  • Spatial patterns of correlation between conspecific species and size diversity in forest ecosystems
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Ecological Modelling. - : Elsevier BV. - 0304-3800 .- 1872-7026. ; 457
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Recently correlations between spatial species and size diversity have been found in many forest ecosystems around the world. They are likely to play a prominent role in nature's mechanisms of maintaining species and size diversity. In this study, we analysed the species population means of spatial species-mingling and sizeinequality indices in 36 large forest monitoring plots from the temperate and subtropical zones in China. Based on the literature we included eleven diversity-index combinations and considered their correlations for increasing numbers of nearest neighbours. Generally, positive correlations are related to between-species population size differences whilst negative correlations reflect within-species population size differences. Our results showed that the selected species-mingling and size-inequality indices produced different correlation patterns in one and the same monitoring site. We therefore defined a species-mingling size-inequality correlation space by computing the 0.025 and the 0.975 quantiles from the correlation data of the eleven index combinations. We noticed that each observed correlation space included 1-3 combinations of five basic geometric types and can be interpreted as the unique signature of a forest ecosystem in time. The correlation space allowed us to understand more clearly at which spatial scale within-species correlation was more influential than between-species inequality and vice versa. The shape of the correlation space is interpretable and gives important clues about the forest development stage of a forest ecosystem.

  • Reactance of the n-Au/p-La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 film contact
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: Technical Physics. - 1063-7842 .- 1090-6525. ; 51:8, s. 1097-1100
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The responses of the resistance and reactance of Au/(20 nm)La 0.67Ca0.33MnO3 film heterostructures to temperature variation and magnetic field (f = 100 kHz) are investigated. At T = 300 K, the capacitance per unit area of the interface between a gold contact and the Au/(20 nm)La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 epitaxial film is found to be about 1 μF/cm2. The maximum value of the negative magnetoreactance (≈60% at μ0 H = 0.4 T) of the heterostructures is almost twice as high as the extremal value of the active magnetoresistance at T ≈ 235 K. The effective depth of magnetic field penetration into the manganite film on the side of the gold contact deposited on its surface is about 3 nm at room temperature. © Pleiades Publishing, Inc., 2006.

  • Deviance Distraction Is Contingent on Stimuli Being Presented Within the Same Modality
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Abstracts of the Psychomic Society. - : The Psychonomic Society. ; , s. 101-101
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Sudden and unexpected changes in the auditory and visual channel are known to capture attention. This attention capture has been shown to negatively impact performance in an ongoing task (i.e., deviance distraction). In three experiments we examined if deviant stimuli presented in a different modality than astandard stimuli caused distraction in a visual categorization task, using a multi-sensory oddball task. In two experiments a deviant sound was presented (20 % of trials) against 80 % vibrotactile standard trials. In one the standard was omitted on deviating sound trials, while in the other the standard and deviants were presented simultaneously. In the third experiment the standard vibration was omitted in 20 % of the trials without any presentation of a deviant sound. Results showed distraction by deviating sounds (p < .05), but not when standard vibrations were presented simultaneously (p >.05). Interestingly, the omission of a standard vibration showed distraction (p < .05). In conclusion, deviance distraction might be bound to within rather than between modalities.

  • Dancing through life in a changing world : Life course, historical time and serious leisure
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Leisure/ Loisir. - : Taylor & Francis. - 1492-7713 .- 2151-2221. ; 45:2, s. 301-330
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • There is a lack of studies taking a life course perspective in the growing field of research on the social aspects of older people’s dance. This study aims to redress this negligence by exploring older people’s experiences of social dance through life by using a life course perspective. In the process of analysis, the theoretical framework was informed by the serious leisure perspective. Twenty-six qualitative interviews were conducted with older people active in dances originating from the Swedish folk park tradition. The results demonstrate how life events, historical events, social change, and individuals’ involvement affect experiences of social dance through life. The study also highlights experiences of discontinuity caused by social change, i.e. changes in the social world of folk park dance. By combining the life course perspective with assumptions from the serious leisure perspective the study contributes to research discussions about the need to contextualize the serious leisure perspective.

  • Is lung involvement a favorable prognostic factor for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma with synchronous liver metastases?—A propensity score analysis
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Expert Review of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. - : Informa UK Limited. - 1747-4124 .- 1747-4132.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • BackgroundFor advanced pancreatic cancer, pulmonary metastases (PM) have been considered favorable factors compared to metastases of other sites, but it remains unknown whether the prognosis of patients with synchronous liver and lung metastases is better than that of non-PM.MethodsData was derived from a two-decade cohort and included 932 cases of pancreatic adenocarcinoma with synchronous liver metastases (PACLM). Propensity score matching (PSM) was applied to balance 360 selected cases, grouped into PM (n = 90) and non-PM (n = 270). Overall survival (OS) and survival-related factors were analyzed.ResultsIn PSM-adjusted data, the median OS was 7.3 and 5.8 months, for PM and non-PM, respectively (p = 0.16). Multivariate analysis revealed that male gender, poor performance status, higher hepatic tumor burden, ascites, elevated carbohydrate antigen 19–9, and lactate dehydrogenase were factors of poor survival (p < 0.05). Chemotherapy was the only independent significant factor of favorable prognosis (p < 0.05).ConclusionAlthough lung involvement was indicated to be a favorable prognostic factor for patients with PACLM in the whole cohort, PM were not associated with better survivals in the subset of cases subjected to PSM adjustment.
