  • How Much Do We Orient?: A Systematic Approach to Auditory Distraction
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Journal of Experimental Psychology. Learning, Memory and Cognition. - : American Psychological Association (APA). - 0278-7393 .- 1939-1285. ; 47:7, s. 1054-1066
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Data on orienting and habituation to irrelevant sound can distinguish between task-specific and general accounts of auditory distraction: Distractors either disrupt specific cognitive processes (e.g., Jones, 1993;Salamé & Baddeley, 1982), or remove more general-purpose attentional resources from any attentiondemanding task (e.g., Cowan, 1995). Tested here is the prediction that there is no further auditory distraction effect on immediate serial recall with increments in the number of distractors beyond the“changing-state point” of two discrete distractors. A Bayes factor analysis refutes this nil hypothesis: This prediction, a key element of the strong changing-state hypothesis, is shown to be less likely than two competing alternatives. Quantitative predictions for distraction as a function of the number of distracters are derived for an orienting-response (OR) and a stimulus-mismatch (SMM) hypothesis, representing general and task-specific accounts respectively. The data are shown to be more likely under the SMM hypothesis. Prospects for a parametric account of auditory distraction are considered. © 2021 American Psychological Association

  • Postoperative Motility of the Small Intestine : A Study with Endoradiosondes
  • 1972
  • Ingår i: Upsala Journal of Medical Sciences. - 0300-9734 .- 2000-1967. ; 77:3, s. 202-204
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The postoperative motility of the small intestine was studiedby means of pressure-sensitive endoradiosondes in patientswho had undergone abdominal operations with andwithout enterotomy. The curves recorded were analysedqualitatively and compared with curves from healthy intactcontrol persons. In 9 patients distinct activity was recordedbetween 20 min and 3 '/* hours after the operationand in 3 patients between 3 1/2 and 5 l/* hours postoperatively. No difference was found between cholecystectomizedand gastreetomized patients. In a patient who hadundergone duodenopancreatectomy, on the other hand, activity was delayed until 16 l/z hours postoperatively. Theinitial contraction waves were predominantly of type I,and only in a few cases were type 111 waves seen. Thepropulsive motility was studied by following the point ofmaximal signal strength. After only 1-41/2 hours aftercholecystectomies and gastric resections this point layabove the symphysis pubis or at the right or left iliacfossa, indicating that the propulsive intestinal motility ofthe small intestine was not notably delayed postoperatively.Only after extensive operations was considerabledelay in this motility observed.

  • A MEMS-based oscillator with synchronous amplitude control
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Conf. Proc. - Conf. Ph. D. Res. Microelectron. Electron., PRIME. - 9781467345804 ; , s. 117-120
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper describes the design and simulation of a MEMS-based oscillator with a silicon tuning fork as frequency selective element. The interface electronics include a synchronous amplitude control circuit that allows for precise control of oscillation amplitude. The nominal oscillation frequency is 1.8 MHz. The structure has been implemented using a 0.35 μm High Voltage CMOS process and operates with a nominal supply of 3.3V.

  • Relative nuclear abundance from C to Fe and integrated flux inside the Russian part of the ISS with the Sileye-3/Alteino experiment
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physics G. - : IOP Publishing. - 0954-3899 .- 1361-6471. ; 41:1, s. 015202-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this work we present data from the Sileye-3/Alteino detector on board the International Space Station (ISS), which was gathered following a recalibration after several years in orbit. We also measure the relative nuclei abundance and integrated flux, which were normalized to the solar modulation values of August 2007. The measurements were made at different locations of the Russian part of the ISS. The relative nuclear abundances of C to Fe in relation to C, in an energy range above similar or equal to 60 MeV/n, shows high levels of odd Z particles inside the ISS and an under-abundance of C and O compared with the galactic spectrum, as presented by Simpson in 1983. In addition, the values of the integrated flux varies primarily according to location and detector orientation. An additional polyethylene shield also reduces the flux, although in a lower amount than changes in the orientation of the telescope. Data were taken as part of the ESA ALTCRISS project from late 2005 through to 2007.
