  • European Society of Cardiology quality indicators for the care and outcomes of adults with pulmonary arterial hypertension. Developed in collaboration with the Heart Failure Association of the European Society of Cardiology
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: European Journal of Heart Failure. - : Wiley. - 1388-9842 .- 1879-0844. ; 25:4, s. 469-477
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Aims: To develop a suite of quality indicators (QIs) for the evaluation of the care and outcomes for adults with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Methods and results: We followed the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) methodology for the development of QIs. This included (i) the identification of key domains of care for the management of PAH, (ii) the proposal of candidate QIs following systematic review of the literature, and (iii) the selection of a set of QIs using a modified Delphi method. The process was undertaken in parallel with the writing of the 2022 ESC/European Respiratory Society (ERS) guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary hypertension and involved the Task Force chairs, experts in PAH, Heart Failure Association (HFA) members and patient representatives. We identified five domains of care for patients with PAH: structural framework, diagnosis and risk stratification, initial treatment, follow-up, and outcomes. In total, 23 main and one secondary QIs for PAH were selected. Conclusion: This document presents the ESC QIs for PAH, describes their development process and offers scientific rationale for their selection. The indicators may be used to quantify and improve adherence to guideline-recommended clinical practice and improve patient outcomes.

  • A direct search for stable magnetic monopoles produced in positron-proton collisions at HERA
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: European Physical Journal C. Particles and Fields. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1434-6044. ; 41, s. 133-141
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A direct search has been made for magnetic monopoles produced in e(+)p collisions at a centre of mass energy of 300 GeV at HERA. The beam pipe surrounding the interaction region in 1995-1997 was investigated using a SQUID magnetometer to look for stopped magnetic monopoles. During this time an integrated luminosity of 62 pb(-1) was delivered. No magnetic monopoles were observed and charge and mass dependent upper limits on the e(+)p production cross section are set.

  • Forward jet production in deep inelastic scattering at HERA
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: European Physical Journal C. Particles and Fields. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1434-6044. ; 46:1, s. 27-42
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The production of forward jets has been measured in deep inelastic ep collisions at HERA. The results are presented in terms of single differential cross sections as a function of the Bjorken scaling variable (xB(j)) and as triple differential cross sections d3 sigma/dx(Bj)dQ(2)dp(t)(,jet)(2), where Q(2) is the four momentum transfer squared and p(t)(,iet)(2) is the squared transverse momentum of the forward jet. Also cross sections for events with a di-jet system in addition to the forward jet are measured as a function of the rapidity separation between the forward jet and the two additional jets. The measurements are compared with next-to-leading order QCD calculations and with the predictions of various QCD-based models.

  • Measurement of dijet production at low Q(2) at HERA
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: European Physical Journal C. Particles and Fields. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1434-6044. ; 37:2, s. 141-159
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Triple differential dijet cross sections in e(+/-)p interactions are presented in the region of photon virtualities 2 < Q(2) < 80 GeV2, inelasticities 0.1 < y < 0.85, jet transverse energies E*(T1) > 7GeV, E*(T2) > 5 GeV, and pseudorapidities - 2.5 < η(1)*, η(2)* < 0. The measurements are made in the gamma*p centre-of-mass frame, using an integrated luminosity of 57 pb(-1). The data are compared with NLO QCD calculations and LO Monte Carlo programs with and without a resolved virtual photon contribution. NLO QCD calculations fail to describe the region of low Q(2) and low jet transverse energies, in contrast to a LO Monte Carlo generator which includes direct and resolved photon interactions with both transversely and longitudinally polarised photons. Initial and final state parton showers are tested as a mechanism for including higher order QCD effects in low E-T jet production.

