- Förstudien "Goda livschanser på Hisingen" syftar till att minska fattigdom och utanförskap och leda till att Hisingsbornas livschanser utjämnas. Sysselsättning och fast arbete är här avgörande för att stödja de grupper som har de sämsta ekonomiska förutsättningarna i Sverige. Genom kartläggning av den politiska viljan i tre stadsdelsnämnderna och Hälso- och sjukvårdsnämnden för Hisingen har projektet arbetat med strategisk påverkan och samverkan genom att skapa en plattform för initierat beslutsfattande och effektivt målgruppsarbete.

- Previous studies have often referred to the outlaw biker club as a fraternity with security and solidarity functions. In this article, Grundvall highlights some other aspects that suggest that this type of bonding tends to reinforce introversion, secrecy, and a hostile attitude toward the outside world. While on the one hand, unbroken loyalty and ritual self-affirmations form strong ties and security, on the other, they also contribute to mimetic power struggles both within the group and against other biker clubs. Grundvall demonstrates how self-reinforcing processes within the group may create a system in which secrets must be preserved, betrayal must be avoided, and where the outside world seems increasingly intimidating. The conclusions are, in many respects, also relevant to street gangs and other groups in the margins of society.

- Bikers peripheral life is in some aspects a result from social processes leading to exclusion and social shortcomings, however, it is also an arena which may be charged and turned exciting. The aesthetic practice in the biker culture is versatile. The motorcycle – the object around which the whole culture rotates – is in this context something much more than just a means of conveyance. In this presentation, I will show how the biker interprets signs and symbols in cultural core objects such as the motorbike, back patches, tattoos and the American rebel flag. It is striking to see to what extent the use and interpretation of signs and symbols create symbolic masculine patterns that reinforce the established social order in the biker culture. Both the symbolic patterns and the social order that emerge, prove to be permeated by myths.

- In this paper I will sketch out some educational strategies to meet new societal conditions. In the community-based social work programme we have located the education to one of the problematic suburban areas of Gothenburg in an effort to learn about the local community and how the citizens cope with their lives. We also teach social work with support from the social workers in the district. It is done in an experiential kind of approach where the students learn from authentic cases and tasks.
