  • Kombinerade X-bandsanläggningar som väderradar : Jämförelse med etablerade metoder för regnmätning
  • 2022
  • Rapport (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • In this research report, a new methodology has been developed in order to integrate several X-band radar data sets in to one complete set. Furthermore, a direct and an indirect evaluation have been conducted compared to stationary rain gauges and C-band radar. In the indirect analysis, the input data sets were integrated into runoff models for Ellinge and Lundåkra WWTP where the results were compared to measured incoming flow to the sewage plants.

  • Sonifying Walking : A Perceptual Comparison of Swing Phase Mapping Schemes
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of ISon 2022, 7th Interactive Sonification Workshop, BSCC, University of Bremen, Germany, September 22–23, 2022.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • ast research on the interactive sonification of footsteps has shown that the signal properties of digitally generated or processed footstep sounds can affect the perceived congruence between sensory channel inputs, leading to measurable changes in gait characteristics. In this study, we designed musical and nonmusical swing phase sonification schemes with signal characteristics corresponding to high and low ‘energy’ timbres (in terms of the levels of physical exertion and arousal they expressed), and assessed their perceived arousal, valence, intrusiveness, and congruence with fast (5 km/h) and slow (1.5 km/h) walking . In a web-based perceptual test with 52 participants, we found that the nonmusical high energy scheme received higher arousal ratings, and the musical equivalent received more positive valence ratings than the respective lowenergy counterparts. All schemes received more positive arousal and valence ratings when applied to fast walking than slow walking data. Differences in perceived movement-sound congruence among the schemes were more evident for slow walking than fast walking. Lastly, the musical schemes were rated to be less intrusive to listen to for both slow and fast walking than their nonmusicalcounterparts. With some modifications, the designed schemes will be used during walking to assess their effects on gait qualities.

  • Prognostic implications of the expression levels of different immunoglobulin heavy chain-encoding RNAs in early breast cancer
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: npj Breast Cancer. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 2374-4677. ; 6:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The extent and composition of the immune response in a breast cancer is one important prognostic factor for the disease. The aim of the current work was to refine the analysis of the humoral component of an immune response in breast tumors by quantifying mRNA expression of different immunoglobulin classes and study their association with prognosis. We used RNA-Seq data from two local population-based breast cancer cohorts to determine the expression of IGJ and immunoglobulin heavy (IGH) chain-encoding RNAs. The association with prognosis was investigated and public data sets were used to corroborate the findings. Except for IGHE and IGHD, mRNAs encoding heavy chains were generally detected at substantial levels and correlated with other immune-related genes. High IGHG1 mRNA was associated with factors related to poor prognosis such as estrogen receptor negativity, HER2 amplification, and high grade, whereas high IGHA2 mRNA levels were primarily associated with lower age at diagnosis. High IGHA2 and IGJ mRNA levels were associated with a more favorable prognosis both in univariable and multivariable Cox models. When adjusting for other prognostic factors, high IGHG1 mRNA levels were positively associated with improved prognosis. To our knowledge, these results are the first to demonstrate that expression of individual Ig class types has prognostic implications in breast cancer.

  • Register-based information on thyroid diseases in Europe: lessons and results from the EUthyroid collaboration
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Endocrine Connections. - : Bioscientifica. - 2049-3614. ; 11:3
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • ObjectiveRegisters of diagnoses and treatments exist in different forms in the European countries and are potential sources to answer important research questions. Prevalence and incidence of thyroid diseases are highly dependent on iodine intake and, thus, iodine deficiency disease prevention programs. We aimed to collect European register data on thyroid outcomes to compare the rates between countries/regions with different iodine status and prevention programs. DesignRegister-based cross-sectional study. MethodsNational register data on thyroid diagnoses and treatments were requested from 23 European countries/regions. The provided data were critically assessed for suitability for comparison between countries/regions. Sex- and age-standardized rates were calculated. ResultsRegister data on >= 1 thyroid diagnoses or treatments were available from 22 countries/regions. After critical assessment, data on medication, surgery, and cancer were found suitable for comparison between 9, 10, and 13 countries/regions, respectively. Higher rates of antithyroid medication and thyroid surgery for benign disease and lower rates of thyroid hormone therapy were found for countries with iodine insufficiency before approx. 2001, and no relationship was observed with recent iodine intake or prevention programs. ConclusionsThe collation of register data on thyroid outcomes from European countries is impeded by a high degree of heterogeneity in the availability and quality of data between countries. Nevertheless, a relationship between historic iodine intake and rates of treatments for hyper- and hypothyroid disorders is indicated. This study illustrates both the challenges and the potential for the application of register data of thyroid outcomes across Europe.
