreement between the child and parental ratings of the children's OHRQoL was low, with an ICC of 0.22 (95% CI: 0.04-0.37) for the total scale.CONCLUSIONS: There was a low agreement between children's and parents' answers. For best care, it is advisable to consider perceptions of both children and parents because they can complement each other in estimating the child's OHRQoL.

- Syftet med denna session är att lyfta fram en kommande bok inom hållbarhetsredovisning som är riktad till högskola och universitet. Under sessionen kommer tre av bokens författare att medverka. De kommer att ge sin syn på hållbarhetsredovisning ur olika perspektiv, såväl teoretiskt, praktiskt som historiskt. Under sessionen kommer det att finnas goda möjligheter att diskutera vilken typ av litteratur som vi behöver inom det företagsekonomiska ämnet när det gäller hållbarhetsrelaterad litteratur. Om boken: Hållbarhetsredovisning har de senaste åren vuxit fram som ett etablerat fält inom redovisning. I nuläget finns det nästan uteslutande engelskspråkiga textböcker. Studenter har börjat efterfråga en svensk textbok som ger en övergripande översikt från interna processer inom verksamhetsyring till externa rapporter till kapitalmarknaden och andra intressenter. Denna bok, Redovisning för hållbarhet, försöker att ge en övergripande översikt som även tar upp hållbarhetsrevision och Social Responsible Investment för att visa att det finns en komplexitet och mångfald inom området redovisning gällande hållbarhet precis som i många andra forskningsområden. Denna bok försöker att göra annorlunda ansats än de få mest engelskspråkiga redovisningsböcker som berör hållbarhet. Istället för att hålla sig till en ideologisk position som är mot företagandet eller finansmarknaden, som ett antal redovisningsböcker inom detta fält gör, så vill vi snarare ge en bred översikt över komplexiteten och mångfalden inom området redovisning för hållbarhet.

- We aimed to compare two treatment regimes, one with and one without postoperative precautions in hemiarthroplasty patients, in terms of dislocation rate and patient-reported outcome. Direct lateral approach was used.394 patients were included in a cluster-randomized study 2010-2014. Depending on which ward they were admitted to, they were allotted to free rehabilitation (non-precaution group, NPG, n=226) or our conventional regime with precautions and mandatory assistive equipment (precaution group, PG, n=168). Patients were followed during hospital stay, at 6 weeks (postal questionnaire), 3 month (visit) and 6 months (reading of medical records) by means of function tests, health-related quality of life (EQ-5D) and other patient-reported outcome measures (PROM).One patient in each group had dislocation(s). We found no statistically significant differences regarding in-hospital-mortality, severe adverse events, EQ5D index or other PROM. In the NPG, rehabilitation personnel had significantly shorter work effort during hospital stay (p<0.001). 7 in the NPG and 13 of the PG had reoperations (p=0.038), 4 and 8 had deep infections, 3 and 5 periprosthetic fractures.Rehabilitation precautions are not needed for preventing dislocation when direct lateral approach is used. Without precautions, rehabilitation personnel implement significantly shorter work effort during hospital. We found no statistically significant differences regarding PROM and complications except for somewhat more reoperations in total in the precaution group.