  • Trends and risk of recurrent preterm birth in pregnancy cohorts in rural Bangladesh, 1990-2019
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: BMJ Global Health. - : BMJ Publishing Group Ltd. - 2059-7908. ; 8:11
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Introduction: A history of preterm birth reportedly increases the risk of subsequent preterm birth. This association has primarily been studied in high-income countries and not in low-income settings in transition with rapidly descending preterm birth figures. We evaluated the population-based trends of preterm births and recurrent preterm births and the risk of preterm birth recurrence in the second pregnancy based on prospectively studied pregnancy cohorts over three decades in Matlab, Bangladesh. Methods: A population-based cohort included 72 160 live births from 1990 to 2019. We calculated preterm birth and recurrent preterm birth trends. We assessed the odds of preterm birth recurrence based on a subsample of 14 567 women with live-born singletons in their first and second pregnancies. We used logistic regression and presented the associations by OR with a 95% CI.Results: The proportion of preterm births decreased from 25% in 1990 to 13% in 2019. The recurrent preterm births had a similar, falling pattern from 7.4% to 3.1% across the same period, contributing 27% of the total number of preterm births in the population. The odds of second pregnancy preterm birth were doubled (OR 2.18; 95% CI 1.96 to 2.43) in women with preterm birth compared with the women with term birth in their first pregnancies, remaining similar over the study period. The lower the gestational age at the first birth, the higher the odds of preterm birth in the subsequent pregnancy (test for trend p<0.001).Conclusion: In this rural Bangladeshi setting, recurrent preterm births contributed a sizeable proportion of the total number of preterm births at the population level. The increased risk of recurrence remained similar across three decades when the total proportion of preterm births was reduced from 25% to 13%.

  • Measurement of the proton structure function F-2 at low Q(2) in QED Compton scattering at HERA
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Physics Letters. Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy Physics. - : Elsevier BV. - 0370-2693. ; 598:3-4, s. 159-171
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The proton structure function F-2(x, Q(2)) is measured in inelastic QED Compton scattering using data collected with the H1 detector at HERA. QED Compton events are used to access the kinematic range of very low virtualities of the exchanged photon, Q(2), down to 0.5 GeV2, and Bjorken x up to similar to 0.06, a region which has not been covered previously by inclusive measurements at HERA. The results are in agreement with the measurements from fixed target lepton-nucleon scattering experiments. (C) 2004 Published by Elsevier B.V.

  • Search for baryonic resonances decaying to Xi pi in deep-inelastic scattering at HERA
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: European Physical Journal C. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1434-6044 .- 1434-6052. ; 52, s. 507-514
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A search for narrow baryonic resonances decaying into Ξ-π- or Ξ-π+ and their antiparticles is carried out with the H1 detector using deep inelastic scattering events at HERA in the range of negative photon four-momentum transfer squared 2 < Q2 < 100 GeV2. No signal is observed for a new baryonic state in the mass range 1600–2300 MeV in either the doubly charged or the neutral decay channels. The known Ξ(1530)0 is observed through its decay mode into Ξ-π+. Upper limits are given on the ratio of the production rates of new baryonic states, such as the hypothetical pentaquark states Ξ– 5q or Ξ0 5q, relative to the Ξ(1530)0 baryon state.

  • Measurement of inclusive and dijet D* meson cross sections in photoproduction at HERA
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: European Physical Journal C. Particles and Fields. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1434-6044. ; 72:5
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The inclusive photoproduction of D* mesons and of D*-tagged dijets is investigated with the H1 detector at the ep collider HERA. The kinematic region covers small photon virtualities Q(2) < 2 GeV2 and photon-proton centre-of-mass energies of 100< W-gamma p < 285 GeV. Inclusive D* meson differential cross sections are measured for central rapidities vertical bar eta(D*)vertical bar < 1.5 and transverse momenta p(T) (D*) > 1.8 GeV. The heavy quark production process is further investigated in events with at least two jets with transverse momentum p(T) (jet) > 3.5 GeV each, one containing the D* meson. Differential cross sections for D*-tagged dijet production and for correlations between the jets are measured in the range vertical bar eta(D*)vertical bar < 1.5 and p(T) (D*) > 2.1 GeV. The results are compared with predictions from Monte Carlo simulations and next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations.

  • Study of charm fragmentation into D (* +/-) mesons in deep-inelastic scattering at HERA
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: European Physical Journal C. Particles and Fields. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1434-6044. ; 59:3, s. 589-606
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The process of charm quark fragmentation is studied using D (* +/-) meson production in deep-inelastic scattering as measured by the H1 detector at HERA. The parameters of fragmentation functions are extracted for QCD models based on leading order matrix elements and DGLAP or CCFM evolution of partons together with string fragmentation and particle decays. Additionally, they are determined for a next-to-leading order QCD calculation in the fixed flavour number scheme using the independent fragmentation of charm quarks to D (* +/-) mesons. Two different regions of phase space are investigated defined by the presence or absence of a jet containing the D (* +/-) meson in the event. The fragmentation parameters extracted for the two phase space regions are found to be different.
