- Background and Aims: Diagnosis and management of inflammatory bowel diseases [IBD] requires a lifelong multidisciplinary approach.The quality of medical reporting is crucial in this context.The present topical review addresses the need for optimised reporting in endoscopy, surgery, and histopathology. Methods: A consensus expert panel consisting of gastroenterologists, surgeons, and pathologists, convened by the European Crohns and Colitis Organisation, performed a systematic literature review. The following topics were covered: in endoscopy: [i] general IBD endoscopy; [ii] disease activity and surveillance; [iii] endoscopy treatment in IBD; in surgery: [iv] medical history with surgical relevance, surgical indication, and strategy; [v] operative approach; [vi] intraoperative disease description; [vii] operative steps; in pathology: [viii] macroscopic assessment and interpretation of resection specimens; [ix] IBD histology, including biopsies, surgical resections, and neoplasia; [x] IBD histology conclusion and report. Statements were developed using a Delphi methodology incorporating two consecutive rounds. Current practice positions were set when >= 80% of participants agreed on a recommendation. Results: Thirty practice positions established a standard terminology for optimal reporting in endoscopy, surgery, and histopathology. Assessment of disease activity, surveillance recommendations, advice to surgeons for operative indication and strategies, including margins and extent of resection, and diagnostic criteria of IBD, as well as guidance for the interpretation of dysplasia and cancer, were handled. A standardised report including a core set of items to include in each specialty report, was defined. Conclusions: Interdisciplinary high-quality care requires thorough and standardised reporting across specialties.This topical review offers an actionable framework and practice recommendations to optimise reporting in endoscopy, surgery, and histopathology.

- Epilepsy surgery is a therapeutic option for selected children with drug-resistant epilepsy. Children who are surgical candidates have a high prevalence of neurodevelopmental comorbidities. There is a lack of adequately sized prospective studies in a number of rare surgical subgroups, especially of outcome domains such as cognitive level and health-related quality-of-life. In this article, we describe method considerations and a study protocol for a Nordic population-based multi-centre follow-up programme covering seizure as well as non-seizure outcomes in children aged <4 years undergoing resective epilepsy surgery and children aged <= 18 years undergoing hemispherotomy, callosotomy or surgery for hypothalamic hamartoma.

- The transdisciplinary fields of design and feminist technoscience share a common interest in focusing on the world in a state of always becoming, always changing. Within feminist technoscience, norm-critical perspectives are implemented to shed light on unequal sociotechnical infrastructures. Within design research, generative methods of critical design and design fiction encourage processes of fictional prototyping and storytelling that infuse discussions on what kind of world we want to live in. The purpose of this paper is to illustrate how design fiction can be used as a method to address norm-criticality in media technology education. Based on a week-long design fiction workshop with undergraduate students, three student projects are analyzed in detail. The analysis suggests design fiction can be used as a norm-critical practice to invoke discussions on values and beliefs within media design processes as well as established narratives of futuring.

- Electric double layer properties and protonation rates at the surface of a mechanically and chemically polished (001) surface of hematite (alpha-Fe2O3) contacted with aqueous solutions of NaCl were extracted by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Effects of pH (4-12) and ionic strength (10-1000 mM) on the EIS response of the electrode were predicted using an electrical equivalent circuit model accounting for hematite bulk and interfacial processes. These efforts generated diffuse layer as well as compact layer capacitances and resistance values pertaining to interfacial processes. Diffuse layer capacitance values lie in the 0.5-0.6 mu F cm(-2) region and are about 1.5 times smaller than those obtained on a roughened hematite surface. Compact layer capacitances are strongly pH dependent as they pertain to the transfer of ions (charge carriers) from the diffuse layer onto surface (hydr)oxo groups. These values, alongside those of resistance adsorption, pointed a 50% decrease in proton adsorption/desorption resistance under acidic and alkaline conditions relative to that of the point of zero charge (pH 8-9). Increasing ionic strength generally induces larger diffuse layer capacitances, larger adsorption capacitances, and lower resistance values. Such a response is in line with the concept for thinner electric double layers and facilitated proton adsorption reactions by solutions of high ionic strengths. Relaxation times pertaining to the transfer of charge carriers across the compact plane induced by the EIS experiments lie in the 0.7-4.2 s range and become larger under acidic conditions. Decreases in site availability and increases in electrostatic repulsion are two possible contributing factors impeding reaction rates below the point of zero charge. Collectively, these finding are underpinning important relationships between classical views on mineral surface complexation reactions and electrochemical views of semiconductor/water interfaces.
